MS is already breaking down… on June 9th the XBox One will have a price cut to $399 without Kinect.
The Microsoft / XBONE 180 thread

Didn't see that coming. Thought they would have stuck to their guns when it came to Kinect.
-
Just like they stuck to their guns with their DRM policy? :P
-
Well still do not give a damn… But good for new buyers.

This isn't news many people saw this coming by virtue of the fact that the built in Kinect jacked up the price of the standard system.
-
But… "developers will KNOW the kinect is in every system and so can confidently design for it!"
Peripheral is officially optional and dead now.
-
Bump
It's seems that the One's sales have doubled since Microsoft released the system without Kinect
https://games.yahoo.com/news/fall-xbox-studios-shows-online-221604814.htmlThough apparently the PS4 still outsold the One during the month of June
https://games.yahoo.com/news/june-2014-npd-ps4-xbox-223030786.htmlAnd lastly Microsoft is shutting down Xbox Entertainment Studios which means no original programming for 360,One, or Windows owners though I don't think anyone will miss it.

I'm sad that the closing of that studio apparently won't affect Quantum Break. Having a TV show tie in to a video game is such a stupid idea and Remedy is pissing their talent away working for Microsoft.

Why the pessimism?
-
Alan Wake was already changed a lot from what it was supposed to be because of Remedy getting close to Microsoft. I just feel they could be so much better if they weren't working for Microsoft.
-
Oh that makes sense.
-
So Ryse just got announced for PC just like Dead Rising 3, also I believe there was a leak sometime ago that The Master Chief Collection was also going to be on PC. Does the Xbone have any real exclusives left at this point beyond Sunset Overdrive?
I'm starting to regret buying this system simply because I had the money for it at the time… I swore that it'd get a handful of exclusives of note like the 360. Then again, I don't have a gaming PC so it'll be the only way for me to play Ryse and DR3 anyways.
-
Why did you get an Xbone and not a PS4? Unless you got both? The ports to PC are just attempts at salvaging a profit. If the games had sold well on their initial release the ports wouldn't be happening. I have a hard time imagining anyone cares either. Both games are probably just afterthought purchases if they see them on a really cheap sale. I don't think the PC sales of Ryse are going to help Crytek not die.
-
Question is: who is a big enough doofus to buy an XBONE for an exclusive like Ryse anyway?

I was given a little bit of money by my Grandfather as an inheritance so I bought a PS4, Xbone, Wii-U, and a Vita.

Treading all grounds hey? And in order what has been the best so far? Curious to know what someone who has access to all thinks.
Also why a vita considering where it currently stands? I assume you already have a 3ds?

Damn with that kind of money you' could've bought a gaming PC.

The Vita honestly… I only bought it cause of PS+. I dislike handhelds (yes I own a 3DS but have barely played it) but bought it because I could and who knows what'll happen in the future. I bought Persona 4 Golden... but I'd much rather play it on my TV when the PlayStation TV releases. I bought the Vita basically for the rare Vita game that doesn't support PSTV that interests me. Probably will never happen but, hell, I bought everything else so why not?
As for where I stand: I honestly can't say, I haven't played enough games. The Xbone is definitely in last place tho as there was literally only one game on it I was even interested in and that was Titanfall... a multiplayer only game when I don't like multiplayer. Ultimately it was a big waste of money, but as a gamer I wanted to cover my bases while I could. I now have the peace of mind that I'll be able to play any game I want to this generation that isn't PC-only. That's enough.
@Green_vs_Red:Damn with that kind of money you' could've bought a gaming PC.
I wanted one, but I couldn't afford everything and I would not choose PC over console. Consoles are way more my thing and PlayStation has some of the best games so yeah. I'm more interested in a more powerful computer for it just being able to do things better and faster.
-
The vita is good guys you should give it a chance
Crawls back to small vita hole to play with the only other 2 people who have a vitaThe Xbone looks like it might at least have a couple exclusive games to play in the future judging from E3 like that Kamiya game and sunset overdrive. I personally wouldn't buy it now but maybe at the end of the console's life I could see myself picking it up for cheap to play some games.
-
Sunset Overdrive honestly doesn't look great to me, but I'm in the minority there. Hopefully Scalebound will be good, I'm also looking forward to Gamescom as we finally are going to get to see more of Quantum Break. Besides I never played any of the Halo games so the Master Chief collection is a release I wanna play.
-
I like how sunset looks and plays, but get the feeling it will get old fast.

-
I think the vita is great, if you are a fan of japanese rpgs, other japanese niche games and indie games. And I personally don't need big western titles like uncharted etc. on a vita, because games like that I rather play on the home consoles.^^
-
I want the MCC for the chance to play the 4 Halos plus Halo 2 Anniversary. One of my favorites.
-
Must have been all those people pirating Xbox One's, eh Crytek?
-
:wassat:Who wants Ryse 2?
-
Nobody.^^ As well as all the other crytek games to be honest. I found all of them to just be mediocore, good looking shooters at best.
-
When Crytek die I don't think anyone is going to bother turning up at their funeral.
-

Crysis 1 and Warhead are great games. That's about it though.
-
the Crytek engine is actually supposed to be pretty decent so it is a shame in that sense.
-
The crytek engine is used quite a bit i think but the company themselves are just shallow/big headed

rip in piece reboot raider
-
LOL what a coincidence… Before this announcement I went to GS and traded in my PS4 version of Tomb Raider... Found it boring.
And Square is shooting themselves in the foot. No matter how much money they got right now, they could kill the franchise with it.

This sucks… I liked reboot but I guess it was last Tomb Raider game I will ever play.
-
Really hope that's just an exclusive for some months/a year.
Otherwise last TR I'll ever played. -
don't worry it will be for PC too
-
Oh noez no next gen moaning on pc and ps4. I think I'll survive.
-
Welp, feeling a bit better for buying an Xbone. The reboot was a great game.
-
Uncharted will destroy the game after all LOL. The game also did underwhelming for Square and now they are cutting the release for the best selling console and PC.
Awesome Square… But fast money is better.
Well Square and Capcom sucks after all
-
Most signs seem to point toward it being a timed exclusive (like just about every other game that's been exclusive?). I guess the other question is if it'll come to PS4 at some point which at this point I'd guess yes.
-

Wouldn't be the first time someone killed or nearly killed the Tomb Raider property.
-
We all know that in 2016 there will be a goty or definitive edition coming for pc and ps4 anyway, cause square knows that tomb raider will not be a huge success on the xbone alone, no matter how much microsoft payed for the exclusivity it will not make the same as having it on all plattforms. I find this new tactic of making third party titles exclusive dumb. With bayonetta it made sense, since we wouldn't have gotten a second game if it weren't for nintendo. But here it's just microsoft throwing their money around, because they desperately wanna catch up to sony.
-
Or it could have been them who approached Microsoft. Square/CD could've gone to both Sony and Microsoft and said "We need support for this game, give us money and we'll do an exclusivity deal and Microsoft bit."
-

This practice is older than you think.

Exactly, I don't know why people think this is something new
-

Pretty much this - it's likely a Marketing or Management decision that was done to ensure they would have enough cash to complete it - with someone saying it'll be ok the PC/PS gamers will whinge and whine and then still buy it regardless when it goes multiplatform.
And you know what they're right - when they open it up to multi-platform people will buy the pre-orders and the collectors editions and Crystal Dynamics only has to whether a few months of people posting crap on their forums.
Now if people don't actually buy it when it goes multiplatform maybe then companies will take threats of Boycotts a little more seriously - right now the consumer is considered about as threatening as a parents 5th child/toddler threatening to hold its breath till it gets what it wants.
-
This is an old practice, but it's almost unheard of today, when games earn millions of dollars. I'm actually shocked that TR will be only on Xbone. I haven't heard of an exclusive deal like this for a pretty long time, if we're talking about a well known franchise. Maybe Bayonetta 2 could compare a little, but I think TR is bigger. And it coming only to Xbone - damn, I can't even think how much cash Microsoft must've put into this.Or it's just that Tomb Raider 2 isn't coming to PC and PS4, but Tomb Raider 2: Definitive Edition will.
-
For people who want the game but not an XBox One
Confirmed to be "timed"
-
Yeah, just came to say the same, Phil basically confirmed it's a timed exclusive. No wonder, as I said - stuff like this ALMOST never happens, it's just too much cash. It'd be like if Sony somehow paid Rockstart enough cash, to get GTA6 only on PS4 and PC.
-
Thank god it's just timed
