I think the memory lost it´s just too much. It would be the DF power with more reach by far of all the series: If for example Luffy was turned into a toy, then not only all his nakama on the same island will forget about him, but also Dragon and Garp whenever they are in the world, AND it will also affect the memory OF ENEL WHO IS IN THE MOON. In my opinion this power is just too much.
Chapter 728: "Number of Tragedies"

I found that pretty strange, hell I think that the whole side effect thing is absurd, we have had so many Devil Fruit that allow the user to turn a person into something and non of them have such of side effects or no side effects at all
Losing your shadow makes you vulnerable to sunlight.

Yes. Bonney and Jora.
-
Violet's ability would be very nice for the mugiwaras and their survival in the New World, that way they will be able to avoid dangers till they are able to beat them and to hit opponents where they are the weakest.
I would take her ability over > Fire fruit as part of Luffy's crew.If violet is a member of SHc, luffy will surely use her ability to go on the most dangerous path as much as possible, not the other way around. :ninja:
-
We'll end up with a shit ton of plot holes if Ods fucks this up. With the toys situation going on I m not sure thst he can pull it all flawlessly like he usually does.
Oh, and a related/unrelated question: why didn't Doffy jut kill Violet to get her fruit? :/
-

The toymaker should make toys out of all the mugiwara's at the end of the arc, that way everybody forgets about them (pirates and navy). Sail to Raftel without any care in the world. Toy maker undo's his magic and POOF ! instant pirate king.
Not sure if the memories return to everybody or they will have a random guy for pirate king all of a sudden XD
-

Kalifa, Jola, Tsuru, and Hancock, I don't know If we should place Bonney and Iva on the transformation list because they just alter the body rather than make a full body change

We don't know the effective range. I doubt it extends past the island.
Also, Capone can shrink people and objects who come within range of him, And Blamenco of the WB pirates could probably use his ability to put people in his pockets (though only objects have been shown).

I'm hoping that Oda doesn't mess this arc up with all those plots he have going on but the only thing that threw me off is this memory thing

just a question:
If:
Pika - Spade
Trebol - Club
Diamante - DiamondWho is the "Heart" guy? Is it Doflamingo or another unknown underling?
-
my first thoughts on this were implants^^
but for real
i dont think he's a cyborgapart from the pacifistas franky always seemed unique and way ahead of their time like vegapunk
This is silly, there have been shown to be many cyborgs other than franky. Maybe not many, but atleast two in Kaidou's employ, Kidd is another, the one g5 marine.
-

It's implied the "Heart" person was Law before he defected.

Heart was reserved for Law..

I wonder what pica, Trebol, and Diamanté bounties will be, I know it won't be much considering Dofla been a shichibukia for 10yrs so theirs probably haven't gone up since then...

@Toraish:
He's gotten too sloppy with his main cast recently and it's hurting the overall quality of the arcs they feature in pretty bad. It's like he spent so long writing other world building related stuff with ID and Marineford that he completely forgot how to handle the small scale adventures that he excelled at earlier on.
how does not focusing on the emotional status of the crew for a large arc make it bad? It was the same with Alabastia, and Skypiea. the characters got their emotional focus during the war saga… and they showed of their skills in FI. they dont need any real focus until something stops them dead in their tracks. that thing has to be a real obstacle.
that being said, yeah something may be affecting Robin soon as this is a heavy parallel, but nothing about the main cast thus far is bad... all it has shown thus far is how confident and competent they have become over the 2 years.
Interestingly enough this is going back to the old days, focusing on luffy's involvment with newer members, and their emotions. luffy only saved usopp and the village buggy attacked out of respect, but keeping him the same emotionally as he always has been.
its on a bigger scale, but i dont find any of that sloppy.
-

To an extent, you could be right with Skypiea … maybe ... but then Chopper's time in that arc ... ? And to an extent the others too ...
But Alabasta? hahaha. Every member of the crew shines through there as well as Vivi and Cobra and Pell :p
Dressrosa kind of needs that. We've got Riku and the Soldier, and it's looking like we'll get at least Rebecca and Bellamy showing well, and hopefully some others too (Cavendish, Law, Violet, Kinemon and Tank come to mind). But unfortunately, we are a bit lacking on the crew front. This chapter started to show some of the crew get invested in plan take down Doflamingo. If that continues, it could lead to the crew shining through, but to be honest, it is looking a little unlikely? -
@Monkey:
Which suggests something about the little girl.
Dellinger is undeniably a young man in that one panel we saw.
Y'know, just like Rebecca.
.yeah true lets see what he does next round in the tournament
-
The reason why some people are unpleased with these slow or flashback chapters is because there have been like 3-4 years since we saw the strawhats bringing down a important character.Once Doflamingo will go down and the hunger will vanish these kind of chapters will be the best.
-
@Fire Fist:
It's implied the "Heart" person was Law before he defected.
Let's go one step further (or backwards in time if you want so): The person Law is referring to might really be the former seat of heart. Sumhow and somewhen b4 the attack of DR that Person tried to betray DD just like Law tries right now and got killed. Law (although much younger at that time) was in that guy's "army" (just like there is a trebol army or Pica army). And just because he was in the traitor's army he got "punished" by Vergo (at least Vergo did sth. to Law so he had a trauma from that event, DD stated that when Vergo was "full body CoA'd", though IDK the reason why Vergo traumatized Law in the 1st place). He left (or sailed further under) DD and established the heart pirates. Since he grew in fame during the last years, DD promised him the seat of his former army leader. What do you think? Any flaws in this theory? After all, 10 yrs ago Law might have been as old as Dellinger or the eye-patch Girl or even older if he is older than Luffy. If he already had his DF he would have been useful for Doffy.

Bout DD's Crew I have to say: this is an insane NW-crew. I hope it's not the last crazy crew we see (well excluding the BBs). We can see that Oda was really lookin forward to show us this crew. Each one has a unique design and/or a crazy DF. If you look @ WB's commanders you can assume that after the 8th commander, Oda slowly ran out of ideas for the latter 8 (the Knight-commander looked totally fodder-random to begin with). But Doffy's crew was thought out very well since a long time ago.

I disagree in marineford Oda showcased a whole slew of characters, and some characters cast a larger shadow than others. While some just didn't get shown enough, I think its opinion to say some of wb's commanders weren't interesting. When we just weren't shown enough of many of them.
Hell I could argue all of shanks crew just look like random guys in cloaks/capes? and thus aren't that interesting.
-
Everyone wants to see the Doflamingo fight, this is heating up to be so awesome! I can't wait!
Also….Monet-SWAAAAAN!!! -

You're right, the big Problem of MF-war-arc was the sheer number of new chars we have met there the 1st time. Maybe I'd think different if each WB-commander had more screen time, but if we'll meet the WBs again in the future, I doubt that anyone except the 1st six commanders will be very important to the Story (Blamenco's DF looks interesting). IMO the only rememberable NW-captains have been the dude with the monkey, the Decalvan Bros and Whitey Bay. It sure is a matter of taste and right now I am just speaking of their designs (as I already did with WB's commanders). I'm just implying that it seems to me like Oda took more time for DD's crew than for WB's in their design-process.

Robin facefault <3
And people really want Violet for SH crew? She's so boring! Straw Hats need to have humongous personalities, they can't be meek and timid, they're pirates!
Are you saying what im thinking? Yes im sure you do. Bart for new nakama! But… the fact that his interaction with Luffy was offscreen kinda dooms this i think :<

Wait to see Bellamys' response or what he does. I would like Bellamy on crew. He isn't too bad. But there are a lot,of reasons as to why he can't.
-
Just thinking about the way that Monet appeared in this chapter…Did we ever see her without her harpy wings during PH? I can't really remember.

She is a cutie :p
Although can you imagine how Doflamingo randomly came in and said in a sly tone of voice "I'm here to save this country, the names Donquixote Doflamingo".Such a good page.

Only on flashbacks

Only on flashbacks
Cheers. I wonder how she ended up as a Harpy. I really should re-read Punk Hazard, I can barely remember anything Monet related except for Zoro terrifying her.
-
-
Law happened, she must have requested it
Hmm that's how it is according to onepiece.wikia but it's never a particularly reliable source of information. Still if that is the case it's just a bit random really.
-

Basically all we got is that people can't walk anymore, brownbeard lost his legs, suddenly law shows up and everyone have animal parts
since Monet was shown to be normal in PH timeskips and she was around when law showed up, and after that event she became a harpy, everyone simply connected the dots to come up with that conclusion, BUT it was never mentioned or confirmed. -

I couldn't remember a definitive reason for Monet's harpy body, and as you've said, there still hasn't been one revealed. It's just weird since Brownbeard and co. really needed the transplant, while as far as we know Monet was perfectly healthy.
-
It wasn't just "everyone simply connecting the dots". Brownbeard explained that Law used his ability to give everyone new limbs, and Usopp said "the centaurs and the harpy all make sense now" (Chapter 664). The only issue is whether you consider Usopp to be a valid source of information in this context.
-

Well yeah, that's just Usopp's conclusion, and even though it is the most likely way Monet got her limbs it still isn't definitive.
-
Or it is cause she is a logia and that is the way she wants to look like.
-
baby 5 is super cute and i love how barto managed to make me laugh without even appearing in the chapter.
-
-

Probably lost legs in an accident, Logia got penetrated, like Aokiji lost a leg. It would be more efficient if she had real legs and flight capabilities

@Light:
People train don't they?
Maybe he's not on Luffy's level but I don't expect him being instantly pwn'd either. What conflict would that be?
Training or not, there are some gulf that cannot be close.
-

Yea but also I'm sure its 10x easier to plan for the maybe 50 characters introduced this arc vs 1600 of wbs dudes + the hundreds of other guys.
But shit I think Vista was the coolest swordsman since sliced bread.
-
Training or not, there are some gulf that cannot be close.
Yeah but I doubt Bellamy is going to throw himself head first and totally exposed at Luffy this time. There's no way he's going to try and fight Luffy 1-on-1, a sly and conflicted assassination attempt blocked by Barto is the most likely outcome.
-

So either kid has a cybernetic arm, OR he has a arm made of metal that he controls with the power of magnetism. Meanwhile its been shown that his power isn't at good as magneto, so controlling the metal arm seems kinda hard.
There was a guy with scotch in the caribou cover story who seemed to be rather full robot, but i think its safe to assume he is a cyborg. Theres the g5 marine with the big fancy legs, Yarisugi i think his name was
-
Barto stone walling Bellemy or Bellemy having no intent on actually attacking Luffy seems due to the likely outcome. I simply cannot see Luffy wasting his time fighting this guy hehehe. Awesome Chapter, and my predictive skills are worthless =)
-
It might sound stupid, but IMO Monet just wanted to be like a bird (just like Gerald Broflofski wanted to be a dolphin in that South Park-Episode). For sure it wasn't becuase she wanted the ability to fly. Logias can fly without having wings. She just wanted to be like a bird. Just like Tonjit wanted to break the walk-on-sticks-record, or Luffy's desire for beetles. Yasiguri doesn't look like a Cyborg to me. He just has strange legs, CC has strange eyes and Trebol has strange hair/beard. Scotch is a Cyborg, definitely.
-
I ain't trying to be nothing. The last two chapters are the worst since the time-skip in my opinion. There is no movement and soon we'll have a break. This whole year has been wasted on part of PH and then Dressarosa. In a 52 week per year, Oda is now managing 30 episodes when he used to do above 40. It is annoying to live with the threat of another break every other week when there's only a lousy flashback to live with.
This is the worst episode of One Piece ever! And its just so ridiculous that the Anime has become shit; how can Ceaser hold a grizzly magnum that was suppose to blow him away for a couple seconds first? Even a baby will see through that garbage animation. I have now quit watching the Anime completely since that episode and I will never go back. God help us with the manga.
I think most people expectation are too high because of the Whitebeard arc, it was a great arc and every chapter was amazing. People expect that pace now in every arc but that aint gonna happen. I think dressrosa arc has been great so far much better than fishmen arc for example..
But I have to agree that 2013 oda has performed poorly , theres no discussion about it.
-
But I have to agree that 2013 oda has performed poorly , theres no discussion about it.
He hasn't, we have way too many plot lines and each one of them involves a strawhats, he has to place the strawhats aside and develop those characters that will become relevant later on in this arc, Oda has been developing 70% of the characters so far, so we can take a liking to them before things start to get messy in this arc.
People just want to see the Strawhats curb stomping everybody but what's the point on having them fight some characters that we don't know shit about, look at Pica he hasn't have a real moment yet, so I'm not giving a flying F* about him even though he is a seat, so this Oda has been doing poorly is just nonsense
-
Are people actually talking about this arc being terrible?! Was it not like a couple of weeks ago people talking about Dressrosa being possibly one of the best arcs?! I'm never been a fan of flashbacks but imo this arc has been fantastic.
-

If there is a chance for an arc to have a flashback then one will take place no matter what. There is no avoiding it.
