Funny thing, in one of the data books, it is mentioned Yami Yami Teach alone was originally going to be enough to take care of the original trio of admirals all at once. Take that how you want.

That stuff is less reliable than wikia.

Never read that… Is this true... I know databooks are doing some strange shit... But this? What databook are you talking about? Green?

This arc had like, 50 billions characters. I'm glad Burgess appeared out of nowhere and disappeared just as quickly. He's not the only thing that got brushed aside quickly this arc, ya'll know.
-
I don't like throwing the word around too much, but for all intents and purposes Burgess was practically fodderized.
Unlike the other guys you mentioned, Burgess wasn't actually shown putting Sabo through any kind of danger. Nor was there any recount of how Burgess did this and that to Sabo or how Sabo barely won. Burgess' attacks all missed, Sabo blew him away like 4 times. And at the end, Burgess is down and Sabo is clean as a whistle. The difference just seems to be too big.
The difference looked big even between Doflamingo and Sanji/ Smoker/ Law. Doflamigo just defeated Sanji in seconds, you can't think the difference is that high.
Oda tends to hype characters up, it's hard to judge clear the fights when you also have PIS around.

One of the main reasons why this arc was a train wreck.

One of the main reasons why this arc was a train wreck.
Reread it from the Land of Toys chapter. It's leagues better. The only unbearable thing was the constant Dressrosa flashbacks amidst important events. When I reread it a couple days ago, it was easier to enjoy knowing which characters to care about and which not to. I really recommend it, especially how the arc is dying down.
-
There is only one Dressrosa related flashback per volume. I wonder if Oda did it on purpose.

its only speculation, that blackbeard will kill shanks, though to be honest i doubt that possibility, if they said he would finish one of the two other yonko, or kill kizaru or greenbull, but kill shanks, irrespective of title, the BB crew will never surpass the redhair as long as they are alive, but they won't kill them unless some other power weakens them, at this point, im wondering will oda be come a one trick pony or will he target a much bigger fish, one closer to home to luffy in particular. Even the level six prisoners are hyped unreasonably high, like they supposed to be this invinsible fighting machines, these people are not even enough collectively against a dying whitebeard, and fighting prowness, is not the only possible reason why someone would be deemed so vile that their existence is hidden. Any body with strengh will look strong next to weaklins. Not saying the blackbeard pirates are not strong, but people like ASSUMING THEY WILL BE THE FINAL VILLAINS, AND THEY WILL KILL SHANKS. which is ok as long as people remember that is just their speculation of how things will go. Me am going to go more reserved, they will be the last yonko of those known now to be defeated in battle by the strawhats. I also think they are the most probable of the yonko crews to actually say RIP captain. Big mom and kaido will get beaten, shanks too might get beaten in battle by some one or ones, but i expect teach head to go off his body, unless oda surprises me and only whitebeard dies?
How cool would it be if maynard accidentally end up slashing burgess head, like a reflex to burgess surprising him? -
I've had a bad feeling that after Luffy beats shanks and his crew(if that ever happens) BB will come right after Luffy and Co. leave and finish off the exhausted crew, but I don't think the strawhats will go all out against the redhairs, it'll probably be some kind of a duel or sparring, nothing serious. It' just to show them that they're up there now. Hopefully there won't be a fight at all, I mean Just meeting Shanks in his own territory is a great feat already

I liked the little bit with the revolutionaries in the underground port. Fujitora's moment I like more and more the longer I think about it.
-
Today has been an insane day in the OP world.
Law and Luffy make an alliance.
Kidd, Apoo and Hawkins made an alliance.
Not only that Doflamingo renounced his status as Warlord. Then it was announced it was wrong information.
Then Doflamingo will be announced as no longer Warlord and was in fact the world's biggest underworld broker, defeated by the law and Luffy alliance.
Dressrosa destroyed, admiral bowing down.Shit happened guys.

Makes you almost want to sing we didn't start the fire.
-
Not to mention the skirmish between the Luffy/Law alliance and Big Mom.
Crap, we're totally going to hear about the outcome in tomorrow's paper.
-
Oh and forgot that Sabo and Luffy are connected. So revolutionary army, Luffy being a brother to Sabo and Dragon being Luffys father.
People are going to think Dragon had another son (the misinformed people).
Luffy being connected to the Revolutionaries might be theorized by the WG

It's fair to say the strawhats have started with a bang.
"The new generation will bring forth a tide".
Everything was peaceful and is also what Law really was telling Doflamingo 100 chapters ago.
Kaido will be pissed/ big mom on the move.I think we as fans have been trapped in the birdcage as well, now that it's gone, we will get a world view
-
Wonder how Blackbeard choose his ship captain cause it's sure as hell ain't by strength.
-
Simple! Blackbeard said, "Hey guys, who wants to be my First Ship Commander?"
Burgess jumped in first, "Me! Me! I'm the champ!"
So everyone said, "Sure you are, Burgess. Here, have a lollipop. You can have cherry or grape."
And Burgess chose cherry because he admires his captain. Teach-senpai is a great and generous man.
-
There is this expectation that Burgess who at best( he is not there yet) will be some jozu or ace should stand a chance with a guy that will be at the very top.
So it's like Akainu vs Ace or Jozu vs Aokiji.
-
Wonder how Blackbeard choose his ship captain cause it's sure as hell ain't by strength.
The first 4 division commanders are probably the first 4 recruited and most trusted.
-JB
-Augur
-Doc Q
-Lafitte
-The Shiliew and the rest of the level 6 recruits. -
After this chapter I think Kidd will become final villain
-
-
Why ? 16 I don't get it.
I think he's trying to make of fun of how weak Burgess is portrayed so probably poking fun at how Blackbeards crew (based on one member) aren't looking too hot. Perhaps there's an implied sarcasm in there. If he's serious I kind of share his delusions, Kid is too badass to not be there end game :p
-
Why ? 16 I don't get it.
At first I wasn't disappointed of jb after I checked forum …
and blackbeard himself isn't even strong enough with 2 df and whole crew he didn't even dare to challenge akainu he can be final boss with only stronger df that is why I hate and I really wanna know how did he put scar on shanks eye without any df
Kidd or someone else that we didn't see will be final boss -
Kidd being the final enemy would be like Boba Fett being Luke's last obstacle.
-
I see Kidd more like a rival then villain, even if he looks evil. Like Shiki for Roger.
-
Good chapter, finally some progress! I liked this one, don't have time to type a long reply so I'll save it for later.

Are you telling me the longest arc in all of One Piece is supposed to have happened within one day? Isn't that just a teeny bit rediculous?
-

The length of the arc has nothing to do with the amount of days for the Dressrosa incident
What do you think, that at one point the gang just took a nap after the Colosseum fights? This was one huge incident, with event after event unfolding, so yeah a short amount of time passednot debatable
-
Oh my this is undoubtedly the smartest thing Ive read on this forum. Patience is necessary in OP. It somehow all unravels itself in a big boom. Dressrosa seemed a little slow, yeah. but in the bigger scope of things, it should redeem itself.
I don't see this as much of a problem. In Banaro Island Blackbeard considered that even his entire crew put together was no match for Ace. Now we have a guy that we have to assume grew at around the same pace as Ace, a guy who could hold his own against an admiral two years ago. Sabo should be a monster. He can stand against an admiral and hold his ground, even though he is clearly outclassed when doing so.
What I'm saying is Burgess could have been a bigger challenge, sure, but story-wise it makes sense that Sabo is on a league above him. Maybe the story is setting up Burgess for growth, and eventually this moment will have it's payoff.
What I'm seeing Oda do lately is sacrifice the present of his manga to set up a billion things without explanation. He sets up confusing and often frustrating character arcs that may pay off much much later because his manga's longevity is ensured. I think that when looking back all the character elements we detest will be reedemed. Fujitora is already paying off. Rebecca might yet redeem herself, and this arc may yet as well.
There seems to be a severe lack of patience in the forums. Whatever that means.

I have a feeling the next arc would somehow show the fate of the shirohige crew. Really wanna know what Marco's upto now.

And what is wrong with that? If the difference between them was any smaller, I'd call bullshit on that. Sabo is supposed to be Ace's equal and BB told his crew before the TS that they can't even touch Ace. So unless Sabo was chilling and Burgess got some kind of a huge power-up in those two years, I don't see how any other outcome of their fight could even be possible.
-
So, did Fuji and Luffy just busted Buggys new job as a Shichibukai?

I'm just calling it as it is. You're the one who assumed I was complaining.
Though, for me, one sided fights are never interesting. I'd be lying if I said I wouldn't enjoy more if Burgess mananged to counter Sabo at least a little. If there's any real gripe I have with their fight it's Burgess using his Galleon Lariat without Haki. What the hell was that? It didn't look like Sabo just dematerialized before getting hit. I dislike plot induced stupidity even more than one sided fights.
Btw, hi, just noticed your location.

Well, I didn't assume that you were complaining, I just commented your post. I guess it's you who assumed that I assumed that you were complaining Yeah, true story, it's seems that lately we got a lot of plot induced stupidity and I hope that this is gonna stop in future arcs (or at least get to some acceptable levels)…
Edit: Pozdrav i tebi, haha xD

I guess I did wrongly assume you assumed I was complaining. :ninja:
Bitching about this arc has taken enough time out of my life as it is. It's important to stay positive. It's going to end soon, so there's that. Hopefully, the foundations that were set now will produce awesome results in the future.

Yeah, one can only hope at this point. The next chapter is gonna be an epic shit storm across the whole world (or at least I hope so). And from there, things should move relatively quickly forward. Hopefully, we won't get an arc with a slow pace like Dressrosa for a long long time
-
Is there a break after next chapter or the one 2 weeks from now?
I sense a really outrageous cliffhanger coming.
-
Break is after the next chapter since it is gonna be the 4th chapter in a row. And it is gonna be gr8 for a cliffhanger, yes
-

The only cliffhanger I can think of in Dressrosa is if someone helps DD escape. Like Absalom makes him invisible and they get away.:ninja:
Maybe it's Kaidou's introduction…
-
The Sanji crew get's wiped out by Big Mom and they need saving. Cue Zou arc.
-
@400MillionBelis:

I hope that this won't be the case. We have had enough rescue and damsel in distress arcs already. Besides, I don't think that BM is on that ship so I guess that Sanji & co will be able to somehow beat Pekoms and Tamago together. And Sanji really needs to finally show what he can do after the TS, especially after the treatment that Zoro got during this arc.
A world building chapter is always gr8 for a cliffhanger because Oda can show us literally anything. What if the Kidd alliance already did something shocking as well? What if we get to see Sanji & co in the last panel standing over Pekoms and Tamago's beaten bodies? There is a ton of possibility.

One thing I found interesting after reading the latest episodes subtitles was Fujitoras intentions.
Fujitora said "does the world government pretend to be god?".
The citizens asked fujitora if he would do anything, fujitora replied with "this is what the marines do time and time again".
So the world government created the issue in the first place and then you have the marines, controlled by the WG fix things up. Fujitora sees this and knows this.So basically the reason why Dressrosa is in the current state now is due to the world government, Doflamingo being a " fallen celestial Dragon" alone was enough to manipulate the world.
The warlord system, which is in fact the true root cause of this mess is the issue and this has been displayed time and time again in the seriesFujitora decided to step back, if he walked in finishing the fight off for Luffy and Law, then the World Government would seem to be the hero, even though they are the cause of the mess.
Fujitora is risking his position, the fight with Sabo may help him get away with getting "fired" so to say. I mean Fujitora is portrayed as a gambler, so he knows hes putting his position the line.
Yes Fujitora could have stepped in to maybe stop the birdcage or defeat Doflamingo but it would go against his goal. Yes it would have saved citizens and saved a hell of a lot time, but I believe fujitora was willing to make that sacrifice for the sake of his goal even if it meant casualties.
Fujitora gave what was needed, his little push on the cage was just enough for everyone and didnt need to exert himself.
I put bits and pieces together and this is the puzzle I came out with
-
I'm personally hoping we end on a Kaido reaction next chapter before we go on break.
-
The only thing that's gonna bother me if they really do abolish the Shichibukai system now is Buggy's situation. I mean, his time to shine finally came and then BAM! F**k you, you stupid red nosed pirate!
I really like Buggy…
-
They're not going to abolish the Warlords at this time. We don't even know who the mysterious seventh one is yet. It would be really dumb if one of the three great powers was able to be abolished over one incident, no matter how big.
This is just the groundwork for shit that's going to happen at the end of the series.
-
Seeing Buggy's reaction should be fun, Hancock, Relight/Shakki, Shanks, Garp..etc would be too cool; especially Dragon's :)
The Gorosei are a must. -

Not necessarily the end, but probably not before halfway through the New World. Like you said, we haven't even met the seventh Shichibukai. Doflamingo's slot might not be filled before they're abolished though.
