I just thought about something, we have 11 supernovas, if you remove luffy and zoro, we have 9 supernovas remaining, mugiwara crew members are 9…, so I Thought that maybe defeating the pirates of the worst generation may be a valuable addition to the crew of the future King of Pirates track record?

They weren't a group called the "eleven supernovas". They were just the eleven individual supernovas that were here on that day.
It was the name of the group. It's even in the chapter title of 498. It's then explained further in that chapter.
The supernovas are a group for meeting on that very specific day as rookies. It already weird to group Blackbeard with rookies but when you think the guy was actually a shichibukai at the time and a new world vetran that never met with the supposed group I founded it a ridiculous way to link Blackbeard and Luffy.
You're thinking of the "Worst Generation" here. Blackbeard is a "rookie" in the sense that he was completely hidden and unknown to most of the world before getting the Yami Yami no Mi. Therefore, he's part of that generation because that's when he became known to the world.
That's seems quite a vague description to only fit 12 people.
It's because they were the only 12 pirates we know of, that were "new" to world, who did notable things in that time period.
And it's believable. There really aren't that many pirates that cause as much trouble as the Worst Generation have.
-
The 11 Supernovas = Worst Generation, the specific group of Super Rookies that hasn't entered the New World. (Pre-timeskip)
Super Rookie = Any pirate that attained a bounty of 100,000,000 before entering the New World. -
The 11 Supernovas = Worst Generation, the specific group of Super Rookies that hasn't entered the New World. (Pre-timeskip)
The Eleven Supernovas are a part of the Worst Generation. If the Worst Generation was just supposed to be those eleven, Blackbeard would not be part of it.
Super Rookie = Any pirate that attained a bounty of 100,000,000 before entering the New World.
Yep, and the eleven who were infamous at around the same time, and who were on the Sabaody Archipelago at the same time before the timeskip are known as the Eleven Supernovas.
-
Okay now I fully understand, it makes sense but what a headache, damnit Oda. The whole concept is messy, and for what, hype?
-
Okay now I fully understand, it makes sense but what a headache, damnit Oda. The whole concept is messy, and for what, hype?
Super Rookie = A pirate with a 100 + million bounty in their first year of piracy.
The Eleven Supernovas = 11 Super Rookies who reached the Sabondy Archipelago at the same time.
The Worst Generation = The Eleven Supernovas+ Blackbeard. Not that complex, really.

@Galaxy:
It was the name of the group. It's even in the chapter title of 498. It's then explained further in that chapter.
It wasn't a group but the number of supernovas present. The chapter got that name thanks to the grandma talking about their number in that same chapter and having their presentation. The only group name they have(in-unvierse) is worst generation.
You're thinking of the "Worst Generation" here. Blackbeard is a "rookie" in the sense that he was completely hidden and unknown to most of the world before getting the Yami Yami no Mi. Therefore, he's part of that generation because that's when he became known to the world.
And his first act was becoming a shichibukai(member of the balance of power) while the rest where still a bunch of young upstarts. So grouping a shichibukai that was sailing n WB ship with a bunch of rookies was always a weird choice. The worst generation works because they shared one defining moment at the archipelago. Throwing Blackbeard in it never made much sense.
It's because they were the only 12 pirates we know of, that were "new" to world, who did notable things in that time period.
And it's believable. There really aren't that many pirates that cause as much trouble as the Worst Generation have.
Notable would be Luffy and Blackbeard. And grandma said they were eleven on that day not that they weren't anyone else in the sea with as big of a name that passed 2 weeks ago or something.
Believable that Blackbeard would be grouped together with the rookies of that one day, when he became a big player instantly. Not to me.
-
Marines marketing department trying to make light of him?
He started to be relevant the same year as them, independently of his past, hell the rookies were more notable and known that him until he delivered ace.
-

And that's where the group name came from. Again, "The Eleven Supernovas" are the eleven pirates who were on the Sabaody Archipelago at the same time. It's the name Oda gave to them then and there.
You're acting like it's an unofficial term or something.
He was thrown in it because that's when he rose to infamy and became known to the world. His actions were part of the problems that the Worst Generation caused.
Notable would be Luffy and Blackbeard. And grandma said they were eleven on that day not that they weren't anyone else in the sea with as big of a name that passed 2 weeks ago or something.
They all did notable things before the timeskip. That's why they all had bounties and is why they were notable to mention in the first place.
I'm not sure why it's hard to believe that those ten pirate crews were the only ones to make such a big name for themselves in that time period. Not every crew is a power player.
Believable that Blackbeard would be grouped together with the rookies of that one day, when he became a big player instantly. Not to me.
It's believable because he rose to infamy at the same time as them. That's why he's part of it.
Blackbeard was always obviously more experienced and more powerful than the other members of the Worst Generation. That's why he was able to become such a big player so fast.
-
The eleven supernova, the monster trio, these are private things that one person uses, not the way that the world knows these characters.
-
@Galaxy:
And that's where the group name came from. Again, "The Eleven Supernovas" are the eleven pirates who were on the Sabaody Archipelago at the same time. It's the name Oda gave to them then and there.
They were not considered a group on the archipelago. The chapter was called eleven supernova because with the 9 other supernovas introduction that took half the chapter, there was eleven supernovas on the archipelago. The term was never used to describe them as a group like "yonko" or "strawhat" or any other group out there.
You're acting like it's an unofficial term or something.
It was never an official one in the story, anyway. Maybe when it comes to one piece goodies it is. Worst Generation is the group title and it includes Blackbeard.
He was thrown in it because that's when he rose to infamy and became known to the world. His actions were part of the problems that the Worst Generation caused.
Before the war, Blackbeard was already a veteran and his infamy directly put him on him on the established power(shichibukai) when the rest was still trying to do their proofs.
After war, Blackbeard was still a veteran with a crew of veteran with established power and a serious contender to being a yonko while the others even two years later are still fighting to be taken seriously by the big names.
Grouping them together seems ridiculous to me.They all did notable things before the timeskip. That's why they all had bounties and is why they were notable to mention in the first place.
I'm not sure why it's hard to believe that those ten pirate crews were the only ones to make such a big name for themselves in that time period. Not every crew is a power player.
Because grandma said: Because she did not say Today by an incredibly coincidence all the big rookie from the first half are here. She said Today the count of people with a bounty of 100M+ is 11.
It's believable because he rose to infamy at the same time as them. That's why he's part of it.
Veteran vs rookie, Shichibukai vs trying to make their proof, already expert in NW vs newcomers. He is so different from the rest that it seems ridiculous to me they would ever be grouped together. But it seems we disagree on that.
Blackbeard was always obviously more experienced and more powerful than the other members of the Worst Generation. That's why he was able to become such a big player so fast.
Except the new genration is suppose to be a bunch of upstart not an established like blackbeard was from the get go.
-
Before the war, Blackbeard was already a veteran and his infamy directly put him on him on the established power(shichibukai) when the rest was still trying to do their proofs.
He was relatively unknown until he captured Ace (but had experience). That's the only reason he was able to infiltrate the Warlords.
After war, Blackbeard was still a veteran with a crew of veteran with established power and a serious contender to being a yonko while the others even two years later are still fighting to be taken seriously by the big names.
His standing as a bigger power player really doesn't matter to his grouping though.
Grouping them together seems ridiculous to me.
But it really isn't. What matters in the grouping is the time period when all of these pirates became known to the world. You can't say that Blackbeard didn't make a name for himself at the same time, can you?
Because grandma said: Because she did not say Today by an incredibly coincidence all the big rookie from the first half are here. She said Today the count of people with a bounty of 100M+ is 11.
But now we know post timeskip that only those pirates are part of the Worst Generation. If there were any others that reached the same level of infamy as the Eleven Supernovas + Blackbeard, they would've been incorporated in somehow.
Veteran vs rookie, Shichibukai vs trying to make their proof, already expert in NW vs newcomers. He is so different from the rest that it seems ridiculous to me they would ever be grouped together. But it seems we disagree on that.
It's all about when they all started to become known pirates, and the actions they took afterwards. The Worst Generation title has nothing to do with experience.
Brownbeard even explains this:
!
Except the new genration is suppose to be a bunch of upstart not an established like blackbeard was from the get go.
He technically was an upstart. Pre timeskip, he started his own crew and started causing trouble in the world. Before that, he was practically a hidden nobody.
Overall, I think you're just attaching too much importance to him being experienced. The Worst Generation was described in story as the pirates who've caused the biggest problems in the world, and Blackbeard fits that persona just fine.
-
It's alright Luffy, scientists got yo back: http://phys.org/news/2015-09-toward-tires-that-repair-themselves.html
-
@Galaxy:
He was relatively unknown until he captured Ace (but had experience). That's the only reason he was able to infiltrate the Warlords.
Seems you misunderstood my words. His first act of infamy is too become part of the established power(since getting the position and Ace defeat were announced together). Comparing a shichibukai to rookies is in my opinion ridiculous.
His standing as a bigger power player really doesn't matter to his grouping though.
There is also being more experienced, A crew, being already an established power, Not being part of the supernovas, Not being at the arcipelago, not having to do his proofs… I think that's plenty reason for not grouping them together
It's basically those 10 young pirates trying to prove they are the real deal and that guy that is already experienced and is already the real deal.
10 dudes trying to make the big guns understand they mean business and that one yonko. But it really isn't. What matters in the grouping is the time period when all of these pirates became known to the world. You can't say that Blackbeard didn't make a name for himself at the same time, can you?
Well I see a difference between a shichibukai returning to the NW and a bunch of rookies that will have to work to make a name in that new sea.
You mean the two years? Blackbeard already had a name with his shichibukai title and was already a player while the others still had to make a name and make
their proofs(which they did during the 2 years). But now we know post timeskip that only those pirates are part of the Worst Generation. If there were any others that reached the same level of infamy as the Eleven Supernovas + Blackbeard, they would've been incorporated in somehow.
Which is thanks to the weird grouping or else Luffy who disappeared during that time period wouldn't be part of it.
Boney is even passing her time in hiding.
So it is literally the elevenfrom that time + Blackbeard. It's all about when they all started to become known pirates, and the actions they took afterwards. The Worst Generation title has nothing to do with experience.
Brownbeard even explains this:
Blackbeard don't fit the first half. Luffy,Zoro, Bonney don't fit the second half.
I could even argue Law who just decided to seat and wait before entering but that would be called nitpicking.
I am attached to them him and the 11 being different on to many levels.
Can we agree that the group "Eleven supernovas" doesn't exist and the only group they ever formed was the worst generation? Because that was the debate at the start and Blackbeard is not something we are going to agree on.
-
Seems you misunderstood my words. His first act of infamy is too become part of the established power(since getting the position and Ace defeat were announced together). Comparing a shichibukai to rookies is in my opinion ridiculous.
All he did was make a power play to get where he wanted faster, but he became infamous at the same time as the other members of the Worst Generation.
His status and power do not matter. He's compared to them because he was around at the same time as them.
There is also being more experienced, A crew, being already an established power, Not being part of the supernovas, Not being at the arcipelago, not having to do his proofs… I think that's plenty reason for not grouping them together
10 dudes trying to make the big guns understand they mean business and that one yonko. His experience is the only difference from the other members of the Worst Generation. He still had to sail across the Grand Line and make a name for himself, but was able to do it faster because he knew how it works. That's literally the only difference between him and the rest.
It's basically those 10 young pirates trying to prove they are the real deal and that guy that is already experienced and is already the real deal.
He also had to prove himself. Go back and read the Warlord conference during Jaya, and you'll see that not a single one of the people there knew who he was. All he had was the experience to know how to gain recognition fast, but he still had to work to do it.
He's no different from them otherwise.
They all traveled into the New World at around the same time and caused even more trouble. Blackbeard wasn't instantly a Yonkou when he entered the New World. He still had to go take over islands and build his fleet and influence.
Again though, you're misinterpreting what being in the Worst Generation even means.
Which is thanks to the weird grouping or else Luffy who disappeared during that time period wouldn't be part of it.
Boney is even passing her time in hiding.
So it is literally the elevenfrom that time + Blackbeard.Luffy is part of it due to his actions before the timeskip. He took down two Warlords, took down Enies Lobby, punched a Celestial Dragon, and invaded Impel Down and Marineford. The Worst Generation encompasses their actions before, during, and after the timeskip.
Disappearing doesn't disqualify them as members of the time period.
Blackbeard don't fit the first half. Luffy,Zoro, Bonney don't fit the second half.
I could even argue Law who just decided to seat and wait before entering but that would be called nitpicking. They all fit. It's about all of their actions before, during, and now after the timeskip. It doesn't matter if they disappeared, and it doesn't matter if they didn't make their move right away.
And there's no way Law doesn't fit your definition. We know he did plenty during the timeskip, such as the "Rocky Port Incident", and the delivery of 100 hearts to the Marines.
I am attached to them him and the 11 being different on to many levels.
But he isn't different from them on anything but experience. It's all about the time period in which they all gained notoriety and became famous, and he fits in just fine to that.
Overall, you're just mistaking what being in the "Worst Generation" even means. It's literally "The pirates who all became infamous at the same time and caused problems around the world". The way you're saying Blackbeard doesn't fit in with that because of experience just isn't relevant, because that doesn't matter to the classification.
Can we agree that the group "Eleven supernovas" doesn't exist and the only group they ever formed was the worst generation? Because that was the debate at the start and Blackbeard is not something we are going to agree on.
It's still a group though. Just not a group used in the actual series, but it's used by Oda and out of universe for sure.

Which is all I was saying.
But out of curiosity when did Oda ever used the term(not counting the chapter name)?

But out of curiosity when did Oda ever used the term(not counting the chapter name)?
The volume is also titled "The Eleven Supernovas" Yes, it's based on the chapter name, but the titles both group them in that special way. There's no reason to think it isn't a classification. (The "the" is very important here).
While not spoken about in the series by characters, it exists as an entity the reader is aware of.

Well if it's only used by Oda on those 2 instance I will continue to consider it a fanon rather than an official term. But it was still an interesting discussion.
-
If he doesn't consider it canon why did he essentially make it an official group by redubing them The Worst Generation? Obviously he felt they're apart of a special class before that, he even had Doflamingo single them out last chapter as a world power along with the Marines, Yonko, Shichibukai and Revolutionaries.
-

Because he decided to make them a real group.

Sure. Now they are the worst generation.

This forum is so shit. Arlong park is in East Blue we're in the new world now it's like you're stuck in the middle ages fucking weabos

I'm with the mindset that the reverie will be when all the gears go haywire.

The eleven supernova, the monster trio, these are private things that one person uses, not the way that the world knows these characters.
Well I don't know about that, maybe not everyone in the world but not everyone in the world knows even what Luffy looks like.
I've seen characters call the M3 monster trio, recent example being Caribou on the way to fishman island.

I was browsing the web and ended up on a thread where a guy asked to get spoiled after alabasta.
Someone replied with this, didn't know what thread to put it in, it's a good laugh.
they go to heaven and luffy beats up god, robin betrays the crew, Luffy, Zoro, Sanji all beef up fighting Zoo animals, Usopp quits the crew and becomes a true HERO, the crew adds a pervert cyborg who runs on soda, Luffy then gets beat up by his grandad who is hanging out with some old friends.
they then get lost in the bermuda triangle and run into a ghost ship. They meet a gentlemen on the crew who has no shadow. They then get caught, and find out they are stuck on a huge cruise ship that is infested with zombies, Nami almost gets raped, Chopper meets a life long role model, Usopp is scared alot. Zoro, Sanji and Luffy all get caught and turned to zombies. They then fight a giant Luffy Zombie, and Luffy then goes blue hulk and beats up the guy who was controlling the Zombies. Suddenly a Cyborg shows up and beats up everyone trying to kill luffy, Zoro gives his life up so Luffy can live.
Next they end up at a gaint wall they can not pass, and run into a mermaid and a talking starfish who is a designer. They get eaten and kidnapped alot because mermaids are very high priced slaves. The mermaid and starfish hang out with a octopus fishmen, they have to get their ship put into a giant bubble to go under the big wall and go unto the NEW WORLD!!! so they head to do that with the mermaid, starfish and octopus, the mermaid gets kiddnapped. We meet 11 bad ass rookies pirates who are all there at the same time, these dudes are sweet, One can turn into a fuckng t-rex, another is a bad ass bunch of instruments, one control everything within a bubble, one is a scarecrow who has voodo powers, one who's body is a castle with tons of men in him(the ladies love this one) one is like magneto from xmen and so on and so on. The straw hats save the mermaid by beating up some royal family twats with the help of Gold Rogers 1st mate. They attempt talk about the OP, LUFFY SAYS FUCK THAT, Ill FIND IT ON MY OWN!!, an admiral of the marine shows up with some cyborgs and start recking shit, dude has light powers and can not be touched. Luffy and crew get totally beat down and all sent to different parts of the world.
Luffy lands on an island of women and runs into a warlord who has the love love fruit, she falls for Luffy hard, luffy finds out his brother got caught and is going to be executed. So the warlord gets him into a prison and Luffy runs into some old friends, they fight a poison guy and run into blackbeard the pirate, they then learn the the group of pirates Ace is part of is going to attack the execution ground. Luffy makes a large group of friends and escapes the prison and head to where Ace is being killed. ALL OF THE FUCKING MARINES are there, and so is all of Aces crew, they start fighting, super bad ass, Luffy and his large group also enter then fight and yada, yada yada, Shanks shows up and ends the fight.
Then comes the new world. -
That's the best out of context synopsis.
-
LoL I like how Usopp and Zoro are never mentioned again after "Usopp quits the crew and becomes a true HERO" and " Zoro gives his life up so Luffy can live".
Like they actually left the story -
I really really hope that either big mom or kaido work for the government, since shanks is just carrying the will forward and teach is a D.
It seems strange to me, that in a world where EVERYBODY is trying to get to raftel, the government, most afraid that anyone would get there, doesn't enact some kind of obstacles for the pirates not to get there.
Would be cool if one of the yonkou worked for the government to create this stalemate position the pirates are in so that no one could reach raftel.
Otherwise would be quite idiotic you know, having 800 years, and well, not trying to stop pirates there.
Sengoku which striked me as one of the most powerful characters in the story on the same generation as Garp Roger Whitebeard, someone from recent chapters who has understanding of the world, and the D. Same can be said about Aokiji.
And I just cannot grasp why those men help the government, are they brain washed, or are they afraid of what the collapse of basically "the world" will bring forth and hence just comply with the WG and are happy with what they have?

that would be one of the most nonsensical plot twists in the manga.
we really don't know where raftel is or why isn't reachable, but if no one got there in 20 years..i think whatever the WG might try to put as an obstacle would be redundandalso..the WG is not trying to stop people to reach raftel, they have no interest in who becomes king of pirates, and since they have never been on raftel, they don't know if there's something related to the void century,in fact we don't know either
and last but not least, the WG can do shit since the NW is the reign of the yonkou (thus the name)..they are not free to act in what are probably just yonkou's territories
as for the whole why help the WG..well..they are the good guys..they are the central government who tries to keep the order in a world filled with pirates..it might not be a perfect organization..but it's not like siding with pirates or revolutionaries would make things better…of course there are some nutjobs like akainu or some of the VA who are probably brainwashed by propaganda..but in the end a corrupt government that keeps order is better than pirate anarchy

IF Kaidou supposedly has a devil fruit, why doesn't he just be audacious enough to eat another if he so sorely wishes to kill himself?

IF Kaidou supposedly has a devil fruit, why doesn't he just be audacious enough to eat another if he so sorely wishes to kill himself?
I don't think he really sorely wishes to die tbh.
He seems more curious than anything.
Is there actually anything out there that can kill me?
Just eating a second devil fruit would be pretty boring for him, I imagine.
Or maybe he's actually eaten 1000 zoan fruits already, hence his epithet :ninja:
-
why did smoker growth slow so much? his fight with vergo and law and joker, all seem to show his biggest problem as to why he is so weak seems to be his mastery or lack of mastery of his fruit. things that should have be avoidable he took it to his loss. I wonder if vegapunk has something like the magical chambers in Dbz,( where a year passes in one day) will Smoker leave his visit to Vegapunk's island a new man? hope he stays relevant.
becuase as far as marines are concerned, i think apart from large fleets at this point it would be surprising if apart from, the fleet admiral, admirals and Smoker(themselves) any single active marine tries to tackle the strawhat in the way of one vice admiral and his lackey's, or lesser rank soildiers.
But mabe that was so when the Strawhats finally came back with the amount of Rear admirals ect they amassed, mabe all of The new g1 except he vice admiral in charge there moved.

Just when I thought Oda is going to take it easy with the New World like he did with the Paradise, this arc is starting to prove me wrong. The New World Sega is slowly becoming an dark survival story at this point. Guess Oda's not kidding around

why did smoker growth slow so much? his fight with vergo and law and joker, all seem to show his biggest problem as to why he is so weak seems to be his mastery or lack of mastery of his fruit. things that should have be avoidable he took it to his loss.

I see Coby doing something.
What exactly I'm not to sure, but with his unlocking of Haki he's got potential. May just get oneshotted again, but I think he has grown exponentially since we last saw him .

I think it's more lacking overall, not just a fruit abilities. Vergo had a much stronger haki than him and Doflamingo totally owned him in speed. He couldn't even beat Law in the sword battle. If Oda want's to keep him relevant, he indeed need some kind of power up. Other good option is that Cody takes his place, which im really open minded with.

coby won't take Smoker place but like@ Sh Avenger said he will do something i agree, however strawhat is not the bad kind of pirates as he himself states. of course coby has no reason not to meet up wih the crew. But as far as actively seeking to apprehend, na. That said i can't picture Coby ever being a match for Luffy, or Zoro or even Sanji one on one. I do think he too will be legendary just not on Luffy et al scale.
yeah, Smoker can improve in Haki, and perhaps kendo or swordmanship with his juttle(sp?), speed not neccesarily so, but even with or without haki, those things like punches and Joker threads can be avoided in a similar fashion to Aokije against Whitebeard or Kizaru, i am yet to see even a bruise on Kizaru, mabe in that picture wih Akainu clipping that plant, and wih Rayleigh but otherwise. It should not be this easy to hit Smoker, i think. but yes he is lacking overall, his punches seem too light, no damge like others we have seen in one piece. I think Smokers relevance will somewhat depend on Admiral Greenbull…. intuition mabe.

This is just my (maybe even fanboysh) view/hope, but im waiting Coby to be some kind of wild card in the future. Truth is we don't really know shit about him and how far he can go. He has been in the shadows like decades now, which might mean: A: He is a less relevant to the storyline and will be. B: Oda is building something big for him, kind of like BB. Oda has stated before that he likes to make weak characters strong, and Coby no doubt has shown that he has been those both. He's kenbunshoku haki and growth overall to this point is something Smoker could not even imagine. Cobys past seem always haunt him, so it's easy to judge that he has not that big meaning in the end.
What about Smoker? It's about the time to get even some kind of backstory about him. We all know he is here to stay, but how important he really is when watching the final arcs? It's a really big dissapointment that he couldn't even find some kind of new smoke type or something which could upgrade his power. Guy is pretty much repeating same panel with same phrases over and over again. He's kind of a dull now and Oda knows that. There need's to be other relevant future marine character who will change the organization with Smoker, and i think Coby could be that guy, even in a role far important than Smokers. I think we'll see the suprise when Coby get's Luffy to the serious trouble. That drama is made to happen. How and why? Because that is so Oda.

Coby's going to be an Admiral, and a match for anyone in the world. Not saying he'd beat them, but he'd certainly be able to fight every member of the M3.

That would be an good epilogue chapter.

sure admiral or legend i think so too, but remember when luffy fought Kuzan, he was no match. but do you really think the admirals in the Marinford war would have been a match for Roger, Rayleigh and Edward in their Younger days? Coby is growing mabe even Quicker than Luffy but Luffy and the others are as well, they are not stagnant, the gap as shown was tremendous even before the skip, at the rate the strawhats are going and for the purpose of the story will Coby catch up even when he attains the rank of admiral? That would be a surprise to me, but hey Oda does give them, his story.

Those that are weak tend to grow at a more exponential rate then those that are strong. Similar to say pokemon, its easier to level up at level 5 then it is at say 55. But I agree I don't think he's even near Luffy or even Sanji.
He's an original in the OP world, he's the first guy to find Luffy, and the first one changed and reborn due to his influence. He also had a major appearance during the war, and his interruption of battle saved countless lives. He's going to be a player in the events to come.
He's going to stand up to Luffy once he sees him to test his mettle, but I don't think its going to be a crazy fight either.
Personally I think he takes Garp's mantle as a new hero of the marines. I don't think he's at VA level yet, but I'm sure he's moved up the ranks, possibly Rear Admiral? Depends on his grasp of Haki, but it seems his Kenboshuku(?) is very powerful. Not even accounting for a devil fruit, although it seems he may follow in Garp's footsteps and not have one.

Coby is currently a Captain. As revealed in the Volume 68 SBS.

not bad that's doing well for yourself in the marines.

That just sounds like more reason for him to disprove the devil fruit myth. Wouldn't it be possible for him to have a shapeshifting devil fruit, like the king of Zoans? Or would that be too OP for OP?

@LordEnel:
It seems strange to me, that in a world where EVERYBODY is trying to get to raftel, the government, most afraid that anyone would get there, doesn't enact some kind of obstacles for the pirates not to get there.
Well aside from the Marines you mean?
If you mean the New World itself, I think the idea is that the Emperors are so strong that the government is essentially on near equal standing with them in terms of power. In other words, the government CAN'T project it's power that deep into the Grand Line. Obviously if they could they would.
That I think is where the Balance of Power concept comes in, lacking the ability to penetrate that deeply the government instead happily maintains a sort of cold war where the emperors are stuck in a four way Mexican stand off.Would be cool if one of the yonkou worked for the government to create this stalemate position the pirates are in so that no one could reach raftel.
You have the right idea, but it just doesn't really make much sense unless we're talking corruption on some super high level. Where the government is bribing one of the four. I'd maybe buy that, but straight up working for the government as an undercover pirate not so much.
I don't think they necessarily need to control a Yonkou to maintain the cold war situation between them. They can manipulate events in small ways around them to keep a situation they find favorable.Otherwise would be quite idiotic you know, having 800 years, and well, not trying to stop pirates there.
Pretty sure they have been doing this though?
And I just cannot grasp why those men help the government, are they brain washed, or are they afraid of what the collapse of basically "the world" will bring forth and hence just comply with the WG and are happy with what they have?
Couple possibilities.
1. Pirates are genuinely seen as evil by probably lots of people. And well some of them are in fact genuinely evil. It probably fits government propaganda to portray all pirates as evil. So that even friendly people like the Strawhats are demonized, and all pirates sailing toward Raftel become targets for the crimes of others.
2. The stability thing has truth in it. Even the Gorusei are not depicted thus far as truly evil exactly, or fanatical like Akainu. They didn't seem happy to order the killing of the Ohara scholars for instance. I think they genuinely believe that they're protecting the world from something. -

I think people are a bit unfair with Smoker. It's true Oda overdid it by giving him a pitiful performance of 3 losses out of 3 fight since his reappearance during Punk Hazard, and that kinda sucks, but out of those 3 the only curbstomb was against Doflamingo who's supposed to be a beast. Smoker was pretty even against Law and actualy seemed to have the upper hand against Vergo until Oda decided that fight was for Law to finish.
What you say about his fruit mastery, you mean when Vergo mocked him for not using his fruit properly? That was on purpose. It was a distraction maneuver Smoker did to give Law his heart back, even though that meant putting himself directly in harm's way. I didn't like it, but that's the way it was written, Smoker basically forfeited the fight so Law could get his heart because honour and duty and yadda yadda. Smoker's DF control has never been questioned in the manga.

As we get deeper into the plot, I, myself at some point started to believe that maybe, just maybe, raftle is an island that appears every X amount of time in a certain area rather then the mostly speculated no magnetic field type of island.

I would say that NO ONE speculates that Raftel has no magnetic field, not anymore. Actually I shouldn't say that as Raftel probably doesn't. I would say that no one speculates that that is the primary reason it can't be found.
