DC Movies Thread - Shazam saves the day

So what if he's Walt from Breaking Bad. If he a good actor for the role why not cast him. I know I haven't really seen Breaking Bad but aren't Lex and Walt complete different.
True, but still they are the same kind of roles. Again, Cranston would just be playing a eviler, less sympathetic businessman version of Walt minus the moustache.
Corey Stoll is a better pick. Check him out in Midnight Paris, he has that intensity.
-
Bryan Cranston said he want to play Lex.
Cranston is too perfect for Gordon to be Lex, and let's not forget he's already played a bald bad guy in Breaking Bad.
Maybe that's the surprise ending to Breaking Bad; all this time, the show was the backstory of Snyder's Lex Luthor.
But anyway, Ben Affleck as Batman. I just…....I have no words.
-
idk how i feel about this….can't be worse than Christian Bale right?..........right?...
-
A bit off Topic: I hope they will hint at Barry Allen or Wally West in this movie
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
I wonder how people would react if JGL was cast as the caped crusader?
-
I'll reserve full judgment for the final product
…but the forecast isn't looking too good.
-
idk how i feel about this…like some of you I will reserve judgement until I see him as batman.
I can see him being Bruce Wayne but I'm not real sure about Batman.
-
No killing joke here. Ledger had 2 great movie rolls and I can think of 4 for Affleck off the top of my head. Obviously we have different opinions on it so why don't we leave it at that.
narrows eyes I know you're thinking of The Dark Knight and Brokeback Mountain, but I know that you're not thinking of 10 Things I Hate About You*. Or Monster's Ball.
*An often underrated amazing high school adaptation of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew. So good my tenured English college professors loved it.
-
This should obviously be part of the Superman thread. merges

I've always been on the fence with 10 things, and I know nothing about Monster's Ball but if you say he was good in that then okay I'll add it to the list.
-
Ben Affleck better bulk up, and I know that since he's being directed by Snyder he will. I hope for the costume they go with something akin to the new 52( minus the white eyes, since the live action flicks always leave them out)

I'm curious Bill, who was your first choice or did you say it already and I just missed it?
-
Apprently there a rumor the Ben will also direct a stand alone Batman Movie and that the Gotham scenes in Batman vs Superman will film in Detroit
-
Ben Affleck is Batman in Man of Steel sequel.
I'll reserve judgement however with this situation, but still…
WHAT!?!?
-
Shouldn't this be renamed DC Movie Thread or something along those lines?
-

Maybe but this movie is technically Man of Steel 2.
-
Maybe the 'Superman and Batman Thread Because We Don't Know How To Make Wonder Woman' Thread.
Yes, I'm very bitter about that.
-
Kal El the alien and The Bat Man Thread
If its made in the same style, I fully expect the Flash movie to feature the hero Wally West, and like one throwaway line of "he moved like a FLASH! wink wink"

You know DC/WB has been lucky in being able to trick audiences into believing that their last two terrible comic book movies were good but having a versus movie with the same awful writer and Ben Affleck, one of the least charismatic actors in Hollywood, as Batman? Their luck is going to run out.
-
-
The way Ben looked in The Town is perfect for this film. He looked tough, rough; he was bulky, looked serious. When Ben's directing himself he's great. It's Snyder and his team I'm worried about.
Wouldn't mind Clooney being Batman again but isn't he over 50? So I don't see WB ever doing it.
Doubt he would take the risk at this point in his career. He's won an Oscar and directed two great films, as far as I remember.
-
Mark Waid predicted this:
-
Can't be worse than Christian Bale, and his horribly cheesy, porn star voice when being Batman because it somehow masks his identity, and has absolutely nothing to do with the fullbody suit he's wearing.
God… Christian Bale is so bad.
-

Uhhhhhhhhh, no not at all

You might not think so, but I sure as heck do. Christian Bale is in my Top 5 most horrible actors/actresses, sits at about #2.
His porn star voice as Batman in Christopher Nolan's trilogy is so ridiculous and cringe-worthy, and his acting so stiff, I couldn't help but eyeroll and gag every time he tried to be serious. It sounded like he wanted to deep throat the villain instead of beat them up/capture them.
-
sigh And so it begins.
Maybe the 'Superman and Batman Thread Because We Don't Know How To Make Wonder Woman' Thread.
Yes, I'm very bitter about that.
Sad but true. You could also name it "Superman and Batman thread In A Desperate Attempt To Make Up For Green Lantern" thread.
It is still so perfect.
Doubt he would take the risk at this point in his career. He's won an Oscar and directed two great films, as far as I remember.
I heard somewhere that Clooney keeps a pic of himself as Batman on the wall in his office as a reminder to stay away from shitty roles.
-
Eh, I'll give Affleck a chance.
He was bomb in Phantoms, yo.
-
Oh goddamit, I was just informed by someone who made the same mistake that I confused Ben Affleck for Ben Stiller
I was so ready to pay money to see BEN STILLER AS THE BATSMAN
-
I've always had this idea that Ben Affleck is an allright actor as long as he's not carrying a film
As long as you don't put him in the solo lead things seem perfectly allright. So i'm sceptical about this
But who knows. He may have grown more comfortable with the bigger roles
-
Ben Stiller please
-
Keanu Reeves jokes would be so much easier if he were batman (or superman).
-
Might I also suggest changing the Marvel Movies Thread to "Here's a Raccoon with a Machine Gun!"?
-
DC should be like, "well then here's a chimp with a magnifying glass"
-
Ben Affleck is technically the first actor to play both Superman and Batman.
From the film Hollowoodland, Affleck portrayed George Reeves in that flick. haha, what about that.

Assuming DC is too scared to do a Wonder Woman movie but okay with a monkey movie
-
@ Affleck decision:
-
-
Wouldn't it be ironic if benny affleck took off his face and he was a skeleton. Thst would be cool and you fuckers would feel ashamed
-
Look up in Youtube - Hugh Jackman "Boy from Oz" and tell me if you would pick that actor for Wolverine
I would link it but currently at work and they block the Tube :(
Sometimes the less likely the actor the better the choice - of course it could also implode delishiously either way we'll have a movie to talk about.
-
@Purple:

"Assume nothing, expect Detective Chimp", as that old saying goes. :ninja:

Wait wait there's a detective chimp in DC's roster???
…Er anyways, I'm not exactly jumping with joy at the idea of Affeck playing Batman, but I'm eager to see his take. Hopefully less gravel voice.
-

Sure is. He was created in you know like the golden age or such…
Yes. Like that. But he's really cool now a days. Hanging out in a pocket-dimension-bar for magic super heroes… :P
You should read Shadowpact, awesome comic! :D -

You should read Shadowpact, awesome comic! :DI should, a talking chimp is one thing, a talking chimp that cracks cases is another. :D
-
I should, a talking chimp is one thing, a talking chimp that cracks cases is another. :D
If you like stuff like that, more on the silly side of things, you should watch the animated show "Batman: The Brave and the Bold" too! :)
EDIT: Yeah, I'm not even thinking about the stuff about that actor that you're all talking about that's scared me for life because of that film that has the letters "g", "i" and "l" in it. :cwy:
-
Detective Chimp also turned up in Batman: Brave & The Bold a couple of times…much like most of the DC Universe.
-
@The:
You might not think so, but I sure as heck do. Christian Bale is in my Top 5 most horrible actors/actresses, sits at about #2.
Have you seen The Fighter? What Christian Bale did in that role is magnificent.
I heard somewhere that Clooney keeps a pic of himself as Batman on the wall in his office as a reminder to stay away from shitty roles.
Heh, cool. I want him to do more comedy roles. Clooney's got that look and voice to do both serious and funny. I loved Burn After Reading. And oh, I forgot, he directed The Ides of March. I liked that one.
-
Christian Bale is fine actor and great Bruce Wayne.
Horrible Batman.
-
It's not that DC is really scared of doing a Wonder Woman flick, it's just that she's a hard character to crack and put on screen. Batman, Superman and Flash are relatively simple characters at their core concepts. Wondy is..many things. She doesn't have any really well known great stories and from what little I've seen I question if she has has any truly good ones. Wonder Woman is harder to bring a contemporary take on then even Superman. Really it would be smarter to actually introduce Wonder Woman in a trinity movie then spin her into a solo franchise. So in that way, that trinity flick can act as a popularity booster or promotion of that character to the mainstream. This way you can facilitate interest in her character enough to warrant a solo movie. Frankly, I can see why DC hasn't moved along with a Wondy movie at this point, the complicated nature of the character plus the lack of interest of her amongst the mainstream makes it a tough sell. Not to mention, her lack of well known or great villains. I'm not saying it can't be done, but it's harder to get done, most importantly get it done right.
