Well, I am just going to throw the theory out that Frohze was the person Acacia originally kissed and drained to obtain PAIR. That was why she almost died, but their strength allowed them live or something. Then when she died for Midora, Acacia revived her via PAIR and then used "taste change" on her to turn her into "Joa". Maybe current Acacia is just a taste change'd Acacia and not really a bad guy, though I don't believe that, personally. Mostly because of that one time he cooperated with the blue nitros.
But then him being alive and presumably allied with the nitros raises questions:
Why is he still mostly young looking? How did he fake his death to his disciples? Not hard, but then what was Ichyruu implying to Midora before his death?
If he is allied with greedy nitros, why is did he share food with humans before? Seems nitros don't share much, given they branded their taste hermits as traitors.
Also seems Acacia's pursuit of food has pretty much stalled if all he has to wait for the next eclipse to do anything.
Also, as I mentioned before, pretty lolworthy that Midora will leave his main quest to Toriko, unless he needs to confirm the Acacia-blue nitro thing for himself. That is probably more important.
and why do we need Mr Fanservice, if hunters are useless in the next area? I heard he is supposedly a chef, but seriously he spends more time hunting than cooking, we've never seen him cook on-screen. Guess the next area is heavily dependent on chefs. Well, I don't particularly hate him anyway.
and yeah, not sure whether the "earth" is actually the ingredient EARTH, but much doubt it. Would have been diffcult to prepare when Acacia last made his full course. Makes sense though, given we know the rocks absorb energy, so eating the earth itself isn't farfetched.
A pretty good infodump chapter, makes up somewhat for the rushed pacing lately. But then this is Toriko, at best I only expect half of the rules/explanations to make sense, it's no Hunter X Hunter.

No, I actually think Soma fits that better.
In all seriousness, it's just an adventure series dressed up as a bunch of food hunting for about 200 chapters. Then like most other long running series they add the evil mastermind organisation plot, and that is where the series starts to fall apart with some pacing and questionable design issues. A halfway decent series, just don't expect some top tier writing.
