Was only a matter of time before they'd do this. Glad they are, I'll pick it up.

Ive only beaten MM once fully, i do have the collectors edition and the VC version, but for one reason or another i stopped during those and never got back to them. Glad ive now got one more reason to get all those masks once again.
The artwork for this one has far more love put into it then both OOT3D or ALBW. They copied the feel pretty good, enough to the point where it can blend in with the past artwork too (the character art anyway)

That art is going to look so great on my wall
…RIGHT NINTENDO?

Hmmm it might Hermit, it might.

Hmmm it might Hermit, it might.
I need something to spruce up my wall in my cave. Being away from civilization, the hermit lifestyle still requires some decor
-
It shouldn't cost too much to take the MASSIVE res image we already have for that and have it printed out on large glossy poster paper at a Fed-Ex/Kinkos.
-
I haven't seen anything massive res. Nothing that even comes close to the resolution of my monitor, and if it can't do that it won't look good on any decent-sized poster.
-
Just blow up a low res one and say that your poster is retro.
-
This one was the source used for the desktop wallpaper I showed you Foolio.
-
Oh okay that's pretty huge haha. But in that case you should have made a higher-res version for the wallpaper! Since one of my screens is 2560x1600 XD
-
… I can do that when I Get home lol.
My monitor is 1600x900 so I made it for that A:R. You said one of yours was 1900x1200 IIRC so that's the res I made yours at lol.
If you'd told me "2560x1600" I'd have done that lol.
-
I just didn't figure there was such an amazing-res source out there. But yeah my other monitor is 1920x1200.
-
Real quick for everyone. Someone actually took static frame grabs of the trailer and compared to the original.
Much easier to see the differences when it's not in motion! Looking GOOOOOD!
-
They did a remarkable job on the interiors. Wow.
I used to think the original graphics had actually aged well, but it's hard to say that looking at these comparisons. -
Yeah this is definitely more than just a port. Most of the changes are great. A couple I'm not sure about. Particularly the moon looks way scarier in the original than the weird mouth they gave it in the 3DS version.

definitely does look better, the new textures add quite a bit to its atmosphere as well.
Heres a vid of some of the footage in a comparison
-
The only shot I don't like is the one of the Happy Mask Salesman throttling Link.
It looks like they brightened it up, and I think it removes some of the atmosphere. Everything else looks great.
-
I would not make much comparisons now. I still think the shot we have seen are early in the build. Depsite it all, they look very nice… Although I can't say "improvement" considering the old graphics didn't age that bad for me.
-
They hopefully have left all the audio untouched.
-
I honestly would like the music to be re-orchestrated with actual instruments. Midi is fine for retro games, but i do wana hear the clocktown theme played by actual instruments in the game.
Also, I was under the assumption that this being a remake of a game that mainly reused Ocarina of Time Assets, that Development time was going to be super small since they'd just have to mostly reuse assets from OoT3D. Apparently, that is not the case.
The original game was kindof a rushed production. Ninendo EAD was working on a 64DD Expansion for OoT and in the middle of that, Aonuma got frustrated and said he wanted to expend his energy making an original entry in the series. They told him he could only do it if he could make the originally announced release date for the Expansion which was only about 16 months. That's why MM reused the OoT Engine and Assets.
It looks like they're taking a lot more time and care making this one. Has me really excited about the level of polish we're going to get, as well as the new features he's touting. I'd LOVE an optional Master Quest and Boss Rush for example. But only if Aonuma himself designs the remixed dungeons.

OoT 3D came out 2 years ago? Time sure flies.

lol these fuckers may have found the one way to make me get a New 3DS.
inb4 "master quest mode only accessible on New 3DS"

M](http://mynintendonews.com/2014/11/15/zelda-majoras-mask-3d-will-change-up-the-boss-fights-and-also-add-fishing/)M3D is going to be changing the boss fights
And will also add fishing
-
I can only assume the two statements are linked. I am totally ready for battlefishing Gyorg.
-
Fishing is separate. That does sound fun tho…
-
He does say you can fish up something 'monstrous'. inb4 gyorg is an optional boss through fishing and the great bay has a new boss.
I wonder if the rod is an item or if it works like ocarina of time. I assume the fishing locations are the swamp or ocean.
Inb4 fishing is new 3ds only :ninja:
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
also i am stuipid as i just realized gyorg was in the 3d trailer fuck
-
Well, both Twinmold and Gyork are prime for a remake, their boss fights are weird.
-

Read the article, the dude says that they aren't changing the basic fights. But if you go back and fight them things might be different on return trips.
I agree those two could use changes. Though I mostly think Twinmold was too ambitious an idea for back in 2000 to pull off properly and that mostly just needs some visual spiffing up.
-
Yeah, didn't read the article, lol.
-
The article Jinbo posted says one of the boss fights is being changed to make it more intuitive, but they didn't say which one. High chance it's either of the last two, though.
-
It will be revealed that they have made the Odolwa fight more intuitive
-
Goht will have a giant neon sign pointing to his iceberg saying "INSERT FIRE HERE."
-
Coupling the two statements together, you will have to battlefish Odolwa and Goht, but not Gyorg
-
Now all bosses can only be defeated with the fishing rod that changes appearance depending on which of the 24 masks you are wearing. They have spent at least 2 years of development time customizing these rods for the player experience.
-
Odolwa was probably one of the more interesting bosses in the game due to his very large moveset, and the fight itself boiling down to use of a variety of tactics. You can fight him with straight up sword and sheild, with bombs, with bomb-flowers if you don't have bombs, and with the bow. I feel the design of that first boss had decent selective difficulty curve that welcomed players that might or might not have done a ton of sidequests before entering the first dungeon.
The issue I got with him is… he's really easy to cheese, and I have alot of friends that were surprised by the moves/attacks they never even seen(because he never gets chance to do them XD).
Twinmold is the worst fight in the game for sure. It's a neat homage to an oldschool boss, but the boss does not have as much actions or change in phases outside speeding up. I'm hoping this one is revamped.
-
Odolwa was a neat boss, but he was pretty straightforward for a lot of people unless their expectation was that you needed the Hero's Bow.
Funny thing is that Majora's Mask's bosses all didn't necessitate the dungeon item to defeat them, although all the dungeon items were bows and different types of arrows really
-
Odolwa's interesting because he's this giant green warrior man who yells at you in Highland Maya and you have to beat him as plucky little Deku Link.
-
I actually tried beating Odolwa with Zora Link cuz why not.
His flame wave attack kept killing me.
-
Yeah so it says ONE boss was changed, and even then it might be upon re-fighting. I dunno, I'm not going to lie that I'm nervous about what they're planning to change. I also wonder if fishing will be completely for fun or if they added new items as rewards, or moved an item once gotten elsewhere to the pond(s). I also wonder WHERE the ponds are. But if they can add all this fishing crap… where's my MQ dungeons! :P
-
Eh, don't care about fishing, always found it boring in Zelda. Fishing is for animal crossing and pokemon.
No opinion on the bosses since I don't know them. Skipping through a lot of conversation to not learn preemptively how to kill everything xD

Lately I've been playing through all the Zelda Game starting with LOZ. I already beat the first two and now I'm playing through a Link to the Past. My ultimate goal is to speed run every Zelda title in order of release in one go. That means one of these day, I going to be staying up for 60-70 hours straight playing Zelda. Do you guys think I should carry out my self imposed challenged, or should I abandon it.

Every Zelda title??? You'll destroy yourself when you get to the 3D games!

….why? Why would anyone want to play zelda to inflict pain upon yourself? Just download the Philips CD-i zelda games if you want to do that...

Well, if glitches are involved both oot and albw can be done in about 2 hours together. LA and Alttp can be finished in 30. Both of those without emulators.

I've often toyed with the idea of a complete series play-through of my favorite series of all time, but a complete series, one sitting speedrun?! My hat is off to you my good sir/madam… that's dedication even I couldn't match.
One Zelda related conundrum I just came across, one thing I've always known but have been kinda curious about, in reading Japanese news and stuff for any new info about Majora's Mask 3D, I've been reminded of the fact that "Majora", written in Japanese, is actually written "Mujura" instead of, I would expect "Majora"... I mean, Japanese has the character set to make "Majora" exactly, it'd be "マジョラ"... So... why the discrepancy here? I mean, if it was meant to be "Mujura" then why not leave it that way in English?...
This might be a question for Foolio, or someone else who speaks Moon, unless Someone at Nintendo fielded this question in an interview at one point or it's in the Hyrule Historia and I missed it.
-
I think you should take your time and enjoy the games.
-
@Monkey:
I think you should take your time and enjoy the games.
I will; but when the time comes, I want to be able to say that I'm the fastest one man Zelda marathon player.
-
Speedrunning a long game like Wind Waker or Twilight Princess is already incredibly exhausting. I don't know how you'll ever be able to do all of them in one setting honestly.
