I figured that with all those life-shortening techniques and stunt, Luffy would drop dead from natural causes being twenty, or something along those lines.
Yeah i think Luffy's going to die shortly after becoming the pirate king

Love it. The only other one I could see dying at the end is Brook. He will have met up with Laboon, and after having helped Luffy and being able to do what his crew couldn't, he'll be ready to pass on to meet up with the rest of his crew that past away, and tell the tales of what he did.

Moving on for one final rendition of Binks' Sake.

No joke, I actually started tearing up a little at the thought of that being Brooks fate at the end. It would be both happy and sad. You know you've done well when you make someone sad at the prospect of a skeleton dying.

The Humming Swordsman.
THE SOUL KING
A gentleman as well as a pervert. He touched the heart of many through his songs. Fans were sad after his last concert, but it was worse when he left the world. His soul lives on in everyone else's soul.
I had a crazy thought. Brook is no longer part of this arc so that when the Soul King is shown in Bleach finally, One Piece fans can hope Brook took his soul to Bleach for a little bit so we could enjoy it a little bit, because he is the one and only Soul King.
Is anyone else afraid that franky is gonna die soon? :(
He can't die now, he has a EoS battle to win with Kuma and claim the 'World's best cyborg' title.

Good catch. Do you think Zoro will get Kinemon's sword? Orrr do you think Luffy will get salty for getting beaten to One Piece? :P

Yahahaha! I think it's not the sword. For me it's a skill developed by Kin, a skill that Zoro will learn in the future with his own sword.

If anything yours is a wrong translation.
If you see they freely translated it and made it a pun in English: salineden city as slaying dynasty which are both the same sounding in English. The one from Ramistar even explains the japanese pun, explaining the Japanese words are the same sounding.
And derp, its Kinemons skill I guess…
Well my link isn't from a really good fansub either. Having the original and a Japanese reader would settles it.

Yea, we could use a confirmation on this one. Just seems somewhat obvious since one left the japanese pun intact and references it while the other seems very likely turned into an English play on words. But you never know I guess
Just finished re-reading Thriller Bark/Jaya-Skypeia and once again I'm confused why so many people hate these to arcs.

Thriller Bark is one of my favorite arcs. I love the setting and general absurdity.
Who told you that ? Skypia and Thriller Bark are the most adventure oriented arcs in the serie. They are great IMO.

The entire fanbase. I've always been fans of those arcs but I don't know if it's the anime or what but people really dislike them.
I actually think Skypiea/Jaya is one of the best arcs in Shonen and I'm dissapointed that it doesn't get that recognition.
Personally, I love Skypiea.
Like what's already been said, it's more adventure-oriented, with the genre of the series varying on the arcs.
Though, I can't really blame others for disliking Skypeia since most of the English fan base prefer action heavy arcs; Enies Lobby or Marineford – not that I don't like them either.
But it is a shame, since adventure is the essence of the series.

SH don't get new bounties afterwards and people see Sky Island as a wasted saga for this reason… People honestly think like that... I honestly love Skypeia/Jaya for exactly the reason that you have stated: adventure is the essence of the series.

That's stupid.
Altough I have to admit to not being a big fan of Skypiea because it contributes rather little to overall myth arc, which is mercilessly slow at the best of times.
Sorry, delete this post.

Oda has hinted at myth for hundreds of chapters and will end up revealing it all in like 5 chapters 5 years from now
What do you guys think of the Dressrosa arc so far? I've been actually rereading it.
I still love the Norland connection, the Fujitora vs. Law vs. Doflaming clash, Sabo's reintroduction. I wish we'd had more adventuring in the Tontota Kingdom and seen more of the place. These guys are cute. Robin's been the most active in this arc since forever. She's gotten a lot of little action bits. Law got defeated by Dofla, Big mom appeared, Ussop's absurd face and Sugar being knocked out. Then, Dofla actually caring about his subordinates. Anything Fujitora vs Sabo. Quite a few highlights.
I suppose it's still hard to say, since the arc isn't over yet, but I think Alabasta is pretty much the best comparison. There's a lot of great things in it, but it's not perfect, just like I felt about Alabasta, at least.
Though, where the hell is Ceasar, actually?
@Galaxy:
He's with Sanji's group on the Sunny.
Oh yeah, I forgot already. There's a lot of players in this arc, a lot more than any other arc so far, but I like that each one gets to do at least something.

I think I. . .like it? Like, I'm not in love with it, and I think it has TOO MANY flaws for me to consider it one of the great ones. But I think its best asset is that it has charm, and the prospect of fighting Doflamingo and the promise it brings of a good, bloody, deathly fight with the first trully strong villain since Magellan (not counting Marineford for obvious reasons) is a good enough catch to keep on reading, even through the questionable stuff like the uneven pace of the climax, the abuse of not-too-exciting set up and Oda's sudden issues with the way he handles his characters.
Still, and for the record, even while not "perfect" or "flawless" (too much jumping around between scenes and too much off-paneling), first half of the arc is pretty damned great, and Oda created some of the best characters in years. It's definitely not as good right now, though it's not terrible and some chapters (or part of them at least) range from good to very good.

Enjoyable but waaaaaaay too much characters.

We haven't reached the climax of the arc yet; how do you know what the pacing will be like?
EDIT:
Enjoyable but waaaaaaay too much characters.
I agree; this is probably the biggest weakness of the arc. Don't get me wrong; I actually haven't really disliked any of the characters introduced. I've thought a few (like Bartolomeo and Fujitora) were fantastic, many of them (like most of block D) were solid enough as background (or secondary) characters, and a few I found lacking (Viola and Rebecca are two notable examples. Viola appears for a gag with Sanji, and then to play Ms Exposition: this suits her powers and placement, but leaves the character feeling a bit flat, and while she's had a couple moments, I'm not going to miss her after this arc. Rebecca is a reasonably complex character and I with sensible reasons for her more actions, but I feel like she's built up some hype that still has yet to pay off. I'm inclined to agree with the people that argue that we're in the middle of a character arc for her, and later this arc we'll see her either protect Kyros or get a blow in on Diamante or something, but either way, it hasn't happened yet and so there's that issue with her), but there are so many, and only a limited number of panels available per chapter. When you try to include more characters, it's easy to increase the number of chapters it takes for the action to advance, and if you try to cut down on that, individual scenes can feel rushed. When you minimize the number of panels you dedicate to something, you show only what you think are the most relevant parts.
We haven't reached the climax of the arc yet; how do you know what the pacing will be like?
Well, I consider the climax the phase we're at right now: Dofla throws his final desperation move (Bird Cage), a battle royale starts, and the end-of-the-arc 1 vs. 1's are nearly all set-up (some still not quite there, though). Maybe I'm wrong in the concept itself though, I won't deny that.

That's the whole point to being the Pirate King, you can sail where you want, when you want.

That's nonsense. Bounties rarely get updated anyway. The reason people don't like Skypeia is like Darth said, because it doesn't contribute very much to the overall plot or the history of the world. That sense of adventure that attracts many people to it also irritates others who want the story to move forward.
Personally, I don't mind the sense of adventure. What I dislike about Skypeia is how the tail end of the arc drags like crazy. Except for the flashback, which is my favorite in the series.

From Wikipedia: The climax or turning point of a narrative work is its point of highest tension or drama or when the action starts in which the solution is given.
We're still in the phase of rising action. Sure, someone could argue that the solution already is given (beat Doffy), but considering what we have seen until now I'd say this is just way too early.
Assuming that Luffy will finally beat Doffy 1vs1, I'd say the beginning of the climax is when they will exchange their final attacks (if you go by point of highest tension or drama) or when their final battle starts and Luffy proves that he can hold a candle (if you go by when the action starts in which the solution is given).

I think the difference is whether you consider the climax to be a section or a single point. It's like whether you consider the climax of Alabasta to be all of Alubarna or just the bomb/Crocodile's asswhooping. This certainly feels like the climactic phase of Dressrosa, but Oda will probably raise the emotional stakes some more right before Doffy's defeat. There tends to be a gap between the underlings' defeat and the final boss during which everyone pins their hopes on Luffy.
People who think Skypiea didn't contribute much to the over all plot or history of the world should get 5 across the eyes! After all was said and done we learned more about 1 color of Haki, we learned there were space aliens in the One Piece world, biological and mechanical, we learned that the Shandians were one way or another allied with the Ancient Kingdom since they were tasked with protecting a Poneglyph and not to mention how dials and Klabauterman affected the story later.
It's hard to tell now because Eneru is still the man in the moon and those story elements aren't in our face yet but Skypiea is going to be one of those arcs that we look back on with minds blown by the fact that Luffy was winking at the audience with wings on his back.

Did you guys notice Jabra's epic cosplay on the cover of chapter 506 and 509 and 514 ?
What happened to all the references to the great Vegapunk?
Skypiea is the most unique ark in all the series jaya was great too…plus Thriller Bark episodes made me cry from laughing sure they were not as epic as alabasta or EL but they do have other cons

Skypiea was unique, but probably one of my least favorite arcs. TB was very entertaining though, as you've stated. On another note, I just finished watching Zatoichi and The One Armed Swordsman and noticed the character parallels Oda has referenced as Fujitora fits the former and Shanks the latter. My thinking is that the unseen admiral might fit the physical description of the antagonist in the original Zatoichi-a wide brimmed hat and fierce eyes. Thoughts?
Didn't we get a sketch of ryoku in the latest sbs?
@LordEnel:
Didn't we get a sketch of ryoku in the latest sbs?
Nah, the sketch was of another "potential" admiral that Oda sketched out in the SBS ( like Pink Bunny in the previous).
Some people think that a recent volume intro image may be the basis for Green Bull though.
Some people were betting Toshiro Mifune as the basis for next admiral, if I recall.
