@O:
I don't care to know if baby 5 is code, real name or nick name…
It's a code name, Law stated that in the chapter that we found he was a D.
Same with Buffalo.
-
I get the impression he walks a tightrope there. Sure, he's friendly with Baby 5, but Buffalo did take advantage of her nature. He stated she had a debt but that didn't stop him from asking her to loan him money.
Exactly! I get the feeling there is some closeness within the family, but overall it's all very dysfunctional and the lower ranks don't necessarily know the true story behind everything.
Maan, there's a high chance for Kidd to get all the spotlight after Law in the "make-a-line-and-wait-your-turn" for supernovas, and I don't think I'll be able to handle the hate towards Kidd, he already seems to be cooler than Law to me.
He'll be called smug for sure.
-
Yes you did here
Oh no I got that, but that's no different from the likes of Luffy and I would not call that fake since Oda showed how this family treat one another from the beginning.
-

And most likely the seats. Maybe even the other officers too.
-
And most likely the seats. Maybe even the other officers too.
The seats are definitely aliases too, since we know the title "Corazon" was given to two different people.
It'd be weird if Corazon was assigned, but the other seats just happened to have the names of the other 3 suits.
With the other officers we can't be sure.

This was a curiously touching chapter. There was mad-cap humour but the strong character work underlying it all gave it unexpected depth.
Baby5's flashback was tragic but not unexpected. It still added some real emotion.
With a name and theme like that it was telegraphed she was coming from a family that addressed her as a number rather than a name, though from an early chapter it showed she had one. It tell us a lot about her she continued to use her number. It tells us a lot about the Dofla family that they continued to use it. It seems Dofla will protect anyone from threats outside the family but within thet're expected to look after themselves and in all this time he's never bothered to change her name.Sai really grew and showing his inherent decency to not only a stranger but an opponent cemented it.
I'm not quite sure how much danger she was truly in as before she's become a fragmented bomb and didn't Dofla force her to shoot herself in her first appearance?
Oda also really establushed Sai in his, a guy that gets so worked up he ends up at a 180 from where he began. I'm happy for them.
I am adding Uholica of Nihou to the list of characters I look forward to seeing in the future.Don Chinjao was great. I just love him and it was another telling moment that after his head breaks again he doesn't rail but shows quiet dignity, announcing he's tired and the next generation is fit to take the reins. I loved that scene, the tear in his eye as he accepts it was beautiful.
And most of the humour in this chapter came fro his polar opposite, Lao G.
One of the jokes escaped me, was the haloed spirit coming out of his body a sign he was going too far or that it was an ultimate attack effect? Whatever, he was funny. An old man both using and refusing to accept his age but not limitations.
It was a bit undermined for me in that we've just waited so long to find out exactly what he does. I'm kind of glad it's not a DF.Oh and I will be refering Elizabello as Checkov's Elizabello from now on.

He was dying of old age =P

I realized that a Dellinger vs Koala would be fitting.
-
I realized that a Dellinger vs Koala would be fitting.
Yeah, that would be a nice fight.
Delly beats Ideo, then he fight Koala. -
I still feel like Dellinger Vs. Barto is the way it's gonna go down.
-
I realized that a Dellinger vs Koala would be fitting.
I realized that Robin and Koala vs Trebol will be more fitting.
-
I realized that Luffy vs DD won't happen.
Bellamy is strong enough to make Luffy use all his power and bring him to the edge of death. -
Looks like we're getting to the discussion I was looking forward to.
It raises questions about whether Lao G viewed Baby 5 solely as a tool, whether he was the only one to do so, whether Doflamingo felt any family loyalty to her or also only kept her as a tool, and if that Machiavellian perspective was the official secret Donquixote position, how far down the family did that knowledge spread?
For instance, Buffalo is an asshole but Senor Pink is a genuinely caring guy. If the Donquixote family as a whole saw Baby 5 as a tool, I can't help but think Pink would strongly object to it. Would Buffalo and Dellinger, who are the same age or younger, know?
Likewise, it makes me wonder who else some family members might consider merely tools. We've already seen Law and Baby 5. Will there be any more callous reveals?
Really, it depends on what direction Oda wants to take the arc. He could have the Donquixote family tear itself apart due to internal conflict or have the rest stay unfailingly loyal to Doflamingo, who reciprocates their affection and trust. Either route is better than the worn-out "loyal henchmen are cast aside by douchebag boss."
We have already seen with it with Monet, she sacrificed herself and DD was only there to encourage her to do it. I think that along the story we have been shown that he is in fact not a good person, that he just care about the final objective without care of who he may be affecting, he is a very twisted character. So of course it would be even the more beneficial to have a brainwashed crew. I think the whole concept of Family is just a tool to keep them tied and believing they are important.
Of course i would give a little more thought to the cases of old executives as for example Trebol, which seem to have a bigger influence and actually know what the business is about, but for the case of Dellinger, Baby 5, Buffalo, Monet..I would say they are only reserve cannon fodder

I still feel like Dellinger Vs. Barto is the way it's gonna go down.
Too easy, Gladius will be more of a challenge.

Pretty much feel the same way. Their interactions when Bartolomeo saved Bellamy add up to it.
-
Dellinger will lose his shit when he beaks a heel on a barrier

That's…. a pretty bad translation of that line.
Law: Trafalgar D Water Law. // I’m not meant to tell anyone this name, though…!! // I don’t go by a codename like you guys, so you already know most of it. / The D is my “hidden name” and Water is my “taboo name”. For generations, my family have...
Baby5: …Awww, that’s not much fun.
Buffalo: Yeah, it really isn’t.
Law: You’re the ones who wouldn’t stop asking!! // Ahh!!! // Hey!! Let me go!! What is it?!! / What do you want, Corazon?!!
Baby5: Oh dear, there he goes bullying him again.
Buffalo: Cora-san had a scarier face than usual just now…(Cnet128)

but Gladius is battling Cavendish?
I thought that Cavendish was on the level above? Damn. Violet needs to dump another map on us. Or six.
Other than that Barto's aleeady had a skirmish with Dellinger so unless both have devoloped some new moves it's going to be another slug-fest. Gladuus' power works sideways to Barto so that would be far more interesting.

IIRC bart provided a shield to cavendish and robin when they are in the mids of battle
so its possible to dellinger fighting bart.

So far you might be up for dissappointed if Ideo explodes dellingers face off. These fights have been more or less established in the last chapters, if you read them together you might notice the match ups or hints. I´m actually guessing that more colloseum contenders will go down because we still have quite a few running around. Ideo, Orlumbus, Ellizabello, Sai,Bartolomeo,Cavendish ( and I´m not even counting the ones that actually dissappeared Mummy, Meadows, Jean ango). When you compare the remaining colloseum contenders to officers at the plateau Dellinger,Gladius, Pica (he´s zoros pray ) then there are like 2 contenders for each executive. Somehow I think pica is going to put down someone.

Dellinger has already taken out 2 arena contestants, so I definitely wouldn't say that a defeat for him Vs. Ideo is set in stone.
-
Oda showed us that Ideo is equal to Sai and if that still stands then Ideo is definetely taking out Dellinger.
-

Indeed. All I´m saying is that, considering the story´s development lately, chances are we will get more exposition from Ideo than a random encounter (random because barto is busy with someone else) between barto and dellinger. Plus we have had two chapters filled with development for side characters, why would Oda miss the chance to give some more exposition to the only other colloseum fighter interested in repaying the straw hats that hasn´t had that much panel time lately? I dont buy it; besides there are many useful achievements that barto can afford where he is and on the higher plateau levels

Sai got a power up from love.
Ideo won't have it. -

I scanned the cover page…
Hey Sandman, there's some sorta of Christmas yon-koma on this edition? Thanks!

He usually updates on the fridays after the official release of a chapter so 770 will probably be up today or tomorrow and 771 next week. -

Those he had taken out might just return next chapter as if nothing happened. Just saying.

The barrier was only for Robin-sempai, while Cabbage was kind of holding Gladius for them.
If Ideo's punches can't defeat Dellinger is fine, 'cause King Punch totally can.
-
Oda showed us that Ideo is equal to Sai and if that still stands then Ideo is definetely taking out Dellinger.
That was before Sai's powerup.
Also, unlike Hajrudin or Sai, Ideo doesn't have a link with any relevant location and has way less screentime, so he's less important than the other 2.
-
I lolled at this. Because you know, love is a Hurricane
Now that i think about it. Ideo might get some love, Delly is a transvestite after all.
-
Those he had taken out might just return next chapter as if nothing happened. Just saying.
Hajrudin already pulled that card, and there's already more gladiators than officers remaining, so the idea is to have more gladiators defeated.
-
Oda also showed that Chinjao was above Ideo, but Sai managed to reach Chinjao's level just now with his new powerup.
Also, unlike Hajrudin or Sai, Ideo doesn't have a link with any relevant location and has way less screentime, so he's less important than the other 2.
How do you know that the Fighting Club will not be relevant to the story?
-
How do you know that the Fighting Club will not be relevant to the story?
Because it has barely been talked about?
Elbaf's been foreshadowed since Dorry & Brogy. And Kano Kuni is all but connected with Wano Kuni, which will be visited too.
Heck, we know more about Prodence and Suleiman's country than this fighting club.
-
Honestly, why are people acting like Sai getting married to Baby 5 is a good thing? Sai just looks ridiculously stupid and gross in his resolution in this chapter, which is disappointing as I enjoyed his character during the Corrida Colosseum battles.
As we have seen with Baby 5's interactions with the Donquixote Family, it is clear that Baby 5 cares about them and they care about her in return. This is even seen in this chapter, as Baby 5 calls to Lao G's 'spirit' to come back (which was hilarious). Doflamingo even goes out of his way to protect her from being married off, burning lecherous suitors' towns to the ground. The Donquixote Family gave her a home, the closest thing to a real family like she used to have, and its absolutely ridiculous how many people are reacting positively to the prospect of Baby 5 getting married to Sai. Sai only accepted a proposal to due to misunderstandings deriving from Baby 5's wanting to feel 'needed,' and claimed Baby 5 as a a sort of prize to be won by saying he will marry her after winning his battle. If she were to marry him, Baby 5 would still have the same 'I'm needed!' quirk and would not be faithful, and probably not what Sai or any of Baby 5's previous suitors would want. Even Lao G explained to Sai why Baby 5 acted like she did!
Honestly, it's ridiculous how much this fanbase tends to forget Buffalo! Him and Baby 5 have been friends for at least 16 years and have been shown to be very close, in both the present story-line (Punk Hazard, Dressrosa and Law's flashback). I highly doubt that Buffalo would be fine with Baby 5's proposed marriage to a random guy she just met, he would lose his partner and his closest friend. Hopefully he recovers from his fall from what feels like 100 chapters ago and defeats Sai, but one can only dream, right? This entire event would not have happened if Buffalo wasn't KOed, Baby 5 and Buffalo are always partnered together for a reason.
I would be great if Oda brought back Giolla as well, as she also has not gotten a proper battle (ending with an officer being 'eliminated'), and has not been seen in the current story for at least a year! Her ability is really fun to see in the manga as it is visually unique, and strong as well. Oda is a cruel man for giving so many great characters so little screen-time in this arc; I would much rather see them fight than the Colosseum fighters as most of them are pretty boring, in my opinion of course.
-

Yeah, it hasn't been talked about, but isn't Oda developing those characters which by the way each on of those character command some sort of fleet, so they might be relevant in the future but what would you know.
Elizabello a country, Sai a navy, The Admiral ships and who knows what else is in store for us.
-
1st RULE: You do not talk about FIGHT CLUB.
-
Dellinger has to go all out as now Sai finished up Lao G and Delli is against more enemies.
I would expect that he goes all out against Ideo and takes him out but gets damaged in process, then Blue Gilly gets back and kicks the shit out of Dellinger.Hajruding looked like a mess and he still stood up with most likely many broken bones and being knocked out for a moment from looks of it then managed to beat Machvise in really nice way,
so Blue Gilly can very likely get back on feet after Dellingers kick and fight again. Its not like only Luffy and main cast has strong fighting spirits
-

How can you tell if he is less important before his battle chapter? I could have said the same about sai last chapter and here we are now.

Blue Gilly took a KingPunch to the face not so long ago, the recovery from his recent K.O may take even longer so I wouldn't really count on him to take out Delly. Ideo on the other hand, is in a good shape and he seems more of seasoned fighter than Delly, due to age/skill difference or whatever. His showcasing against Sai was good too, not to mention that he sent the sleeping giant flying while Del found Mach heavy when he kicked him instead of Luffy..etc

How can you tell if he is less important before his battle chapter? I could have said the same about sai last chapter and here we are now.
Of all the C-Block participants, he had the least screentime. He punched an unconscious Hajrudin and then had a short duel with Sai before Chinjao swatted him away.
Also, both Hajrudin and Sai had important scenes before their battle chapters. Hajrudin was the one who grabbed Usopp and showed him to the rest of the gladiators as their savior. And Sai defended Luffy when he beat up Spartan and had an extended fight with the Funk Brothers. Ideo had literally no role outside his block, just like Blue Gilly or Suleiman.
I mean, look at those pages. Dude is literally grouped into a small corner while the Chinjao Family, Hajrudin, Elizabello and even Abdullah and Jeet (who together defeated a Doflamingo clone) are focused upon.

Which guy will be the next to shine? Its actually was seen in the Block fights which characters where more important…
B-Block: Bartolomeo, Elizabello are noteworthy... bellamys ist with Ruffy and Blue Gilly ist K.O.
C-Block: Ideo... Sai had his moment, and Chinjao is K.O.
D-Block: There was just Cavendish... -

Machvise could have been still using his ability while Del kicked him.
As for Ideo he has no connection to anything beside some kind of sport champions - fighters organisation in New World.
Also Sai didnt beaten Baby 5 that seems to be weakest in Commando Group but he managed to win with Lao G who was showing Vergo syndrome..
What I want to say that I take Dellinger to be stronger than Baby 5 and Ideo around same strength as Sai before unlocking final technique of his fighting style.Beside that Ideo looks more messed up than Dellinger does(even after he gotten hit by explosive punch, lol at Ideos "honorable" punching while enemy is looking away ) in last scene we seen them.
You really have fate in Blue Gilly
Fighters fighting with legs only are "awesomest"
