Elephant Gun is still so damn strong!! And Luffy's CoA improves every damn minute.. lol
One Piece 719: Open Chinjao
-
-
Don chinjao and he's fleet will become a alloy of luffys.
-
Strawhats ain't getting another training Timeskip, seriously WTF is wrong with this people? You think one piece is bleach or something where every arc Ichigo had to train? Hell no.
I don't see any flaw in this logic. Like Chinjao said, strawhats aren't on level to fight and beat admirals and jonkous. For now it's not just Luffy, but rest of supernovas are teaming up to have a chance against jonkous, however if Luffy can't solo yonkou by himself then it's just a meaningless victory anyway. If he can't fight on par with yonkou then it would be a joke for him to become PK.
-
I just love the way Oda draws those shocked faces.
-
Don chinjao and he's fleet will become a alloy of luffys.
True, all this Colosseum stuff will allow Luffy, or perhaps the alliance Luffy&Law to gain more members, I expect Cavendish and bellemy too (not sur about Bartlomeo, even thought his DF will be very useful )… They will surely beat Donquixote family, and then go against Kaido.
And I loved this chapter, It really shows How Oda can make funny intrigues inside a serious long running intrigue

But you can see that Chinjao doesn't know what's the reach of Luffy's power and that he thought that he'd be able to win, right?
-
yes indeed
dofla will will have problems if he joined the strawhats
It's sig clicking time!

Yeah, and Chinjao said he gonna kill Luffy, and now he's sleep underwater… You can't take his word seriously...

Its worst gens not supernovas, and Luffy isn't fighting a yonko anytime soon, Luffy will probably go through 3 or 4 more arcs before even seeing a yonko, each time Luffy defeats someone he gets stronger(he will probably take Dofla down this arc, same Dofla who was toying with a yonko 3rd commander) and for damn sake we haven't seen Luffy full strength yet and if Law can survive an Admiral n shichibukia attack then yeah An Admiral need to go serious to take down Luffy now…
After all people said the same sh*t, Luffy can't defeat any shichibukia, Luffy don't stand a chance against Crocodile but he still defeated him...
Well seems people gave even easier explanation.
-
But you know that Chinjao doesn't know what's the reach of Luffy's power and that he thought that he'd able to win, right?
Bartolomeo, Cavendish and Burgess withnessed fight and they weren't too impressed by his fighting capability.
-
It was a solid chapter. I also thought Chinjao would be a tougher opponent but on the other hand I'm curious about Luffy. We know that Luffy's Busoshoku abilities still needed development (I remember when Hody bit Luffy without any big problems). So if Chinjao's head is really that hard then it seems like Luffy improved his Busoshoku skills in some way. Well but it was quite refreshing to see Garp. So now I guess we can finally expect the start of the "main event" of this arc, well whatever let's see.
I guess his headbutts are stronger with his pointy head, also he isn't on his prime anymore
-
Caribou's cover story can involve Dragon maybe that Gaburu guy is a revolutionairy and he can still be alive. So he kidnaps Caribou and brings him to dragon so they can interrogate him
-

Isn't Caribou just Gaburu with amnesia or something?

Well, we'll see what happens. :) It' makes sense either way, but I'd prefer for yonkou level to be above level of gaining more fighting experience.
-

who cares if they're impressed or not? So you using impression to judge? Lmao
-
so many sub-plots you got to love dressrossa arc
-

No yonko level will be Luffy fight a yonko with help probably lose first round, after he wins then next yonko Luffy will fight with no help….
-
It seems that Luffy's attack doesn't create thunder . That's only a pain/impact indication like Snake shot .
-

No, but I imagine that fighting power at level of younkou is supposed to be impressive at least. Bartolomeo and Cavendish are planning to kill Luffy, yet they still behaves like he's below theyr level of power, otherwise they would realise that it won't be so easy as just to go beat him into the next round of tournament.
-
naah,it wasn't electricity..it was called "thor" because it is an evolution of the gomu-gomu ame (rain) used at impel down if i remember correctly, but instead of a "gatling from above" it was an "elephant gun from above" just like a thunder
Yeah, it seems he called it Thor since he came from the sky like a lightning strike. Coincidentally, it's also like a mortar strike, and there was that Thor mortar mentioned in the spoiler thread.
-

Luffy the rubber man creating thunder would be the most stupid shit ever

Because everyone thinks Luffy is not strong enough, almost all Luffy opponents underestimate him thinking he's below them but when they face him they badly lose and realize how strong Luffy is… Ex pre-Timeskip Bellamy thought Luffy was another bluff of pirate but when Luffy decided to fight him he owned him with one punch, same here- DC thinks Luffy lacks strength, isn't capable of anything but Luffy got serious and knocked him unconscious..
Of course they will be shocked if it was a yonko, yonko's are known pirates who have been there for years, people have seen and know what their capable of. Are forgetting that Luffy and his crew hasn't been on sea for a year?

I'm not talking about physical appearance, but about his battle strength. If someone at yonkou level is supposed to have level of strength to destroy islands easily, then Luffy have to push himself to gear 3+armaments and it still won't be enough to destroy a island. Don Chiajou is said to have cracked entire continent in his prime, guess how strong Luffy is compared to that level of brute strength. Until I see him to crack a island open with a single punch I won't believe that he's anywhere near to level of yonkou.
-

did someone really though that was an electric attack?
-
Ahahahaha!!… It's been a while since I've had one of those laugh-out-loud One Piece 'I can't believe he just made that a plot point' moments! But Luffy's punch returning Chinjao's stupid drill head - ah, man. Funny stuff.
-
Oh, and can anyone tell me what the hell is the words in the back of young Chinjao's coat?
I think it means "8 treasures".

宝Anyway great chapter. Nice fight, interesting back story, and both funny and epic conclusion. I can see Don crying and thanking Luffy for giving him his head back in next chapter (or later).
My biggest mystery is Baro. What's his deal? He didn't say anything like "Youre not killing him, I am!", just that Cavendish isn't going to kill him. May that mean that he doesn't want Luffy dead and isn't really just another enemy? That would be cool, but may be just my wishfull thinking.
-
Mangapanda & Mangareader are exactly the same thing and Mangarule is fucking dead.
Speaking of which, are you planning to do the chapter this weel ?
(I assume that the answer is yes, but I'm asking just in case)
-
Nice Chapter.
Covered all the basics about Chinjaos history. In the flashback Chinjaos men say that not even fire could burn through. So i am still not sure that the Flowergangs only goal on DR was to get the Mera Mera no mi.
So Luffys attack is called Thor Elephant Gun. What is the difference to the "normal" Elephant gun. Since he calls it Thor one could say that electricity is somehow involved. The impact panel shows something. Has anyone something to add about the new attack.Im thining, that it's Luffy added Thor because of his new idea to attack from high away. He strikes from the sky just like Lightening :)
-
HAAAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAAAA LOOOOOLLOOOOOOOOOOOOLLLLL
CHINJAO LOOOOOOOOOOOOOL
my fave character now -
Heh, I like how Garp and Chinjao just got out of their ships to a small island for their dual, and with Garps line, it probably isn't the first time, either.
-
BTW, funny we have the presence of Bellamy here now that I think about it. This is arguably about to be the Shinsekai answer to Mock Town, where Luffy sort of steps into his current bounty & reputation in the eyes of the public.
-
Looking forward to C3's script, and in the meantime I can fangirl over "young" Garp. As expected, he's a fucking beast.
-
It seems that beard is actually a pretty good disguise. Burgess didn't figure it out on his own either, he just overheard Cavendish, who overheard Chinjao…
-
This is why I read One Piece. I knew this reveal was going to be silly, but the amount of irony behind it just makes the whole experience completely worth it!
This is amazing. I haven enjoyed an arc this much since Thriller Bark. (Not to say SA or the first half of ID were bad, or any of the arcs really.)
The only taint that can probably ruin it all is the Voilet and Sanji plotline, but I hope the weight on that is light and not enough to put pressure/annoyance on the whole arc. -
So after this chapter we have new information:
-Gol D Roger wasn't able to defeat ALL the four emperors (of his time) and the marine admirals.
-Burguess knows that Luffy is here looking for Ace fruit and he's alive. I think that he will contact with Blackbeard (and i imagine a final scene of this arc with Doflamingo agonizing and Blackbeard giving him the coup de grace and taking his fruit from him)
-Chinjoa is a monster and now is the new allie of Luffy. -
That was a great chapter haha. Especially Luffy's punch bringing back Chinjao's weird head shape hahahahaha.
Although Chinjao looked cooler without a weird head.
I wonde,r now that he has a pointy head again, will he go back to piracy?
The end of the chapter was definitely interesting. I kind of want Block D to happen so we have 'four champions' before the chaos begins for real. Or even for the tournament to be happening while the factory is being raided below or something.
Luffy used Rocket~ how long has it been since that?
Luffy's new attack is interesting. Lot's of people are saying things like this:
@The:
It's just "impact" lines, like when Franky punched Fukurou.
ie it's not lightning.
But the last time we had a 'Thor' attack, it was in Strong World, and there involved there being actual lightning. SO that would suggest there's lightning involved here.
I mean if he can use a fiery attack underwater, then why not . . .
-
Isn't it likely that what's happening with Thor hammer is simply
? -
Don Chinjao will pull a Duval and ally with Luffy because his punch gave him back his original head. I call it.
-
Chinjao is able to open the ice easily by with his pointed head but how did he close it ?
-
Awesome chapter. It was great to see young Garp in action for I believe the first time and it it displayed just how strong he was back in the day. Besides that DC's flashback was somewhat predictable but nonetheless very entertaining.
Regarding the rest of the tournament, with Luffy splitting the stage we will probably be focusing on the rest of the crew and law for a while and by the time it restsarts I expect everythig to just go crazy.
-
Chinjao is able to open the ice easily by with his pointed head but how did he close it ?
Just let the ice close by itself I think.
-
Chinjao is able to open the ice easily by with his pointed head but how did he close it ?
Nah, I think it was just that the ice resealed in the period of time between when he left to recover and when he came back to try break it again.
-
Chinjao is able to open the ice easily by with his pointed head but how did he close it ?
It's a new spot …
-
Bwahaha, this chapter made me laugh so much xD And I simply knew Luffy would remake his head Maybe the ones who thought Chinjao will become an ally were right, I guess he'll be simply overjoyed now! Although I don't know if he's still strong enough to get to his treasure again! Also, him getting smacked that soon shows he didn't stay (and/or) was as strong as some thought he'd be :D
Now Burgess knows about him too, wonder if he'll wreak havoc :D Him and Cavendish fighting about who'll take his head, Bellamy still deciding if he'll (try to) assassinate him (if he didn't already) and Barto at least not wanting to let Cavendish kill him….damn, this Colosseum plot is so damn fine right now.
-
Chinjao has the skull structure of a baby with the strangest fontanelle I have ever seen.
But his facial expressions are the best. -
AMAZING chapter!!!
-
What a WONDERFUL chapter.
I loved how Chinjao's past with Garp was handled, his treasure ring real treasure and the hilarious, albeit still serious way Garp took it away from him. Also nice touch with the open sesame reference!
I don't think anyone was expecting Don's head to be shaped like this :ninja: nice Oda-esque touch, and then resolved by Luffy punching it back into place. I also loved how Chinjao challenged him on thinking he can lead this era. Although this isn't something Luffy wants, since he doesn't seem to join the responsibilities of being Pirate King with the title, it is good that someone points it out to him, since after Fishman Island I believe he is going to take up a more responsible approach of "freeing islands" from their oppressors. Fishman Island is now under his protection, maybe the same will happen with Dressrosa and he will actually become a protector.
Furthermore, I thought Chinjao busting into the arena platform would reveal the factory underneath - but he's still sinking, so maybe that will happen soon.
Finally, I was excited by having cavendish, Bartolommeo, Bellamy AND burgess all together on the last page pointing out their intentions of challenging Luffy. It's going to get tough, although I expect Bellamy to change sides and team with Luffy instead.
-
Why didnt the audience or Gatz san recognize Luffy? He used a gum gum Move. Inflated his arm.
My explanation would be that, the first move grabbing Chinjaos head by stretching the arms was way to fast for the specators to see. The THOR Elephant gun maybe gave a huge flash when colliding with Chinjaos head so no one could, otherwise i could not explain it. I mean he is quite famous. Why the disguise if people even dont recognize his signature DF Moves with the stretching and all. In the panel before the blow his arm seems to be stretched out like 10-20 meters and his fist huge as fuck. It is obviously the mugiwara. Anyone has another explanation?
-
Awesome chapter!
-
hilariously, ridiculous chapter (in a good way)
But I'm starting to worry about the eyes of the spectators, they pop out so much. I can't get rid of the feeling that one day they just wont get back to their original state. xd
