If people could just accept different opinions - what a strange world that would be. Half the comments are just about bashing him, which adds nothing to the discussion.
Other posters (like Amol) are way more critical, abrasive, and obvious clones of other banned accounts… so I don't believe it.

Yes, so why does he need to get pointlessly critisized just for stating his opinion, which is all you can do anyway? People write walls of texts just to critisize other people instead of actually adding anything to the discussions, what's the point?

Darth wasn't banned for his opinions (except for the fascist ones), he was banned for being a colossal shithead about them.
Now he can read and discuss the private version of One Piece that only Darth reads in peace/Hell.

I fear that even if people toned it down, in the long run it would become a more like passive-aggressive situation, and that's even worse.

The problem with Darth is he constantly kept harping over and over on nitpicky details and the "flaws" he pointed out weren't neccessarily flaws as much as the story wasn't going how HE wanted it. If he had his way, Fujitora would have solved the crisis in two chapters and we'd then get a one volume arc with Akainu as the protagonist. Good riddance, I say.

No one would be banned because they are critical, its probably a joke but if it isn't its probably product of him complaining but with the complaining derailing any conversion people migth want to have in the threads, ever since he joined the forum or atleast he started posting more every damn thread is him in an argument with someone else, the guy managed to make me put him in my ignore list and I barelly use that but being in the ignore list means nothing because he gets into arguments with everyone so people quote him and I end up seeing it all anyway.
Still like I said its probably a joke but I'm fine with it if it isn't.

I believe the reason he got banned was he was bashing others opinions and that's against forum rules. It has nothing to do with just expressing his opinions although many of his other characteristics passively added his resume. His fanciness over fascism was a bit annoying considering my current country's condition but that's just my opinon ofc.

I was a lurker from the mid 2000's and he has got his share of bans

The rich thing about this isn't the "prank" per se, which is pretty lame actually, but the people positively reacting to it. Because for some reason some people can't bear to read well exposed arguments of why other people don't like the same things as them, and are actually relieved when said critics are taken away, so they can read their ideal commentary thread, which i assume consists in dozens of copy-pastes af the first 2 pages of every chapter commentary ("awesome!" "cool!" "[Doflamingo/Luffy/Zoro/Gaimon/…] is a beast!").
I don't really like Darth's tone sometimes and the way he other times easily drifts away from the main topic derailing the disccussion to pointless arguements just for the sake af arguing, but his posts are actually the only reasons i (and i believe a bunch of other people) read these threads: being, as i said earlier in this very thread, fairly disappointed with Oda's writing as of lately, i enjoy seeing a very similar point of view proposed and defended on these pages.
Also, i read a lot more assholish behaviour coming from apologist then critics (talking about sheer numbers), but somehow i believe a prank-ban for any of them wouldn't have been noticed as much! ;)

Funny you should say that. I actually PM'ed Darth yesterday telling him that for April Fools he should post the exact opposite of his opinions, all day, completely serious.
That would throw everybody for a loop and be funnier than a "ban".

It was a reply to Icarus about bashing others: Complaining about other posters takes up more space than the actual arguments complained about and adds nothing to the discussion.
As for the "ban" - I have seen worse from other posters, and nothing has happened to them, but of course I am also kind of new here. Really, disagreeing with someone is what makes a discussion and is somehow often thought of as bashing, because people can't handle different opinions..

I highly doubt he's banned, the timing with April 1st is just too coincidental. Also, if it is real, it's kind of messed up. I mean yeah he argued and nitpicked every chapter to death, but he did have some good points, albeit he had a lot of bad ones (in my opinion) but I don't think he should be banned for that.

I'm sorry, but if you get so butthurt over the fact that a guy has opinions that you don't really care for, so much so that you feel the need to ban him; then I think you might be stepping the line.

Even the lurkers on this website know who Darth is. So it doesn't surprise me, to my mind he is an iconic antagonist and if he wouldn't have kept the flames fanned by being a thorn in everyone's side, I think alot of these discussion threads would be quite boring. It's always been a pleasant way to kill time, watching people trade blows with him and he always seemed to bring the best arguments out of the people debating.

As a side note, I'm Kinda glad I'm not popular on ArlongPark....I was infamous on another forum site.. course back then my posts were long, well thought out...but sometimes I got a little too passionate and angry lol man... part of me misses my intellectual days but it took too much effort. Part of me misses the attention and part of me is glad it's gone because of its negative aspects. Looking where Darth is now though, I sympathize.

I was like Monkey King light on MH before I got in one too many disagreements with one of the admins, after which he started provoking with silly infractions, posts deletions, stuff like that. It ultimately ended in a three month ban. Not sure if I'd ever make a profile here if it weren't for that.
