Received my set in the mail earlier today, I really want to watch it all at once but not enough time for today. The cover and spine are awesome. Huh, I just noticed we don't see Blackbeard's powers over Ace illustrated on the spine.

My set just shipped I should have it by Friday. Has there been any news on the dubbed voices for TB or will we just have to wait for the box set release

Which voices do you want to know about?

Mainly gecko moria and kuma but there's gonna be perona absolam and hogback too so any of them really
-
Meh. The voice cast doesn't tell you too much. It's the trailer I'm looking forward to. Hope they include someone else's voice in that.
Shouldn't season six be up on rightstuf for preorder by now? They've finally charged my card, so I expect to get this set Saturday or Friday.

Was just going to mention that, looks like it's been delayed: http://www.rightstuf.com/rssite/main/news/individual/?ForumThreadName=FT0000006454&ReturnTo=Main
Can't say I mind, I wasn't expecting it to show up till the fall anyways.

Maybe it just hasn't gone up yet?
-
Includes, they said, so may not be limited to.
-
Funimation has added late solicitations plenty of times, so I wouldn't be too worried yet.
-
I know I should just be patient for when the episodes are actually shipped, but would anyone happen to have a small clip of the Blackbeard and Burgess laughs? At this point that's what I'm looking forward to the most.
-
Got the set today and just finished it as well. Even though 95% of the set was filler, it was a pretty good one. FUNimation really outdone themselves on the dub again. I am happy that FUNimation seems to be keeping the trademark laughs now that they didn't have back in the early days of dubbing. The preview for episode 337 was really good as well and I am surprised that Brook had a line in the preview (Didn't expect that)

I know its been 3 months for all you APers in the States but Strong World just came out here in Australia and I just picked up the release!
Same cover as the US except for some minor tweaks with the madman logo. The Blu Ray cover (the actual blue cover) is really flimsy and it feels like its gonna crack if you apply any pressure on it. I'm not a fan of this recent change by Madman as the discs always feel out of place and could fall out of their holders.
Now this was a big surprise. The inside of the cover had this iconic poster instead of plain white and I really dig having that as a part of the release.
This release just screams minimalism. Its nice and all but the disc art is just okay.
Here's some extras that accompanied the release. I like how Madman is bundling the iconic movies of certain series with the first volume of the manga for about the same cost that the manga is alone under their 'Yokoso Anime' brand. Great way to sell to potential buyers and I was surprised to see these in store.

A step up from our disc art, which was just white.

Does anyone think we will get another annoucement about one piece later this year about season 7 and film z?
-
I can see an announcement coming much later in 2014 but not right now. Like, maybe in October or something when Season 6 is starting to wrap up.
-
When it comes to the DVDs, I mostly just wait for the Collections. Sure, it means I'm not able to own the latest episodes asap, but it does mean I get more episodes per set, and cheaper too. Now that Collection 9 has been announced, the continuation of collections is confirmed, so I feel like I can keep up with this strategy.
Now, if only Funimation would start releasing some more of the movies…like say, Dead End Adventure, or Baron Omatsuri and the Secret Island...
-
I'm noticing the demand for the movies increasing. Let funimation know on their Facebook or email. I'd love to see move of the films brought over. Strong World was phenomenal.
-
Funimation has an email? Well that's useful knowledge. Just hope no-one uses it to spam them with stupid complaints or troll them about decisions they've made…but knowing the internet that's probably already happened.
-
Another good way to let Funimation know you want the movies is to write it on one of those fill-me-out cards that comes with every voyage/collection. By sending that in, it backs up the requests by showing that you are financially supporting the series as well.
-
You guys should listen to the Episode 335 Commentary track. They got very…creative... with that one.

I'm sure they've gotten plenty of hate mail for things like voice actors and translations haha
-
Yea, I was a little surprised that Season 6 was announced without a movie of some kind, seeing the popularity of Strong World, but they're probably still in negotiations with Toei, like when they got the digital rights.
-
Did they actually get the digital rights yet? I know it was mentioned that they were shooting for that deal on the One Piece Podcast but it wasn't announced along with Season 6 so I feel like they're still trying to sort those out.
-
You may be right, I'm not sure, I was just referencing it. I do hope they get it so we can get One Piece episodes on iTunes and Netflix, hopefully drawing in more viewers.

I believe the episodes are available in HD now on FUNimation.com if you have a elite membership so maybe they do now?
-
Also, the episodes are available on Hulu…why couldn't they be available on Netflix and iTunes in that case?
-

Yeah. I definitely was anticipating a movie announcement with each season. I don't think they'll ever get back to movies 1-5.
-
I would be fine if they took time off from dubbing episodes if they only worked on movies when they got them
-
Yeah. I definitely was anticipating a movie announcement with each season. I don't think they'll ever get back to movies 1-5.
Well I agree that Movies 1-3's chances of getting a release are the worst (possibly Movie 11 as well), I think that Movie 4 was well received, even if Gasparde is too much like Crocodile for my tastes, and Movie 5 isn't terrible, so I think they at least have a shot.
-
In regards to the movies, I'm still hoping for Funimation to pull the double-feature for them. So we'd get Movies 1&2, 3&4, 5&6, 7&9, and 11&12 (w/ 11 being more of a special feature to Film Z). If anything, this pairs the weak movies w/ good ones so there isn't a risk of any of the movies, individually, failing in terms of sales. I'm still kinda hoping that we could get a re-release of Movie 8 w/ the extra prologue (Whiskey Peak reanimated was pretty nice imo)…or hell, include that prologue as a special feature w/ Movies 7&9 (since the prologue was for Movie 8 and it would kinda "fit" inbetween 7 & 9). But I'd be willing to triple dip for Movie 8 if we got the new footage regardless. XD
-
Also, the episodes are available on Hulu…why couldn't they be available on Netflix and iTunes in that case?
Even if they got the digital rights, they mentioned on the Podcast that Netflix would be a completely different situation as far as licensing is concerned.
-
It's really strange that the One Piece movies suffer from what the Star Trek movies suffer from, which is the odds are (usually) the worse movies, while the evens are good. Maybe that's why Toei didn't release movie 13 in 2013.
-

I love 4 and 2, but Funi probably won't go back and get pre-widescreen releases.
-
Weren't all of the movies originally made for widescreen? Is that an issue for Funimation? (I don't know much on this stuff).

they were i have Japanese blurays of them there in widescreen.
-
Hmm, if they were to release any of the One Piece movies, I'd like to see 2, 4, 5, 6, 7, 9, and 12. However, it would be better if we could get them all, just as an option. It would truly be wonderful to have a legal option to watch these movies. Sure, I have K-F copies of most of them on my laptop right now, but it would be so much better to have a physical, legal, dubbed and subbed copy of them. Please Funimation, you did all the Dragon Ball and Dragon Ball Z movies, can't you do the same with One Piece? (I myself, for the record, have never actually watched DBZ, I never really plan to either ^_^)
The double feature idea that Demonkick suggested sounds pretty good too.
-

Oh? Intriguing.
How was the Luci Christian interview? -
Other than movies 1-3/11, which were less then an hour long, I don't see FUNimation releasing the feature length films as double features on their first release. I just doesn't seem like a cost effective way for them to release the films, and I get the impression that One Piece is popular enough for the films to do well enough individually. Even the DBZ double features had been released individually first, and they were mostly only about an hour long.
-
When is S6V1 comes out? Funi posted their scheduled releases for may and One Piece is not there.
-
Dialing it back just a quick second, did anyone else take note of Jozu directly mentioning Haki in Episode 316? I remember that not being referenced to in the original fansubs back in 2007. Seems like a nice touch the Funimation script writer(s) threw in.
-
There was a big discussion about that a while ago :P It's because the fansubbers didn't know what Haki was back then, it hadn't been revealed in the manga yet, so it was just put down as probably…strength, or something.
-
Well that is a nice little touch, of course it'll take me a while to get to Funi's dub in that part of the series, since I only buy the collections. With Collection 9 coming in April, hopefully 10 and maybe 11 are also released this year. The whole Water 7 Saga in the collection format would be very nice indeed.
-
My set just came in the mail I don't work tomorrow so I may marathon it tonight
-
I watched the first three episodes. All of the old voices have returned for the Blackbeard Pirates, and Teach and Burgess' laughs are kept. Barry Yandell's Auger isn't as deep as it used to be.
Here's a partial list of voices on this set:
Ace - Travis Willingham
Auger - Barry Yandell
Doc Q - Kenny Green
Burgess - Phil Parsons
Teach - Cole Brown
(Laffite isn't credited by name, but he's still Christopher Bevins)Don Accino - Ray Gestaut
Campacino - Chris Rager
Salchow - Kyle Jones
Puzzle - David Matranga
Jiro - Leah Clark (instead of Coby)
Stansen - Brett Weaver
Brindo - Chris Rager
Arbell - Carli Mosier
Lil - Kara Edwards
Troff - Tyler Walker
Race - Sean Michael Teague
Lago - Cris George
Sutton - Jarrod Greene
Guyle (spelled 'Guile' in the second episode, lol) - Elias Taylorson
Hockera - Z. Charles Bolton
Basil - Gregory LushSide note: They're back to using "Paramythia", in both the dub and the subtitles.
-
I recorded some short clips of what everybody wants to see. (Raise your volume to hear it better.)

thanks a lot dude and the zehahaha got better each time he said at and the clash between ace and Blackbeard was epic great job by cole and travis
-
That's so awesome, thank you. Phil Parsons in particular absolutely nails Burgess's laugh.
It's also great to start hearing sinister Blackbeard in English. Cole Brown is still perfect for the role.
-
Funimation really does a bang-up job with this dub don't they? I still mostly watch it all subbed, but I occasionally listen to dub as well.
-
From what I can tell, One piece is the dub they work the hardest on. Not that other productions aren't hard work, but they seem to go into minute details just trying to nail things down in casting, lines, etc.
-
My goodness, One Piece on Netflix would be such a boon for it's popularity! Just let them do it Toei, let them do it.
Nice to see those laughs in the dub, and I always did love Ace's English VA. I'll probably pick the set up in early March.
