Ooooooooo.
Nice looking Godzilla shots or no (nice tail), Bryan Cranston looks like he's doing a good job.

All these trailers, and I just love how they're still concealing Big G himself behind a veil of mist and curtains, so as to not blow a good majority of the film's suspense, mystery, and intrigue.
We've been getting better looks at him as time goes by though.
!
Fffffff- GODZILLA!!! 8D 8D 8D
We've been getting better looks at him as time goes by though.
Awwwww! My BABY!!!
The best thing about this movie for me is all the 'zilla movies finally being released on bluray to cash in on the hype. Up to now we've only had the recent criterion release of the '54 original and Biolente.
And now:
Soooooooo excited for this one!
Only recently I learned that the Godzilla is (kind of) on our side in this film. Fighting against other monsters right?
Apparently. But he's also, y'know, destroying shit with no real thought for humans.
It sounds like he's a territorial guard dog: fights invaders it sees as threats but doesn't pay attention any damage to its 'territory' …as long as its him doing the damage ... but he'll kick ass it its some other monster nudging into his turf
It sound more like a theme from the old Godzilla movies and nothing like that (what... 2000?) most recent movie that had him...her...it? looking for a nest site in NY
Godzilla 2000/Millenium was actually from Toho; the 1998 Godzilla was the one in New York.
If I recall correctly, 2000 has a line towards the end where they say something about Godzilla coming to defend them after he kills off the opposing giant monster. Right after that, he starts burning Tokyo to the ground.
It goes something like:
Characters: "There's a bit of Godzilla in all of us!"
Female Kenny: "Yaaaaaaaay, Godzilla!"
Godzilla: "Welp, back to business." Massive energy blast

Ah thanks.
I didn't even remember that there were 2 in that time period, I just remember one where zilla-fans really didn't like it
Do we know who the enemy monster is in this film?
Big monsters has been always a winning formula for me.
Godzilla 1998 was a good enough movie for me in my childhood, Jurassic Park is still my favorite film of all times.
Recently Pacific Rim did not disappoint (although I really spoiled myself by watching every single trailers, TV spots, clips, extended looks, interviews, concept arts of that movie).
I'm so glad that the makers and marketing guys are hiding the real stuff for the film.
I hope Godzilla breaths fire(?) in this one.
Found these pictures of Godzilla's enemies in the upcoming film.

Do we know who the enemy monster is in this film?
I think they are called "MUTO" and they look like gigantic insects..?
There's two of them, one can fly and the other one is like a centipede.
Maybe.
I hope Godzilla breaths fire(?) in this one.
I thought he breathed fire in the 1998 film? (I swear I remember him roaring and a fireball chasing the protags in the climax)

actually in the 1998 the monster is she ..or at least hermaphrodite. After all it laid eggs!
And from the wiki article on the 1998 movie there was no mention of the monster being able to breathe fire.
Many critics have said the 1998 monster was like a totally different monster.

Asexual reproduction.

And in a bit more related news, I might have found the best picture of Godzilla yet.
However I will put it in spoilers because of how clear it is.

Probably, I know San Francisco is in some of the posters.
And in more related news, we have a new tv spot. For those who STILL don't want to see him in all his glory…spoiler tagged.
!
And you thought that picture I posted was clear enough….this is officially the movie I'm most excited about for the summer.
Also is it weird that there is incest between Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver?

BEAUTIFUL!!
Also, why the hell are you asking about Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver in the GODZILLA thread? Go ask that in the Marvel thread.

It was a joke. As you can see in that TV spot, Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron-Taylor Johnson are a couple in Godzilla. They also play the twins in Avengers 2.

If they go by ultimate marvel standards they may just be a couple in the movie too (they won't)
Awwww, so much hate on 1998 Godzilla.
And rightfully so.
Speaking of '98 godzilla - although it was awful, it did spawn a really rather good animated series.
And just like with the majority of the old movies, a western company has decided that with the new movie looming, now is the perfect opportunity to re-release it:

1998 Godzilla would have been a perfectly passable (though really stupid) giant monster movie; it's just as a Godzilla movie that it fails utterly.
Far as 2014 Godzilla goes, the roar is the only thing I have a problem with but they're hopefully cutting it off short on purpose.

Oh yes. That was a goodie.
I also recall an animated series for Men In Black. That was good too.
I actually liked the Zilla redesign. It was less man in a suit and the ideas were sound.
Of course the actual movie was crap and she didn't act at all like godzilla and the redesign was so far removed as to be basically unrecognizable… so its best brushed aside and quickly destroyed like it was later in Final Wars.
If it had been a proper godzilla film the design might have found more traction, (the tv show was good) but as is... oh well!
There's also a line in Godzilla 2000 I think where they mention the Americans taking out a monster they thought was Godzilla but was actually a much wussier knockoff.
@Cyan:

With the way 98 Godzilla died I'm inclined to agree,

lol I couldn't understand was being said but I loved the guy's temper tatrum at the end
Okay we have the clearest picture of Big G in all his glory, spoiler tagged as always, but for those who look, bow down in worship.

The King has returned.
The King seems to have disappeared.
~~For whatever reason, without the www in front of the URL it just redirects to the front page of that site.
Edit: seems they fixed whatever the problem was, or maybe now that it's in been seen once my browser knows where to look.
Here's the news link just in case: http://www.comingsoon.net/news/movienews.php?id=117538~~
I hear that there will be a new trailer for Chris Nolan's Interstellar in front of Godzilla screenings.
Great stuff.
