Assassination Classroom: End Time

Asano the elder probably has my favourite human faces.
Also, this would be the first real blow dealt to him & his system, wouldn't it?There's also the fact that most of Class E took a lot of the top spots of the class, which is basically a big F U to his whole system of looking down on people. It wasn't until Takebayashi was added to Class A's roster that their confidence was brought back up.
But yeah Asano Gakuhou is a pretty convincing villain all things considered.
-
Somebody on another forum was wondering about it and it bugged me too when I read it: is the Chairman so obsessed with his 'experiment' that he has never considered the possibility of expelling a Class E student? I mean, after what Takebayashi's done here the Chairman didn't necessarily have a false dichotomy of keeping Takebayashi in Class A (obviously not) vs. keeping the guy in Class E (which was what the student wanted anyway). Is there something I'm missing here?
Is he that keen on keeping Class E students as humiliation fodder?
-
Yeah pretty much. Typical Neuro sorta villain where he's completely obsessed with his plan and order to the point of essentially insanity.
It also probably is that the system thus far is working pretty well, and you also see that Takebayashi's kinda nuts for breaking the Chairman's stuff right in front of everyone, which pisses him off, but probably at least reinforces the idea that "Class E is for all the crazy, inept kids!"
-
It's kinda interesting really, how the Chairman is utterly brilliant (or maybe just insane) at trying to enforce his ideals that are otherwise unbelievably idiotic. To use TVTropes terms, it's like he's managed to be both a Magnificent Bastard and yet still hold Honor Before Reason.
I don't think you're giving Takebayashi enough credit here though; he is the guy who showed marked improvement so his act is less of "I'm mentally unstable enough to do this" and more "Fuck the system, you're just a bunch of unthinking cowards"
-
Systemic discrimination doesn't break down so easily. Asano's probably trying to mitigate damage by continuing to act like Class E is a punishment.
I figure Asano's deal is that he really believes in his system. If he did anything drastic like expelling Takebayashi, it would be admitting to the failings of his system.
-
Right, the whole idea is that Class E is the lowest of the low. Even expelling might even be better if the insinuation is that Class E is absolutely no hope whatsoever.
-
I meant more that a direct intervention would be admitting that his scapegoat can't be kept in a cage. If his system was perfect, being in Class E would eventually iron out these defiant kinks. The way he'll fight back is likely going to be by instituting more oppressive or discriminatory measures for Class E as a whole.
-
Yeah, there's that, too. He's a pretty traditional Matsui sorta villain who intends to keep complete order in his/her own train of logic, even if it ends up resorting to more stubborn tactics.
Also has to deal with his equally insane son trying to uncover the Class E conspiracy.
-
Asano's system of creating a lowest caste to "appease" other students ego, sending out the message to "you at least aren't those guys" is likely a direct symbolism of feudal era Japan's "eta/hinin" system. Which is exactly the same.
Assclass is loosely based on the Chuushingura, so it's not a stretch that Matsui is using other feudal-era backgrounds as a theme.
-
Assclass is loosely based on the Chuushingura,
If that's true, then that poor octopus is as good as dead.
-
If that's true, then that poor octopus is as good as dead.
Well by the end of the story perhaps. But Either Asano Sr. or Jr. have to get off'd first if not both.

! Holy shit I love it when Karasuma just goes all out lol
-
Hot damn, that character development. And here I thought four eyes was going to be a background character with an otaku quirk.
-
Viz just announced they will be publishing the graphic novels of this in English (like Soma, it won't be in the magazine for content reasons)
-
Korosensei would be ashamed. He's not an alien at all!
But good to hear

Are you going to translate Assassination Classroom by any chance?
-
It seems my role today is being the bringer of good stuff? Ok. Chapter 80, everyone. Because. . .it wasn't yet translated. . .right? (and in case it was, total freaking shame on you for not sharing. . .)
Now, if I could keep this up and bring the next Dorohedoro chapter too. . .been fucking ages since last chapter. . .

RAW 83
! My reaction throughout the chapter:
! Haha, okay, nice gag chapter I guess. Seems Korosensei's being framed! And look who it is! Some guy we barely saw? Hmm, I wonder what he's doing there… holy shit things just changed momentum right there with Itona -

83 is out, and lol at the Jagi reference.

That's one way to raise a thunderdome, with ladies' underwear falling around.

And suddenly, deathtrap.

Forever 0 .

I have been reading raws up to 86 and
! the plot is advancing, at least with Itona and Shiro. After what happened in the pool arc seems that Terasaka gets more spotlight when it comes to troubles with Itona. I suppose that if Itona survives he may join the class like Ritsu.
Anybody else still reading this series? -
Yeah, absolutely. Just doesn't seem to drum up much discussion here, but as with anything Matsui would put out I'd eat it up.
! Yeah terasaka's really joining the fold as as the muscle just like Godai in Neuro. As soon as Shiro abandoned Itona a few chapters ago I figured that it was about time that Itona finally joined the group. Seems the first stop is the delinquents lol
-
Indeed, the author is great. Humor and good plot in equal doses and the drawing has some short of charm and personality and it's getting better.
I haven't read Neuro yet but I might start it when I get some time.! Regarding AssClass I can't even begin to imagine Itona in the flow of a normal class and taking exams in the main building. It's gonna bring some hilarious situations. About future plots I wonder about that "Shinigami" assassin that killed Lovro, the kids' former teacher (maybe Korosensei's original body?) and Nagisa's development as an assassin.
I bought the japanese volumes and read the extra data and while most of the kids have a "dream for the future" some like Nagisa and Terasaka have "Nothing special". That makes me wonder how they will end. I don't think you can have a full class of kids raised to be super assassins xD I mean… trying to kill Korosensei is something but turning into real assassins and kill humans would be a bit too much. Even for a sociopath like Karma. -
Neuro is a bit of a different thing, and I think its overall pacing in terms of the early manga for a weekly magazine is better than AssClass because of the mix up of pretty unique villains before it goes hard into the battle scene versus the student-of-the-week sorta gig ass class kinda does, which is why it's kinda hard to drum up discussion here I think because it feels like the plot up to a certain point hasn't really been progressing. But as with ass class, many interesting concepts and reflections and analogies, interesting side characters, and it's pretty engaging.
! Well, I'd imagine that Itona'd have to get some acclimating to actually join the class. Right now to integrate with the delinquents I bet Terasaka's gonna get him back for that comment he made about him weaker than Karma lol. But yeah, as with Neuro, seems like Matsui's starting to bring in the big storylines around now. Should see some involvement of Asano whenever Korosensei theoretically follows suit with the 47 ronin analogy and "kills" one or the other Asano off, or maybe he's a big bad of some sort considering the elder Asano seems to know Korosensei's true motivations. The shinigami dude, man, that should be interesting, though. Seems like he has Nagisa's whole schtick of completely disarming his target's sense of danger or something like that considering he met Lovro at basically point blank range.
! Yeah Matsui's extra data and drawings in the tankobon are all pretty funny and great I think, although I've only seen some from AssClass and am more familiar with Neuro. -
I'm following (and so far, liking) AssClass too, just not keeping up with the raws, but with the scanlated material.
I still think Neuro was a more imaginative and wild manga, but AssClass has charm in spades.
BTW, does this super lame-ass "edgy 90's kid" that constantly tries to kill Koro ever learn that he's a freaking failure?
-
Which one? Karma? He scores too high on exams, but around, what was it, I want to say finals, he realizes he has a long way to go, but that was around chapter 53 or so.
-
@Purple:

No, I mean the pseudo-koro-clone, that kid with tentacles and stuff.
I'm perfectly fine with Karma, but this kid sucks big dinosaur balls, and he's always screwing up.
-
Still reading it; it's actually one of my favourite ongoing series.
The current arc looks to be answering your question, I think. -
Yeah, what Somewhere said. Edgy 90's kid Itona's fault is less that he's that sorta way and more that he's kinda just programmed that way, but I'm sure ya knew that, too. So we'll see what happens to him
-
My Japanese is still pretty basic (my English too so I can't really offer a proper debate) but what I understood was
! that Shiro met Itona when he was a normal kid and experimented on him so I doubt they are going to let Itona as the evil one. I bet more on that he's going to be "fixed and reformed" in a Ritsu-like fashion but probably more complex since his case is different and relevant to the plot to a certain extent.
-
! Well, yeah, I mean the recurring theme has always been that Korosensei never gives up on anyone under his tutelage, so they'll probably try to integrate him into the class.
! First stop, the hoodlums -
! Yeah. Maybe is time for Hazama and the two boys to be developed? Because Hazama had her "Sadako girl" moment and that but those two have been there more like to make Terasaka stand out more. And Terasaka is obviously gonna suck a lot of spot light since he is probably still sore from Itona's comment about him lacking vision and being weaker than Karma, like you said.
Also someone is going to have to fix all the mess Itona caused. This may not be important but I wonder what Karasuma will think when he learns that the kids fought against the police/soldiers to help Korosensei. -

Also someone is going to have to fix all the mess Itona caused. This may not be important but I wonder what Karasuma will think when he learns that the kids fought against the police/soldiers to help Korosensei.! To me it seemed like those weren't police/soldiers but members of that weird moon cult that Shiro belongs to (obviously by their manner of dress), and if they were to nail the kill on korosensei then the kids wouldn't be able to get the bounty. Yeah, matters of the world in their hands, but it's kinda clear at this point that they want it done their way. Also, the cult is kinda fishy, too, of course, so who knows what the government thinks about them
-
! Ah yeah! Didn't thought of that. Do you think Shiro may had something to do with Korosensei's "creation" or that woman's death? Like also being in the laboratory or whatever place it was that looked like it exploded (or was trashed by Korosensei after mutating) in Korosensei's flashback.
And yes, they want it done their way for sure. I was thinking about Karasuma's reaction more… in a comedic way. I'm a total fan of relationship building between characters and reactions to whatever happens that give away little traits about them xD -
