That thought crossed my mind too but It's very in his character that in THAT point in his life, he was pretty much a beast, beasts don't think of ways to negotiate… especially when his family/father-in-law (/friend etc) was threatened. Also while it is ironic, he did not know what Sugar's power was nor did he plan so far ahead that Scarlett would look for food for Rebecca, I'm not sure where you were going with that.
I mentioned in one of the first posts regarding this discussion that I'm not looking this from an angle of Kyros' personality but from the Oda's angle. It's not well thought of, as far as I'm concerned. If it's all in place and makes sense, my mind won't find so many questions to think of. Don't have much else to say.
They HAD to cuff him, they know his reputation or he's a beast. Choose your reason.
He was sweating when he said to remove them, meaning he knows he's screwed, sea-stone handcuffs cannot be cut and the only possible way to get out of that was to say "I'm not even a Devil Fruit User!", much good that did. It also served it's purpose to show the readers that he had no other choice.
I would still have liked to see what exactly happened. Well, even though I'm probably incorrect, considering all of my predictions regarding Kyros, other than the obvious one that he was the toy soldier, have proven false, I predict that it will be revealed that Doffy was curb stomped by Kyros in a battle years ago. What other reason would Kyros actually believe he could defeat Doflamingo if he hadn't beat him before (maybe its ust because he hadn't lost before, so he's cocky). But that's just my two cents on the subject.
Could have cut off his foot only and slip through the chains. Or middle of the shin at least.
Having a knee makes things a lot easier. Just look at Zeff.

I will never change someone's opinion whether they like something or not but when people say "ass pull","plot hole" or question Oda's writing, I'm providing reasons why sht makes sense, which they do (maybe just for me anyways). One of many reasons why I like OP is because sht makes sense/mostly everything is explained but a lot of them you have to piece together yourself like a puzzle.

Nah, doesn't work that way. She knows Rebecca is her daughter, but she can't remember the father or anything about him and she can't help it in any way.

Pretty sure that I wouldn't have been able to act completely logically in that situation, and I'm probably much more used to that kind of mindset than someone like Kyros is.

I think the next chapter should resolve most of these mysteries. The reason Oda revealed Kyros this chapter was probably so that he could tell his story in the imminent Diamante/Scarlet flashback. Also, how cool would it be if Kyros cut his own leg off, maybe because he was tied up / being controlled by Doflamingo?

This arc had me scratching my head 4 times already. With Rebecca's plan to get mera mera and try to kill Dofla, with king Riku simply going along with Dofla's ransom, with Kyros' capture and "release" and finally with Usopp knocking out Sugar with agonized face.
There are arguments for each of those events and I can number most of them myself, but it doesn't mean some problems aren't there.
I don't think his remark was directed to Kyros the character as much as to Oda. Oda created a situation in which Kyros had to act quickly before the king was killed.
I have more than one problem with that. First, he was offered to join Dofla. He might have done it in exchange for Riku's life. Just like Violet has done. Second, as was said, he could have cut the lower part of his leg.
Third, don't think he expected to survive with that kind of wound and against overwhelming enemy force. At best, he could have maybe killed Dofla and prolong king's life for unknown amount of time. Couldn't have known what would happen in next couple of minutes.
Fourth, he put king's life in front of the lives of his wife and daughter. He jumped into action without knowing if he'll survive or not.Stupid, stupid, stupid. And please, no comments about how this is Shounen, Oda didn't think about it that deep, blah blah. I know what I'm reading.
Doflamingo was about to kill both his family and king. Not only was he in a hurry but he wasn't given anytime since both assassination were happening right before him. In such moment he could hardly loose time in negociation. And he is the captain of the guards and a undefeated gladiator who owns everything to Riku and ready to sacrifice everything for his family. He isn't going to give without a fight.
He just need to take care of the leg after taking care of the intruders. I think Whitebeard and Zoro proves such injuries aren't mortal in the middle of a fight.
It's pretty hard to cut cleanly as low as the leg when you are in a hurry.

I guess after saving Riku and killing all of his crew there while massively bleeding from his leg, he would hop toward the flower field on that one leg while steel bleeding (if there was any blood left after all that fighting) and fight once more to protect his family. Ok, maybe Riku would help him. But truth is, Sugar saved his life when she turned him into a toy. Kyros resorted to save the king and die with that move. And I can't digest it easilly without at least seeing some obvious flaws in that situation.
I'm surprised you're able to talk like that just because someone is critical towards something. So much as calling an opinion bad? Can't remember you acting like that in a long time. A bit shocking tbh.

It all stands, more or less, but it's kinda silly that Kyros didn't even try to negotiate. Especially when you remember Violet became a Dofla pirate to save her father's life. So it turns out that Kyros' may have ultimately for nothing and to make it worse, him being turned into a toy is what caused Scarlett's death indirectly. I can appreciate the tragic irony in that, but that's about it.

Viola had something to bargain with, the mightiest scout/truth serum ability imaginable. Kyros had his reputation as a strong fighter, but was disposible with Vergo being a very strong haki user already. As we can see from the Donquixote family, Doflamingo had amassed a group consisting of DF users only. What do imagine he could have negotiated with aside from his pure fighting skills? Oda is at fault for letting him act in character?
Rebecca is still a child, one desperately trying to save her "father" from sacrificing himself. She had no way other choice as she is one of the gladiator slaves.
Riku might have thought that Doflamingo would act like many other pirates and have a sole aim for money/gold.
Sugar was build up to hate ugly things.
They are only problems if you wants them to be so. :P
