@Verus:
Are you sure? I'm pretty certain it was implied somewhere. Not for Whitebeard, but for others.
Perhaps something Gorosei have said? Or Garp? Or Sengoku? I'm not sure.
I won't say I'm sure. But I just don't remember any such implication.
@Verus:
Also, I'm pretty sure Shanks joined after One Piece was hidden. Which I'm pretty sure also was implied somewhere… I might be wrong though.
I just reread chapter 506.
Roger got a disease 4 years prior to execution.
Then in three years, they conquered grand line and probably near the end of their journey, they hid the One Piece.
Then they disbanded because there was no cure for Roger.
I don't see how Shanks could have joined Roger Pirates after the treasure was hidden since the crew disbanded pretty quickly after the journey.
@Verus:
… Actually, now that I think about it, if Shanks knew, shouldn't Buggy know as well? And if he does, shouldn't he try to get it?
Are we talking about the same Buggy here? It's a miracle enough he didn't shit his pants in front of Whitebeard.
He might be a little strong and have some followers, but New World is a pretty tough location for someone of his caliber.
Plus, he was trying to stay low since he is a former Roger crew mate.

@Tangaroa:
The implication isn't that they're all searching for the One Piece but that they're all equally powerful and none of them have yet to find a way to sweep the others off the board and become Pirate King unchallenged.
Agreed. I was just saying that finding One Piece isn't necessarily the goal of all Yonko.
@Tangaroa:
Not so sure about Shanks having such easy access to the One Piece. We don't know how long he stayed with Roger before striking out on his own.
I won't call it easy. But he should at least have some information on the matter.
New World is still supposed to be a terrifying sea and Raftel might just be too difficult to reach despite knowing the location.
And as desa said, he has never shown any kind of intent towards becoming Pirate King or finding One Piece.
@Tangaroa:
I'm not quite sure why everyone has the idea that gaining the One Piece and becoming the Pirate King is the same thing. Certainly I don't think you could search for the OP without facing incredibly strong foes and being PK would give you the best chance.
But does the Pirate King truly need to find it first? It doesn't sound like a crown. Certainly Roger still had enemies of nearly equal strength until the end of his career.
They are not the same thing. But to be Pirate King, you ought to reach Raftel. And One Piece is on Raftel. Quite similar goals.
