@Porcelainpot:
I've seen parts of the manga, and an issue I have is that it's REALLY hard to differentiate characters.
Within the first few chapters, the first few volumes, I can see this as a valid response. However, The manga is 10 volumes long, and I assure you that the art DOES get substantially better later on, and characters are all properly fleshed out. I don't need the anime to help me differentiate between the main cast/side cast. ALL manga artists, at beginning of their careers, start out with not-so-great artwork, but gain long-term improvement over a long-term series like this one. It's a natural thing called progress and experience. Compare One Piece chapter 1 and One Piece chapter 709, for example.
@Porcelainpot:
Anyway, with how well-done the anime is, I see no problem in watching it then reading the manga once it ends, do you?
The anime (which will probably hold to the standard 13-episodes per season format) cannot hope to cover 45 chapters worth of content in it's first season alone. Aside from that, as I point out earlier, this IS an anime being televised/broadcasted to a broader audience then the manga, so naturally there are going to be creative differences between the anime and the manga like Daz's excellent observation, for example:
@The:
After skimming through the first episodes…
Was there any actual shots of titans killing people? I didn't see any. An entire series worth of cutting away as the Titans go CHOMP is going to get old fast
@Aaronrules380:
At the very least they showed the Titan chomping on Eren's mom
Nah, not really.
Jaws closing, closing, closing - OFFSCREEN CHOMP + BLOOD SPLATTER, no characters or anatomy visible
One of the most bone chillingly terrifying and effective things about SNK are the shots of Titans putting still struggling humans in their jaws. I really hope the anime isn't going to go the "humans pulled towards mouth- fade to black" route all the time.
You're going to be missing out on a lot if you're just an Anime-only watcher.
