Interesting to see that they're making a third game after the craaaazy drop in sales numbers from the first to the second. I guess it won't have a big budget.
Oh well. I'll probably get it if it gets localized, even if it still keeps the awful art style from the previous games… Seems like such a crazy step backwards after playing Unlimited World Red, lol.
A limited/collector's edition could end up being my first PS4 game, actually - I'm a sucker for limited editions when it comes to One Piece games... -
Apart from an additional arc and characters, is there much they can do to improve? Never got the chance to play the previous titles, I hope this doesn't automatically make them obsolete.
Oh and because it's coming out on the PS4 I assume this will be the first One Piece media that will be viewable in 4K resolution!

If you mean the date on the scan, I thought that was just the date where they'll show more info + probably a trailer for the game at Tokyo Game Show.
Then again my Japanese skills are severely lacking so I didn't even bother trying to translate it, lol. Maybe the release date just so happened to coincide with TGS.
EDIT: Well, the scan clearly says "September 20th - September 21st", so it probably doesn't have anything to do with the release date.

Wow thanks for the scan redon, very cool that it's coming to PS4. With that screenshot of the cups at Ace and Whitebeard's graves there I'm sure Sabo will be playable.
Also the guy who tweeted the photo just confirmed it's releasing in 2015.

I can't remember exactly where I read it (it was a long time ago), but I do remember reading that although the first game had reached way over 1 million units sold, the second barely reached 500k for the PS3 and Vita versions combined… As said, though, it's been a long time, so maybe PW2's sales numbers improved since then.

Pretty sure that's correct.
Will probably buy this if it makes its way to the U.S. again (Sooner rather than later hopefully!) and hopefully it improves on the second game just as the second game improved on the first.

And that Chopper use his Walk point and Heavy point. :sad: I barely used him because of that.I expect at least 20 new characters :
- Dressrosa : Doflamingo, Fujitora, Trebol, Diamante, Burgess, Sabo, Cavendish, Bartolomeo, Chinjao, Rebecca
- Punk Hazard : Vergo, Monet, Caesar, Kinemon
- Past arcs : Hody, Lucci, Magellan
- Other : Shanks, Z, Shiki
I doubt Moria will make it.
I could also see Omega Force making characters like Vivi, Baby 5 or Tashigi playable.
As for the gameplay, I can't think of what they could do to improve it. I'll be perfectly fine if it stays almost the same.

Kaizoku Musou series have a bad record of being great. Unless they throw in a budget and it's AAA quality it's going to be a lame ass game. PW1 and 2 got boring real quick with the combat gimmicks which were entertaining for a few days after that the game got repetitive and a snoozefest very fast. The characters abilities/specials/ and moves are very limited and becomes a chore after you get used to the moveset. The story is straight up garbage and the made up aspect is nothing fun. Online has horrible lag and only online co-op not other modes. The limited character roster is very lacklucster when you have NPCs in the game that can be playable especially some of them have a good abilities that can be molded into the game. DLC has whack costumes instead of story add on or even Character DLC. This is a kind of game where it should be postponed until more content. They should do a story that has all of the story locations even if they twist if which I'm sure they will do. All in all this game is going to be a horrendous trainwreck. If this was PS4 only the game wouldn't be held back but since it's on ps3/vita it's gonna be limited in the content so you can expect a boring game after 2-3 days. Name is Kaizoku Boring 3 and there would be no difference.

Too many one piece games, so little time to play them. Very excited for the announcement. I'm expecting Doflamingo to be playable. He IS my favorite character to play in UWR, and I expect that trend to carry into Super Grand Battle X and this. Hopefully, the game will be better this time around, with a better story mode.

I'm fully expecting a new Ganbarion made One Piece game (most likely of the "Unlimited" series) to be announced shortly before KM3 gets released, as I noticed that BNG is following a pattern with their releases of OP games.

The grand battle series is great it always was, Pirate warriors is fun if you dont like Musou games it might no be your cup of tea but it doesn't mean the game is bad, Unlimited world games are usually nice also I dont like the controls and some stuff from this recent one but its a good series.
The only recent shitty One Piece game I can think about is Romance Dawn.

Just noticed the Dragon's Talon marks on the logo. That's pretty smart on Koei's part. I'm surprised at how excited I am for the game. Perhaps it's because Dressrosa arc is probably one of my most favorite arcs in the whole manga. I'm expecting that many of the Donquixote family members will be in the game, if only as NPC bosses.

I don't have a PS3, so I never was able to buy the first two games. My friend bought Pirate Warriors 1 though, and I thought it was just okay.
Now that I have a PS4, I'm pretty excited to be able to buy this one.

That site guesses the sales of games so Pirate Warriors 2 probably didn't sell that well.

Really hope they stick to canon story while maybe adding some sort of filler material that doesn't go full on bullshit like PW2's.
Hopefully it gets released to the West on all the announced platforms (PS4/Vita/PS3) be it physical and/or digital. I really wanted a localized version of PW2 for the Vita so hopefully Bamco will give PW3 Vita a chance in the West.

Just looked it up there and wow they haven't even upgraded? The PS4 and Xbox One seem like the most unimpressive console leaps yet, but what's the point if it's the same resolution and no backwards compatibility? Oh well at least this game is coming out.

Unlimited World Red and Grand Battle Rush aren't good games or are you're standards unnecessarily high?

after the surprise…I'm praying for it to come out only in the end of 2015. This series really needs some polishing and a bigger cast. They have some updates for most Strawhat characters (from memory, I think that Gomu Gomu UFO was the most recent move at the time that got added), and if they wait a little bit, they shall have much more (final fights in the manga are debuting, and we still need to know more about the ship situation).
Well, I only got PW2 when it was really cheap, so I know it will take a while before a put my hands on this one...hope the weekly news get me pumped all the way, though!

Not unlikely just somewhat impractical being that Dressrosa is still going on. And it's kind of redundant at this point.
I've often wondered about that myself; seems like being supported by people who only want you there so the world can end in fire (with you going to Hell in the process) would be somewhat off-putting

But Dressrosa should be over by the time this game is out, no? Even Punk Hazard (which was the current arc in the manga) was included in the second game.
From the scans, it seems like we're going to get some elements of the canon Dressrosa at least. I can see Issho's meteor shower from Green Bit, and the 3 sake cups left by Sabo at the gravestone. Guess it doesn't hurt to wait for more scans though… since this is a pretty basic one.
