…what?
They're saying that everything looks goofy because it's seen through Luffy's lens.
Though the audience stand-in is actually Usopp, so maybe it's seen through HIS lens.

So…Luffy or Ussop has telekinetic powers that tap into others' flash backs, and activities happening all the way across the ocean in locations he has yet to visit?
Mashima is also using a PC in order to draw FT while Oda is against that.Everything he does is handmade.
Personally I think OP's art is the best weekly.Amazing details, awesome designs,Oda draws everything pretty damn good.

He does everything with a computer? Lame. For some reason that just takes away the idea of 'skill' for me.
Another reason why Oda is one of the best. He doesn't use the computer. Puts his blood, sweet, and soul into his art work. FT has been feeling bleh recently.
Also saw someone say that OP is the best artwork of a weekly. I do love OP art but Krate Shoukoushi Kohinata Minoru has some AMAZING art work! I'd have to saw for a weekly it has my favorite art work.

Wrong. You're not going to be a good digital artist if you can't do traditional work.
Then there's the fact that digital in itself is a skill that takes some getting used to and not every artist is willing to relearn the tricks they need to know to get their desired effects.
Well I always thought that Oda has problem with the hands of his characters and especially the fingers
Look at that cool looking Mihawk, his fingers are just very bad drawn…

And It didn't get better look at Robin's fingers, I don't kno why but i just didn't liked them

But then right above the second one you have Luffy's awesome, creased, clearly defined fingers. I've actually thought fingers are one of Oda's strengths. There's evidence for both sides of this.
Great fingers.
I thought OP was ridiculous with the long legs/short upper body thing, then I saw this:
Fucking CLAMP
Eh, I personally love the art style; it's nice and unique. Though sometimes the narrow waists on the ladies looks kinda weird…

What?!
I actually enjoy OP art and No it does not suck.
Honestly, there is no such thing as shitty art. Art, like beauty, is subjective.
I'm not a fan of Picasso's weird art style (especially that painting with the prostitutes), yet his paintings are being sold for millions and millions on top of millions doing missionary on another million of dollars.
I love the art of one piece.

um…yeah there's such a thing as shitty art. It's when you suck at it.
OR in Togashi's case, you are skilled at it, but just don't give a shit and take a dump on a piece of paper. That is literally shitty art.
I think some people with questionable intelligence assume that if you have weird looking, imperfect characters you just aren't a good enough artist to draw them correctly. Like, talent is judged based on how pretty, cool, and ideal the characters look. Honestly, I avoid that animu bullcrap like the plague while I am immediately drawn to the lively, unique art of authors like Oda and Toriyama who employ more elements of caricature than idealization. The personalities of the artists really shine through these works and create an overall character and aesthetic that in my opinion has more value than technical skill alone, which Oda obviously doesn't lack either. I have always appreciated his exaggerated foreshortening to create depth in a two dimensional work and the extremely expressive, distinct character designs (not so much for the females as of late but eh…) Like most people, I would agree that his art probably peaked around Skypiea and Water 7 but is still really solid.
Some artists like Mashima, for example, have a certain degree of technical skill but end up producing drawings that are so bland and generic that I feel a little dead looking at them. In the end, I think creativity is probably more important than technical skill when it comes to manga art but for whatever reason, some people seem to just want more of the same. I remember kids trying to tell me that Dragonball wasn't really an anime because it looked more cartoony. Hahahahahahahahaha.....ha.
I don't blame people for not personally liking Oda's style but denying that it is objectively quality stuff just seems narrow minded as hell.

Like I said, art is subjective. You might think you suck at it, but other people might not like this for example.
"Woman" by William de Kooning

There are people (including me and possibly you) that think this painting is ugly and think the dude that painted it sucks at drawing; however, this painting was bought for a bit over 137.5 million dollars at an auction.
Lesson of the day: Anyone's "shitty" art can potentionally be worth millions of dollars.

Sometimes I've noticed the art can be scratchy and rough, like in this page. It seems Oda was in a hurry when he drew this. Can say I blame him. It's hard to pull off that effect.

Bottom right panel.

Nah the lesson is that in this world there are some dumbasses that are beyond help period . I dunno how anyone can waste more than 100 dollars on that but 137.5 million?! I have officially found the world's dumbest person .
I read all of "The Big 3". I don't see why people are hating on the art in Bleach. Bad and lacking are two different things in my opinion. Yes, Bleach lacks backgrounds but the art really isn't bad. If you read an actual print copy the drawings are extremely crisp and clean. Online versions don't really do it justice.
And no, One Piece art doesn't suck at all. The only art that I find off-putting would be the early One Piece chapters. And again, there's a major difference between reading a print version and a scan.
The character designs in one piece generally are great. Most of the enemies have brilliant designs, especially Blackbeard.
The two complaints I have are with the women in general, and the fishmen and mermaids at fishman island. The women have nearly the same face and bodies with different hair and height. The fishmen and mermaids were very bland and could have used a lot more detail.
Other than that, I see no problem with any of the art. Oda is very skilled at making the characters come alive, just by looking at the expressions on the character's face.
I can see why people thought it was bad at the start when One Piece first started, but it has improved immensely lol
After reading some opinions, I guess I can agree with anime most likely being the main reason why people can't get into OP. After all OP is the most popular manga in Japan, but in Japan manga is on top, not anime.
Another thing I can note is that iirc OP online translations at beginning had terrible quality, although it's been years since those bad quality scans got replaced with better scans.
All I can say is that as a kid i watched shitons of cartoons, so i didn't find anything bad with One piece back then when i watched the censored version ( i was like 12 and at the time Dragon Ball was my favorite thing ever). And now i consider its style very unique, creative and overall very good.
NOPE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
One Piece art doesn´t suck. It´s just stylish in a unique way. Most manga fans are simply unfamillar with it.

Say "western" anime fans and you might have that right. Emphasis on American.
One Piece's art is brilliant. Oda is an endless well of imagination and his work ethic is second to none. There may be more sharp or stylish mangaka out there but none have as much charm or personality as Oda. Personally i'll take personality over 'cool' looking art every time.
I think his art shines brightest in his color spreads.
I love One Piece's artwork. The characters are unique and a their appearances really help add to their personality. I do agree with the statements about the women though. There are lot who have hourglass figures and are well-endowed. Other than that, I can't really complain. Oh, and contrary to some opinions there are tons of attractive characters in One Piece. They're not "bishounen" or "ikemen" (okay, Cabbage is obviously a bishounen), but they're attractive nonetheless. Oda-sensei's art has definitely improved over the years as the series progressed. The detailing and shading and general character designs are amazing.
