This chapter was completelt awesome, except for the last spread lol. I wouldn't have even minded it, if we hadn't seen Another swim away last chapter lol.
Maybe it's a tease, maybe time for a flashback… I don't know. But still, what happened to the whale? Back channel? Another? The opponent chefs were with them? This screams flashback.

That's going to be a huge butt flashback though,exciding the 20 chapters mark….I don't know,it seems so unlikely though...The weird way Mashima chose to tell things instead of the classic way,negates the purpose of having a flashback in the first place.I don't know what has gotten into Mashima all of a sudden.

I hope too, man. All will depend of what happens next chapter. This is the first time I've seen such a style of narrative and I think I'm getting used to it, but please, author, you better show us everything through one huge flashback.

I hope too, man. All will depend of what happens next chapter. This is the first time I've seen such a style of narrative and I think I'm getting used to it, but please, author, you better show us everything through one huge flashback.
Yeah, it really feels like a turning point for the series, in several ways. How Toriko proceeds now, after Blue Grill, will likely tell us the modus operandi for the remainder of the story. Will we get arcs for the different areas, or are we truly barreling towards Endgame?

Even if we do in fact get a good flashback of what happened, I don't like how this went. We had chapters building up the competition, setting things up, then the last bunch of chapters went in a completely different direction. If next chapter returns the cooking tournament stuff, we as readers have to readjust and remember what was going on before.
I also don't like this sudden "Toriko has this hidden power in him that allows him to take on one of the 8 kings". It really makes it feel that the author realized Toriko was too underpowered, and now he has to take on one of the 8 kings to have a chance with the final battle coming up. There's fast paced, then there's this. Also, I don't want people arguing that this was foreshadowed in some way, because foreshadowed does not make something good. Even if there was a hint of this power it still feels sudden and rushed.
Despite the cool spreads we've had in the last bunch of chapters, I feel quite dissatisfied overall not with just the recent stuff, but the gourmet world continues to degrade as I think about it.

I feel like a flashback is coming for two reasons. 1: Another disappeared into the back channel last chapter, hinting once again the chefs need to go there. Now, all of a sudden, that is skipped? Foreshadowing from 100 chapters ago not coming back, I can imagine. Foreshadowing from 1 chapter before? Yeah, that is gonna be shown.
2: Some of the 10-shell chefs are shown in the spread as the 'good guys' and something about Don is being teased. There is no way we won't get more details on these matters.
If I'm mistaken, fine. If it's going to the endgame (hell, even Toriko said it this chapter), fine. But I really do expect more information before we really go to the end.

I must say the amount of salt is quite high. Yes, the skip is weird, but come on, do we have to repeat the same again and again each week? Yes, the pacing is quick, yes more details/exploring would be nice, we know that by now. How about we focus on some actual stuff, you know, the other stuff that was shown?
Like having explained what happened with Toriko or how he punched Guinness etc.

So after the uber hype the 8 Kings had, Toriko apparently was secretly as powerful as they were all along and only now it conveniently "switched on" and not when he was say about to die against Heracles or Bambina.
And that's not even getting to the total waste that was the tournament arc.
Shima has just clearly gotten sick of his manga at this point, that's cool, so have we, just put it out of its misery and let him move on to something he might be more invested in.

Ayway. Jirou's attack is named after the battlewolf. Neat reveal by the way. I was wondering why it was so little(only Bambina is human size normally). But it was simply the protegé.
So Toriko is suddenly able to fight the kings? I may hate it but I can't say I'm surprise.
If we have the choice between random and rushed, I rather go back to Jirou and Setsuno.

Took me a while, but I figured out why the author did this. The truth is, Don Slime aside, he just showed us a bunch of people and told us an obvious outcome.
But the real reason is the people themselves. Take a good look around. Why it does look like Komatsu, Rin, Wabutora, etc, aged a lot? How did Yun became so huge? And the Blue Grill chefs, they no longer look possessed. This screams flashback and we're eventually going to have it next chapter.

Not at all. Remember once Mappy said there was a door in Gourmet World that, upon entering it, makes you age at a much faster rate? The humans are one thing, but Yun is an adult Wall Penguin now, as big as its parents.
And in the previous chapter we were told ANOTHER travels at the speed of light. This cannot be coincidence.

You said it! Toriko's Blue Oni punched Heracles but then he was fucked up with one breathe. And Heracles is weaker than Guinness (Guinness has CL 6090, Bambina 6000 and Bambina is stronger than Heracles). So now it's normal Toriko punches Guinness that easily?
