I just noticed it now, but Calipha has not used her Thorn Whip in the entire fight. Pretty weird, in my opinion, that Oda chose to not use her signature weapon in her fight.
Hey, she had some new toys to play with, can you blame her for throwing the old ones away?
I do think seeing her do shigan with whips etc. as well as using her soap powers would have made Nami's fight far more exciting, but it would also have drawn it out a lot longer as well. As is, both Nami and Calipha only threw a few attacks total, and the characters are supposed to be in a hurry etc. which is probably why it was left out.
@Duce:
As for Spandam he need's to say weak, the last thing we need is that Fukurou was interrupted before he could finish saying Spandam's douriki and instead of 9 it is actualy 9000 that would suck big time.
It was Calipha who said he had 9 Douriki wasn't it?
Besides, his comedic reaction to her revelation wouldn't happen unless it really was minor.
To be honest though, Douriki only seems to be a pointless measure of nothing but physical strength i.e. how many tonnes of pressure per square inch a person can put out with a single attack or something similiar.
After all, observe the way Fukorou measured it, by having each character kick him once. That simple one attack can in no way measure fighting style, devil fruit power etc. etc.
It was probably just put in by Oda to throw off peoples measuring up of potential pairings in the fighting, and to use another Shonen cliche in a some what humorous and silly fashion.
And if this were to be true, it wouldn't make Spandam weak (at least, not on its own). Neither Nami or Usopp are physically strong, but look at what they can do in a fight. With a weapon its not really a case of strenght, its a case of technique. Though as Zoro proves, strenght to is beneficial.
