I’m not going to guess the details of how it happened because I'm not as imaginative as Oda.
What I want to point out is why Law would need Doflamingo alive. That reason would be to bait out Kaido, just like he used Caesar to bait out Doflamingo. Remember that Law and Luffy’s alliance is to take down a Kaido. Doflamingo is needed to get face time with Kaido. I don’t want to say that Kryos can defeat Doflamingo or that Doflamingo needed saving but I think Law needed an opening to continue the plan and Kryos provided that opening.
Also with the Toys turned back maybe one of them will be the old suit of Hearts.

If Law has been a medicine mastermind since his childhood and if he, by chance or force, was able to obtain his fruit powers since childhood there is a chance,slim one but still, that he took Mingos innards away from him as a whole and let them functional in a place called "the core"(at least thats what sabo is looking I´m guessing). Ok, I´ll confer that given his age this theory doesn´t hold much ground. Yet, it doesn´t rule out that the person who seems to be his mentor Cora-san had business in these regards.
It would simply fit explendid if the former heart seat was a medicine expert who took in Torao. Cora-san might have been the person in charge of Dofla´s inner safekeep until an incident happened. I base this mainly on the relationship between Corazon-heart and core. As the story progresses, strange vibes are reaching my senses.First off, Doflamingo wasn´t frozen "to the core" by Aokiji. (Buffallo said this himself) Implying that his heart was functional, which really doesn´t make much sense unless its being held elsewhere. After typing the last sentence,I must confess I´m sensing a nagato-ish storytelling from all this development; reason being that Vergo points out Laws obliviousness towards doffy's past.
Law didn´t know Doflas true story, which leaves me under the impression that the former seat of hearts will play a huge role in Doflamingos flashback.His-her Absense and Doflas resilence to death are keyed and intertwined. Moreover Why haven´t we seen Moi cheri and Kanjuro, its obviously starting to get vexing inside the port area so I expect there appearance soon enough.
All in all, I´m a supporter of the theory that all of Doflas vital organs are held somewhere else, that includes his brain, heart, lungs and what not making him tough as hell to fight against..

I always thought Law's priority was to take down Dofla, but that it doesn't mean he wants to get Kaido too. Eventually. What would he do if he killed Dofla and survived? Retire?

Not that I think last week's fiasco with Usopp's gag knocking out Sugar is Oda's usual impressive writing, but at least the story is moving forward and a lot of good shit happened in this chapter.
King of Lightning, an anime/manga reviewer on Youtube, pointed out the fact that Pica disappeared, so that could potentially have something to do with what we're seeing as Doffy's supposed "defeat".

You know, as much as I like Doflamingo, I have to admit he's not as intelligent as he makes himself appear. I mean hell, his ploy at the start of the arc where he faked stepping down as warlord was genius, but the fact that literally all his years of worked were resting on one girl isn't the brightest strategy.

My thoughts on the whole dofla's head scene:
1: ( everyone's guess so far ) something to do with law.
2: dofla is somehow a logia user ( even though he was clearly stated as a paramecia user so that cant really be it )
3: Something to do with a power of maybe cp0 or another member of doffy ( an illusion fruit ? )
4: Pika, zoro did mention how pika dissapeared and it was mentioned he could control the whole palace so who knows he could make a stone clone of doffy or something else?

They were even when Ace didn't have the fruit, Ace actually edged him a bit. I would say he is probably as strong as Ace was before his death, which is pretty damn powerful. Add the fruit, and you have someone on Admiral level.

Chapter was crazy. this arc is fantastic, Sabo might actually still be the stronger brother with that epic dragon wave.
Law's plan must include Luffy specifically beating Doflamingo for whatever reason which could be why he saved him from his head being cut off.

That's also why Robin hasn't gotten a fight (Skypeia doesn't count for obvious reasons) - her initial bounty was ONLY her threat to the government but the lie the government set was also about her strength of taking down battleships. Her 1mil bounty increase was to update her photo. After her next big fight, her improved strength will factor in and finally increase her bounty by a lot, but I also wouldn't be surprised if they chose not to, much.
I just think if we're talking about Ace vs Sabo pre-timeskip on the subject of power I'd have to put them even but when Ace's fruit is factored in it'd have to be Ace. Now that 2 years have passed it's hard to gauge but I'd say he'd probably be stronger than pre-timeskip Ace minus the fire ability. I think he'd probably be as strong as Ace would be if Ace survived after the 2 years just with no ability (that we know of). I hope we all agree he's stronger than Luffy?
DoFlamingo is the main antagonist in this arc and will not die that easily.
For some reasons, One would be Law already set up a room on that place, maybe the whole palace rather. Two, Doffy's string ability could have some re-attaching powers. Lastly, he's still alive for godsake!

That's what I was thinking so I wanted someone to expand on that. Pica being responsible somehow for "saving" Doffy makes sense since he's gone but not if the explanation is "Pica is now a ninja and made a stone Doffy clone that can move and talk by itself"

Good observation/guess but if you recall though, Perona also passed out from shock and fear, while she had tears and foaming at the mouth, she didn't make a sound. Maybe she really did fear his face or maybe Sugar was just surprised at first so she screamed and then triggered shock.. or maybe.. it was a mixture of both.. I think I got something here… his battle with Perona, he took advantage of her fear of bugs AND then he proceeded to using his Usopp Golden Pound to trigger shock.. Oh my.. I think Usopp found the way/mixture to mimic the release of Haki, namely CoC.
To quote C.A. a little bit on the definition of Haki: "The words Ha and Ki, meaning 'dominate' and 'air'. Together you can make out something like 'air of dominance/atmosphere of fear' or better phrased, 'Aura of dominance/supremacy' or 'Aura of fear/terror'."
