Welcome back, HxH!
Hiatus x Hiatus III: Goodnight, Sweet Princes
-
-
As usual, it's so wordy…
-
Are you surprised?
-
-
Damn, couldn't even wait for a clean scan. Now that's devotion.
-
This post is deleted!
-
I missed not understanding half of what the characters are talking about.
-
all that exposition hunter x hunter is back baby
-
The chapter is out..!! Man, the happiness.
-
Who the fuck is Izunabi? Wait! Is it the guy who teached Kurapika? I didn't even knew he was named!
-
-
Facebox…Really Togashi?
-
I find the younger princes plan to support the non evil Prince naive.if the king claims "no, all dead or no crown" then its a mess until he dies and another succession war.
Well, all 14 princes have nen stands.
-
Glad to see the return of Basho and Hanzo.
-

Plot twist, there is no 14th prince, it is a nen stand! (or vice versa)
Also i completely forgot what that pot was all about.
-
It is said prince, but isn't Worble and Nozome girls?
-
Ok, have headache now…trying to understand all those brainy dialogues. Good to read HxH again thou.
-
I mean Togashi has set up a pretty intriguing political conflict on the way to the mysterious new world. I'm somewhat interested in the princes, their bodyguards, Netero's son and Ging's group and the interplay between all the groups.
The problem of course is that I'm convinced we'll never see the end of this arc.
-
am still reading but damn, i wasn't ready for that close-up panel with the bros. everybody looks so dapper. slay me, togashi!!
-

All of them are called prince indifferent to the proper gender, probably once again Togashi showing his prime english skills.
-

I see I'm not the only one !
Kurapika's monologues just killed me. But it's still pleasant to read. -
goddamit, i am realy pumped for the upcoming chapters. hope we see at least a first shift before the hiatus. although there is a high severety of danger, i think in the next 2-3 chapters at least 1 prince is death
-

Kurapika's monologues just killed me. But it's still pleasant to read.LOL. It's good to follow the story, but if I could develop my nen…it would be reinforcement XD. I just go where action is.
-
Well, the backgrounds that the assistants drew look nice.
Beyond that, words man. Words.
-
Gotta love the overly complicated deduction by Kurapika on how he's sure this Prince is gonna show up…only for the attendent of the OTHER Prince that showed up to go "lol no, see that's exactly why he wouldn't show up!"
Ugh
Well HxH is back, enjoy your word salads.
-
I missed not understanding half of what the characters are talking about.
Organisation codes, I get it! Wait, what?
It was a little surprising Kurapika hadn't considered that woman's angle when picking his prince. But in the end it worked out better than he thought. Fool's luck so to say.
Since Kura's background showed his chains, I guess the other guys' background hint at their abilities as well. I don't remember if any of them showed their ability before.

Seriously, there were like 4 pages of solid text that could have been covered with
"I looked through all the requests for bodyguards and this is the one I think most closely matches the prince's profile." -
BASHO IS BACK! And he's working for the most fabulous prince. Dat hair, man.
Beyond that, I hope Kurapika's employer survives. Well then, let's enjoy what we get until the next break.
-
It seems to me Togashi wouldn't waste time on such needless expositions if he had any intention of making this last. Describing the recruitment system, explaining information transfer devices and methods… Things that should be background noise at best are the focus of a chapter. It's like he's postponing Dark Continent as much as he can.
At least there's some progress here, though.
-
It wouldn't be Togashi if there wasn't lengthy dialogue.
-
Now I remember why I wasn't excited by HxH's return. All the useless exposition almost killed me. Now I'm left with a headache.
-
It is said prince, but isn't Worble and Nozome girls?
For patriarchy purposes they are ALL princes. The right term should be "heir".
-
Seems like an interesting chapter.
A lot of words though. I'll wait Viz's version this monday with a much better typesetting to read it again. I remember it was far easier to read in their version. -
I had an easier time trying to understand Killer 7 than this chapter.
-
I love that overthinking and the strategy involved, but all in words sure is heavy.
So where will Gon and Killua find their place in this big picture… -
I had an easier time trying to understand Killer 7 than this chapter.
I think it was fairly simple, just a little wordy.
Basically:
Kurapika's target is Tserriednich, one of the princes. He's trying to get close to him.
The princes need bodyguards and some of them are putting up ads. Kurapika's monopolizing these positions to get close to Tserry.
Kurapika knows that the princes putting up ads are the ones that are either more naive or less privileged. Tserry is neither, so Kurapika's looking for the next best thing. Any prince will do, but some would be better than others.
The ads are anonymous and aren't really different besides pay. Kurapika deduces from the payment patterns that one of them doesn't make sense for any prince but Harkenburg, who's somewhat close to Tserry, so Kurapika chooses to respond to the ad.
Harkenburg isn't looking for a bodyguard, though, so the only way the spending pattern makes sense is if someone was mimicking it. That's exactly what Worble's mom did, to find someone who would pick up on that small peculiar hint as a measure of qualification.
-
Hey! Hunter X Hunter is back! Yay! lets go read! I've missed the artstyle…
OHMYGODWHATISWITHTHEEXPOSITIONAAAAAARGH
Well. Can positively say I understood 10% of that. Jesus togashi. jesus.
-
Yeah it's not all that difficult or complex, there's just a loooooooooooooooooot of exposition. I bet a reread of the past 10 or so chapters would help as well. It has been over a year for a lot of us.

Can you explain why we should care?

Right on cue for the fanboys to come out with their "Ugh, it's not that complicated" routine.

Stuff happened. Happy it's back. Please don't end on a good cliffhanger.
Wonder if his editor is too afraid to tell him to ease up on the words or they simply don't care.
-
Should we not care?
We should. This is vintage Kurapica and we're going with him to find the last pair of eyes. Plus, the princes are all involved in the dark continent. This was also a way for us to learn more about the princes, who will surely be with us for a while. It's not perfect, but it's Togashi and I like it.
-
@TLC:
Can you explain why we should care?
Because it's what happened in the chapter and we're discussing the chapter?
No need to be a dick about it dude.
The real question is why do you care?
-
Oh, fuck, it seems I will have to read the last chapters again -__- I honestly couldn't understand anything Kurapika was saying in this one ("Prince Tysdfspoeff is probably #7 or #3" Huh?).
-
Reread the past 10 chapters as well as this week's. It was pretty easy to understand compared to some. (345 comes to mind) but that might just be the translation.
I'm not sure how I feel about this. On one head, this is getting me pretty hyped, but on the other hand, I wonder why Togash didn't split the prince conflict and the dark continent arc. Both of those could do full, complex arcs. Having both at the same time gives me an headache and makes me fear for the future. Oh well, it was a great read as usual. -
I'm just not sure why the requests are anonymous, I'd think that who you're working for would be the single most important factor to put in.
But hey, I'm glad to see some old characters return! Especially Hanzo, maybe he can get some respect this time?
-
I understood the chapter perfectly, although I agree that the exposition was a bit lengthy. Like Wagomu explained, the more affluent princes don't need to hire bodyguards anonymously like the less affluent ones, because they have better methods of screening their potential employees. To that end, Kurapika's target was out of reach directly. Harkenburg was Kurapika's best bet at getting close to his target, but his bartering pattern was mimicked by the youngest prince(ss)'s mother. Since specific conditions were forbidden in the contracts due to them being instant identifiers for each prince/ss, Kurapika had very little information to go on other than what was made public about Harkenburg (Social media posts, school record, etc.), so he took a gamble. It was wrong, but Oito knew his intent and explained why she did what she did. She knew the youngest prince(ss) had no chance to win unless she was removed from the runnings, because apparently despite being an infant, her brothers and sisters apparently have no qualms about killing her to remove her as a potential threat. Instead of removing them from the situation, Kurapika agreed to keep them safe at all costs, because it still enables him to accomplish his goal of killing the fourth prince and retrieving his clan's eyes.

It's a rule to even the playing field(so some princes don't monopolize the good professional only leaving the inferior ones) and at the same time to protect certain princes that would attract certain folk due to their reputation.
