Hey hey!Apologies if a similar thread has ever been posted but I couldn't find one SO I recently made a video detailing my theory that the straw hat is far more important than any of us had ever thought.Essentially, I believe that it is a positive form of the one ring from Lord of the Rings. Much like how the one ring brings it's owners nothing but bad fortune, the straw hat brings it's owners good fortune. It's will is the reason why Luffy has such unnaturally good luck and furthermore, it is the hat that chooses it's owner rather than Shanks, Roger or whoever else has owned the hat choosing to pass it on.
hat also seems to make it's own way to temporary owners when they need strength, comfort or good fortune the most. For example, the hat made it's way to Nami during her crisis with Arlong. This might seem like Luffy entrusting her to care for the hat in case it gets damaged, but he's taken the hat into way more dangerous situations so I doubt that's the case. With that said, there is no other reason to give Nami the hat unless it was going to help her in some way. I also don't think that Roger was the original owner of the hat and it's origin could go back to ancient times (E.g. Joy Boy).Another LOTR comparison: Just as the one ring is always trying to get back to Sauron, the straw hat always finds it's way back to Luffy if it ever gets lost. So there you have it. The world's most powerful object hidden in plain sight. Watch the video for more detail, but I definitely think that there is more to the straw hat than we thought.Thoughts?
