The title of this thread is literally "Hiatus X Hiatus".
I know. I made it that. Years ago.
The joke is right there, it's plain on the thread title. The joke is expressed for all to see upon entering the thread. It is done.
We all know this run isn't going to last. We don't need to repeat it ten times a page.
The company and the man himself have stated legitimate medical reasons for him being unable to work. Personally, I don't believe them, but they are legitimate reasons and there's no official reason for us not to. He even got assistants last time around so you can't heap upon him "Well if only he'd get help he could do more." And e even had an anime staff which I'm sure would have loved to do brand new content under his supervision. It isn't the art that's stopping him. It's the creative process or a legit medical problem or…. pure laziness.
Whatever it is, the jokes have been made endlessly for three threads now. Enough is enough.
If we absolutely must make the same stupid joke over and over and over again for the next three or four months until it goes into hiatues again and the thread gets closed, at the very least, make up new jokes other than "he's off to play dragon quest."
"Well, looks like Togashi has to return to his home planet again!"
"I guess he's too distracted having sex with his Sailor Moon creator wife."
"So what Bakuman character does this make Togashi then?"
"Looks like TOgashi's been given the one ring of power and has to go to Mordor again"
"Poor guy, must suck having earned millions of dollars with his multiple decades of successes and having to spend time with his family."

Sure, for those who've been accompanying the manga for some time, but there are new fans that still have fun with it, and some people who this joke will never die to. I really don't see what's wrong with it, if people can enjoy it, just leave'em be.

Sure, for those who've been accompanying the manga for some time, but there are new fans that still have fun with it, and some people who this joke will never die to. I really don't see what's wrong with it, if people can enjoy it, just leave'em be.

The joke is endless, is used constantly, and has been for like eight years. Every time this thread is active, repeated multiple times per page. It's old, very old.
Yes, there are people that it will be new to. But for everyone else it is very, very, very, worn out. Go back and read the archives a little. You'll see it without looking for very long.
Hell, the very first post of this thread from 2 years ago I made a comment about "let's try to avoid the Dragon Quest jokes while its running", so they've been amok for at least that long in the previous thread.It's the same as the damn Sonic cycle joke over in the Sonic thread that keeps it totally dead and uninteresting.
The day it was announced Togashi was returning, we literally had 100 posts within half a day all making bets on when the next hiatus would be and making the exact same jokes.
There's venting and that's fine, but like I said, if you MUST make the dead horse kicking joke, at least do something fresh with it beyond "he's off to play Dragonquest". That variant has been played the most.
Just want to throw out that The path of Daggers is a horrible book.
Crossroads of Twilight is far worse for the complete and utter lack of plot progression. Like the entire first 600 pages cover only one day.
Books 8-11 in general were really rough.

Togashi is actually Togashi Freecss and Hunter X Hunter is the road map for his son Ting Freecss to find him, but he's a true Freecss and doesn't want to be bothered.

I just finished book 8 for the first time and I'm working through 9. I kind of hate his ridiculously long prologues but I got through it. I'll finish it all though, hopefully.. Same with HxH??

It's a slog for that section of the series (at least you aren't waiting 2 or 3 years between volumes!) but if you're already that far its worth toughing out to get to the last couple volumes which are pretty good.

HxH is more ASoIaF than WoT. Robert Jordan pumped them out at a pretty good pace, even if the pace of the actual plot decreased. Conversely, GRRM has finished two ASoIaF books since 2000.

Seconding Crossroads of Twilight as worst WoT book. Really, as soon as Faile is kidnapped and Perrin has nothing to do for four books the series gets bad.
It's not AS bad in context of the series as a whole, and when you don't have to wait to go to the next volume (it was much more lenient on my reread when the series finished a couple years ago) but maaaaan is it bad the first time through. Especially when you get to the end and NOTHING has happened and you have to wait two more years for the next one and then that comes out and then the author dies before writing the final one and so that ultimately takes another 8 years.

Ah man, I'm working at a snail's pace on the good books (a 100 pages away from finishing Shadow Rising), it's gonna be really rough when I get to the bad ones.
I shall persevere though!

I first read them about a year before the final book came out so I don't know the true pain and my tolerance is a bit higher. I burned through them pretty quickly too so Crossroads of Twilight was basically just a minor disappointment.

i understand the frustration for the same old jokes, but its literally the same ol problem. cause and effect. its like, i hate the bloody nose gag but its literally an old gag thats been going on for decades, ive become numb to the joke and move on. with all that happens on this forum im surprised you haven't compartmentalized all this shit by now.

Just go easy with WoT spoilers, so I don't accidentally read something. It was never translated in Croatian and I recently decided to just buy the original versions online. As soon as I have extra money lying around. Anyone knows where I can get it at a good price?
As for HxH jokes, it would be easier to come up with new stuff if there was more new material. It's been on hiatus more than it's been running. There's even a freaking up-to-date webpage with HxH hiatus chart, general or by arc, hiatus total percentage etc.

Well, it's not a problem most of the time, but the fantasy books, which I like the most, tend to use a lot of the archaic or less known terms. Sometimes I need to stop reading for a second to look them up. No matter how good you are at second language, the words will always flow more naturally in your native language. But I'm more and more often giving up since sometimes the wait is too long. Book 2 of The Kingkiller Chronicles, for example, was released like a month ago (haven't read it yet) while the original has been out for 5 years. And there's a whole lot of quality works nobody is interested in translating.

Well you'll be reading quite a few words from 2 other random languages beside English/Croatian. I don't think this is a series that really relies on its English, though. Jordan is an interesting author in that he can write really good and succinct prose and just chooses not to. If I were to translate the series to another language It would probably be 5 books shorter, haha.

Togashi? Togashi is weak. The money Togashi had saved from the last run is but spent, its pride and dignity forgotten. It is because of Togashi the Manga survives. I was there. I was there four years ago. I was there the day the strength of Togashi failed.
I watched Togashi wrap up the story at one of the most logical points, with Gon meeting Ging, the one place it was building towards from the start. The main character had achieved his originally stated goal.
I called to him, "End it here! You may not have answered every question, but this ending is at least somewhat satisfactory!"
He simply replied "No".
Togashi kept the story going. It should have ended that day, but the plot was allowed to endure. There's no strength left in the world of Togashi… he's started an intriguing arc he most likely will never finish...

Kingkiller loses a lot on translations, because Naming is partly based on puns and double meanings, Auri is meaningless in spanish, but has tons meaning behind her speech and actions when you know these things are homonims, and many hints about the missing history don't get highlighted outside english.
Also, the language wasn't that archaic.

Kingkiller loses a lot on translations, because Naming is partly based on puns and double meanings, Auri is meaningless in spanish, but has tons meaning behind her speech and actions when you know these things are homonims, and many hints about the missing history don't get highlighted outside english.
Also, the language wasn't that archaic.
Our translators do a pretty good job most of the time (sometimes I see passages I'd translate differently), but yeah, the language barrier is still there. Especially when it's written like Kingkiller. Or when reading those long expositions in HxH. I know about the hidden meanings and some of them were conveyed in the translation, but it's just impossible to do it justice completely. Which is why I'm planning to read the original.

Last book took almost 3 years to translate to finnish, if Book 3 would be published at late 2016/ early 17 it would still be around 2020 to get finnish print.
That's why I doubt I'll wait for native translation.

Pariston only acts like he is weak in my opinion. He might be one of most dangerous fighters.

! To get closer Tserriednich, Kurapika needs to get hired, including himself as an applicant. Also, he invited to join some known people: His master Toka, Hanzo, Bashou, Senritzu, and even Bisuke.
! When he went to the explanatory meeting, the prince involved in the meeting was Woble (the baby prince). Kurapika can't believe that a baby was the prince involved in his meeting. He thought was Halkenburg, the nineth prince.
Also, the first prince don't need a bodyguard because he has a personal army to protect him.

Might as well follow this again because I used to really-really love HxH. But Togashi and his eccentricities is really bringing this series down for me. But I'll still enjoy it, and then prepare to let down again.
