Maybe the spin-off could star a new main character and just have Oga as one of the important side characters?
Beelzebub

So… we didn't get to see the King's face... even though it was promised...
yea!! tamura-sensei, you lied to me!!! T_T

So now that it's over would you guys recommend it's good enough to devote reading the whole thing? Or is it just another average series with wasted potential?

You'll be dissapointed after 100 chapters.

I'd say it's deffinitely good enough to read even though not all parts have the same quality. Just lower your expectations and enjoy the ride.

Its worth a read. Whenever the series gets bogged down in a too-serious fighting quagmire, just skip to the next arc, and odds are it'll pick up again.
Gag Beelzebub is very endearing.
Battle Manga Beelzebub is dreadful. -
Not dreadful, just generic and boring.
-
I miss Deliberation guy.
-
Read it without any expectations and I'm sure you'll enjoy it. I'll remember all the good things about this manga and forget about the bad stuff. Best arc for me? Hmm. I totally enjoyed the video game arc. Great stuff IMO.

I burst out laughing when one of them was spinning in place. Had a mouse that did it to me all the time.
-
I love how it ended with a gag.:D Maybe we get to see the demon king's face in the spinoff?

If you're reading for an epic story like Rurouni Kenshin or something you're going to be disappointed. If you're reading it as a gag manga as you should, you're going to love it.

It's worth the read. The last arc is pretty bipolar, but overall it was a good series – not the best, but by far not the worst.
-
Well, Beelzebub it was a fun ride, I enjoyed your manga after your anime got screwed over and cancelled, you were genuinely hilarious and I didn't even mind your battle scenes.
At least your ending was 1000s X better than Hitman Reborn's -
Yeeeahh, the trials, the volleyball arc and the video game arc were the shit back then.

I also liked how Oga couldn't deal with a dere-Hilda and "run away like a bitch" when Hilda was too cute for him to compensate his badassery in her presence. XDDD
-
for people who want something in this genre. I recomand kyou kara ore was. I say its as funny as beelzebub and the fighting is better done IMO.

Well , Beelzebub HAS indead ..
-
i think it was mentioned when it ended but then forgot about quickly
-
Well since the scan team says isnt just the oneshot we can trust right?
Also the chapter is out in chinese
-
The spinoff was anounced as a serie from the start
-
I wish this manga could've lasted longer.
-
I haven't read it yet, but it starts with some breast grabbing. So, I guess it'll be good.
Ed: Done. It was fucking hilarious, loved every single bit of it.
-
Here's to hope the granny gonna get involved with Oga's and Hilda's "love life" to be better "parent guardians in the human world for her beloved grandchild". I could see her do that as long as she gets an interest in doing it.^^;
-
That was a hilarious chapter! Small and ripped Furuichi looked awesome
Damn I missed this manga.
-
I lost it at suddenly adult Kouta. It was so random.
I think this single chapter is honestly much better than the entire last arc of the series.
-
same here, kouta just killed this time
"WHAT COLOR IS YOUR BLOOD BEEL" - completely lost it -
That was fabulous, Beelzebub at its best.
-
It feels like this is what this series is most suited for. It was a great chapter to read.
and holy crap! 17 nonexistent pages on this thread?? For a Beel thread this somehow makes sense -
So nice to read it again. But I feel there's not much material in Beel's kindergarden adventures only.
-
Well i didn't find it that hilarious but it was still nice to have some bonus chapters.
still i woudprefer if Murata started a new serie he is a good author so he has to get rid of beelzebub soon. I don't want to be another GTO -
i cant believe it. the manga ends just like that.
i hope they continue :D
-
yeah i just finished beelzebub too. the ending was terrible – everything from america on. it was clearly rushed. i wonder if it was executive pressure to end or if he just got bored. i really hope it's the former.

I think it is both.

too bad they rush the story.. everything fck up!

So here is a link toward the interview given by Tamura at French Japan Expo this afternoon. I'm sorry it's in French and Japanese and I'm a bit exhausted (and lazy) to try translate it now. The quality is acceptable considering it's made with my phone without microphone. It lasts ~1h, first the interview by the journalist then public questions (half/half).
http://www.4shared.com/mp3/VpQsnllQce/Tamura-JapanExpo2014.htmlNo big news really. In trivia things, he said he was close friend with the author of Souma. His favourite serie in Jump at the moment beside Souma his Hunter x Hunter. He thinks of making a spinoff of Beelzebub but would prefer to do something different in a first time.
-
Another side story is here: http://www.batoto.net/read/_/262529/beelzebub-side-story_ch2_by_red-hawk-scans/1
-
^ Thanks! I was just thinking when will the next side story be out.
-
I read it earlier this morning, and it was definitely better than the first side-story. Hopefully the following chapter is also good…
-
Hilda in a swimsuit - about goddamn time, I say! 8D
And Furuichi using Jabberwock to deal with Alain, that was pretty funny. XD
And then Beel posed in his swimsuit. XDDDThis side story is much better than the first one. Looks like some sort of demon island they landed on. The whole gang in swimsuits on a demon infested island - could be very good. :D
-
C'mon, the first side story was hilarious. Much better than the entire last year of Beelze's serialization.
Now, I wasn't expecting a "to be continued" kind of side chapter, so I'm interested in this. Of course, the main catch is the fact we get to see all these cool guys once again, but it is indeed funny.
First one was funnier, though.
-
Damn, these side stories are a lot better than the last arc.
-
A fun adventure that even Jaberwock got cameo role.
lol at Oga signing a contract to be paid $15 per hour. -
Nothing is better than random beelzebub updates after the series is "over". This new arc could be amazing, i love how they brought everyone together again hahaha $15 an hour
-
waiting for the new chap of the side story
-
Chapter 3 is out.
This side story is brilliant. Why couldn't Beelzebub be half as funny in its last arc when in was still running in the magazine as it is now? Maybe then it wouldn't have to end on such a disappointing note. Imagine the things we could have had.
Hopefully this will be a valuable lesson to Tamura and he will never again prioritise fights over humour.
Never again.
-
We Life of Pi, now?
I can dig it.
-
bumping up the thread because
side story 4 is out!
p/s tamura-sensei did not forget about athrun! XD

Daaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawww~ <3
But why does Lamina grow up and Baby Beel doesn`t…
Oh well, whatever. Athrun is such a shame, ever since he had appeared I wanted to see him and his bosses again because I hoped that would mean that Oga, Hilda, Beel and Furuichi would return to the demon world, but this time in the citieis and castles of it and not the wild world. I had wanted to see Hilda's parents, to see how Oga badmouths Satan for being a shitty dad and that he will take care of beel now and how Furuichi gets used by demons again and again.^^
But that never happened....... ;_;The demon world with its seven sins and several surpressed kingdoms under one leder called Satan would have made such a great change to widen the world as well as to deepen the "family" feeling of Oga, Beel and Hilda. Instead we got some weird organisation and Beel's mom (honestly? it really would have been better if she had been dead. It would have caused more conflict for Hilda who knew that Beel has no mother while at the same time feels like a thief to a dear friend though said friend had asked her to take care of her baby and such, meaning tons of character development for Hilda from a "servant" to a "mother" (ofc with some Oga help at that) but noooooooooooooo~) and Oga saying "yo, I said I would bitchslap your parents for dumping you on me, but you know what Beel? Fuck that, I going home, cya, have fun with mommy and daddy~". ARGH!!!!!!
Maaaaaaan!
Seeing this side-chapter is very nice but it just shows how much story we were missing and how big Beelzebub could have become with proper story-telling/planning. :c
