Yeah, cuffed an transported everywhere like an old suitcase haha, btw where is he now we don't see him in the last panels with the "army"
Very refreshing and fun chapter, gimmick gag stuff on every page
On the bull with Luffy facing the sky

On the bull with Luffy facing the sky
I love this chapter, just seeing it be a slow chapter in a supposedly rushed arc.
On the bull with Luffy facing the sky
It looks like he's wondering how his life became like this and has just given up, lol.
Aye to that! And this time, the one blocking them doesn't seem quite so invincible :)
Yeah, the more progress in the story even without actual fights the enemies seem less and less threatening lol.
On the bull with Luffy facing the sky
Ha yeah thanks, i didn't see his head which exceeds, the cleaning scan quality doesn't help
Pica's panels are wonderful! I'd also like to see that spread with the charging army colored, very much like the escape of Impel down.
Cavendish is awesome on his role, the other side of fan service with Bartho
Luffy always gathers the weirdests allies, definitely the Pirates King!
Hmm, some people missing from that army.
But lol @ Law still being drug along in cuffs. Come on Luffy, let him doctor himself up at least!
I love how Oda fucked up all seriousness in Law character, teaming with Strawhats (especially Luffy), it looked like it was already planned to have fun with a just "too cool" guy

he's cuffed with Luffy's friendship
I think literally the only complaint that I have about this chapter is that everyone just suddenly popped up without there being any of the usual "Hey, Strawhat…" panels indicating that another character is entering the scene. Felt just a tad bit rushed because of that.
But, man, what a glorious chapter. Oda has always been at his best with writing controlled chaos.
I need Darkminya to tell me if this
chapter turned out good or not.
Decent chapter, but too much wasted panels
not much happened in the chapter, but it was needed to assemble the "anti-doflamingo force" and give hthem their motivations..all in all it wasn't even padded as a chapter
Fun chapter, I liked the good old pace even though not much happened.
Real Dressrosa arc just started im tellin´ya.
Why is Oda spending so much time focusing on fodder in Block B/C/D, dur?
The morons that said things along those lines now have a nice black and white answer.
Yay!
every one but meadows lol
ROFL @ Team Luffy !
I give this chapter, imho, 10 out 10.
If Oda had planned it in a deterrent way and added the fighting lion to the supporting group and made Zoro ride it instead, I would have died of happiness.
I love Law's facial expressions
Not a bad chapter overall, good to see more of Cavendish as well!
pretty fun chapter.
Basicially it's a giant "in your face" to all the people who complained during the tournament matches and their colorful cast of characters "why are we focusing on fodder???" Luffy, Law, and Zoro (who scolds Luffy again but doesn't be serious again) get blasted away by Pica, who is extremely imposing might I add.
They land in the colosseum, where all kinds of allies are ready to help kill Doflamingo: Cavendish, Chinjao, Boo, Sai, Ideo….it's great. Cavendish's banter with Luffy and Law was hiliarous. And aww, look! Lucy has found Ucy.
the new alliance rushes forward to fight some goons, and Elizabello/Chinjao smash Pica's arm. Holy shit, that was awesome. I do hope that Pica is far from done, but man oh man, the teamwork is great.
I don't get why Luffy haven't released Law yet from his cuffs. Doesn't seem very much like Luffy's character to abuse such power. I guess he may have forgotten about the key Violet gave him?
forcing someone to do what he wants it's TOTALLY in character for luffy
I give this chapter, imho, 10 out 10.

On that panel where they are charging, pay attention to all of them,
zoro is just boss in comparison to the others
I just love Law expression in the spread. I keep imagining him as a tumblr user "#I'msodonewiththis #Ihatethis #Imissmycrew #HateMugiwara"
Finallly, the Colosseum fighters are making use of themselves.
I wonder if the charge-up for Elizabello's punch is going to be used as a sort of visual timer for the rest of the arc.
@Myu:
I think you can't argue against them. Those people are mostly the ones that can't graduate the slow pace and want only the rewarding actions. It should be crystal clear the formula Oda use by now anyway. This isn't something new.
True, but I just goddamn love vindication.
It's definitely a tossup between sniffing felt tip pens and vindication when it comes to getting high.
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
every one but meadows lol
Ah, yes.
Meadows.
The great shame of AP.
Haven't finished reading yet, but I'm laughing my ass off already. And for those who didn't like that Luffy had no motivation for going for Mingo, Luffy just gave one now, paying his debt to Becca for paying for his lunch. lol
did we actually see meadows get struk by Cavendish? or was he just shown unconcious?

Isn't him sitting on the back of Ucy? But yeah, Zoro standing on the fighting lion would be legendary.
And i would like to see again the gorilla's coming out of nowhere in the colosseum crowd

Just shown unconcious in the "Kamaitachi of Rommel" chapter
Random thought that popped into my head: Abdullah and Jeet would be perfect for dealing with Senor Pink. Both parties have the same basic strategy: to get the opponent off guard and attack from behind. But there's only one Senor Pink, and A&J fight as a team. While Pink attacks one, the other can in turn attack Pink.
really don't understand what's going through Oda's head when he decides to make chapters like this paced normally and then does that bizarro 10-scene-switches-in-a-chapter shit and drags out the fight with Jora for like 7 chapters
chapter was alright, but I kept thinking of how nice it would have been for other aspects of this arc to get a more slow, focused treatment
THAT SPREAD. I'm not one to rate chapters, but this one was so full of colosseum participants goodness I can't help but give it a 10/10. And it had a FREAKING KING PUNCH ( albeit the light version, but yeah I've been fangasming about a Chinjao + Elizabello team attack the whole arc ), so it's more like 11/10. This is just what I was looking forward to, yeeees.
I knew Elizabello would scold Dagama :P , and please Oda don't let Kelly be an idiot ( or if he starts attacking the stars, let him just be called out for it and beaten so he joins Luffy's anti-Doffy army )

I love you and so does BasedGod
@Medical Orbit
I don't really think they're strong enough, they already have been exploded by Bellamy with ease, but now that they have "faith" in their God Usopp, a reason to live which make them strongers, who knows…
BTW don't you think Abdullah and Jeet are caricatured like arabians muslims in a cool/funny way? lol
Just an amazing chapter!! and the timing was impeccable as in the anime we've just had Luffy riding Ucy and taking down Hajrudin.
I think we all knew that the Colosseum fighters were an excuse to give the strawhats some backup against Doffy & co. What I didn't expect is for Doflaming to hid like a little bitch and for Pica to be up against them all alone…......
Still as far as I can tell, the whereabouts of the following fighers is still unknown?
Bellamy
Tank Lepanto
Kelly & Bobby Funk
Jean Ango
Mummy
Meadows
Agyo
Damask
Rolling Logan
Acilia
Also, what every happened to Gambia? Is he going to reunite with Bartolomeo? VA Maynard's conscious again, so Gambia should be by now?
every one but meadows lol
Rolling Logan, Jean Ango, Acilia, the lion, Mummy, and Damask also aren't there.
Edit: Also the Funk Brothers.
I could see some of those (namely Jean Ango and the Funk Brothers) going after the bounties.
BTW don't you think Abdullah and Jeet are caricatured like arabians muslims in a cool/funny way? lol
they are caricatures of wrestlers; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abdullah_the_Butcher and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiger_Jeet_Singh
Anyone else laugh at Luffy saying Law was going to be his nakama?
pretty fun chapter.

The chapter is "maybe" just a bit padded and "maybe" not much happens. . .
But, FUCK IT, THIS single spread makes the whole arc very well worth it.
And then. . .an Elizabello and Chinjao team up???
Thank you, Oda. Just. . .thank you.
I hope next chapters takes up exactly from here. This was so fucking sexy!
I feel you guys, I really do. Come here and give me an hug.
I love you and so does BasedGod
This must be that thing they call "fangasm", and it's wonderful.
I was surprised to see Abdullah and Jeet side with Luffy.
They seemed like the type that would have immediately sold him out for the bounty.
Good for them!
lol They were both crying, I think they felt that the debt to Usopp is too big to just forget it, but they still wanted the bounty thought, that's they were crying.
they are caricatures of wrestlers; http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Abdullah_the_Butcher and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tiger_Jeet_Singh
Oh yeah good inspiration from Oda, it's seems clearer now, i'm not a wrestling fan so i didn't know them
Oh yeah good inspiration from Oda, it's seems clearer now, i'm not a wrestling fan so i didn't know them
To be fair, a lot of fans who only watch western wrestling exclusively probably wouldn't know them either lol
Got to love Oda's tributes.
This chapter made me happy inside. I can't wait to see Cavendish's rape face in anime
What an excellent chapter!
I just loved the "Quit following me, you morons!" that Luffy ended with in the MS version. Also the "too much ego" comment by Zoro.
king punch ( hammer) + headbutt by chinjao that made my day
Straw hat luffy is the most powerful man on the island right now
He has the following allies/crew
Law
SH pirates (sans sanji/nami/chopper)
Sabo + revolutionaries
Kinemon/Kanjuro
Dressrosa armies and Kyros
Dressrosa royal family
Corrida Colosseum Contestants
Fuji and Doflamingo aren''t even clsoe
@Robzilla
I dunno if it's a coincidence, but if it isn't, Oda's goes far into his research, but that's needed if he want to introduce various characters relative to differents nationalies in the "real" world.
But i don't think that himself already knows them, before wikipedia. More an inspiration based on research than a tribute

Nah, it's clearly on purpose. I would guess they're almost as famous in Japan as some wrestlers like Hulk Hogan are over the States ( well, Hogan's a bad example because everyone knows him, but you get my point )
Even if not much happened (at least, from a given viewpoint) dang, those spreads… all those beautifully detailed stuff all over the whole chapter. Love ya Oda, week by week, you bring our sore eyes sweet ambrosia~
First, I always imagine Pica with a standard low voice, then I remember, and smile. Can't really decide what kind of high-pitched voice he has.

I imagine that Pica's voice is like the doberman's voice in UP.

Yeah likely, for example in europe there are plenty of singers/actors who are just considered as "normal" in terms of popularity (sometimes a bit has-been), but in Japan they're seen like hyper-superstars.
I wouldn't have minded seeing Damask and Mummy show up based solely on them having interesting designs, compared at least to someone like Sulaiman. I'm sorta surprised the Funk brothers didn't end up joining up, seeing as they seemed to have more development than some of the fighters from other blocks that showed up. With Ango it makes complete sense since he is a bounty hunter, so I guess we'll be seeing a few of the more developed colosseum contestants chasing after the alliance rather than fighting alongside them. And Tank makes a lot of sense not being there since I'm sure he returned to the army.
And of course there's the absence of Meadows. Let the speculation continue. :ninja:
