Should we judge Jigglypuff based on the alts?

It's kinda telling what they chose to make Pikachu and Jiggs' Alts.

Jiggs and Pikachu are both unique among the Pokemon in that, ALL of the rest of the Pokemon have full on palette swaps, while they get little hats.
Each of them has some Random ones like Googles, Party Hats, and Nightcaps that don't scream one gender or the other, but each also has 3-4 hats that are directly representative of existing hats of existing characters from elsewhere in the Pokemon Franchise.
They are as follows:

Jigglypuff:
White Hat - Female Trainer's Hat from FireRed & LeafGreen
Nurse - Nurse Joy's Hat from the X/Y Anime
Red Hat+Glasses - Female Trainer's Default Hat and Sunglasses from X & Y

Pikachu:
Red - Red's Hat from Red/Blue
Green - The Male Trainer's Headband from Emerald
Yellow - The Male Trainer's Hat from HeartGold & SoulSilver
Purple - Male Trainer's Hat from X & Y

Out of all the hats that actually come from characters in the series, Jiggs was given all hats from female characters, while Pikachu was given all hats from Male characters.
Pretty obvious here to figure out what's implied.

I'm more kind to considering them "it" since the hats don't make them male or female though. Seeing how they're pokemon, the consensus should definitely be that they're it regardless of clothing items. For Pikachu at least, though, we can assume it's a male pikachu given the tail, but unless there's similar markings for Jiggly to be male or female, then we don't know and we're only assuming, as much as we would be for Greninja and Charizard.

As for Mewtwo, there's only one Mewtwo in the canon as far as I know, and male voice or not the pokemon is supposed to be genderless. Lucario is most likely to be male given the gender ratio of that species.

Maybe whoever drew this pic simply decided that, separate character or not, Samus and ZSS ARE the same person, so they decided to only include one of them here. Notice: No Shiek.

I doubt that Sakurai or anyone in the team are making a statement by putting in the game a male jiggs with girl hats. Besides it's not a competitive mon, Sing, Rest, Rollout and Pound? phhhs.

Nintendo stumbles into a great rpg series and then the studio is afterwards only used for making more Mario sports games. Which are ok, but … sigh.

Also, there were three golden sun games? I thought there were just two for some reason.

The first two were made together as an enclosed story and were amazing. A third one was made for the DS, which wasn't as great, though still plenty good (the dialogue to gameplay ratio was kind of bad, but the gameplay and story were still legit). Like the first two games, it was made as a two part story and it cuts off without even close to a full resolution. Unfortunately, poor sales sort of landed the sequel in limbo. So technically, there should be a fourth one, but we're not sure if it will ever be made and so far the series ends without an ending.

So, curious, now that we know that DLC is definitely a thing, what is everybody hoping for considering future DLC Characters? Do you guys think more alt costumes for the existing fighters would be good additional DLC? What about Stages?

Also, for characters, should there be more of an epmhasis on Newcomers to hit the scene via DLC, or should the primary focus be on restoring some/all of the cut fighters?

For Reference, here are all the cut fighers in the series:

Cut After Mele:
Roy (Clone)

Cut After Brawl:
Ice Climbers
Lucas (Semi-Clone)(Ness has moves via customs)
Wolf
Ivysaur
Squirtle
Snake

NOTE: For the purposes of this list, Toon Link in Brawl and beyond is being considered the successor to Young Link in Mele, and therefore Young Link is not counted as a dropped character.

Personally, I don't miss any of the cut characters except Lucas, and even then, with Lucas' specials being alt specials for Ness, I think I'd like to see him be future DLC in the form of a DLC costume.

Also, while not fond of Ice Climbers in particular, I do understand their place as series staples, and it'd be nice if extra development time allowed Sakurai to get them to work on the 3DS so we can have them back, if only because we'd then have the ENTIRE unique roster of Mele back in play, as the only two remaining cut characters from that are straight-up clones (And Lucina fills Roy's spot in that regard on top of it)

Here's the DLC I'd like to see:

Golden Sun: Uprising to feature a revolutionary difficulty system where the game starts at max difficulty and drops it a little every time you die for the rest of the game. You have no way of scaling back up. If you attempt to save scum through this, the game automatically drops to 0 difficulty forever and every character's face gets replaced with Sakurai's smug mug.

You get a sticker for completing the game at every difficulty.

Have any of you guys played Smash with the new 3ds? It really changes and simplifies things. I only played for a little while and i guess someone good can do impressive things in it b: I guess Japanese have an edge in the game right now.

Isaac : My favourite RPG on a handheld console is Golden Sun. He could have a lot of potential with his djinns. You could even make Felix and/or Matthew as an alt/clone.
Bayonetta : My favourite BTA. One of my main motivation to get the WiiU. Plenty of moveset materials. You wouldn't have to "tone her down" that much to make it work IMO.
Fiora : We saw a glimpse of her "spoiler" trophy in the direct, so Sakurai doesn't seem to care about "that" being a spoiler (with Sheik and Lucina, it was already clear to me). She has a lot of potential with alternate colors being obvious if you played the game. And by the time the DLC would be out, the N3DS remake should be out as well, which could serve as a promotion.
Isa Jo : Since Saki is still an AT, the next best choice from that franchise would be his son.
Andy : I couldn't really see a moveset for him until I saw Bowser Jr and DHD. Now I could see it work. Something like tank/jeep on the ground, plane as a recovery, specials and smash attacks ordering infantry to attack.
Impa : The fourth recurrent character from Zelda. I want her if she's different enough from Sheik.
Dixie Kong : The third recurrent playable character from DKC. I want her if she's different enough from Diddy Kong.

As for the stages, my only wish would be "Big Blue" if it's not returning this time.

Pic of the day. The color variations for Shulk are all based off outfit colors of his travel companions…excluding one of them. Lucina's color variations are also based off the female characters in Fire Emblem Awakening.

I assume some of the future PoTDs will elaborate on the new stages and modes, but the direct did give us the meat and potatoes…

although! We still need that Duck Hunt trailer.

Basically, but it cut off mid-story. Like they were expecting to make a fourth game, but didn't because they thought interest was too low. As it is, the series ends on an awkward note, halfway through an unfinished plot. For that reason, there's still hope for a fourth game in the series, if only to actually finish what they started.
