OK Law has no CoC… Luffy should haki off him
I think those without wlllpower will fall like fodder. VAs and such don't.

CoC just being an ability to take out fodder or to have the disposition of a king (read: leader; attract allies and whatnot) seems to be a tad underwhelming. It's been described by many as something rare and special yet its usages and true nature are still shrouded in mystery. Which makes me too believe that there's more to it; more practical usages that can perhaps influence a fight against stronger enemies.
As it stands now though we can't say for sure whether it's more or less useless or one of the best abilities to have. Time will tell.
Kishido needs a Sanji injection, too down lately. Where is your enthusiastic spirit mate?!
Omg!!! This shit blew my mind, when Doffy used awakening like that and changed the surroundings hahaha amazing stuff. 16 rounds of holy ammo? I didn't get what that meant maybe bad translation or 16 awakened pointy strings? I haven't been left speechless from a chapter in a long time. Doffy said some really naive things though, like how the fact Luffy got above him was to his disadvantage? I love the chapter's name, to me it was the heavenly demon ascending to the sky and spurting nonsense about his superior lineage and was brought down to earth (literally) with an almighty thump! I remember people were whining about Doffy's lack of using parasite so at least I won't have to be reading that crap in the coming weeks since he did use it and it failed pretty badly lol (as predicted because it always seemed like a move to control fodder).
I'm no fan of deaths or anything, so don't get me wrong when I say this but at the height Doffy was and the velocity he came crashing down to earth (which seemed faster than when he got hit with the lesser Kong Gun and sent flying across the island) he has to be dead, even his glasses are shattered, what ever would he do without them?
I like how for both Zoro and Luffy's fights there were tiny flashbacks of their training. But that move was world shattering stuff, when marines see Doffy's body deeply embedded into the earth they will think Fujitora DID do something this arc with his gravity. :ninja:
Favorite moments: Law switching Rebecca out like a boss, Zoro panel smiling as if to say "captain is back on his feet, game over", Luffy going beast mode and telling Doffy to shut the hell up with control of people nonsense, Doffy's face when his invincible glasses lost their immortality. The island looking like an Inception scene happening where the landscape became vertical. And the reveal about the D family so Law, Luffy could be related? If Law knows more about D then it makes more sense why he wanted to save Luffy at Marineford. Error: you have stated way too many things as awesome in this chapter go back and delete some.
Fuck you this chapter was mindblowingly epic!!! (Rebecca kept crying to the very end huh? I love the consistency lol)
It's a symbol for people with an overwhelming spirit and/or ego, thus destined to do great things. they don't become great because CoC gives them some advantage in battle, the CoC is there because they have the qualities to be somebody, to bring change, to do things that for others would be absurd to even think of.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Yeah, the guy with the most overwhelming haki in the manga can at best crack a piece of wood with his pressure.. what makes you think it has some combat uses again?
Because shanks went there to destroy whitebeards ship with Haki…..
I'm gonna wait for Mangastream to release their version to "truly" comment, but for now I'll use Aohige's translation and the raw.
I thought the chapter itself was awesome. King Kong gun just works for me. This isn't the era of Luffy using blood on his fists to simulate water, as cool as that was, so I don't mind that it's essentially a "bigger version" of an attack. It feels more like a logical continuation to me. Kong, King Kong. Breaking through 16 heavenly threads. A nice Rayleigh flashback alluding to it. I dunno, it works for me.
Finally, though. Finally, I can start re-reading at least Dressrosa to see what I truly thought of it. This is surely pretty much the end, so now I can finally do what I've been wanting to do for years. Re-read this arc, see it all gelled together, and see how I feel about re-reading One Piece after that. This is an important arc merely by virtue of being Doflamingo's arc – the long-hinted-at mega villain -- and it's also an important arc for me, being after 2 arcs that I thought were not that great.
Kishido needs a Sanji injection, too down lately. Where is your enthusiastic spirit mate?!
It will come back with proper explanation and not left out stuff.
But hey awakening is really cool… is it?
Some cool bits, but a little underwhelming in contrast to the first appearance of Gear 4. This will definitely read better when you can see it in context.
Not a great translation, I'd like to see what Raleigh is teaching him as 'g4' being a general thing is unlikely.
There's some subtlety to Law now, he's gone from vengeance machine to looking at what it's cost to exhausted. Interesting that he's flashing back to Cora mentioning the D as it seems focused on Luffy. Does he see any reflection in that he is as well?
The glasses finally broke, cool. It'll be interesting to see how badly Dofla does too. Will there be any fight left in him? The main question left is how epic his face-fault will be.
There is one thing that absolutely ruined a lot of it for me: Dofla lets loose with his assault and Rebecca… stands there blubbering until someone else saves her. WHAT A SURPRISE. Over this saga I've gone from being interested in her, to wondering how Oda will portray her pacifism as a strength in in itself, to absolutely loathing her. Maybe she'll step in to stop Luffy from kicking the complete bejebus out of a shattered Doffy. I don't care, I'll hate her more.
Shocking news… DOFla has the same eyebrows as Sanji... A rare gift even among the world nobles
I wouldn't be surprised if that turns out to be important.
Just read this, didn't even see the spoilers this time, lol
Can we take a moment to appreciate that color spread? It's really a work of art. The flags flying around and different costumes make it clear it's showing off different countries reading One Piece and such. NAMI IS THE COUNTRY OF TEXAS
Awesome chapter. Strings gone, glasses gone, Doffy gone!
Because shanks went there to destroy whitebeards ship with Haki…..
no, he went there to show his fangs.
and you don't usually show your fangs on the ship of a yonkou by not bringing your A game
I wonder if anyone can live in dressrosa anymore landscape has gotten destroyed
Rayleigh, "hahaha that's a problem now isnt it"
I just love his conversations with Luffy.
I feel kinda underwhelmed and I agree with… whoever a few pages ago said that you couldn't see the attack well. I guess I would have liked a full page spread showing it, but that's just kinda me.
I think overall, this isn't my favorite fight but I can certainly appreciated a lot of it, like the inclusion of a new gear and such...
so now, can we get back to Bellamy? :(
Says not available? Is this some kind of troll? :P
Not to go off topic or anything. But you really need to learn how to do Photoshop since you know…. His colors though? :/ I'd do it for free. But? My iPhone doesn't have that option to change colors yet. So? I'm stuck till I get my PC fixed. XD

Awesome chapter. Strings gone, glasses gone, Doffy gone!
I think the flags that seem to pop out at you from each character are what represents the country which their costumes are inspired from. Robin in that Indian get up, I think I had a nosebleed. Brook is UK, Nami is USA, I think Sanji is France, Ussop is Brazil, Luffy is Japan, Chopper is Canada, Edit: Franky's is China, can't believe I said Singapore loool, Zoro's is a tad bit ambiguous for me too but could be Netherlands.

You do remember that in the last chapter rebecca was under don control .
And even if she not under his control any more all of this happen with in seconds of each other .
What is she suppose to do vs a attack that caught luffy off guard .
It's okay if you don't like her but really now .
Rayleigh, "hahaha that's a problem now isnt it"
I just love his conversations with Luffy.
Yeah me too, he's so laid back all the time, I guess that's what happens to you when you're simply living to see how the next era unfolds. Not to mention he's basically watching another Roger type of individual in his youth, so all this must be nostalgic for him.
So having his DF awakened didn't really help Dofla against G4 Luffy, but I also wonder why he waited to the very end to actually make use of his awakened powers. Is there a drawback to it as well? The finisher "King-Kong-Gun" wasn't the most creative move, but certainly the most impressive in terms of power that we've seen so far - cracked the entire island open like the colosseum ring earlier.
I hope to see some developments across the new world and shocked faces at Marine HQ after the defeat of Dofla, it should be good to get away from the strawhats for a while imho.
Mmm I'm kinda half and half.
One hand, fight's over and I like the symbolisim of Luffy getting above Doffy to give the finishing blow knocking the "god" off his perch. Plus with the flashback and the glasses finally flying off Doffy's face is pretty much a signal he's down and out (unless he tries a last ditch attack which I won't mind considering Law's role in all this).
But on the other, yeah feels like a retread of the Croc fight only with Luffy above the villain this time. I also felt we didn't get too in depth with Doffy's power. I was just kinda "meh" through the whole fight. It honestly didn't feel like he was going all out. Granted it can be argued that might be the point, he's too arrogant to see the threat Luffy truly is and just barely started making an effort once Luffy gained the upper hand. But honestly I just wasn't feeling the danger level. Heck Doffy was just now thinking of using the puppet attack against Luffy in the finale. You think he would've pulled that at the beginning.
But the stories not finished yet so let's see what the next chapter brings before I give my final assessment.
The glasses finally broke, cool. It'll be interesting to see how badly Dofla does too. Will there be any fight left in him? The main question left is how epic his face-fault will be.
He was knocked below where the land split in two and is falling back into place now. I don't think Oda is going to show underground and in the dark, but who knows?
We have to see Doflamingo's eyes, so no doubt though the fight is pretty much over, he's going to stand up once more. So get ready for some scared looks.
nice title page, showcasing the Strawhat "nationalities" once again…. though checking they don't quiiite match up to what Oda-San said before (20 volumes ago...) ?
Luffy: Brazilian-- Japanese?
Zoro: Japanese-- German?
Nami: Swedish--American?
Usopp: African
Sanji: French
Chopper: Canadian
Robin: Russian--Indian?
Franky: American--Chinese?
Brook: Austrian --British?
Well, three of them still match up but all the others seem to have changed. Even stranger since some of the representations seem to have just moved around.

What's she supposed to do? ANYTHING OTHER THAN STAND THERE CRYING. LITERALLY ANYTHING.
I wonder if anyone can live in dressrosa anymore landscape has gotten destroyed
The tears of a princess will help out… Maybe she will awaken her tears and everything will be restored...

Oh, I get it… your post must've been translated by Mangapanda. That's how it manages to be 100% wrong about everything it says.
Glasses gone, Birdcage gone, Doffy now under part of the entire island, final flashy move that was built up to and finished per Luffy's promise done, it's all done dude. Nothing to gain by even thinking there's more to come
The tears of a princess will help out… Maybe she will awaken her tears and everything will be restored...
One flick of the wand will fix everything.
The fight is far from overr. Now dofla will fight without glasses and feathers.
Or Roger really ahd the Gomu Gomu.. You know parallels
Not impossible, there are very few small hints that certainly entertain the theory, but imo it's highly unlikely. I believe we would've heard someone from Roger's era comment about the DF power being present within Luffy by now.
Roger most likely just utlized Haki like no one else and was just an absolute monster, whether or not he had DF powers remains to be seen but considering Shanks and Rayleigh have such immense control over haki I'd have to assume Roger mostly used haki more than anything else.

Usopp was representing Brazil here.

Usopp is now Brazilian (wearing Carnival costume)
I think Oda just chose easily recognizable cultural clothes. Don't think he was making an attempt to stick to their previously stated "nationalities".

Who. cares. about. Rebecca.
She is a crappy character, she did what you expected her to do this chapter, move on. She was such an incredibly minimal part of this chapter, and you are of course making your posts mainly about her in typical APForums Manga Section fashion.
Listen, if I have to defend her actions this chapter I will, begrudgingly: she likely did not do anything because A: she was JUST dealing with the near heavy trauma of almost killing her aunt, and B: she was still emotionally overwhelmed by Luffy saving her. That is why she didn't do anything. It was all mental.
Finally!!!!
Please let this be the end so we can move on to the next ark, please!!!
Question, was that last attack a combination of gear fourth and third??
I wish the fight wasn't over (because it left a lot to be desired), but it probably is.
Btw, someone should really tell Dofla that he should never go full retard. :ninja:
Interesting. So Luffys haki wadn't returned yet, yet he broke Rebecca's sword in previous chapter.
Looking forward to seeeing Luffys powerup he was wishing for in the flashback. This one in the chapter seems like something else than that.

Nami definitely representing the US, Zoro Germany, Robin India, Franky China and Brook the UK. Usopp seems Brazil and Chopper seems more like Norway(Sami) with his colored belt.

Since he inhaled more air before his fist got bigger, probably.
But I wonder how Rayleigh's tip fits together with that. Luffy could think of combining Gears on his own.
Next chapter the birdcage still has to vanish and we will know what will happen with Doffy´s body.
A celebration party seems fitting (even when almost everything is destroyed)and they have to find a way to go after Sanji & Co when the TS isn´t there.
Guess they will recover until the next day before they might go after the TS (might it be with BigMum or on Zou)…that gives us a few chapters, where we can be shown what happens elsewhere in the world after those news will hit it.

I'm guessing Dofla's sharp pointed strings attack with a higher force than Rebecca's measly slash with a dull edge.

But I wonder how Rayleigh's tip fits together with that. Luffy could think of combining Gears on his own.
Luffy certainly could, but Rayleigh's comment could have been the trigger to cause the "aha! here's how I deal with this situation" moment.
Isn't the ONE thing Rebecca has going for her is her speed? Speed that protected her from being one-shotted by Hekuba like everyone else in her colosseum round?

Speed don't really mean anything if she still under don control which was so a few secs ago.
Plus like i said all of this happen in a fews secs before she could even stand up good.
Luffy certainly could, but Rayleigh's comment could have been the trigger to cause the "aha! here's how I deal with this situation" moment.
It's possible. The size of the fist could compensate for the shortage of Haki.
The only problem is, this attack looked a lot stronger than the Kong Gun, not to mention it had a more bitchin' name.
CIS is very strong on this one.
As no one said before that Gol D Roger was the first one with the Strawhat… And everyone just mentioned Shanks?
Maybe it's just me but I think a very distinct and powerful DF like the gomu gomu no mi would stand out a lot more than your average, everyday, dusty old strawhat.
But like I said before it ain't impossible, despite my argument the OPverse's public and media still chose "Strawhat" as Luffy's epithet and refer to him as such as opposed to anything else about him that stands out far more than his fairly common and generally unremarkable headwear.
Interesting. So Luffys haki wadn't returned yet, yet he broke Rebecca's sword in previous chapter.
Looking forward to seeeing Luffys powerup he was wishing for in the flashback. This one in the chapter seems like something else than that.
His haki did return , don just making fun of him like he did the whole chapter .
His haki did return , don just making fun of him like he did the whole chapter .
Exactly my thoughts.
In my opinion Rayleigh shouldn´t teach Luffy stuff about his DF.
Luffy is creative enough to come up with techniques and he´s the one who should understand how is DF works. (Rayleigh doesn´t even have a DF to compare it with)
Rayleigh could have teached him how to regenerate his haki in a short amount of time and how to alter it in his body, which inspired Luffy to combine his gears.
Is it bad that I knew exactly what your post was going to be about before you posted it.
Not really as it's a reply to someone.

She is minimal, but she's the worst thing in the chapter There was other stuff I commented on as more interesting but she gets a mention for being most annoying. 'Typical APForums Manga Section fashion'? Um, ok whatever.
It's possible. The size of the fist could compensate for the shortage of Haki.
The only problem is, this attack looked a lot stronger than the Kong Gun, not to mention it had a more bitchin' name.
Hmmm… This attack did look stronger, this attack did have a cooler/bitchin' name, and so: I believe this attack, going by Aohige's translation, was the attack Rayleigh had Luffy seek out. So I'm saying I think this was what they came up with. He was simply stating, also, that Gear 4 has too big of a drawback. So this isn't an "optimal solution" of course and it'll be interesting to see how Luffy mitigates these drawbacks in the future. And that's something to appreciate: Luffy still has a lot to work towards with his Haki, his heavy drawbacks, a lot.
And yeah to anyone asking he combined Gear 3 with Gear 4.
