Its way too early and I've had way too little sleep to be having this much feels.
Chapter 775: Love for Lucien
-
-
Being slightly late for One Piece is somewhat lucky, as I can use mangastream's crappy translations and avoid paying mangapanda anymore money.
-
Great chapter, really makes up for the garbage we got last week. This fight has been going on for nearly a year now but it's probably been my favourite fight of the arc. So much manliness, two men just tanking each others attacks, protecting Grandmas, protecting kitties, synchronised swimming and a plethora of suplexes. I loved it.
Really loved the flashback too, Lucy Anne/Lucien? had a cute design and I really liked how Gimley had Pink's hair curl. Franky wiping away Senor Pink's tear is only made better by Franky having a terminator eye.
In the immortal words of Naruto "
ObitoSenor Pink….He was the coolest guy!" -
Btw Gimlet is name of cocktail/ drink also called sailors medicine by some people.
Interesting origins of drink.
If that was oda's real intention in his name, does it mean gimlet died of a deficiency of Vitamin C?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gimlet_(cocktail)#Etymology (scurvy) -
This chapter felt more like a side-story than another chapter on OP…well, looking forward to the next real chapter then...
-
Shit of a fight, emotional jewel, pass!
Love Usopp's face in the cs, suppose is because Nami's hug.
-

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gimlet_(cocktail)#Etymology (scurvy)Or this - like Gimlets death drilling small hole/ piercing our hearts. Can be both can be more reasons for Oda to pick that name for Pinks son.
[h=2]Etymology[[/COLOR]edit][/h]The word "gimlet" used in this sense is first attested in 1928. The most obvious derivation is from the tool for drilling small holes, whose name is also used figuratively to describe something as sharp or piercing. Thus, the cocktail may have been named for its "penetrating" effects on the drinker.[5] -
The country of passion and love. sniff
-
since this fight oozed japanese pro wrestling,I think this should be mister pink's intro
-
@Shobu:
Shit of a fight, emotional jewel, pass!

Nami and Robin . But Ussop's expression sure is weird.
-
Jesus Christ, Senor's backstory is Sophie's Choice-level sad. Anybody who doesn't feel for this guy has no heart and should be reclassed as a grade A jerkwad.
-
When Oda says he's bursting with ideas and can't fit them all into one arc, he really, really means it.
-
Damn, I expected Jinbe's cover story, was the time when it would hint if it will lead to Sanji and his crew or has nothing to do with it.
Chapter was good, Mancherry's power gets even better, wonder how much would her life be shorter if she restores Dressrosa, since it likely for her to do that.
-
Oda sure can give a flashback to about anything. I wonder if he conceived his backstory right there and then when he came up with the design.
Given that each chapter continues from the previous, next one should start with Franky, probably heading towards or altogether destroying the factory. And then cut to Diamante or Pica. Dunno who's more important at this point, given Zoro's comment about Pica planning something and telling the other dude to hold off his King's Punch. Zoro and Pica has been dancing for as long as Franky and Pink have, so Pica can be taken down in one chapter. Diamante I'm unsure of. A chapter and a half, perhaps.
-
i was thinking..is that kind of vegetative state even possible in real life?
I mean being apparently fine,(eyes open, staying sit on the bed without collapsing) but still being unable to react to any outside stimuli? -
What a beautiful chapter. For the fist time reading one piece, I actually had a tear in my eye. Didn't think I would be shredding any tears over Pink. Didn't even like him at first.
-
Señor…such a man /sniff
-
It was a great chapter this week. Truly a battle between men. Poor Gimlett; Senor Pink now has more character development than some characters get over entire manga arcs.
-
@Bartholemew:
I also don't get the Jora part. And if she already knew more beforehand, how did she know it, when did she learn it and why didn't she tell it to Doffy earlier?
And back to Senzu Princess, what the family seemed to know was that she produced water (let's say from her fingertips) that could heal people, last chapter they found out that her tears had the same properties, but now Jora acts like Doflamingo must know the new skill list that she found out between tha last time that she was at that room and now, like reparing stuff and exchange life, things that didn't had any hint of, up to that point they didn't knew, and now Doffy must know?
Pretty sure the big news she mentioned is Mansherry escaping, not the restoration ability.
-
This chapter felt more like a side-story than another chapter on OP…well, looking forward to the next real chapter then...
You mean a chapter where Franky removed the most prominent blockage in terms of destroying the SMILE Factory?
Really not a side-story.
Especially compared to last weeks chapter.
-
That was beautiful man, I sure cried :cwy:
Instant 10/10

There is a german song who fits with (Lucy) Anne
and her raining Story with Pink: Max Herre - Anna
(Lyrics are like this: Anna immer wenn es regnet, muss ich an dich denken…)
(Anna, everytime it's raining I have to think of you).
Quite a fitting song for our Senior… -
Within a few pages, Senor Pink's circumstances just became more tragic or at least more touching than Kyros, Riku and Rebecca's pasts combined, and probably even Law's. It's long since a One Piece chapter really moved me like that. I wonder if that was on purpose from Oda's side, or if he simply didn't bother with the others' sad pasts as much as he did with this one.
-
When Franky and Pink finally meet again at a drink and Pink tells his whole Story to Franky, he'll probably be like this times 10:
http://www.mangapanda.com/one-piece/728/17 (bottom left Panel).
Or he just cries the biggest river ever seen in OP. -

I loved both of those flashbacks, but with the way this one was set up, I was more moved by it. Definitely one of the best chapters of this arc for me.

I dunno about that.
Kyros' past is pretty horrible too.
-
I really liked this chapter. Mancherry has a nice personality and I appreciate that even though I don't quite understand the extent of her ability. I like Señor Pink's back story. It was a lot different from what I imagined it could be and I wasn't even expecting him to get one.
The fight for me was underwhelming. It started out with them both showing a unique move and then we get little clips of them dancing and being ridiculous. I wish we could have seen more of that. Once we got to the meat of the fight it was just suplexes and punches. I wanted to see Pink use more baby themed attacks and utilize his devil fruit more (even though swimming up the tower was pretty cool.) For Franky I was expecting to see a cool new robot attack and not a flurry of punches. Overall I enjoyed the fight, it just wasn't what I expected. It's also surprising that Franky's back is still unarmored.
-
Next and last character that I expect to have somehow redeeming flashback will be Pica.
Mingo, Trebol and Diamante are beyond any hope and impossible to be redeemed in my eyes but Pica has a chance somehow.
-
I dunno about that.
Kyros' past is pretty horrible too.
Yeah, Kyros' flashback was great.
The flashbacks in this arc are pretty good in general, Law included.
Come and think of it, is this the arc with the most flashbacks? -

All of the seats know Doflamingo's "true character", so that's doubtful.

Full cyborgization should stay with Vegapunk and Kuma imo
Franky could have trained his back to be stronger and hold up to all weight and upgrades Franky did to his body also building up muscles to be able to decrease damage he takes from attack to his back.
He managed to tank over 30 attacks to his weak spot during this arc, thats something..–- Update From New Post Merge ---

Doesnt mean impossible.
Pica was not shown to be as cruel as Diamante and Trebol so I see a chance for him. Also he is almost like a gag character and standing out with a voice like that might have been reason for fucked up childhood for example, who knows.
I just thrown possibility out there, not being hellbent on it as it might be doubtful as you said. -
I had manly tears reading this chapter
-
i was thinking..is that kind of vegetative state even possible in real life?
I mean being apparently fine,(eyes open, staying sit on the bed without collapsing) but still being unable to react to any outside stimuli? If it's vegetable, why she's seat in her bed? xD
Señor should have had kidnapped Mansherry to heal Lucien… btw, forgot to mention but this a good solution for the stress provocated by Luffy's Gear Second in his body plus the one that Ivankov made on him, hope Luffy ends nearly destroyed by Dofla to heal that and the other stuff.
-
Somehow Lucien's unfortunate condition had more impact than any other flashback character death In this arc.
I didn't even feel that sad when Corazon died. But Lucien's state make me cry.
The flashback was short but pretty emotional. It's cliche but since this is the first time Oda use a comatose wife and dead baby as tragic backstory material. It's pretty effective. In the spoiler thread, I really can't overlook Senor's contribution to Dressrosa downfall despite him being a good person who saves granny and kitten.
I gave some thought to it. Honestly, the "good guy" aren't that innocent either. Law, Robin, Kyros and Viola did some pretty terrible things too. Yet I'm willing to overlook what they did.
I guess Senor is redeemable.Still, I don't understand why Senor is willing to work for Doffy.
-
I felt as though this chapter ripped out my heart and stomped on it, while I'm not a huge fan of Pink for what he says sometimes… I am caring more for him now in what happens to him after the arc simply because he does seem to have a good heart. :'(
I feel sympathy for him nonetheless, I just wonder what other tragic pasts other characters in the Donquixote family have.
-
I'm really looking forward to Franky blowing up the Smile factory with his laser. He's been wanting to do that for years now.
-
I dunno about that.
Kyros' past is pretty horrible too.
In any way Kyros' Story was pretty ironic: He wanted that everyone forgets about his "sins", but then everyone forgot about himself. What was also sad is that he couldn't feel his wife's warm Skin with his tin-Hands. That is for sure hard too.
-
Still, I don't understand why Senor is willing to work for Doffy.
Since Pink lost his own family, it doesn't surprise me that he'd join Doflamingo's 'family', as all of them call it.
-
I dunno about that.
Kyros' past is pretty horrible too.
Shame Kyro's flashback was rushed to presumably have the volume reach the climax of Sugar being defeated. It could have been one of the greats.
-
My prediction is that by the end of the series each Strawhat will have their own faction of allies to command. Pink will definitely be a prt of Franky's lol
-
Since Pink lost his own family, it doesn't surprise me that he'd join Doflamingo's 'family', as all of them call it.
He was already a pirate when he met Lucien. When Lucien told him she hates pirate, he lied he was a banker.

Simply put, Senor Pink was a fight for a man, not a robot. The way Franky defeats him is entirely fitting. Remember, Luffy marveled at Franky and called him a "man among men" way back when he did his pantless poem before he joined the crew.
-
I wanted to see Pink use more baby themed attacks and utilize his devil fruit more (even though swimming up the tower was pretty cool.)
It's a more original use of his fruit than a lot of DF users get in the series, to be fair.
The Baby Buster was pretty awesome in general.
For Franky I was expecting to see a cool new robot attack and not a flurry of punches.
Well Franky used his emergency cola stash to escape earlier in the arc, so it made sense.
Also, if Franky had finished Pink off with a cool new attack, why wouldn't he have used it earlier?
It wouldn't have made much sense for the fight to drag like that and then for Franky to pull something new and robotic out of the bag.
It's also surprising that Franky's back is still unarmored.
I'm also quite surprised by that.
-
Oda is probably saving Franky's cool new robotic attack for when he destroys the factory.
Senor's fight had to be settled with FISTS! -
Damnit I love tis chapter, fucking Pink fucking Pink and Franky makes me question my manhood.
Damnit, too much onions in my room:sad:
-
Franky beat Senor Pink without using his strongest weapons, cool )
-
Franky beat Senor Pink without using his strongest weapons, cool )
He had to use his fist because Franky is on his last cola so he is saving the big cyborg stuff for destroying the factory, so I believe.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
This chapter is definitely on my top 3 best chapters of Dressrosa arc.
-
Well, that was unexpectedly heartbreaking.
-
real men fight with their fist and this fight is a duel between two overly manly men.
-
The ability to restore anything at the cost of the user lifespan. Such shitty ability!
