This is a safe place, it seems.
(Ha, core group, I don't think I'll ever be in that until I figure out what your sig actually means from that tournament, Dryish…)

Now I've got to wait until tomorrow to post again, otherwise I'll exceed my quota.
Damn! You're in a tight spot!
Lurker here. Lurked last year because I was in the last year of my junior college, lurking this year because I'm involved in my country's National Service.
Lurked (mostly) in the break in between because I was too busy watching Space Dandy and Kill La Kill and (catching up on) Hannibal.
Wow. 1240. That's a small number compared to some of you but still, wonder how many hours of typing I've spent on here.
On the mobile version of APforums (tapatalk) when viewing a users profile it gives the number of times someone has posted. I'm at 189…
(Thanks Epoida) :ninja:
So, apparently I have 5095 posts….WOW..Now I think I´m old.
I find it kind of funny that allot of you who consider your selves lurkers, are at least to me, instantly recognisable, (except this Robby guy, no idea where he's come from :P ) I guess that goes to show what you guys are posting is good stuff. I honestly can't be bothered to look up my post found at the moment, but I've always been curious how to do that, and will probably get around to it eventually.
Edit, so i gave in a did it, 527 (well now 528) so thats an average of about one and a half posts per week, well I've far exceeded that this week, in this thread alone.
773… Wow that's kinda many for me. :v I guess it's from spamming the forced listening thread.
Joined when I was a wee little boy in 2005, and I think there was an apforum before that, even? Not 100%, but I remember registering for it under a different name. Then I moved to this account.
I lurk a lot but don't post as much as I feel I probably could. I always feel I should post if I bring something new to the discussion, and often other members say it before I do.
That, and I posted something pretty offensive a few years back, and got flamed for it. In one way, I feel it was deserved, since I now know they were awful things, and cringe every time I'm reminded that I use to think that way. I no longer hold that offensive view anymore, but I still don't think I've "recovered" from the strong backlash from some of the members.
I just legitimately didn't know better, and yet some were telling me I was wrong in a harsh way, and I feel the harshness wasn't justified when they could've explained it to me more smoothly. So I guess that's also why I'm always hesitant to speak up on things in general.
Hope I didn't kill the mood. I plan on posting more and being more social, and I feel getting involved in the tournament will help since a lot of people seem to have fun with it.
I've been lurking here for a really long time. I don't usually post much because it feels like I don't have much to post about anyway.
But I really enjoy reading everything that goes on here, especially the threads in the General Section and Other Manga/Anime. I've learned so much from here.

This seems to be a common view point among lurkers, everyone has opinion and something add, even if its just a quick post about your view on a manga ect. Diversity makes conversation more interesting, I'm going to try and post her more often, since i realise I've been holing myself back for some reason.
Hello, I'm noob. I dislike introducing myself.
Joined this forum to participate in the Arlong Park character tournament. That was great fun, I even met a bunch of very interesting people.
I like to think of myself as generally laid-back. I like debating for the sake of debate, regardless, I avoid them like the fire myself. I like jokes. I like puns. I like witty retorts.
I'm not very social unless the situation requires me to be.
Lurkers unite!!!
@Lef:
When I made my account I never wrote an introduction thread, since I didn't find it necessary at the beginning.
Came for spoilers, stayed for tourney.
If it wasn't for the right to vote, I might have never posted, already at that point I made arrangements with another stowaway to work together so we would create campaigns with only that user posting them. But here I am. Writing posts.
Since I began, I felt this need to keep my posts posts clean of anything-, that might be considered annoying, personal, emotional (loathed the thought of being considered annoying). Added to that my daily struggle to find the right words, pretty much ensured my limited activity in tourney, and later in forum whole, and pretty much to this day as well.
Surprisingly, didn't prevent me from making new friends thanks to this place.
I'm pretty much the same. Started posting because of the Mafia thread and various other forum games with the usual crowd. Those also led to me campaigning for one or two characters each tournament (mostly Pagaya) and that's about it.
Okay, I posted. Am I eligible for a prize now? :D
I more or less consider myself a lurker. The only things I do consistently anymore is greet new members and post the music I'm listening to.

Are you sure you guys are lurkers? I'm not very active and I at least vaguely recognise you all from having … seen your posts a fair number of times before :p

I have only 262 posts and am not motivated enough to make myself a distinct avatar or signature so I'd say I fit the description at least.

I don't know that I think lurkers should feel obligated to participate in discussions. Yeah, sure, if you've just been feeling intimidated and actually have things you want to share then it's a shame. But for me, and maybe some of these other lurkers, it's just not all that important to me whether others know what I'm thinking about a certain subject or not. I'm pretty happy to sit back and listen for the most part.
EDIT: 1687 posts now in 7 years. More than I would have guessed but I suppose I was quite active back in 09.
Wow, apparently I've posted now 1667 times … so many! I thought I pretty rarely posted, so I dunno how that number got so big O.O
That's like once a day since I joined, on average. Huh.
No problem, it's a funny little very well documented secret. :P
You're officially in the AP core group from the minute you find out how to do that.
Is that a thing? I figured that one out a while ago. Don't feel any different really… :I
I'm far too tired to look up my number of posts, but I can safely say, 80% is moustaches~
I'm slowly becoming a lurker, I'm afraid. Although I try to write down anything I might deem insightful or worthy, so the quality (?) is there.

Oh, I in no way meant that lurkers should feel obligated to post, simply that if they want to post, they shouldn't feel intimidated.Since in the end its really no big deal, hell its just for fun.

You're considered a Lurker Shinpanman? One of the reasons i decided to stop lurking and post was your devianart! I love your art!
I remember when i was a lurker i only went to the art sub-forum to see all the one piece art! Man, i use to love e1n art! Well, i still do but he doesn't post since he fell into a volcano while fighting the vicious Narubots that tried to enslave the world with the plot no jutsu machine (ok, that didn't happen but it sounds really cool in my head)
I recognize the names of pretty much everybody in this thread. You all fail at lurking.
At the top of the site, check the Community drop-down below the Donate button. Choose Member List, find Search Members in the top right-hand corner, choose Advanced Search. Scroll down until you see the Post Count slot, give it an estimate, and scroll down. Make it sort the list in Descending Order, and according to Post Count. And start looking for your name, changing the numbers until you get there.
Ah, I found a easier way to do this; you didn't mention this. In advanced search, you just enter your name in "User Name", the first search box in the page. From there, it's easier to check your post count without swimming through the countless other posters if you've guessed your count incorrectly.
Anyway, this makes post count number 844 (or above now…) for me if I managed to search correctly. If true, I'm quite surprised I managed to post so much. My first guess was around 100. I don't really consider myself a lurker, I try to post when I feel I should, although sometimes I regret what I say. Is it better to post only when you really think you've got something good to say? Or is it okay to post however you feel like, even if it's already been said?

I see your name like every day too, so…

… Cluck you! We're doing our best, okay?
Lurkers are such posers these days.
Well, here's a thread with my name on it.
Managed to just beat out Mr. Zoro as oldest lurker to appear in this thread and I'm quite confident in my lack of posts.
Now if there were only a prize to go with all this soft work.
Edit: In the last 4 years I have posted a mere 112 times. Go me!

Want one? I can make an avatar if you want. -3-)/
Apparently my post count is at 3,710 (3,711, now), which is definitely on the low side when I compare it to my old account on Adult Swim's forums.
These days I only really post in the gaming sub-forum, and occasionally the other manga/anime and western animation sub-forums, while completely avoiding the One Piece-related threads, since it's really not doing it for me lately…
Oh, trust me. The manga section isn't for anyone.
I remember when lurking used to meant something in this forum but now everyone is sayin they lurk like it's a big deal. Come on people, get with the times. Rabid Multi-posting is the true underachiever nowadays sips mason jar
Maybe we just need to figure out what constitutes being active as opposed to lurking? Since no one seems to believe in lurking… :ninja:
The lurkers are the ones who are reading this thread, but not posting in it.
So we'll never know who they are.

That's kind of you to say and a reminder that I should remove that link from my sig because now it is full of super old art that I'm totally embarrassed of…
I don't really consider myself a lurker (whatever we've decided that means) but there's a huge discrepancy between the amount of time I spend on here reading and the number of posts I actually make.
I was a big fan of e1n's stuff as well. Whatever happened to him?
while completely avoiding the One Piece-related threads, since it's really not doing it for me lately…
Excuse me, would you mind horribly hopping onto this scale for a moment? I'd like to see whether you might perhaps weigh more than a duck.

Buu, but your art is awesome :(
I'm going more and more into lurking again.
It's getting harder trying to tell my opinions on stuff now.

sometimes the discussion going on is just so intense that it's hard to jump in… I'm trying to be better thoughh

Don't be afraid to give your opinion!
Don't be afraid to say something!

But seriously…
Is it better to post only when you really think you've got something good to say? Or is it okay to post however you feel like, even if it's already been said?
It's better to post when you feel like you have something good to say but I've seen enough fodder talk to say it's not the only time people post. Honestly, you can literally have a multipage conversation about jeans and as long as others find it interesting you can have your own thread, but please don't make a thread about jeans…
(though it would probably branch off into a general clothing and fashion discussion)
This thread made me wonder how many post I have…with this one, I'm now at 553 posts...I thought I had less than 100 posts @_@. Well it's still not a lot, especially when compared to some people here and since I've registered in this forum in 2006.
About why I don't post often, I'd say because, I 'm not a great poster to begin with, and I only read some thread here and there so...
Don't be afraid to give your opinion!

I really don't understand the whole figuring out your post count thing. I'm just gonna say I'm way less than 1000 and call it a day.
I've not been posting much these past few months actually. Not that I imagine that counts as lurking exactly.
I can lurk in real life though. Have this odd ability to move without being noticed and then people jump when they realise I'm next to them, and I just assumed they saw me coming.

Hey, I've missed you ever since I lost the time to play Pokemon. Come post, in other threads.
sets out traps
I honestly just tend to read the threads in the General Discussion (and occasionally the Media/Other Anime & Manga) sections of the forums, because I completely dropped off with reading One Piece a year and a half ago and never really felt like catching up. There are honestly a lot of really smart people posting in really interesting topics in this section (like I was basically using the Revolutions thread as my main news source on the Arab Spring for a while), but I usually take such a long time to write my posts (perfectionism, wanting to sound intelligent) that I end up not posting anything most of the time.
I really don't understand the whole figuring out your post count thing. I'm just gonna say I'm way less than 1000 and call it a day.
Nope. 1147
Apparently I've made… 295?
That's a lot less than I was expecting.
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
Oh- and my search brought up this as well.
Whelp, this happens to be my 381st post which, since I joined seven months ago, puts me at the rate of 1.81 posts per day. I figured this would happen as I usually try to get at least one post in a day, in addition to any time a topic I've been interested has heated up or I've entered a debate which greatly boosts my post rate.
In terms of recognizing members though It's basically only by avatar/sig, or if you're a mod/have stars by your name. That's why I hate it when people change avatars and whatnot because then I feel like I have no idea who you are anymore, save cases with memorable names/personalities.
Can we talk about the real issue though? As I post, there are 65 members online but 315 guests… alas, these guests are the real lurkers! It's like we're a group of friends who decide to hang out and have a One Piece party, and then there are just 315 random people watching us and eavesdropping from across the street. :ninja:
apparently I'm one of the 23 users to have over 10000 posts.
….....what.
I'm not so bothered about my own because I don't see it mattering so much as the effect of what I post.
Basically, I'm post-postcount.
