@tang:
Lets recount what happened in this chapter.
- A woman tries to fight franky
- Franky kisses her against her will and told her not to take it too seriously
- Senor Pink agreed and told her its the only way to shut women up who interfered in two men's fight
- The rest of the ladies go gaga over these two men.
Is it too hard for Oda to be a little bit more fair and not be a complete sexist jackass? Add to that every female character needing someone to save them in every arc and the ballooning of nami's and robin's breasts while they have generally gotten more and more useless. Pretty soon they will just be there for fanservice.
I thought i would bring something up about this..
One Piece or other manga are known for the typical tight waste and big tits of characters..
Whilst it is very obvious that OP women have big breasts there are different factors as well.
For example. How many citizens in different Arcs or newsflashes and recaps can anyone actually see having the same bodies as Nami, Robin and Hancock?
Oda uses good bodies to make characters distinct and standout. Citizens are very average people, nothing special.
However..
Even though people dont notice it, Oda actually does the same thing with men.
Look at every single main character in the series (male) and notice how just about all have an aesthetic physique. Good muscle, tone, physique, v taper backs, chest abs, shredded.. The whole lot..
Whereas normal citizens are just pretty average and have none of that..
I believe Oda uses maybe overexaggerated (distinct better word) physiques and bodies to help bring out characters and make them memorable.
When the timeskip occured and the Strawhats reuinted, everyone could notice Nami and Robins breast development (mainly nami cause she was still kinda growing). Yea sure people noticed Usopps muscle tone.. But how many people actually brought this up under a sexism topic?
Every strawhat (brook exempt cause nomuscle) has had body development aesthetically.. Muscle tone, breasts etc.
By men having that for me establishes an equilibrium between female and male bodies.
Why dont people go and speak about sexism on men?
Sexism is a universal term and applies to male and females.
This is why i dont find Oda sexist especially in this category.
Oda does consider these things im sure. Whilst he gives important females good bodies he equals it out by giving men the same attwntion and care.
I like that Oda gives people these sorts of bodies and body traits.. It helps for me when reading to identify the characters easily.
I love Attack on titan and it has no fan service whatsoever, or at least none i have noticed.. However reading the chapters monthly and not paying much attention to it makes me forget characters, the designs are simple and theres nothing really to make them stand out like OP characters, and is a pain at times with me trying to figure out who is who.
My evaluation is that Oda uses distinct designs such as good bodies to help us remember characters a lot better and not to be sexist.
As for the typical damsel in distress, its not sexist. Its just mainstream and overused.
I remember writing short stories in school. My teachers said to not write about saving a girl or something similar because its overused and lacks originality. Out of all my teachers, none mentioned it being sexist.
