Got sick of Atlus/Sony/Whoever being so vague with Dragon's Crown's EU release and just ordered it from P-A. Apparently I'm to get an awesome looking book for it.

Oh shit guys, I just noticed something on that interactive PS4 viewer… the PS4 ONLY has an HDMI port, no analog port. Upon noticing that I googled and... yep, multiple sources are confirming that the PS4 will only output HDMI, and it seems the Xbox One is doing the same thing. So for those of you who still rock the CRT or have an older HDTV that only has component... no PS4 for you.
This is good; it means they might finally start including a damn HDMI cable in the box. And you can easily get an adapter for HDMI to DVI or even VGA, though you'd lose the audio stream without a special one that also splits off audio. But it still has optical audio as an option. Honestly if you're going to pay hundreds of dollars for a new console, get a TV or monitor made in the last decade.

I believe this is confirmed to be packed in with every ps4 console alongside a cheap headset.
-
I've read that a HDMI cable is indeed included
-
Yep. Every PS4 comes with an HDMI cable and a headset. But no PS Eye.

Saw some gameplay from the new Infamous game and it looks really cool. Had so much destruction and stuff. Never played the other Infamous games though. Do we know all the (exclusive) launch titles for the PS4 yet?

Killzone, driveclub and knack are launch titles. Infamous is q1 2014
-
That seems like a pretty weak launch lineup. Could have sworn that Sony was saying that it was going to be an amazing lineup.
-
I don't think Darth ever said it was the entire lineup, just what we know so far. There's also gonna be indie games I'm pretty sure. I believe The Witness is a launch title and it's exclusive to PS4 during the "launch window" at least.
-

I think it's pretty decent, how many launches have you experienced? Launch line ups are never stellar, just not terrible.
The best you can hope for is to have 1 title that you're interested in, in a launch line up.
We have a platformer, a racer and a shooter for day 1 that does cover the broadest of broad. Infamous is soonish after which is an open world action title which is also something should cover a big audience. And since foolio reminded me of the witness yeah probably also indie titles.
Still if history taught us anything then I don't expect anything great until at least 8 months in. Also probably a huge drought of bigger titles of probably 3-5 months somewhere along the line? From what I can perceive the mastery of pacing titles during the first year isn't something that exists. The witness would probably be the strongest argument for me now to get a ps4 but I usually just wait it out until a library of 4-6 games has been built.
I'd really love to have a good jrpg/rpg within the first year that would be great.
Dunno the best launch I had was the n64, played the heck out of mario 64 and with my poor skills as a youngster the game did last me a long time. But since sony has been doing such a good job with their policies I've thought about getting one earlier I really want to see them succeed with that strategy. Some really good jrpg/rpg console exclusives could make do it. But I don't think that there will be any.
Have a feeling the optimal time might be after persona 5 hits the ps3. When persona 4 hit the ps2 the ps3 had built a solid library.
-
Console launches have always sucked for a long time yeah.
For all the people who shat on Vita's release, I thought it had one of the better first years for stuff I actually wanted to play. 3DS rules now but it took a hella long time to get to where it is.
The last good console release from the perspective of a good variety of good games was like…. Before I was born???????? Never???? I don't know what stuff like Super Famicom came with but maybe it...?
-
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_video_game_console_launch_games I think personally gen 6 had the best launch titles as far as things I was around for. 3 good launch games is pretty decent and Gamecube had Luigi's Mansion, Super Monkey Ball, and assorted sports stuff (take your pick, WaveRace, Tony Hawk 3 etc, even Crazy Taxi if you can count it).
Then PS2 had SSX, Tekken Tag, and Timesplitters. Also of note is stuff like Dynasty Warriors 2.
-
I looked at some gameplay for Second Son. I never played the games since Infamous 1(I thought the whole time travel thing was tooooo dumb), but there's one thing that surprised me a little bit. Like the Killzone trailer(I didn't know it was until the title showed up), I was kinda surprised how much more colorful the game was. Aside that, the main character's powers does not impress me too much.
-
I thought the best launch lineups came back in the NES and SNES/Genesis generations, personally. The lists were small but there were some good titles in there. Of course, the tech was a lot less complicated and thus a lot easier for developers to master. With the 360 and PS3, developers are still learning to maximize the potential of the systems to this day, so the early games almost seem like they're from a different console in comparison.
That said, the PS4 launch lineup isn't impressively big yet, but the titles that are listed all look like good games (for their genres) which is the most important thing. Also the titles mentioned are only the exclusives and, as already stated, aren't including the indies. I'm sure the list will be filled out with third party stuff.
-
SNES had Super Mario World, and it didn't need anything else.
F-Zero, Pilotwings, Gradius and SimCity were all pretty good too.
-
Seems like PS4 is charging for online as well. Looks like I'm never playing online on it even if I do get one at some point.
Eh so long as it's cheap and stays that way and this doesn't carry over to any apps like Live does, I can deal.
-

Which is exactly what it is.
- $50 a year.
- Only affects online multiplayer, every other online app (and even some game features) and service is free.
- FREE GAMES.
- Discounts.
- FREE GAMES.
- 1-hour game trials.
- FREE. FUCKING. GAMES.
- Early access to demos/betas.
- FREE "QUALITY" GAMES.
PS+ is already worth every penny, this only affects people who don't like good deals. Granted I understand if you don't have the money to renew at a time and thus that'll cause you not to be able to enjoy a multiplayer, but PS+ is one of those great services that you want to renew as soon as you can. I literally have so many free games that I actually want to play from being on + that I could probably go a year without buying a new game, and that number increases each month. This service is everything Live should've been.
With Live you're paying for the privilage, with Plus you're paying for actual service.

Not to disagree because you're right but I want to add it also affects people that buy a lot of games one way or another.
I've had it happen a few times during + to have games added that I already have which can be a bit of a bummer.PS+ has improved though even if the big titles are already in your library they often add a smaller game for vita/ps3 as well.
-
How do these PS+ free games work? I assume there is a list of games available and you get to pick from the list 2 games each month? Man Normally I'm an exbox player but I'm seriously considering joining the blue side of the force. I just need to build a friends list.

Every months new games come to the service and every month games leave the service, once you've added a game to your library though it stays there and is usable as long as you have ps+.
Normally we get 2-3 big games and a couple of smaller ones. And then there is the instant collection which are set titles that don't change for a long time.
For vita they have been and are still gravity rush and golden abyss. -
If you buy a lot of games then you'll find its not so good. Discounts on stuff that is still more expensive than physical aint great either. Cloud Storage is a nice plus tho
-
Ps+ was totally worth it the last year.
the only games I already had were Darksiders, Re5 and now Uncharted 3.
The good thing is that Sony gave me games I always was curious about but wasn't willing to buy. Catherine or Binary Domain for example -
They gave Catherine for free? Kick ass. That's a damn good game.
I still can't believe they gave FFT for the PSP for free. That's seriously one of the best reasons to have a PSP.
-

Over there, yes. The US didn't get Catherine or Binary Domain.

Correct me if I'm wrong on this but with those "FREE QUALITY GAMES" you talk so highly about don't I have to keep my PS+ membership up to date in order to have the privilege to keep playing them? Also doesn't there to have to be have actual games I want or haven't already played or bought in order for me download the free version of it off PS+
-
And we didn't get FFT or anything for the PSP yet :/
-
Amazon has just revealed several PS4 bundles. You can get a PS4 and a copy of either Battlefield 4, Killzone, Knack, or Watch Dogs. Battlefield and Killzone come with a year of plus and they're $500, Knack and Watch Dogs is just the game and they're $450.
-
The one with Knack/Watchdogs is $460 – as far as I can tell, it's not cheaper or better than just buying the game and system separately.
-
As awesome as it would be to own a PS4 right away, I'll probably wait for Sony to iron out the inevitable first generation console problems, (like the 360's red ring of death being overly common with the first batch, and I can't remember what problems the first PS3s had, but there were some for sure.)
-
Only real issues of significance the first gen PS3's had were sucking up a lot of power and the YLOD usually brought on by the motherboard dying. Though it wasn't as rampant as a problem like the 360. It was worse in the sense that not backing up you're data beforehand meant that any saved data on your HD was lost.
-
Ah that's what it was with the early PS3s, thank you for reminding me. ^^
-
And we didn't get FFT or anything for the PSP yet :/
Yeah, really hoping they put up some more PSP titles on PLUS.
I'd love having FFT, Tactics Ogre, Jeanne D'arc or Megaman Powerup on the Vita. -
guess Vocaloid made it to the US with Hatsune Miku Project DIVA F
its sort of DDR only with buttons instead of foot controls -
BRICKING UPDATE ALERT!!!
The new mandatory PS3 firmware update that released today is bricking a large amount of PS3s. It seems it's mainly affecting PS3s which have had their hard drives swapped, particuarly ones above 500gb. It is advised not to install this update (thus you cannot play online, use any online services, or visit the ps store) and if you have PS+ to turn off automatic updates until Sony straightens this out.
-
I heard about this. Does this mean I can't play any games at all? I've been playing SH on it recently.
-

You can play games, just not any online components of them. If it requires an internet connection, you can't do it.
-
Sony's pulled the firmware from their website and nobody else is being told to update the firmware
-
good thing i havent updated yet.. thats all I need O.o
-
So sexy <3
-
I updated my PS3 last night before heading off to bed but I haven't encountered any issues thankfully.
-
Seems it only is affecting systems over 500gb and ones that have modified hard drives.
So… lots of people with voided warranties. Mine is just fine as well... but I want that shit off it. Freaks me out.
Sigh, my heart goes out to a LOT of customers out there. Sony really didn't need this atm. Last of Us JUST came out and they have been coasting on good hype since e3.
Buuut shit happens. Hopefully they can compensate, or ACTUALLY fix the problem. Seems that people are able to bring up safe mode. So all isn't lost yet for some folks.
-

Upgrading the hard drive doesn't void your warranty.
-
Yep. It's a feature for the PS3, PS4 as well. Also Sony says the error is the XMB not booting, so systems aren't exactly bricked.
-
So I just bought playstation plus and I can't believe I never invested in this before. All these free games have already made up for the cost.
-
-
Ok this some BS, I went to preorder(amazon that is) the BF4+Psplus launch day bundle and on checkout I got a huge tax(more than $41) plus shipping cost it all almost came to $600 which I immediately backed out, ain't no money saving on that deal.

Amazon charges tax in some places. As for shipping there should be Super Saver Shipping for that. Which is free shipping.

Indeed it's free shipping but the tax is just that too much, note: I don't think it's the final tax because it says "Estimated tax to be collected" so final tax may be lower.

So turns out that $300 Grand Theft Auto 5 PS3 bundle DOESN'T come with the Pulse headset, the box is merely branded with an ad for them. They're sold seperately for $179. Not a good deal anymore.
