I'm done with the uninteresting, submissive, sexist-written female characters of OP, and I can live without them. I'm an intelligent, sensitive person, and this rubbish is hurting my brain. I'm quitting OP here.
P.S.: Also, anybody that disagrees with me is retarded, I hope you can get to be something better in your next life.
Don't let the door hit ya where the good Lord split ya!
Interesting how such a sensitive and intelligent guy has no problem with calling people retarded.

What the hell about this chapter set you off when stuff like Chapter 755 didn't?? This is random as hell.
Also get over yourself. Aside from the clueless morons, everyone here knows already that Oda is kinda crap in this regard and for that matter Japan in general is. It comes unfortunately with the territory.
So you can save your little melodramatic special snowflake bullshit for an audience that will actually be naive enough to think you're impressive.

Yeah and quit anime&manga as a whole while you're at it. Yes the Japanese have sexist tendencies, it's not exactly feminist-influenced western culture.

I'm probably late to this discussion, but I think Pudding isn't trying to lure the Straw Hats into a trap. She seemed sincere about her feelings towards Sanji and even felt bad when she thought she was "stealing" him from his nakama. Plus, with the recent official translation of this chapter, it's made more perceptible that she has no incentive of an attempt to help trap the SHs.
And another thing, isn't Luffy trying to get to Whole Cake Island anyway to snatch Sanji, get the fishprints from the Poneglyph, recruit Jinbei and confront Big Mom? I don't understand why he would need to be tricked into going towards his destination, but this is a discussion thread, so I shouldn't close it out of the realm of possibility.
I know why her blush when talked avbout the wedding was weird, she was turned down already. Boom what a detective I am. Also any particular reason why the owner of the cafe was Nitro the Jello?
@Tamiel:

Actually I think there are 3 different characters in this intro box :
-Owner of the cafe
-Nitro the Jello
-Labian the Carpet
Sanji doesn't have hearts eyes . I think she will be a nice person but in my opinion she is lying about Sanji.

So all those times it happened before was all a lie?

Uh yes he literally does.
Was Nitro the Jelly sliding off the table while everyone was talking because he was up to something or because Chopper was eating the table? Either way it's a nice little detail I just now noticed.

No, when he meets a beautiful female, his eyes are turned into hearts for a moment but he doesn't have eyes hearts
When you look at his wanted poster and you don't know him you really think his has always hearts eyes and black legs
So you're saying he does have heart eyes?
i am trying to say :

All right, this week's VIZ chapter translation should hopefully clarify some confusing stuff.
- Mangastream page 7: Pudding states in the first panel, in the MS version, that "I guess this isn't what you'd call a consensual marriage"; however, in VIZ, the line is "I should have known it wasn't consensual."
- In the next panel, Pudding sounds like she's more openly against the arranged marriages than MS made it sound. She says that Big Mom is "selfish" instead of "bullheaded and stubborn." Also, the confusing last speech bubble in that panel (where it was confusing as to who was talking, with the "Don't! Why don't you just run away!"), is actually being spoken by Pudding as well. She says, "We can only submit or run away."
- The sister of Pudding's who ran away to find her own love is clarified to be an older sister.
- Some slight differences/clarifications in Pudding describing Sanji: "His eyes are hearts", "we have similar interests" (instead of "hobbies"), "I hear his legs are black, but he's very strong and dependable." Responses: Luffy says, "Yup, you know him! […] That's him, all right! He's a great guy!" Chopper: "That's not what they mean by Black Leg."
- Pudding in VIZ: "Listen, at this point, I think…I can still forget about Sanji!" And then, in her last panel on the next page, "I was stunned at how wonderful he was. I thought it was a dream."
- Her response to Sanji wanting to go back to his friends: "And that wasn't a one-sided feeling! Sure enough, you have risked your lives to come to Totland to get him! I find the thought of being married to someone who regrets it very painful, even if it was Mama's orders! I can't take him away from you all."
- Then, about meeting up with them at Whole Cake, "Let's meet up tomorrow […] I'll make sure to bring Sanji with me! […] I'm her own daughter. Don't worry about me. You're in enemy territory. Focus on your own safety instead! You're the ones with the true mutual love! It's a shame, I suppose, but maybe my next suitor will be even more wonderful than him. "
- Yes, Luffy really does refer to Pekoms as "Pekoms" instead of "Pekomamushi/Lion Viper".
- The dude with the gun specifically states that Germa killed his wife/kids/country in VIZ, which was more ambiguous in MS.
- Sanji's brother (probably Ichiji) about him in VIZ: "I really want to see him again." (Instead of "I can't wait to see him.")
Wow MS screwed up that much on the timeline, 1 day passing seems like it will come much faster than the 3 days mentioned
Also I figure the vinsmokes didnt directly kill his family but they burned in what looks like the fire on the last page, the vinsmokes probably indiscriminantly laid waste to the rebel base.
@Monkey:
Or Oda was just making a joke about how Sanji was permanently in love mode during their conversation.
Or there is no joke involved at all and Pudding is just a good actress!
Note: Probably not everything she said is a lie, but the things about meeting Sanji is definitely fishy.

Repeating something she heard about him - while specifying that it's hearsay - isn't "proof" that she never met him. It's not even evidence that she never met him.

There is absolutely nothing fishy the way it was portrayed.

He wears a suit and hasn't shown his legs, she was simply talking about him fame. Pudding even told us that he taught her a couple recipes.
I'm dumbfounded by the extremes people try to go to paint her black. We fucking had a major three year long arc ending just last year, where there was a woman(Viola) lying to Sanji at first. It would be far too similar, if we had another woman lying to the rest of the group to screw them up AGAIN.
Exactly. There is nothing fishy or weird about what she said. She's just a little kid that fell in love and her innocence makes her kind of dumb. The fact that she said that sanji had heart eyes makes the whole thing more believable.
And then there's the fact that she has no reason to be lying, something the other side completely ignore.

@Long:

That seems unlikely. Based on what she claims to know about him, it looks like they talked for a good while. She had time to notice he is a gentleman, they talked about their interests, he gave her tips about making sweets, they even went to a part when they discussed the wedding and he apologized for not being able to marry her - not a very comical conversation. It's really weird to think he stayed in lovey dovey mode the whole time, it's not like Pudding is exceptionally beautiful like Hancock or Alvida to justify him having an extreme reaction like this even by his standards.
Also, it would be weird for Oda to throw that information if it was just meant to be "he stayed with heart eyes the whole time". It would be just useless information (unless it was a red herring and he wanted the reader to doubt Pudding, but I believe he would be throwing more obvious fake hints in that case). And even as a joke it doesn't work because he didn't treat it like a joke, he didn't made any SH react to it pointing out what the line was supposed to mean as he usually does, he simply let that information slid almost unnoticed among the other regular details Pudding was providing.
The "black legs" part I'm ok with. It seems like a genuine mistake she could make regardless actually meeting Sanji or not.
There is absolutely nothing fishy the way it was portrayed.
Well, my believe won't change till Oda proves me otherwise.
To me her whole exposition is fishy and that's that, is like Sanji saying that he met her after seen her picture a few days in advance.

I can understand why people might think Pudding is trying to lure the Strawhats into a trap (I won’t completely rule I out, as things do seem to be going a bit too smoothly) but I'm not really sure I understand the argument of her supposedly never meeting Sanji. I mean…how exactly would lying about that help her? Why not just say she never met Sanji and claim that's the reason she's willing to part with him? If anything it seems more suspicious to claim she met and fell in love with him, but apparently is willing to just let him leave.
Also what if she messed up and made a claim about Sanji that wasn't true; then she would make herself seem more suspicious to the people she is trying to trap. If her goal really was to help Big Mom trap them why take the risk of potentially getting herself caught in a lie immediately by lying about someone they would know better than her?
Do we even know for sure she is the 3 eyes girl? Lola's sister looks just like her, 3 eyes girl can have a sister that looks just like her.

The whole story actually gave reason for her to help the SH. If she never met Sanji, why would she be willing to betray her mother just to help the SH? But having met him, she saw he is a good guy and related to him, was touched by and acknowledged his need to go back to his friends. If she is lying, doing so would make she helping the SH much less suspicious. And it is proven by the fact that everyone but Pedro bought her motives after that ("oh, so she loves him and wants him to be happy").
What is still off is why she would need their trust. All she did in the end was send them through an specific route, but why would that be needed? Is BM not sure she can take the SH down in a fair fight so she prepared for them in that route? It would be weird for a Yonkou to be that wary of Luffy…
@uniaka:

Good point.
3 eyes girl also had a slime on her shoulder, though. Sure it didn't had a gangster hat and a face back then…

Before she even mentioned meeting Sanji she mentioned she considers Big Mom selfish and exploitive and expressed admiration for her older sister who left to do her own thing. Could have played that up more instead of lying about a guy she never met to the people who know him better than her and could easily call her out before her plan was even set in motion. Besides, meeting him one time and being willing to betray her mom still seems pretty suspicious, regardless of how good a person she supposedly though he was.
@.access:

But she couldn’t have known for certain that would happen. Again, if she messed up and said something wrong they would have immediately been suspicious.

Early design, maybe. Big Mom doesn't look exactly the same as she did in that scene, either.
Looking at it economically, there's not much purpose in overcrowding an already potentially overcrowded arc with multiple versions of a similar character. We knew three eyed girl will become an important character ever since we saw her, just because we saw her. And Pudding seems like she's going to be an important character as well. Why not combine them into a single character instead of dividing it into two? Unless three eyed girl and Pudding were nothing more than a red herring to make us think they are each other. And they are both accompanied by Mr. Slime.
Well regardless if she's lying or not there is still something very suspicious on the events that transpired in this chapter IMO.
Kinda sucks we'll have to wait another week to see what happens next, but we don't want Oda to kill himself over One Piece more than he already is.
Friendly reminder: No chapter this week.
I'm just saying paisano. Take Japan to task, but let's (especially some of us from somewheres!) not roll out the ol' "Western values" crappola.
There are countries and regions in the west that are pretty grody still in some gender regards. Not to name any names lol.
This whole nonsense of a discussion would not be taking place if everyone here started using logic. Not only does pudding have no reason to lie to the strawhats, the fact she said dumb things like that pretty much proves shes telling the truth. If it was a trap does anyone really think a yonkou/god would have pudding say such dumb things that aren't even true for the most part? He doesn't have black legs, he doesn't have heart eyes. The fact that these are lies make her story completely believable. But again, logic can be hard sometimes.
But even then, there is no reason at all for her to be lying.
I think she is saying the truth but don't limit your imagination. I can think of a few reasons myself.
It doesn't matter if you have a 100 reasons if they're all nonsense.

Looking at it economically, there's not much purpose in overcrowding an already potentially overcrowded arc with multiple versions of a similar character.
But we have maybe over a hundred family members at the wedding, plus guests. Making most of them twins and multiple lookalikes is economical if you have to invent and to draw that shit. Actually, I'm wondering how Oda will deal with this.

So, when I'm being a dick, it's attacking and when you're being a dick, it's fine? :ninja:
I'm not sure why you're so sure that Pudding couldn't be more than a cute girl. From the moment she appeared, everything has been going so suspiciously good for SH, except that a guy who was out of their sight vanished. His message wasn't "turn back" for nothing. He obviously knows more than us and if he has a reason to believe they are in danger, they are. It's not like Oda has never had a woman set up a trap for one of SH by playing innocent. Remember Dressrosa?
Why would Pudding draw out a secret route to SH? Maybe there is no secret route. Maybe whole Totland is in on it and SH will sail to Cake thinking they are safe, just to fall into a trap. Why would someone "godlike" like Big Mom even bother with setting traps? Maybe she wants to play it safe, unlike all the big shots Luffy has defeated so far. Maybe she wants to make sure they actually do get to Cake. If they are alerted sooner or have trouble getting through, maybe they could turn back and flee. Maybe Big Mom doesn't want to risk it. Maybe she wants to capture Luffy that hard. Maybe she wants to take him as a next husband, or marry one of her daughters to him. Maybe she enjoys playing games with her opponents.
It's just a little too presumptuous to think everything about Pudding is clear and cut and that your logic is better than the logic of people who disagree with you.

I set traps for things that are weaker than me as well cockroaches,mice/rats i set traps since it's a lot easier and faster than trying to catch them it would be a huge waste of time if big mom sent all her forces out to try and catch the straw hats it's a lot easier if you know where they're going to be and catch them at that spot!

Luffy can not tell when people are lying and chopper said that's not what they mean by black leg which means she only was told how his legs look.
Usopp is a liar so it makes sense that other characters can do it to luffy even said once that Usopp is good at lying while luffy said he sucks at lying just look at luffy trying to lie about not knowing where sabo/aces treasure was when we saw luffy as a kid with sabo/ace.

Not Quite Stupid Theory: We suspect that Mom has a DF power that allows her to animate objects. What if Pudding has never met him but has fallen in love with his wanted poster?
As in literally?
Mom has animated it to amuse her or get her used to the idea or something and, like the paintings in Harry Potter world, it has a few basic responses and THAT is what Pudding has fallen for? She may not even know it's a fake.
