I like a lot of them in the manga … but hearing the anime voice actors. Ugh, they often make the odd laughs so high pitched its grating on the ears.
Perona's "horohorohoro" wasn't quite as high pitched at some others, Garp's "Bwahahaha" thankfully was done well.

Speaking of odd laughs, I miss the odd laugh Usopp did. Most of the times he chuckles or small laughs. But in Thriller Bark he gave a different laugh than the "hahaha".
When he defeated Perona, Usopp gave a laugh that's often called the 'classic evil laugh"= "Mwuhahahaha"
Or was that just a bad translation on some website? I could swear the "mwuhahaha" was official and also in the anime but I can't find it.

Well duh. In the manga you're just reading them not hearing them. lol.

I like all of them in the anime. No exceptions. I friggin' loved Moria's laugh. I even look it up on youtube from time to time just to listen to it again.

No he didn't.
Franky and the Square sisters wore the masks because there was a festival on a neighboring island.
With the Sea Train connecting the islands making it easy to travel between them, the festival atmosphere existed in Water 7.

I think it was Chopper that asked about why so many people (so not only Franky was wearing one) wearing masks, Robin explained about the festival. That was why it was so easy for Usopp to get a mask to use when he created the identity of Sogeking on the spur of the moment.

Most people find Satori's laugh in the anime annoying, but I didn't. I was more annoyed by his brothers (in the manga as well) Hotori and Kotori. Not because of their laughs, but because their personalities and sense of humor were annoying.

No that wasn't what I said. I said that I'm beginning to fear that the D in Blackbeard's name isn't the same D as "The Will of D" and it's just a pure coincidence. If it was coincidental then that means that all people with the true "Will of D" are born to be good.

It'd be nice if people with the Will of D could potentially turn evil of their own free will.

I've decided the think I want the least to happen in OP is to bring in prophecies or "chosen one" garbage like the recent chapters of Naruto did. I realize that the Ds are probably significant to the Ancient Kingdom, but I don't want it to go further than that.

Well, then. I'm not sure if I want or don't want an explanation for all the insane luck Luffy has in this show if not a "chosen" one.

Theres a difference between being a chosen one In-universe and being a chosen one out of it. The former irritates me to no end because it's a tired cliche and the latter is often an unfortunate side effect of having a single main character in a story all about action and adventure. Particularly one that goes on for a long ass time

Adding to that, OP is about a group of people who literally depend on each other to survive. A sudden "Nope, turns out only one of you's actually important because destiny!" would be totally counter to that.

I've never been a big Harry Potter fan and by the 4390284th time he got saved by a plot device (i.e. flying car coming to save him) I lost all belief/respect for the story and character. I still watched the rest though because it was tolerable and fun to make fun of. (In the end he must've run out of plot devices and sucked so bad that even JK Rowling couldn't save him... had to die and come back)
Luffy, on the other hand, actually has ability to do things, but either way we still know he's not gonna die before the story's over and he'll reach his goal, since it wouldn't make sense from the writer's perspective for anything else to happen. I don't think he'd put in a "chosen one" thing though. But we'll see how far the "inherited will"/D thing goes. Probably not too far... we've gotten this far without it (or any explanation of it) being needed at all

I could overload this forum with things I don't want to see. The problem is that these are things that everyone else in the fandom loves so I'd just need to tolerate it if any of them do show up.

Like, I hope to god that Dragon isn't a hilariously broken badass. But we all know that that's going to happen.

The books are better than the movies … eexcpet the last 2, esp bk 7, they suck.

Book 6 was bad, but book 7 was the worst. There are parts that are so different from previous books made me think that it itself was fanfiction (Ron speaking parseltounge to open the Chamber despite previous books say its rare and not a learned skill, saying he learned it because Harry talks in his sleep- WTF It took me 3 weeks to pick up the book and finish after that cap)

I agree I don't want some 'chosen one' crap in my One Piece. But with you mentioning HP-verse and their plot devises and my reply, I hope we never see something similar to the 'there's a rare skill/talent that few have but in the last arc, one character whose never shown having that skill/talent will have or imitate it as a vital part of the final fight or for the final part of the journey'.

Something like that would be like = on the final island before reaching Raftel, the clue to reach it is on a ponyglyph. Rogin is busy fighting and not on location and they need the info fast … so out of the blue Usopp shows he's able to read it.
Some lame ass excuse is given like "I've hanged around Robin so much as she works with her notes I was able to pick up a few words."

Yeah as much as I love Usopp I do not want to see that!

Yeah the good thing about One Piece compared to other main character-centric fictions is that there are lot of characters who are growing and have grown besides Luffy. All the supernovas could honestly have their own back stories as well as most of the older, successful characters like Garp, WB etc.

Luffy is just another pirate looking for One Piece and he works the hardest to reach it.

Harry Potter is just another story purely revolving around the chosen one, no one else is important and if they are it's to help the chosen one.

As much as I do like (the first 5) Harry Potter books, you're correct on that. In OP, we know about the "milestone moment" that tragic or inspiring moment that really helps shape the characters, not only of Luffy, but of rest (… okay most of the crew, Brook's inspiration wasn't from childhood) of the crew. We know childhood of Harry, but not of Hermione or Ron, but we do know some the abuse of Neville went through.... even though he's not even one of the main support characters.

I hope we don't get too many more strawhats… Oda already had to get rid of some to make room for more of these extra characters with humdrum backstories this arc, and it's still bouncing between characters like crazy every chapter

jimbei is almost given already though and maybe one more woman. i understand your concern though, some of the strawhats are getting less role/screentime/importance in each arc, like nami/robin never really fight again or brook never really do anything too important to the arc anymore.

Nami helped take down Baby 5 and Buffalo.

i understand that those guys DID something and not just run around doing nothing, it just that what they actually did seems less important than before. like nami + usopp's fight feels more of a 'leftover' fight, not a 'real' fight like she had with kalifa for example. before, each SH got their own major enemies to fight (almost to death). now not all SH fighting major enemies in each arc. yes, I KNOW that fighting is not the only thing they do, they each has more role than just fighting, i just use the fighting as an example of how some of them got less something than before.

Nami taking down Kalifa to avenge Sanji isn't the same as Nami taking down Baby 5 when she clearly doesn't want to fight. But i'm not worried, I'm sure Oda has prepared plenty of great moments for every strawhats.

As for new Straw Hats I believe Oda has confirmed two more recently. One of them, probably the last to "officially" join, is likely Jinbe, already a well-developed character, but I can definitely see being concerned that the other, whoever it is, might get screentime-screwed.

So far, Oda's been able to handle nine members efficiently all things considered. Imagine One Piece though if it was handled by Kubo or Kishimoto. I can't imagine many of the Straw Hats, namely Nami and Usopp, would have maintained their relevancy to this day.

For me, I'd hate it if Don Krieg came back. I don't know why but I never really liked this character. Of all the East Blue villains, he was really boring. If Kuro made a return though, I'd be ecstatic.

fishmen being the most relevant non human race (they got their own arc) surely needs to be represented by the SHs. jimbei will take the role so that's done. the next thing that needs to be done is to balance the male female ratio by adding another female member (hopefully a funny/stupid/strong woman, not another smart sexy women like nami robin). after that i dont really care. a minkmen can be good though as it can diverse the crew more and can act as the second 'mascot' aside from chopper.

in regards to the thread, i hope we dont see another swordsman/sexy woman/pervert to join the crew as they are alrady abudant at this point.

I totally agree. It's funny to see Nami and Robin so stone faced when "cool" stuff like General Franky happens, but I'd really like to see another female member cheer alongside the guys. No matter who she is though, I hope that first and foremost she works with the OP universe (and perhaps isn't a damsel in distress-like character for a major arc like Nami and Robin were).

i hope she's someone like lola or dadan so not only she differ in character, she also differ in terms of looks. i enjoy chars like lola dadan or syuin from the current chapter. there are lots of weird guys but not so much weird girls so when they appear i always enjoy them.

-Shanks turning out to be evil.
-Bounty hunters never becoming the threat they should be. It just makes no sense for the world government to put out such astronomical bounties and not have bred a world with extremely strong bounty hunters. They should be a huge threat in this series.
-Luffy aquiring any more powers. If there turns out to be some fourth haki or a way for him to eat another devil fruit I will go jump directly into a volcano.
-More drama from one of the main characters being related to someone powerful in the series. I thought Ace being related to Roger was one of the dumbest decisions thus far in the series personally.
-The series ending on a gag (like Buggy being pirate king).
-Any more characters surviving ridiculous attacks.
-Usopp or Nami eating a devil fruit.
-Territories failing to play a big part in the new world. I really want to see how the straw hats fair when strategy must become a tool they have to use. I especially want to see if any development comes of Luffy because of this.
-Fishman Island not paying any real consequences for Luffy's impulsive choice to protect them. I don't expect a huge amount of character developement from OP, but if there's one thing Luffy desperately needs, it's to learn that his impulsivity gets people killed.
-Luffy becoming so strong he can one-shot an admiral.
-Someone taking Sanji's place in the monster trio.

I think the funniest one has been Brownbeard. Guy must've come back from the dead a million times in one arc... heck, he was even considered dead before the arc even began. But it ended with "oh, btw, just found out I'm poisoned, gonna turn myself in now". Oda's writing in a way that was convenient for him made Brownbeard become a total tool for that arc

I've decided another thing I wouldn't want is for the more morally-ambiguous members of the World Government to be totally vilified. I'm not talking about people like Smoker and Tashigi, who are basically total heroes by now, or saying Akainu or the Elders should turn good, but the people in the middle like Magellan, Garp, and Sengoku, the ones who honestly believe they're making the world better. They're some of my favorite characters in the series, and I think it'd suck if Oda were to turn the narrative not only against the Sakazuki types, but them as well.

I don't think Garp's at all morally ambiguous. His lines are pretty well established. I'd argue he's located the same place on the scale as Smoker, Kuzan, and Coby are.

Oda reinforcing his current sexist trend by having Chopper create a "Unicorn Point"- Powerful front legs like Arm Point, back legs like Jumping Point, and antlers grown together into a single, spiralling horn- only to have Luffy shrug it off while Nami and Robin go sparkly-eyed and coo "CUUUUUTE!" in unison.
