Yep, that is the episode Garp shows up I believe. Can't wait to see that dubbed, guessing we won't be seeing it till 2014 though? :/
Hopefully by then they will have had season 6 fully dubbed,if that leak is to be believed.

@Galaxy:
Nah, the manga made it seem like the voices actually switched. Didn't you notice how every time somebody talked, the actual person talking would appear above them?
The masks were just for comedy and to help the reader.
Or they were there to show who the person inside the body is ?_?
If anything, the only indication we had that Oda intended to have the voices switched is this scene:

Thanks for the news! Sorry MasterKing made it seem insubstantial. Great to hear Coby is back.

I hope Leah does a commentary for that set. I'd love to hear what she thinks about Coby's growth spurt. And thanks for posting gyrados, always great to hear where the dub is even though it's always super far ahead of us.
He was a filler character from the Post-Enies Lobby arc.
Did you really forget, Shift? You had a Mii made of him and everything. I thought you were a fan!
Oh, lookie. 100 pages already.
I wonder when they'll release the trailer for Season 5. Let's hope it'll be some time next month.
I'm more looking forward to the cover art. I mean, I really doubt any new voices will be in the trailer, so…

Plenty of pretty great moments on this boxset. Love sanji saying "but now that you told me how she really feels... I wouldn't stop even if you begged me!" Pretty awesome, Sanji. This dub is amazing. And Franky's voice is probably my favorite. Along with Luffy's. Makes me like the character more, though Franky has more personality in these episodes than later.

I never made a Mii of the Funi editor in that chair.
A little off topic, but it appears that the Russian dub is fearlessly continuing to dub their openings and closings. They just released ending 3 today.
Also new episodes start on the 14th.
I also think this is better than the FUNi version. Don't get me wrong. I liked the FUNi version as well, but I feel like this version matches the original high notes a bit better.
Speaking of Leah, I really can't wait to hear what her take on the new Coby is.
Girlfriend figured it out!
Behind this mask and binding~
I'm half way through the set and so far it's been great, really enjoying these episodes again the second time around. Wanze is hilarious and Sonny's Sogeking is awesome just the way i imagined him sounding.
Safe to assume we'll have the cover art in a week?

You guys know how I love to rewatch the sets, but Wanze and giant waves stop this one from being easily rewatchable. I'm only on the second episode of disc two. Trying to ration out the last four episodes to at least get me a month away from the next set. I'll probably be rewatching Water Seven this summer.
Mask and binding isn't a great translation, but it is better than what you guys thought it was.
I thought it was "mask and my cape", oh wells. Also, if these are legit: http://www.kanzenshuu.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=16&t=23356 , http://www.kanzenshuu.com/forum/view…3031&start=220 Hopefully we'll find out if Toei is not letting FUNimation dub any more songs or if it that was just the case with One Piece.__
Bit lost. Can you explain to me how the Buu Saga has to do with dubbed songs? I'm missing something.

Because we'll get to find out if FUNi gets to dub the opening for the Buu saga. If not, then we'll know it's something they're doing for all their shows.
Eh, I dunno. I have a feeling Dragon Soul will still be the opening theme. However, I have no idea about the ending…
But my point is Bon Voyage was already dubbed, and was still dubbed in episode 206 which was on S4V1 that had the remainding episodes' opening left in Japanese. Dragon Soul is dubbed so they might keep it, given they'll still use the song.
Well yeah, most likely Dragon Soul will be kept as is, but there should be a new ending. That's what Sam's referring to I think.

where was dragon soul used in one piece. I DO NOT REMEMBER THAT OPENING or it was was an ending.
Aaaand now it's just getting a whee bit annoying.

They're talking about the fate of future Kai OP/ED's because whether or not they're dubbed may set a precedent for not only One Piece but also for dub songs for all FUNi's future products, or at least as far as Toei series are concerned.
i hope they will put english songs on again. the best that they was OPENING 3 - HIKARI E
Yeah it's a real shame. I was one of those people saying to just leave in the Japanese OP/EDs back when they first started dubbing, but now that they've went and dubbed all these songs (some of which I liked a lot) it really sucks from a consistency standpoint. (guess they should have just used Japanese from the beginning) They even went and dubbed the movie 8 ED when they re-released it on Blu-Ray–going out of their way to make it fit in with all their other stuff and now that's all for naught. And then if they start dubbing them again in the future it will be even more awkward, so I dunno. I have been wanting to hear a couple of the upcoming OP's dubbed though.
Wow, this thread is already at 2000+ posts. A lot of which was probably us freaking out wondering why voyage three was taking forever to ship out XD
Anyways, I just got finished watching the extras on voyage 5. I hope they keep doing things like this for all future releases, I'm definitely a fan of them.
I was just wondering, would anyone happen to know where the exact thread and post we found out one piece was getting a 4th season for the dub. I just wanna relieve that joy.
Here you go.
I specifically remembered it being really close to page 300.
…and then season five. That was on July 28th. My birthday. Along with SW.

Good times. Seems like it's been smooth sailing since then.
Pun definitely not intended.
They still have the Ice Hunter Arc, don't forget!
Oh god, I really was trying to forget that arc…

Thx. Ah, I remember jumping out my chair with joy on that occasion.
Aw, the video I posted of the foaming mouth guy from Avatar got taken down :( That was still such a fun day though. And sorry for the confusion, I was trying to see if the final arc of Dragon Ball Kai would bring a new ending (or maybe opening too) that FUNimation may or may not be able to dub, as Maron so nicely cleared up. Also FUNimation updated their website with releases from now until the beginning of August, so it shouldn't be too much longer until we get trailers/cover art for those titles.
REALLY loved what Funi did with season 4, Can't wait to see S5V1 in july .
For future seasons after 5, realistically there is no way funimation can dub all of one piece. It'd be great but I don't know how plausible it is for Funi to dub 500+ soon to be 600 episodes(with no end in sight). Personally my hope for Funi's dub of OP is to atleast get to ep# 516 right before the time skip. And if they are able to go past that, Great.
What do you guys think? :ninja:
ps:Loved Franky, Paulie, Lucci, Kaku, Kokoro and Iceburg (as well as the usual suspects)

Not really. They'll just finish a few years after the Japanese run if they keep releasing without another Season 4 delay.

It all depends on how successful the franchise is over here. They've been dubbing Dragon Ball and putting out new DVDs for over a decade. So far, it seems One Piece has been doing just well enough to get by. I think FUNimation is determined to keep One Piece alive in the U.S for as long as they possibly can.
That's why its success on Toonami is so important. The show's current fan base probably won't sustain the series for another ten years in the U.S–it needs more viewers. But it doesn't need to rake in the success that Naruto or Dragon Ball has. If One Piece can just stay on TV--and continue to be relevant, like Bleach for example, then FUNi can continue to dub it. One Piece has stayed in the U.S Shonen Jump since 2003 and FUNi's been dishing out the DVDs for 5 years so they must be doing something right. Bleach is a long-running series that doesn't get crazy ratings over here but it's still relevant enough that VIZ keeps dubbing new episodes. Adult Swim's been airing the same FullMetal Alchemist episodes the last ten years, and whenever new stuff comes out (ie; Brotherhood) FUNi dubs it.
So One Piece won't need massive success to survive the long haul in the U.S--it just needs to not fall into obscurity. Toonami's resurgence may be the best thing that's ever happened to the show. The way Adult Swim's anime block has been rebranded has made it the perfect avenue for One Piece whereas before no one ever thought a show like OP would make sense on it.
While I might not blindly believe FUNi will still be dubbing the last episodes of One Piece ten years from now, it is possible that they will and I'll continue to be cautiously optimistic.

I concur, I know i'll be supporting OP/Funi on Toonami. Hopefully the Toonami run will help them expedite on obtaining further seasons as well :swanson:
As long as people keep talking with their wallets, funi's future with one piece will always be secure. Don't just stop with only watching the broadcast, check the simulcast for the latest episodes, buy the DVDs etc.
I see people are assuming the worst again….
Jeez guys we've already been told that the voyages sell well and that the collections sell very well. With toonami now airing one piece and giving it the much needed television exposure it so rightfully deserves the show is just going to grow and grow. We're past the dark 4kids days now and the show is just starting to cast off that grim shadow , so as long as people continue to support the series( i see no reason why they shouldn't) , and if funimation market it properly then they have the next dragonball on their hands and the show will not only be completed but still be selling extrememly well years after it's ended.
Continue to support it and have faith!
^ We all have faith in it, but we do have to be a bit realistic. Besides Pokemon and the Dragon Ball franchise, there's never been an anime with over 600+ episodes dubbed into English, and there's never been one that's had over 900-1000+ episodes (which One Piece will probably end up having before it's over). It would be unprecedented.
Nothing lasts forever, but we can sure trying to keep it afloat as long as we can!

That's probably because there aren't that many series that have that many episodes.. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_anime_series_by_episode_count Not to mention that some of those are also obscure.

True, but there are a ton of long running animes out there that have incomplete dubs. The only way I see us reaching that final episode is if Funimation dubs hundreds of episodes per year (like the French dub) until we're caught up, which is unlikely. But we'll see eventually won't we.
They don't have to dub that much per year to get it finished. Why should we even worry about whether they get to the final episode at this point? There's no point.
They don't have to dub a hundred episodes a year or anything. If FUNimation ever finishes dubbing One Piece, it will at least be a few years after the final episode airs in Japan. Nothing wrong with that. I'm happy with 50 episodes a year, really. At least that way we're getting about as many episodes put out per year as Japan. It'll be cool if the dub on Toonami eventually goes past where the DVDs are now–then we'll be tuning in to Toonami to see the new dub episodes instead of just rewatching what we already saw on the DVDs.

Just saying it would be a shame for the dub to be cancelled after so many episodes. You're right, there's no point in worrying about it now. It is food for thought though. I like to think I'll someday own the whole series on DVD dubbed and subbed. Like I said; I don't think One Piece will have to be the next DBZ to stay alive in the U.S–it just needs to stay relevant and sell well enough to continue like Bleach or FullMetal Alchemist, which have stayed on Adult Swim for years. But I think it is a valid question to consider whether we'll ever get to that point--no one's being all gloom and doom about it now but we are talking about the show over the course of the next, like, ten years.

Hit the nail on the head. That's exactly what I was talking about. A lot can happen in 10 years and companies come and go (who would have thought ADV and Bandai would go out of business 10 or even 5 years ago?) so that's why I think that the closer we are to the current Japanese episodes, the better chance Funimation will have of dubbing the entire series.
Well ADV and Bandai closed because they made stupid business decisions and kept buying a lot of niche anime that nobody would buy, losing them a lot of cash in the process.
With Funimation, they're the more careful and reserved company, and I think a lot of that is because they understand how niche the industry is in the states and lower their standards for sales figures, as well as keeping their dubs at fairly high quality, this, I feel, allows them to make more of a profit over time. That's not even including their efforts to expose their shows through outlets like Itunes, Hulu, Neon Alley, and Netflix has certainly helped them stay relevant with their shows. (The cheap collection sets don't hurt either.)
Now in the case of One Piece, Funimation is drawing a significant enough profit for the show to continue to be dubbed in spite of its daring episode number. The fact that they've already surpassed the number of episodes dubbed vs a show like Case Closed/Detective Conan is a good sign that DVD sales were actually able to hold up. This along with the fact that One Piece's audience is growing, is keeping the show afloat.
So I think it's safe to say that if Funimation keeps up this fairly safe method of dubbing, they'll still keep the show afloat for the next ten years… that is to say if the audience remains interested. Now how long will the larger part of the audience stick around, not even I know.
As long as FUNimation continues to exist and One piece retains or grows in popularity, we'll be fine. I'm not worried about it.
Water 7 was the arc I was dying for. We've gotten most of it. After Enies Lobby, I won't be quite as disappointed as I would've been had it been dropped before season four.

I suspect I'll still be buying One Piece when I'm thirty five. Seems like the series won't end for at least another 15 years.
Not sure if anyone came to this conclusion yet, but in the Sniper King song, the lyrics are "Behind this Mask and My Name"
Impel Down was mentioned for the first time in this set. Of course, Nami's pronunciation sounded strange to hear in English, but it was probably correct. I seem to make up strange ways of pronouncing words I've never heard before.

I do the same, I did that for a lot of these CP9 characters because I never heard them in English before.
