@Aldrich:
That's just an opinion, not a fact. I personnaly couldn't care less about Jyabura or the way he's defeated. Besides, Kabuto isn't the only offensive weapon Usopp has, he can use dials too. And dials have the potential to make his tricks way more deadly.
I'm not saying he doesn't have other weapons, but if he's going to defeat his ultimate opponent this arc using something besides Kabuto, why bother to have him introduce Kabuto at all?
@Aldrich:
But they wouldn't necessary have to stay in that room. It's not like Oda didn't change the locations of a couple of other Strawhats fights, Usopp could have ran away with Jyab following him until they arrived in a place more suited to the sniper's skills.
This is partially true. They wouldn't have to stay in that room, but because of the Waterfall of Death on one side of the Tower, and the Gate of Justice on the other (with a series of tight corridors connecting, and noone besides Gonbe knowing the way), its really pretty much impossible for Usopp to find a place where he can comfortably fight the way he likes anywhere at the moment.
Even if he did find Gonbe to show him the way to the Gate of Justice so he could fight a running battle down those corridors, he'd basically be putting her in danger. Is that really the Usopp we know? Endangering a little kid?
Not to mention he'd hit a dead end when he ran into the Luffy/Lucchi fight and be faced with the same problem again anyways.
@Aldrich:
I don't understand why people always talk about that fight with Luffy and that sentence about Usopp knowing him and thus having an advantage.
Because Usopp himself admitted it was true. Its a bit hard to dispute something that clear.
@Aldrich:
What trick did he use during this fight that wouldn't have worked against any other opponent?
Please, you're completely dismissing the question of time. Usopp set up several time depedant traps and prepared several attacks prior to the fight against Luffy that he knew would be effective against him. Something he just wouldn't have time to do here.
Not to mention he doesn't know anything about how the CP9 attack, the combo's they use (he knew Luffy's usual Pistol etc. attacks, and anticipated them), or anything like that.
And while its true we don't see him use anything that wouldn't have worked on a majority of other opponent, what about all the stuff he could have used but didn't since it would have been worthless against Luffy? Yea, we can't see these, thats the point.
@Aldrich:
It's meaningless to talk about it now though, coulda, shoulda, woulda, but I don't agree about the "Usopp can't beat Jyabura" stuff.
Either do I, thats kind of my point. I just don't think he could under the current circumstances. Change them up and I think he could though.
@Aldrich:
As I said, it's One Piece, where people turn into semi solid smoke, heal perforated stomachs by eating meat and such other nonsense. Trying to apply logics to it seems meaningless to me.
Logic isn't useless, common sense as we know it is. But precedent, and arguments that logically follow it aren't.
@anothrnobdy:
If these circumstances were different, and they could be rewritten in a believable way, Ussop winning over Jabs would have been acceptable. That's all I'm saying. Now of course it cannot be true, but it could have worked.
That…was exactly my point :blink:
