That was pretty decent. I'm personally looking forward more to PSX though.

I wonder what amoral bullshit Konami will pull at PSX.
-
Lot of drama happening over Mortal Kombat X. Characters were revealed for KP2 (Bo Rai Cho, 'Tri-Borg', Leatherface, and Xenomorph), and people are livid. None of them are characters people asked for (except Bo Rai Cho). A lot of people are mad after this award ceremony, and not because of the awards.
When is PSX?

I think people would be more forgiving if two of the four characters weren't guest characters.

Yeah. NRS really needs to cut that shit out.

Psychonauts 2 (maybe) being made is pretty cool. I think Doublefine is kind of using Kickstarter too much though. Like its name suggests, it's supposed to kickstart a company, not be used as a funding source of all your games. Yes, I know that Psychonauts 2's budget comes from like 5 places but still.
That jab at Kiefer by Jade was pretty funny. There was something else towards the beginning I thought was really funny too but I can't remember what it is right now.
Shame Kojima's under house arrest by Konami. The performance of Quiet's Theme was pretty good though. I was hoping it would segue into Sins of the Father considering that Donna Burke was apparently there too. Chvrches was better than I was expecting them to be since I'd heard they aren't very good live but they sounded fine to me.
Not too many of the world premieres were interesting to me though. Was hoping for Dishonored 2 gameplay but nope.

Well, Tim Schafer's mission in using crowdfunding has always been to stay independent of big publishers, considering how they got jerked around so much with Psychonauts and Brutal Legend.
-
Point is the crowdfunding shouldn't be used for every single game you make. Where are the profits from the other games going? Crowfunding is nice but you seem like kind of a freeloader if you use it for every game. I forgot he's using Fig or whatever this time and not Kickstarter though. Also they already are having an "external partner" in on the game which I imagine will act similar to a publisher. This seems like more of that using crowfunding for "gauging interest" bullshit. There's more and more crowdfunding games having publisher backing too which I see as an abuse of the platform.
Also I remember the other funny part I mentioned before. When Troy Baker was up he said it was pretty easy to become a video game voice actor. Step 1: Get a good microphone. Step 2: "Wait for me and Nolan North to die".

I can't wait for Poker Night 3 with Joker and Bigby.

What happened to the X-bone thread?

What happened to the X-bone thread?
Looks like it was unstickied quite some time ago. It's still here though.
-
When is the event that they announce character of the year?
-
When is the event that they announce character of the year?
That would be the Spike Video Game Awards (VGX in 2013). That was discontinued last year, and the producer of it went on to found The Game Awards for this year, which doesn't have that category.
-
What happened to the X-bone thread?
A whole bunch of sticky threads were unstickied the other day to remove clutter. (The general section had like 9 things stickied, so the entire top of the page was just stuck items)
Xbone hadn't had a post since August, and prior to that its only real activity in years was when the 180 came out and there was a ton of spite towards it. Otherwise its generally a dead thread compared to the others.

For anyone interested, Indivisible is having a live stream until the end of their crowdfunding campaign
(hasn't started yet though)
-
Interesting. IndieGogo's In Demand system, which I assume if a game is fully funded… can keep getting money from backers, even now. So, even if they are currently shy of two other stretch goals, they can still reach them. Pretty cool! Here's hoping one of these days it hits the bonus dungeon one since that's the one being relavant to my interests. Mike mentioned on a stream how he really liked the Cave of Trials in Star Ocean 2, and it's great considering you don't see alot of indies mentioning the games at all or taking inspiration from them(but considering the battle system is based off one of tri-Ace's other games, I can't be surprised).
So cool!

Epic Games is offering Shadow Complex Remastered for free (for a limited time, PC only). You can download it from here but it requires you to load their own launcher and create an account, sadly.

Apparently Kojima has left Konami finally and is going to form a new studio
-
Konami gave him a vacation and he repays with this :/
-
-
This is a good thing. He can finally do something different. I wonder if Konami owns Snatcher or Policenauts because it would be cool to get something new from those. Though a new IP would be ideal.
Also where is the above gif from?
-
-
It looks like he's about to cry.

A (terrible) movie called The Forgotten. Don't bother watching it though, it's better to keep it living up to it's namesake.
Anyway, I'm super happy for Kojima, and I'm super happy Sony jumped to the opportunity to create this with him. I'm ok with Konami keeping the MGS rights since that story is pretty much done (as far as I'm aware, haven't finished V yet), and I hope Konami doesn't try to expand on it. But hey, they probably will because $. I enjoyed MGS for what it was, and I especially liked most of the games Kojima headed, so I'm excited to see what new project he'll present.

Coleco (makers of Colecovision) is making a new cartridge based console the Coleco Chameleon

Steam winter sale has started. Pretty much the same stuff at the same discounts as it was… three weeks ago in the fall sale.
-
I think that is what youngsters nowadays says "shit hit the fan".
-
After nearly a week, they've finally addressed it publicly.

Apparently the Steam sales has something hidden within the steam sale
-
Amazon Prime now has a new benefit. Every pre-ordered or newly released game will be 20% off, as long as you have prime. The games will stay discounted until 2 weeks after release.
-
That's pretty freaking amazing, not gonna lie.
Edit: wow, it even applies to amiibos from the looks of it. I have Lucas and some other games pre-ordered and it says it will automatically apply to already-existing orders but I don't see evidence of that yet.
-
Preordering is the devil. Don't give in.:ninja:
-
Goddamn it, I had to stop using prime super recently ago and now this happens. T_T

EA has opened up the "Origin Access" program on PC (it's similar to the service they have on Xbox One). For $5 a month, you get access to a moderate selection of their games, access to free trials for new games, and 10% off all Origin purchases.
https://www.origin.com/en-us/store/origin-access
It's tempting to me for Dragon Age: Inquisition alone.
-
Witness is coming out tomorrow unbelievably hyped. It's the game I need right now that said I need to survive 2 weeks of exams first.

Insomniac Games announces Song of the Deep, an underwater Metroidvania coming to PS4, XBOX One and Steam in Summer 2016.
[hide]More artwork found at Polygon[/hide]
Looks promising, I'm glad other developers are aware of the demand for more Metroidvanias since Nintendo and Capcom clearly don't.
-
I wasn't aware people wanted more metroidvania games as opposed to them wanting more sidecrolling platform esque games as if their weren't enough of those in the 80s/90s.
-
Here's a pretty cool behind the scenes video on the making of Battletoads' OST.

Everyone wants a Metroidvania rather than just a sidescroller.
It being done well is the trick.
Indies are certainly scratching that itch though.
Axiom Verge is the best Metroid game in years, and Freedom Planet is the best Sonic game since the Genesis.

I liked guacamele, short as it was.

This post is deleted!

Another Steam sale started today. This time it's the Lunar New Year Sale.
-
They'll just go with any old reason to have a sale at this point, won't they? Your winter sale was like a month ago guys! And your fall sale was three weeks before that!
-
It's steam first time in chinesse market as a whole though, no reason to not double dip.
-
Just saw this and had to share it for hilarity
-
Finally picked up Crypt of the Necrodancer from the Steam Sale for the very low price of
Corn!$5!
