So, I started Type-0 today. Are the controls SUPPOSED to feel incredibly awkward, cause they really do.
What are you referring to exactly?

I am the only one who thinks this 3-player co-op is just as messy as a Michael Bay movie?
No, I think it's messy too. I just like messy.

Well, the lock on function barely works. Character movement is bizarre. I'm not sure how I'm supposed to target allies to heal them.
Maybe this is just something I need to get used to, but eh.

Lock-on is defaulted to hold down and will lock on the nearest enemy in sight as long as you hold it down (you can change it to press down in the options). Living enemies take priority in targeting so tap up on the right control stick to target dead ones.
Healing party members is done one of two ways:
-Heal them with a item in the menu (get out of immediate danger first)
-Charge up Cure to Cura/Curaga for heal 2/3 members (not available until you raise Defense stat to appropriate level)
-…or just have at least one ally equipped with Cure do the job automatically. Then they're pretty good at keeping themselves alive.
Not sure what you mean by bizarre movement. Some characters are unique with their attacking and walking.
So a new Star Ocean got announced, developed by tri-Ace.
Kind of insane to me…
What is this?
Square actually wants to compete against Xenoblade Chronicles X and realized it that FFXV is not enough?

What, why would they need to compete?
Xenoblade is niche as hell compared to Final Fantasy, XV will casually beat Xenoblade in sales.
The franchise that has one outing versus something that's built for 30 years over dozens of games and consoles? No kidding they're not comprable.
Final Fantasy isn't in Smash Brothers though.
There wasn't really any doubt. It was never going to remain an arcade exclusive very long.
It might just be PlayStation exclusive SECJ is helping with development since the cabs are running off custom PS4 hardware.

years from now sales will hardly matter and the great games will be replayed in the future

Sales will always matter, it makes or break series.
XV will be replayed despite weather or not it is good. We don't really know if Xenoblade or XV will be great.

See, it's not about the series, it's about the game. Sequels often times ruined the series, or made people lose interest in it (like Final Fantasy XIII trilogy did). A great game even if it sells poorly will still remain a great game, and if sales will decreet a sequel or not, it's uncertain if the future entries will be just as great.

Wasn't the first straw that broke the camel's back.
Hard mode and ghosting will be in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
Nah let's be real here. Xenoblade Chronicles: X is a game with only one previous outing exclusively on the system that's selling the least without the same brand power.
X may be a pretty cool game but it's not intimidating Square into making anything like it.

Maybe the competition could be about quality and not quantity of the sales

That's not how business works.

If quality correlated strongly with sales figures, sure. But that's not the reality we live in, and that reality also requires making ends meet.
It's about catering to the audience, which even lower quality games like CoD do because they know what the audience wants.
So they're changing stuff in Final Fantasy XV. AGAIN.

What I found funny was that, "They didn't mean to make Cindy sexy, but if she came out that way it's because all the devs where male."
I mean it's aight that they're changing some things. If controls got the lowest score for a game, then well shit that's something they really should fix.
but lol at the cindy thing
Really? No one said something like "play as someone who is not Noctis"?
I know most of us hate the mobile games (for good reason), but has anyone been playing Final Fantasy Record Keeper? It's pretty good.
Tomorrow is the last day to unlock Aeris/Aerith until her event is closed for a few months, and Terra's event just opened up and will close next week.
"It's because all the devs are male"
I like to think that she had a normal mechanic design originally and just that whenever one of the employees walked past a computer with her on it they just made a really small change and walk away thinking nothing of it. But everyone at the office did it so her design changed slowly.
First guy: 'hmm I'll change her trousers to shorts'
Second guy: 'hmm I'll change her shorts to daisy dukes'
Third guy: 'hmmm I'll unzip her jacket'
Fourth guy: 'hmmm I'll give her a push up bra'
She just slowly became the Cindy we know now and no one working there noticed because the change was so gradual.
Really? No one said something like "play as someone who is not Noctis"?
Most of this stuff they are changing are minor updates to the current battle system.
Adding more characters to play would complete change everything they made up until now, they aren't doing that and that's for the better.
Been playing FF Type-0 HD for the past couple days ..Honestly its not that bad
the mission modes are awesome..ive been using 1 or 2 characters only lately so far since mission 2
For all those who don't yet know that FFXIV is a wonderful, wonderful thing:
No, it's not a fighting game mode. Just them trolling around. But it does make me wish this were real and that Yda were playable in Dissidia.
The update to the FFXV demo is coming in June.

Update on new Dissidia. Bartz and Squall confirmed to return.
-Bartz mimics 'Kain's Jump' and 'Firion's Bow and Arrow shot', so that probably means those two are coming back as well.
-Bartz seems to have a new 'mastery' ability to him where 'the more he uses an ability the stronger it gets'. You can see him 'master' Firion's arrow and end up firing multiple arrows. And with Goblin Punch, it extends into Missile.
-New Final Fantasy XIII stage
-I didn't pay much attention to Squall's combat, but Bartz was one of my mains, sue me.
High Definition Graphics Bartz
Id be pretty surprised if any of the existing roster got dropped. They were all pretty unique and there wasn't a lot of overlap, and personal preferences aside, they did get most of the better liked and iconic characters from their given games.
That said, 9 needs another rep.
Why didn't they showed any villain yet?

Oh I'm quite aware…
Which is why I had to quit. >_>; The game was taking over my life. When I looked at 1 million Gold Saucer Points for the Fenrir mount and was considering grinding for it over a considerable length of time, I was like... maybe I should take a step back here. I'm gonna be watching videos of all the new content (which looks amazing damnit, really hard not to come back, they're delivering on all their promises for a huge amount of content for Heavensward! Damn those scheming bastards) but I just don't trust myself to manage my time well at all if I just throw myself back at the game. It was tough to quit, I made a lot of friends on there quickly.
Anyway yeah, if you guys have the time management skills and trust yourself, go jump in; there's a ridiculous amount of content and the game is just plain awesome, and will only get more awesome and get more sorely needed terrain...

I know some elements of the fanbase might take exception to that where Tidus & Vaan are concerned.
They're both super popular in Japan. And they are both the main pov characters in their games, even if they're among the least interesting,
I like that the stage they chose to represent final fantasy xiii is a long hallway.
They're both super popular in Japan.
That's why I made that comment regarding certain elements of the fanbase.
A lot of XV news from the recent ARR:
1. The update to the Duscae demo will be coming out June 9th, here's a trailer they made showing it off.
2. Stella is no longer in XV, she's been replace by Luna.
3.The black haired women and the lady dragoon are still in.
4. The city party scene is completely gone, and the invasion at the start of the game is gone.
5. Nojima is no longer the writer for the game, he's credit as original scenario creator, while Itamuro is writing the script.
6. Not appearing at E3, big reveal planned for Gamescom.
7. New art tease for Gamescom.
Wait. FF15 has bene in development for how long and they're STILL writing the script? And taking out already finished sequences?
Long productions get tweaked and bettered constantly as they go along, and stuff gets edited for pacing or whatever, no big deal… but to change in a completely new writer? To the point there's a big enough difference that the credits will actually need changing, rather than a co-credit? Like 10 years in?
Thats probably not a good thing.
Square is really terrible at managing time and resources (apparently development on KH3 has barely started.)
Like some company-wide Tim Schafer.

I assume it only REALLY started production recently, and the similarity to the plot 10 years ago is probably just mostly similar characters. If the game shown 10 years ago had released around 5-6 years ago, I definitely don't think it would be the all-guy roadtrip it is now.
Yeah but why would you start making an RPG without at least some idea and inspiration of what you're going to be doing? How does the budget and setpieces all get approved before thee words are there to follow?
Happens in movies all the time too. And the later Uncharted games. It just… seems like a weird way to go about it.
In the realm of good (or at least okay) Final Fantasy games, Final Fantasy Record Keeper has been updated for new people to join in. They've begun restarting character events (giving people a second chance to get Tidus). The Locke event is going on, but it closes very soon. Can't guarantee you'll be able to unlock him in time.
The game now has a bunch of tutorial challenges.
The game is a mobile game, but it's pretty fun. And it's free. You can pay for stuff, but paying for stuff barely helps. The best use of money for the game is to gamble for the chance to obtain relic equipment, but you can use non-payment methods for that gamble and using actual money doesn't up your chances at all.
FFIX chapters are coming soon, and with it, the Steiner event. Can't wait for him. He's top tier in the game.

Close to 2 years, the project was reboot in July 2012 when the Type 0 team came in.
After the switch from Versus XIII to XV, the first decision Square Enix made was to make sure XV would have a complete and coherent story in one game. In deciding which elements would fit into XV from Final Fantasy Versus XIII, the team went through everything in detail and tried to keep as many elements from the original story in as possible. The team considered what what would fit and what was essential for the story to be containefd in a single title. They decided to be as faithful to Nojima’s original Versus XIII story as possible, so they created a narrative that utilized the original story as much as possible.
This is what Nojima had to say about this: “This is Nojima. As director Tabata just announced, the plot that was developed during the Versus era has served as the basis for the Final Fantasy XV story. I’m sure the story will make many changes as they adapt my draft into a more detailed script, but I believe that the important things I wanted to express will be taken to another level by the XV team. As I express my support, I will be waiting for XV to be completed just like everyone else.”
There may have been a recent reboot, but I can still find a gameplay trailer from 2011. Plus, lack of gameplay haven't stopped SE from posting Cinematic trailers showing the cast and the Bro-mantic driving in 2008, as well as Noctis, his multi-weapon system and the "fantasy based on reality" concept as far back as 2006, when this was a PS3 game. At this poit in time, with 300 people allegedly working on the thing, they really should have gotten this on track by now.
After a platform shift, and rebranding and reworking this thing for a decade, I wonder if its even possible for this thing to ever make its money back.
Well I think we may have something cool tomorrow. Multiple sources are saying a FF VII remake for PS4 will be announced…

If Square is still working on getting Final Fantasy 15 and Kingdom Hearts 3 out the door I sincerely doubt A remake of VII is going to be on anyone's lips tomorrow.

They'll cry when the game goes dark for 5-7 years before we see the first gameplay footage.
Is Sephiroth still going to be voiced by Superman, this is important.
They could always call up Lance Bass if he's not available.
