Next Strawhat Crewmate (Vol. 6)

What question? :ninja:
-
I would be, as that means I can live and still enjoy life. I'm not at a point in life where I would not want to be.
Happy RamistaR?

LoL what ?
No I was talking about KageKageKing's question. What question did you answer ? :wassat: -
What clouds do: rain, lightning and hail.
We have one member who can do that already. -
LoL what ?
No I was talking about KageKageKing's question. What question did you answer ? :wassat:You asked if the person could answer the question. I assumed you meant THE question, so I answered it. You know…

Somehow I always knew the answers to the oldest questions of the world would come from a One Piece forum.
-
Well, about of all the minks, I can't say I see a potential nakama. There are more then enough swordmen, since they have that musketeer branch, and since all can use the lightning effects, it would not be unique. They do have place on luffy's fleet.
-
Let us face it. We have a BIG elephant in the room.
-
Raizou Ninja/samurai minkemen will me future nakama
-
Let us face it. We have a BIG elephant in the room.
We have a big elephant, but it's in no room. I doubt Law can create one big enough.
At this time, there is only one possible candidate in my mind and we won't know until we get an actual reveal. That would be Pedro for me. We had a small glimpse of him but it was mostly shadowed with the only feature we got was the ear that was missing a big piece. His look and attitude showed that he was not happy with the straw hats, which could be foreshadowing some kind of tragic past, the big if there being it's not about the Straw Hats or Samurai's in particular. It makes me think of Franky in some way, where we got a look at him in a mask so there was no defined feature, but then we eventually got a full look. I can also see him being one to not follow the rules of sticking to the time, since he stuck to the shadows.
All that said, I doubt he will be a candidate but he's the only one left really that would make me think of a possibility. Neither of the leaders will come as they have obligations. Wanda and Carrot have nothing shouting for them, and I doubt one of the three main musketeers are going to leave all of a sudden. So for me, it's Pedro or no one, and most likely it's no one.
-
The way that Raizou's appearance has been delayed, as well being set up for drama with both the minks and Kaido's men in future really has my interest piqued.
His appearance will probably be met with hostility by the minks, which in Luffy's eyes will be unjustified.
It could even lead to some showdown between Luffy and Nekomamushi, since he made it clear that he would target any samurai that steps foot on Zou.
I really do think we might have a new nakama storyline starting here.
-
I didn't really think about Raizo, just thinking about the Minks.
A ninja would be different enough, since he would be about stealth and ninjustu perhaps (or a devil fruit that allows for a ninjustsu like skill). We had Luffy and the others react to the Ninja like they do when Franky does his robot stuff, so there's some precedence there. We might need someone who can stick with the crew and go do some reconnaissance, which while Robin can do a little with her abilities they would need someone who could sneak around and get the lay of the land. Last, feels like we would get closer to the random things they could have as crew members (Cyborg, Skeleton, and Ninja).
We just need a reveal and some info on him and we might just have our person.
-
@The:
Cyborg, Skeleton, and Ninja
Ok, I'm boarding this train.
-
Considering That this is the 3rd island Kinemon has been with the crew, 4 with Wano country, you would thing he has the better shots as nakama.
-
Fuck it. Just have all three musketeers join the crew. They look so cool.
-
@The:
You asked if the person could answer the question. I assumed you meant THE question, so I answered it. You know…

No no no. It's 42.

@uniaka:

He was completely sidelined in Dresserossa, and he's being sidelined here. That's more a "set up the plot" and less "nakama".

They're not on the island yet. :ninja:

Speaking of logias there's one I really miss and totally am in love with.
Ice. As in ice-cream. Screw Aokiji, screw Monet, whoever has this ability I want for nakama instantly!

Ice. As in ice-cream. Screw Aokiji, screw Monet, whoever has this ability I want for nakama instantly!
Many people in the crew would want them to join, but I'm not sure if they themselves would be so comfortable with it. Unless they're a Wanze type of person.
Dunno, I'm always difficult when it comes to any discussions on new Nakama. When I look at individual characters as such (such as Jinbei) I could picture them joining. But one thing that always ticks me off is that we have this perfect hierarchy in the crew right now. There's a Monster Trio, a Weakling Trio, and a Middle Trio (or whatever the latter is commonly referred to). Another crewmate would mess with that. I don't really like the fact that this is apparently important to me, but I can't help but be concerned about that. The only way to "fix" it would be if three more members joined in all, creating a new Trio somewhere down the line, or altering the Trios. But three more? I can hardly see that happening. I feel like Oda has enough trouble putting everyone in the spotlight as it is. Brook has yet to really have a good fight, all he really had was the 1 on 1 in Fishman Island. Nami hasn't done much post-timeskip, I would like to see her fight a 1 on 1 again some time like she did back in Enies Lobby. Sanji was amazing back in the Grand Line but has yet to do much in the New World (luckily this seems to be about to change). All in all I don't see how there could possibly be room for more than 1 new crewmate. And if it's only one then it'd mess with the beautiful hierarchy ;-;
This discussion has probably been had before so sorry about this, I've just never really posted here before and felt like opening my thoughts up to the world.
-
I think Raizou is almost a lock-in for nakama as well, Robzillas points are what Im thinking
-
However, the need cannot be denied and is heavily foreshadowed even already quite at the beginning.
Like back in Whiskey Peak where Luffy just ate and drunk random stuff. If he had an ice-cream logia in his crew, he would have been sated way earlier and the whole conflict between him and Zoro - remember it was a serious fight to the death - might have been avoided completely.
If - or better when - there is another food-related death-match, we need an ice-cream related logia in order to handle and defuse the situation. cough Big Mom cough

However, also Kanjuro was mentioned for some chapters (at least for half Dressrosa) before we saw him.
So this is not a clue to me.
Conversely, being a ninja is.
(Luffy's shining eyes…) -
Hopefully Pedro gets revealed in chapter 810 or 811. I want to see his full design and fighting during this battle with Jack and his crew. What could make Pedro so important that he is one of if not the LAST Minkmen to be revealed in full? Maybe he is part of the reason why Inuarashi and Nekomamushi are not friends anymore. :wassat:
Key to my nakama shorthand
FNFL: First Name First Letter
LS: Leftside Scar
DFNT: Devil Fruit Number TheoryMy ranking of potential nakamas as of now in Zou:
1. Pedro: Unique FNFL, LS, Minkmen overlaps with Chopper, feline Minkmen overlaps with Nami the CAT Burglar:ninja:
2. Raizou: NOT unique FNFL, No description of appearance, Ninja…that's really it:ninja:
3. Kin'emon: Unique FNFL, No LS, DFNT, 2 sword style, Luffy asked his bottom half to join, quirk of communicating with farts, samurai style overlaps Zoro
4. There is no 4th place medalKin'emon is clearly the most fleshed out which is funny since to me he is the least likely to join. The more mystique the better their chances are to join. :ninja: Essentially saving Pedro for last is a big reason I have him #1.
-
Brook has yet to really have a good fight, all he really had was the 1 on 1 in Fishman Island.
He destroyed Taleran. Had a good emotional battle against Ryuma, though that was Zoro's to win. Defeated flying fish riders, and his token fight on FIshman Island along with everyone else, and he's the one that defeated Jora… and just a couple chapters ago he helped protect the ship expertly.
He hasn't had many one on ones, sure, but he also joined right before the seperation timeskip, and there just hasn't been a whole lot of fights overall since then. *Luffy and Zoro aside) Robin's only had two one-on-ones (Pell, and on skypeia) in the whole series, and she showed up in volume 13. Getting a fight isn't the only thing, they help and contribute in other ways.
All in all I don't see how there could possibly be room for more than 1 new crewmate. And if it's only one then it'd mess with the beautiful hierarchy ;-;
It'll probably be two more members, so… ANd Luffy is going to promote right out of the monster trio into a league all his own. Jinbe can round out the monster trio if thats an issue.
Or, we could call them... the monster quartet. Eh? Doesn't that sound even more badass?
-
Or, we could call them… the monster quartet. Eh? Doesn't that sound even more badass?
Now I'm picturing those four in Barbershop Quartet Uniforms.
-

There was never an official hierarchy. Sure Luffy, Zoro, & Sanji were the three strongest, and Usopp, Nami, & Chopper the weakest at some point, but that wasn't always a thing since the crew gained members as they went. We didn't and we still don't even know how Brook compares to Usopp, Nami, & Chopper.
I feel like Oda has enough trouble putting everyone in the spotlight as it is.
He doesn't. Everyone contributes to something.
Brook has yet to really have a good fight, all he really had was the 1 on 1 in Fishman Island
Getting spotlight and having a 1 on 1 fight do not always coincide. This line of reasoning is why there's always a misconception that some of the crew don't do enough, when. in fact, they do. You also fail to include why he hasn't gotten them. The entire crew was disbanded for several arcs when he joined. It would also be silly and convenient to have just enough perfect opponents for everyone to have a 1 on 1 battle in every arc.
Nami hasn't done much post-timeskip, I would like to see her fight a 1 on 1 again
Yes she has. Again, you simply ignore her contributions because you're only focused one 1 on 1's.
Sanji was amazing back in the GrandLine but has yet to do much in the New World (luckily this seems to be about to change).
He's done enough, especially on Zou.
All in all I don't see how there could possibly be room for more than 1 new crewmate.
If Oda is capable of fleshing out the characterization of many side characters and giving the majority of them fights and something to do, he's capable of doing the same for new crew members.
-
Yea, I think Pedro and Raizou are the most obvious candidates due to the mystery surrounding the both of them.
-
Not so much for Pedro but yeah, Raizou is one of those characters that has been mentioned like half a dozen times in the past and has yet to appear…Oda does so every now and then and usually is for really important characters (ike Jimbe for exemple) so I do expect him to be important and certainly strong. So maybe there's a infinitesimal small chance for him to join...
-
I dunno, Kanjuro was hyped quite a lot too and look how that turned out. Granted, Raizou does have the cool ninja thing going for him.
Still supporting Kinemon though. Fuku Fuku no mi please!
-
While i really like the minks design, none of them really stand out. Also, we already have chopper who can pass as a mink easily on Zou. So, a potential mink crewmate will have to really stand out from the rest.
As for Raizou, i think it is just the standard build up characters get before being introduced. Raizou isn't the only one whom the mink bear hatred against. Kinemon, Momo and Kanjuro are also included.

Different animal, different personality, different fighting style, different goal and its good enough for me, it works with the humans so it works with Chopper, all of that is easly achievable.

Like Mansherry… "selfish, mean, capricious, and short-tempered" my ass. I should remember this and don't get hyped.

Being human is the standard in a common crew, SH included. Being a humanoid animal is Chopper's unique visual trait in there, so even being based on another animal a mink would overlap with him.
That said, we got two swordsmen, so who knows?

I was gonna say that that was only Leo's perspective due to the fact he doesn't understand flirting but then I recalled all the dwarves describing her in this sense so yeah….
-
But… it is only Leo's perspective. No other dwarf said it.
!
Then Kabu confirms that Leo thinks those things because of his obliviousness in Chapter 775.

no othert dwarf describe her that way..it's just leo's denseness
-
It doesn't matter. That was the only description we got of Mansherry and then we kept being reminded constantly of her existence during the whole arc. It doesn't matter if it was Leo's opinion on her, it was still how Oda presented the character to us and kept teasing us during the whole arc just to in the end she end up having no relevance whatsoever and her personality having nothing to do with what was hinted before.
That's what I mean with not getting hyped about Raizo being mentioned but not shown .

Are you sure about that?
Did you repress the part where she healed Law's arm, inadvertently stopped marines from obstructing everyone's escape from Dressrosa, as well as healed most of the injured civilians and SH fleet captains which contributed to prolonging the contracting of the bird cage?
A character introduced later into the arc ended up contributing more than a good portion of the ones that were introduced way earlier. -

Well, when I say a person mentioned and then not shown I mean for a long time. Mansherry, Kanjuro and others have been mentioned and appeared in the same arc basically… Raizou has been mentioned at the beginning of DR (he was jus one of the samurais at the time), then now at Zou and who knows maybe he won't be shown until the next arc...

Momonosuke, Kanjuro, and now Raizo have all been introduced this way. I think it's safe to say they are their own thing.
-
I wouldn't mind seeing a mink like Carrot be added to the crew if things play out in a good enough way. We already have Chopper as a fur covered friend, but I wouldn't mind another female crew member.

Brook is barely a human though, so there's very little to no visual overlap.

Well, but Raizou is clearly the one still missing so he's most definitely going to be an important character. I'm not saying he could join, but he's been hyped so much that he's probably gonna play a main role in the upcoming events…
(maybe hes' gonna end up being more useless then Pagaya or Pappug, but I doubt it...I hope... ;P ) -
If a Minkmen did join what crew position would they probably be?
My guess would be Lookout and/or Striker. A predatory feline cat as nightwatch fits the bill. coughPedrocough
The Strawhats as a whole crew need a better night watch system. Jinbe could watch underwater at night and the lookout who is nocturnal could watch from above. Maybe add Brook since he is undead. Does Brook sleep fully? A night trio? Could give last 3 crewmates to join more panel time to develop and flesh out.
Edit: Brook does sleep. Sharks can sleep and swim at same time. Oda stated in SBS in volume 74 that at least two people had to be awake during nightwatch. So a member who can sleep/swim and a nocturnal member would help the nightwatch system considerably.
-

Yeah, lookout would fit perfectly. Bariete could have that position, for example.

Raizo will be elephant ninja samurai with lighting attacks. He'll be a master of disguise, able to infiltrate any base as a spy and able to enter the room without being noticed, despite being big fat elephant (Elephant in the room).
-
We've already got an elephant sword, an elephant (mammoth) zoan, an elephant warlord, and an elephant island. How many more elephants do you want?
-
Sanji has been hyped as next SH for a while now: first Vergo, then Doflamingo, now the mink tribe… Don't even get me started on pre-time skip! Who knows if he'll be able to hang with Zoro and Luffy, but he'll definitely outclass the weakling trio. It's also a good pick story wise: Oda has left us pretty much in the dark as to his backstory, and it might be something really interesting!
Sanji for next SH, no doubts about it.

Are you sure? I think Duval fits the spot better. It just makes more sense.
