If I got it correctly… Law's father was most likely the D in the family.
If so, the story really will be interesting to see, why DoFla hates them so much.. And it could make the first connection to the world nobles.

Homing was an interesting one. It was very admirable of him to forego his birthright, and admit to the absurdity of the whole CD system. He is the only good person who is also a CD we have seen
But at the same time, he was ridiculously naive. They've been brutalising humans for ccenturies, and he expects to just waltz in and live amongst them?
All in all, he was a good man who was born in the wrong place at the wrong time and his family paid the price for his naievete dearly

It may well be that Oda is following this structure where Doflamingo is Napoleon and Law is the whole concept of the battle of Waterloo as in finishing with him, with the help of the strawhats.

Alright Darth, I'll take a crack at it. You are slightly wrong. I think most of us can agree that Homing is naive. He has the best intentions, but he didn't fully understand the world he was in. He wanted the best for his family, which I think is the key thing you are missing. You complained that most of APforums doesn't understand life, but neither do you, because it seems you are missing the logistics of one thing: parenting. You complain that you dislike Homing because he made the decision for his family. No shit. That's what a dad does. Mamaflamingo decided that he was right and went with her. Don't you think if she didn't agree with his decision that she would have stayed, probably with the children? Parents make decisions for their children. My name is not Goku, because that's probably the name I would have picked for myself at the time. But my parents knew what was better for me.
Homing had the best intentions. He thought that what the CD's were doing was wrong and decided to leave with his family. We don't know if he ever tried to counteract some of their more deplorable actions. We don't have enough information to speculate. It's not like he downgraded their lifestyle either, unless you count all of the awful benefits of being a CD. He took a lot of treasure with them. I'd say enough to support them for the foreseeable future. The only thing he didn't anticipate is his son's loud mouth. Hopefully, Homing tried to teach Doffy why Doffy was wrong, and why the CD's were wrong, but again I don't think we have enough information to make a claim either way.
Again, Homing was naive. It is perfectly reasonable to dislike him because of it. But he isn't an asshole or a monster on par with the CDs.

This makes me think that there might be a bloodline connection between LAW and Luffy. Cousins or something. Kinda time that the mother's side of Luffy's family enters the story.

I mean, to be honest i think we may even have a third Law arc, because Kaido will be furius at StawHats and Law, so i expect more(and i expect more from the other ex supernova too)
I like that since Punk Hazard the plot is moving.
About Law importance, it is expected, at this point it won't be anymore Straw hats vs the world- there will be allies, and those allies have to be linked to the plot and has importance.
How we could take Law seriusly if he is less important plot wise of…Chopper?
Straw hats are important because they are the main with Luffy-but it's obvius that the captains (the revals/Allies of Luffy) will be more important plot wise than any strawhats.
Shrank too, even he had less pannel time is more important plotwise than any strawhats (except Luffy of course)-expect revelations about him too, we still know nothing about him.

Maybe Roci have some balance problem, or disorder, maybe a mortal one. That's why Doffy is already looking for someone to replace him (even before planning or wanting to kill him himself).
On the one hand, the CD could have planned that intentionally.
On the other, the land could have been close by so collateral damage would have been inevitable. Given the monstrosities the CDs are, finding an island not horribly affected by them could have been far and in between.
Better than what I think could have been the third option, Homing visited the island one day with a group of CD and thought it was a nice place to live while his buddies were off shooting that kid 16 times and collecting their offering.
Definitely could see that being the case. He decides to call it quits, and the rest of them decide to show him what they've all got coming by dropping them somewhere where violent resentment is likely to occur.
So Oda finally reveals Laws connection to D, it wasn't really a shock. He's always had that D look to him and that "D will cause a storm" line after leaving Amazon Lily had me convinced that Law either had knowledge of the Ds or was one himself. Yet knowledge of the ancients is hard to come by, it wasn't even confirmed how Robin knew of the Ds unless they were a well known topic amongst scholars in Ohara or she read it privately. But Law being a D makes perfect sense if you look at his relationship with Luffy (<– see profile pic). They have a brotherly bond similar to kid Luffy and Ace. There's a clear difference in personality and attitude but they share an almost inevitable connection which grows the longer they remain together. Oda is differentiating the Ds so we get a better understanding of why Luffy is the "chosen one" or whatever. Whitebeard was used as a means to show this as he knew Roger, Blackbeard, Ace & Luffy (briefly) and probably came to the conclusion that the one who'll uncover the true history will have the strongest will depending on their character and view of the world.
I wonder if Law will realise that his purpose may be to help make Luffy Pirate King (since Luffy convinces everyone he meets that he'll be the next PK). So far the trend is that Ds live and die for the cause, whether directly or indirectly, which usually accelerates after their death. Ace protected Luffy and eventually died to save him to further the cause, I wonder what role Law will play in terms of inherited will. He seems a good shout for nakama right now, but he has his own crew and we can't lose Bepo.
I'm glad we're getting more depth to Donflamingo now, I'm liking how realistic Oda made DD's dad's decision to live as an equal. Even though it was the "righteous" decision it ended up with him suffering and pleading for help, which I wouldn't have expected because he seemed very wise and composed, but shit happens. Going from everything to nothing (or vise versa) gives a clearer outlook to life from both sides, I'm interested in hearing the interaction between DD and Luffy.

See, here's a thing: We were never explicitly told that Celestial Dragons need to do bad stuff.
Do they need to have slaves? Can they not donate money to charity, or created things beneficial to the populace? They are "Gods". Surely "Gods" don't have such limitations placed upon themselfs?
See, the way I think about it: Why couldn't the guy use his immense power, ifluence and wealth to do some good in the world, instead of going on whimsical soul-searching trip with his entire family?
Probably because he wanted to live by example. Gods don't have to be all powerful and certainly not self proclaimed gods. Even then he is just one god amongst all tenryuubito so it's not really known what he can do on his own, maybe they decide everything major as a group and they wouldnt accept him doing 'çharity' stuff like freeing slaves because of the implications it would have on the slaves of the other tenryuubito.
Can't bring myself to hate Doffy as much as I used too anymore.. Law even looks like the more ungrateful one here. That may change with Cora's death and Vergo's metal beating.

Maybe someone maybe made a call on this one, but seeing this nice-guy-CD-dad I would not be completely taken back if he told his sons to end his life and bring his corpse to the other CDs in hope of getting back in the club.
But at the same time, the say Doflamingo says how he killed his dad (because the latter "was an idiot") I suppose it may be more likely that Doflamingo simply is somewhat of a douche.
At least this is the first proper backstory for a villain (well, unless one would consider Franky's initial appearance etcetc), and actually kind of the first backstory of a villain I am interested in :D
