A tag team would make Luffy look bad. Especially when he has yet to go all out.

Saying that Doula Mongo is too good for Luffy's arsenal is based on what? Luffy has already shown to be fast enough to see, react and dodge the strings when he saved Kyros. And he didn't even use CoA.

A way more likely scenario would be Law confronting Doula first, losing, and then Luffy takes over after dealing with somebody else.

Not so much of a team effort but both will be doing something, we just dont knw what Oda has in store for us.

As for the kyros scene. Luffy was able to see the clone come up from behind, giving him time to race up and save Kyros, these types of scrnes are seen a lot in One Piece and other series. As for One Piece, take Ivankov saving Luffy from Kizaru when he didnt see Kizaru. It doesnt make Ivankov stronger than an Admiral simply because he/she was able to be quick in response amd save Luffy. Thats not to say Luffy isnt able to take on Doflamingo.

To me Doflamingo is clearly stronger but it does not mean Luffy cant defeat him because of that. I mean, look at every other villain Luffy has thought, particularly Lucci and crocodile.

Then again, whos fight is this? Its Laws. Laws reason outweighs Luffys.. Then again my prediction is it will be a repeat ofSmoker vs vergo then Law comes in to fight. Except in this case Luffy isnt 1 shotting anyone.

Until Luffy fights Doula properly for our sake, and see what little thing Luffy has over Doula, we will all say "ahh" so thats how, just like with any other villain, shoutout to crocodile.

It would be strange that you could use CoC but couldn't use the other 2, considering that CoC is much more selective than the others. Not saying it's impossible, but that would still be strange.

And i agree, but I have a pretty wierd feeling that that is the case. Many questions could be asked about Ace. Personally, i hope he does have it, but Odas weigh up would be that Doula does not have it.

There are many arguments to suggest why he could have it and possibly why not, but thats just speculation on both ends.

Yeah, it's not impossible for Doffy to not have CoO and I can't think of an instance that proves he definitely has it.

On the other hand, like I said it'd be weird to have 2 of them (including the super rare one) and for some reason be missing the third.

Also, when it comes to things like Doffy using parasite, and being able to seemingly control many people at once over a fair distance, that suggests some usage of CoO to me.

I'd love a Koala fight, though. And I think Kanjuro will get something. I don't know what, but kind of like Kinemon's full body introduction was really badass, cutting a massive explosion in the blink of an eye, something like that might be cool. Why not defeat an officer?

And I don't think Violet will have a fight, either. She'll try to defend King Riku and Usopp against the citizens, but since she won't be willing to hurt them innocent dressrosans, she'll be easily taken out. Just like Chopper against the giant kids in PH. Then some talk no jutsu will probably turn the citizens in their favour.

Robin and Barto MUST have a fight though. And Rebecca will be the one to give the decisive hit against Diamante.

I don't know, when I see Luffy perfectly capable of PUNCHING an island sized ship into oblivion, I think his strength has massively leaped. Him and Zoro have been taking some nice holidays since the time-skip begun.

Not gonna lie, say what you will about Ennies Lobby as a whole, but man was the art fantastic, and the fight scenes had some freaking nice coreography.

Im pretty sure officer matchups are with the escapees.. Didnt last chapter pretty much put it clearly.
Dellinger and Blue gilly are in the same area so..

In term of difficulty for the strawhats, Fishman Island was like Whiskey Peak and Punk Hazard like Little Garden. But I'm convinced that Dressrosa will have this Alabasta/Water 7 climax with its epic fights.

Dellinger fought Barto in an enclosed area that really played into Barto's hands.

We saw in Block B that Bellamy was able to get around Barto's barriers and grab him, in a much more open area that allowed that kind of thing to happen. I don't think brute force is really an option when it comes to those barriers.

We never saw any serious attempt from Diamante to break or otherwise get round Barto's barriers. He seemed perfectly content to emotionally torture Rebecca through the barrier.

Dellinger most likely holds a grudge against Barto for preventing him carrying out his mission to get rid of Bellamy and will be looking to attack Luffy. Barto's first priority is seemingly to protect Luffy. These things add up to a potential match up.

Especially considering people are getting impaled like crazy right now. Who's going to have the ideal defence against such an attack? Barto.

I'm not saying that Luffy has gotten so strong over the timeskip that this battle will be anything other than extremely difficult for him.

However, I do think that he'll win, and he'll defeat Doffy alone.

It would really kind of invalidate the timeskip if Luffy were to fail his first real test after it.

I think Luffy will deal with Doffy alone and Law is there not to fight but to provide backstory and context ad to witness Doffy's fall, when Luffy takes down Doffy alone something not even Law could do then it will have a huge effect on Law and perhaps he will start to believe that Luffy could/should be pirate king after all.

Law's long term goal seems to be revenge on Doffy for Corazon's death if Luffy brings down Doffy then Law will become yet another strong ally for Luffy moving forwards, as Law has continually stated during this and previous arc his alliance with Luffy is merely to achieve his goals but if Luffy takes out Doffy their alliance will become something far more than it is now.

I am not saying that Law will join the crew as he has a crew of his own, but he will owe Luffy big time just like many others will do after this arc is done.

When Luffy takes out Doffy he will finally show what the training and timeskip was really all about, as the fights Luffy has had so far have been pretty lacklustre since the timeskip. I think Doffy is the ideal opponent for Luffy as I dont think the Vice Admirals are a match for Luffy now and it is too soon for an Admiral battle, the fight will show the new world how strong Luffy has become, his new status will then make it more realistic for Jimbei to join the crew.

If it wasn't for Law Luffy would be probably dead already. I believe it's Luffy owing something to Law. Eventually Happo Navy, Heart Pirates and sooner or later Fishman Pirates will be SH divisions. I think IMHO.

Yep, I agree with all of this wholeheartedly.

Doffy is at a lovely level where he's obviously stronger than the vast majority of people, but isn't quite up to that top tier.

A nice milestone for Luffy on his way to the top.

Blue Gilly and Ideo aren't big players. If Oda intended for those particular characters to do something major like defeating an officer, he would have spent more time developing them like Cavendish or Bartolomeo. They don't have enough pull to have a 1-on-1 against major villains and win.

I would argue that Hajrudin and even Dagama are more important than guys like Blue Gilly, considering that they've done things outside the block fights.

In the end, the ones who should be winning this battle should be the officers, so that the Donquixote Pirates actually look like having the upper hand again.

Well right now the Colosseum fighters main goal is to stop the Officers and their soldiers from passing, so 1on1 fights are a huge possibility regardless if some fighters are less important than others.

I'd put… if you'll excuse my indulgence in power level wank.
Luffy, Cavendish, and Chin Jao with his "drill" at the high end. Tentatively, Bartolomeo is here too, but I think his power is really only suited for defense or one on one fights.
Sai, Ideo, Bluegilly and Elizabello without a fully charged punch in the upper-middle. Hajrudin might go here just because he's a guy that Luffy used a big attack to beat.
Dagama, Abdullah and Jeet are in the lower-middle grouping. They are decent enough fighters who rely on their intelligence, wits and dirty tricks to pull off wins.
Boo, Ohlumbus and Suleiman are in the lower grouping. They are good fighters, and probably stronger than the people directly above them, but they lack the tactics to beat a more powerful opponent and the "explosive power" that the top two groups have.

I think people are more excited about having a real Villain with no corks or a stupid laugh Like Arlong,Enel,Rob Lucci, and Crocodile. I know that's why I feed into the hype but it will end with a Doffy and Luffy 1 on 1

The more importance, the more chance of getting an actual 1-on-1 and winning.

Again, this is not about power.

Well Blue Gilly won with Riku in a fight and was closest to KO Elizabello with his shooting moon that I would not be suprised to actually see langing on somebody (akhemdellingerakhem).
Suleiman gotten some swings at Rebecca and then Hakuba demolished him with one slash(Orlumbus as only fighter I seen managed to try and attack Hakuba but missed btw) and this time
he thought Dellinger is just some child and not any threat at all, then in moments he was jumped at and KOed.

It would be really boring to read if you think that only Chinjao has some chances for good fight with Officers of Mingos family- so you seen that Suleiman and Dagama getting hit so you expect
all of fighters to fall to officers just like that? I expect a lot of not surely one sided fighting. Sure more of Colosseum guys should fall so Robin, Bartolomeo and Rebecca have people to fight with
but we are yet to see how it will work out.

She will be fighting on level 4 most probably so she has pretty high cliff at her disposal

Aren't they like the only Block B and C contenders that haven't done or said anything outside of the ring? They weren't introduced during 704, had no interactions with Luffy or anyone else in-between matches, and even in the melee scenes they barely have noticeable lines beyond "get this!" or "beware of that!".

You're missing the point. Blue Gilly having a nice showing on his block battle means very little.

Aren't they like the only Block B and C contenders that haven't done or said anything outside of the ring? They weren't introduced during 704, had no interactions with Luffy or anyone else in-between matches, and even in the melee scenes they barely have noticeable lines beyond "get this!" or "beware of that!".

Blue Gilly and Ideo's plot contribution were pretty much exclusive to their block fights.

In that sense, they're not more important than Suleiman or Orlumbus. Hajrudin, Elizabello and even Dagama got more scenes than them outside of the Colosseum.

The point that you're missing is that Blue Gilly is an undeveloped side-character with little screentime. He's not important enough to take down one of Doula Mongo's main fighters.

In that context, he is similar to Suleiman, who got defeated pretty easily. Blue Gilly might offer more resistance, but I really doubt he's gonna win.

I also dont say he will win for sure but he has pretty big chance to take out at leas lowest of Doflamingo forces- Dellinger is at bottom of food chain in Doflamingos crew.

Don't overrate Blue Gilly's feats though. He defeated an old man with a blunt sword and kicked Dagama out of the ring.

And feats don't really mean much. Character focus and development are what matters. Blue Gilly did very little to deserve beating one of the main fighters. It would be the equivalent of Tilestone defeating one of the CP9.

Blue Gilly can take down grunts though.

I dont say I dont agree with King Cannons argumentation here, I just say I expect different outcome than what is expected to happen now.

Development sure is of value in match ups but as we know what became of Tilestone, yet we dont know what role characters from Colosseum will have.
Maybe some of them beside Chinajo and his fleet will also play some part in story, just because they are introduced this arc we should not be so sure of future.
Even of match ups as Oda is free to do what he can as always and really suprise us.

Bartolomeo winning was somewhat predictable. It was D-Block that was tricky.

Oh, I agree entirely that they will play future roles.

But the Donquixote Pirates, as the main antagonist group of the current arc, still need to show why they are a threat. And if they're going to be taken down, then allow people who actually did stuff throughout the arc to do it, not some guys who barely interacted with Luffy and decided to join the cause 5 chapters ago.

Actually Block B was totally predictable. When there is a character favored to win/succeed the opposite usually happens.

Well I was for Barto during the match, but it was only a preference, not a prediction.

You aren't saying that the difference in power between the gladiators and the officer are the same than the one between tilestone and the CP9 I hope ?

And when you see how Kyros defeated Buffalo very easily, how both Buffalo et Baby 5 couldn't do anything against the Franky Shogun, it's hard to consider the officers like real threat to people of Luffy's level. so against people like Ideo or Blue Gilly, they should show a good fight and even if they lose, at least we'll be able what are their powers. And let's not forget that the "real bosses" are the Highest Officer : Trebol, Diamante and Picca.
