Seems thread worthy. I'm guessing it'll be another movie, because I'm not sure what else it could be, but since we don't know I'll make the thread here. 30th issue comes out on June 22nd, but as usual it'll probably week on the thursday before, so expect to know one week from now
One Piece gets "big news" in 30th issue of WSJ

Maybe One Piece is getting cancelled from Shonen Jump.

Maybe One Piece is getting cancelled from Shonen Jump.
That would be the day. Let's cancel one of the most popular series, but allow Bleach to continue going forward.
-
Maybe there won't be these breaks anymore.
I always knew that someday Oda would turn himself into a cyborg.
Maybe we will even get more than one chapter now. How lovely!
-
G4th DLC for One Piece video games ? :ninja:
-
Lol. There are people on other forums that think this news is that One Piece will be ending soon. They actually think that.
-
Shueisha tends to hype chapters when there's a week off. I think this is likely just that. Personally, I would not expect anything groundbreaking next week. Hope for the best, but expect the worst.
-
It's probably an announcement about turning One Piece into a monthly title
-

They do in fact hype chapters, but did they ever did a big announcement for something like that? I don't believe they did.

It's probably an announcement about turning One Piece into a monthly title
That wouldn't be a big announcement :(
-
That wouldn't be a big announcement :(
Well it would be a big announcement, but it would suck for us =/
Changing the most popular manga from weekly to monthly is quite a big change… -
Big news, Sunny team shows up soon. That would be big enough.
-
It's probably an announcement about turning One Piece into a monthly title
Why would you think that?

Why would you think that?
I'm pretty sure he is just joking. I expect it to be nothing major. Defeat of Doflamingo and there we go
-
It's a movie. They did something like this when they recently announced the Fairy Tail movie. @black-leg:

That isn't big news.

Changing the most popular manga from weekly to monthly is quite a big change…That wouldn't be so bad if the monthly issue has the same amount of content or more then four weekly issues.

Fairy Tail isn't a shueisha series, so not really relevant. Though I do think it's a movie
-
Anime ends with episode 700
-
It wont happen but I wish Oda would take a sabbatical year, get a good rest and come back stronger and with a fresh approach to the series.
I would prefer a year without One Pice if that means the series can become fun again.
-
Dressrosa is ending… Finally
-
Oda finally acknowledged he ran outta ideas for Luffy so from now on the story will be following Buggy`s adventures instead.
-
Maybe one piece party gets an anime.:ninja:
-
Madhouse to replace Toei. Yeah, one can dream.
-

Generally, a monthly series has anywhere between 30-60 pages an issue (and more for special chapters, maybe). I don't think there's a set page standard.
-
G4th DLC for One Piece video games ? :ninja:
Hahaha, that made me laugh.
@Portgas-D-Ace:
Madhouse to replace Toei. Yeah, one can dream.
Damn you.
-
It's obviously a movie announcement.
It's about time. I was afraid we weren't going to get one.
-
@Portgas-D-Ace:
Madhouse to replace Toei. Yeah, one can dream.
Theoretical: I think a required Budget for this could be provided, right? And YES, I absolutely know, this is impossible.
-
I´d rather have studio Sunrise do it, they made a superb job adapting Gintama
-
At least Toei nailed it with the recent movies.
-
Isn't it just that it's the final part of the final fight of Dressrosa? Finally finishing off Dofla? At least that's what it alluded to in other news reports
-
Maybe a One Piece "Kaï" ?
-
Watch it be something lame like One Piece getting another small amusement park in Japan
-
Hope it's something nice related to the manga. Because, you know, the anime sucks.
-
I think we'll get a new movie. Makes sense, it's been 3 years!
-
Most likely, it would be one of the following:
1. Hyping up the next chapter.
2. New Movie.
3. Something about the Universal theme park or another One Piece event. (like the gallery thing that was not too long ago)
4. Some super-duper new merchandise that can only be bought through WSJ or early access to it. (inc a new video game) -
A movie would be super even if its just a TV special like 3d2y.
Hope its not some musical in japan.
-
Scrap everything.
I just realized:Kumadori's Life and Death Kabuki show. It must be it.
(and Oda is secretly writing the screenplay and making auditions) -
I hope it's a movie announcement, but my gut feeling is learning towards the switch-to-monthly one. We've been having more and more breaks recently which kept me thinking about that for a while now.
-

I find the series fun, it should be TOEI taking a year off.
-
I hope it's that the anime "ends" and they announce a "new" anime, like Dragonball to Dragonball Z.
-

It's after every 3 chapters Oda goes on break, this has been happening for months now so I don't see how we are having too many breaks.

We had 5 weeks in a row this time i think
-
We've only had four breaks this year and some of you are already fearing that One Piece will move to a different magazine?
Scheduled or not, Oda deserves to take as many breaks as he wishes.
-
maybe we will start to get double issues. This schedule of dragging chapters on by giving no content and then taking a break sucks dick.
-
itt people seriously thinking one piece will pull a steel ball run lolll
-

No he doesn't. At the end of the day this is his job. Yes he sure take care of himself and stay healthy, but he can't just break every other week, that would be pure laziness
-
One Piece is basically Japanese Mickey Mouse at this point, Oda could legit take every other month off and still be good financially.
Of course Toei won't let him do that because they're equally aware of the money train that man is in charge of.
-

Try working the schedule he does and then come back and complain again.

What is his schedule? Also what was i complaining about?
-

The post you made implied that he's lazy for taking the breaks he does when that's not the case. Oda works 21 hours a day and has been hospitalized a handful of times because he's worked himself way too hard and on top of all this, he's a chain-smoker. The breaks are BECAUSE he works too hard. Shueshia wants him to relax a bit.
