Did you guys loved it seeing 3 of your favorite anime heroes interacting with each other?
Makes sense, oh well I hope I can find a RAW source
I'll probably post it when it's out.
Anyways
Goku went SSj3 and there isnt mass murders or blowing up planets involved? How?
Makes sense, oh well I hope I can find a RAW source
Will this do?
This was the first time I watched a live stream of an anime airing in Japan and man was it awesome seeing some of the commercials.
! This has got to be one of the most amusing i've seen so far:
It was pretty cool seeing Luffy and Goku team up and fight that tentacle monster. Would've been cooler having Luffy fight some villains from Dragon Ball and Goku fight OP villains and vice-versa, although since its just one of those specials I'll let it slide. Can't wait to see it subbed.
yes it'll do, Thanks a lot to the both of you :)
is there a raw of the toriko side streaming?
@Yuki:

That's what that is.
Assuming I'm allowed to ask, where would be the best place to find an HD, subbed version of the crossover? And when would it come out?

Anime-Destiny did the past two, so I'd assume them.
Probably in about a week.
If I have one complaint, it's that we only got Mr Satan antics when we should have had him team up with Buggy and Zonge :ninja:

I would have loved to see that. He didn't need any help when he won the four-way match, though.

I really hope this special doesn't hurt the anime's quality.

Yeah, especially since when you consider they clearly ran out of budget at the very end and resorted to a bunch of still shots
Didn't the cost of the special come out of Toriko's budget?
Yeah, especially since when you consider they clearly ran out of budget at the very end and resorted to a bunch of still shots
I believe they also reused an earlier scene and just recolored Vegeta's ki blasts to purple.
Didn't the cost of the special come out of Toriko's budget?
The Toriko half and the One Piece half were produced by different groups of workers.
Well the special was great even though I didn't know what they were saying, but it was pretty fun though the villain was kinda meeh
Well the special was great even though I didn't know what they were saying, but it was pretty fun though the villain was kinda meeh
Well, we all know by now that Toei is pretty bad at coming up with filler villains.
Uuh, hm, whatever.
I've yet to actually see this and I don't care to. Dragonball is fine, but Toriko can go suck cottage cheese through an IV line. Only good thing about these crossovers is they serve to let the manga run further ahead. I'll be sure to watch it when I land in a full body cast and have nothing else to do while in the hospital.
Incidentally, I found out I won't be able to watch the new opening next week on time cause I have to work. I get out right as the anime stream will be ending.
Know what I have to say to that?
Does anyone have the project vs J commercial?
@Miss:

Have you even read Toriko? :|
I can understand if the hate is only for the anime though.
I thought both special episodes were pretty shitty. I didn't expect much from the start, but this ended up being even worse than the previous Toriko specials, and that's pretty hard to do.
I know people are excited to see Dragonball characters. I don't really give a damn since I have no real attachment to Dragonball, though I will be watching it at some point since One Piece is inspired from it. My true issue with both episodes is just how incredibly forced everything is. First, we start off at the race with no real explanation as to how the hell they all got there. The least we could do is see Luffy and crew sailing in from the Sunny.
The race itself was pretty bad. There were a few funny moments with Brook's usual antics and the old man ogling Nami's tits. I don't know that guy's name, but I know he's a well-liked Dragonball character and he does mix well with Brook. Zoro's scene with Vegeta and Zebra was pretty nice I suppose. Franky's usual pervert/weirdo joke was funny for me, but that's only because I actually have attachment to Franky as a character. Other than that, though, 90% of the fights and interactions between characters were so forced it made me cringe a bit. I understand that the point of a collaboration special is to show interactions, but trying to cram it all down our throats in 40 minutes just doesn't feel right.
What we get here is Toei basically dedicating a minute or so to every single character from each franchise to make sure the audience gets it: Character A, B, and C have such-and-such gag/quirk and would make a good comedic pair. Character D, E, and F are brute strong and like to fight, so fight they will. Etc, etc, the list goes on.
The power scheme is also ridiculously screwy here, but that's to be expected when you take three different universes and clash them together randomly. I love Luffy and he's a beast, and I'll give Toriko credit for being on Luffy's level even if his character is pretty boring to be, but do you guys really buy that they'd stand a chance against Goku in Super Saiyan form? As said, I still haven't watched Dragonball, but isn't Goku supposed to be capable of destroying entire planets with that kind of power? As cool as it was to see Kamehameha clash against Elephant Gun and whatever Toriko's attack was (which seemed similar to Luffy's Gatling), I just don't buy them being on even terms. If I'm wrong about Goku's power scale, though, correct me. I know there's several levels of Super Saiyan, right?
Onto the other issues here, half the characters literally did nothing. I was especially disappointed to seeing Nami, Robin, Usopp, and Brook do nothing but run or even just sit in the sidelines making random comments here and there. Even Franky and Chopper hardly did anything all that impressive other than scream in our faces: THIS IS MY GAG, I AM HILARIOUS! That's yet another reason why you can't take three franchises with such large casts and try to throw them all into a 40 minute special. It's messy and it doesn't feel good at all in my opinion.
Lastly, the "villain of the week" was even worse than the seahorse from the One Piece Ocean Dream filler. It's supposed to be a legendary Toriko monster or whatever, but they hyped it up way too damn much. Goku and Toriko aside, in canon material Luffy took a kraken down with one Elephant Gun. One hit, not in Gear Second or anything. He also tamed said kraken with his Haki. Even that aside, you're telling me that it took the ULTIMATE ATTACKS of Luffy, Toriko, and even a Super Saiyan ultimate special attack from Goku to take this stupid ass thing down? Really? And they were out of breath and beaten in the end?
Yeah, okay, Toei. I can suspend my disbelief a bit, but this is ridiculous.
On a side note, I'm curious as to what Mr. Satan's role is in Dragonball. He was kind of like a Buggy here in terms of being weak yet having such a reputation and followers.
Well, it was meh overall. It would be nice to get these specials as extras on the FUNi DVDs though, just to hear some of the dub voices from all three series. But other than that, I'm ready for the new opening and the rest of the Punk Hazard arc. Hopefully with no more interruptions after this.
For Toriko, I just find most of the characters to be pretty boring. I'm not hating, honestly. I've even tried reading some of the latest chapters in Weekly Shonen Jump, but it just doesn't grab my interest. Most of the character designs just don't work for me, and I just can't get into the plot. I'll keep giving it a few more chances to see if it changes my mind.
I'll also just say that most of the Japanese Dragonball voices are pretty annoying to me. Especially Goku's. Obviously Piccolo and Krillin are exceptions, seeing as who they are voices by. Well, Vegeta was fine, but the kid characters in this just don't sound good to me.
On a side note, I'm curious as to what Mr. Satan's role is in Dragonball. He was kind of like a Buggy here in terms of being weak yet having such a reputation and followers.
If you want spoilers.
! He's almost exactly like Buggy in the sense that people start praising him for stuff he hasn't done. He gets a city named after him for "defeating" Cell, but all he did was lie after Gohan and Goku did all the work. He's not very strong, but is hilarious just as Buggy is.
I guess no one's seen it online then-

There's a torrent out for it. That's how I saw it.
I don't think we can post torrents here, but I'll mention it this once since FUNi isn't streaming this special. I don't think I can post the link here, but maybe I can send the links through PMs.

That's the sense I got from him. I'd like to see the two together, haha. I did think it was amusing how he won the tournament. But is he a good guy or a bad guy? I thought he was a bad guy for some reason, but he was kind enough to share the prize food with everyone.
Another note here. I don't mind spoilers since half of Dragonball's plot is already spoiled for me. So Trunks is a cyborg, right? I know he has his own arc. His interaction with Franky was amusing, to say the least. But what exactly is Majin buu's power to make cola appear randomly like that? And those two twins that fused together… the ones Chopper freaked out about... what's their ability?
As for Gohan, I'm assuming he was incredibly nerfed here as well as his dad. Would he really get taken out by that blowfish? Franky is one thing because he's a dumbass goofball, but it just felt way too convenient.
And for Toriko fans, I'm still giving the series a chance, so don't take my comments to heart. Let me ask you this then. Is there a specific Toriko arc you'd recommend reading that's essentially the Arlong Park for Toriko? I sort of jumped into the manga in the middle of the latest Gourmet Corp invasion arc or whatever is going on with no attachment to Toriko or his friends, and I have no clue what's going on other than a bunch of random fights. Maybe I'll try reading a specific arc to see if it can grab my attention.
Mr. Satan (Hercule/Mark) is a good guy.
Trunks is not a cyborg.
Majin Buu's power is magic (so whatever he wants, basically).
Goten & Trunks' (the kids') technique was Fusion (merging together into one person, improving their strength and whatnot greatly).
Oh, and Gohan would not get taken out by a blowfish (LOL).

I think the Ice Hell Arc would be the best just to see how good Toriko can get. It's main villain is awesome.
Also, speaking of power scales:
Luffy is actually probably the weakest of the three protagonists here realistically speaking, lol. Toriko can destroy a whole mountain with one of his attacks and I think I don't have to talk about Son Goku…

I think torrent links are allowed when there isn't a FUNi stream (Saw them on the 542 special), and on EOL and EON.
! Nah, he's not really a bad guy. He's just a weakling that joins the Cell Games with Goku and Gohan. He's sort of an ally later I'd say.
! Trunks is a human/saiyan
! Yeah.. Goku and Gohan wouldn't get defeated by something like that.
! As for Toriko, I'd say Century Soup (or Ice Hell) is the Arlong Park of it.

Is the Century Soup arc the same as the ice Hell arc? How far into the series is it? Could I go into it without knowing much about the series without getting completely lost?
I'll go ahead and post the torrent links. The mods can remove them if they need to.

Yeah. The wiki uses the ingredients for the arc names, rather than the places, but either one works.
I remember them mentioning a few things from the past few arcs, but nothing really connects them. Most of the stuff before is the introductory arcs, and just introduces some of the characters you'll see throughout the series.

I'm a huge fanatic of all three series so I loved this special. My only complaint is that in order to make the Strawhats not look as weak(comparatively speaking) as they are, they used outdated versions of Toriko's Heavenly Kings and gimped the Dragon Ball crew down to laughable levels. I can't say I didn't expect that from this crossover given the massive power discrepancy that separates the respective universes, so I didn't let it bother me too much. I was able to look past it and enjoy it for what it was, fan service. In my opinion the animation was splendid; the character interactions comedic, and the combat scenes were epic. There really isn't much to complain about if you're a fan of all three series.
I'll definitely watch it again after it gets subbed.

Hmm, I wonder where I have heard that before. xD
You should at least give it a fair shot. Nobody writes fights or worlds builds quite as good as Shimabukuro does. Now I'm not the authority on what is and isn't a quality Shounen, but lately, I find myself looking more forward to Toriko than I do One Piece. 90% sure you'll fall in love it by the time you start getting into the meat and potatoes of the plot!

I wish to see the next crossover with a team with Mr. Satan, Buggy and Zonge
Buggy and Mr.Satan don't deserve to breathe same air as Zonge-sama, let alone star alongside him! They would only hold him back.

^This is what happens when people forget some things are made just for fun and not supposed to be taken seriously.
Agreed. Yeah, it was kind of dumb and of course they toned down the dbz cast. But it was still a fun episode if you put aside all that power level wankery and just enjoyed it for what it was. And as for the villain, I can accept that by the end it was that powerful because it was clearly absorbing energy from the good guys. Hell, after it caught Gohan by surprise (which is kind of dumb, but whatever, not a big deal) it should have been a complete monster given Gohan's strength in the DBZ verse
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Also, I think you could make arguements that Toriko was scaled down to be equal to Luffy, when he should probably be stronger than him given the difference in scale between One Piece and Toriko, though I guess if we're using anime TOriko and not where he is in the manga you'd have a slightly better case
@Monkey:
^This is what happens when people forget some things are made just for fun and not supposed to be taken seriously.
Because it's not justified to criticize a subject, and for another person to have a differing opinion from you. Not at all possible.

Because it's not justified to criticize a subject, and for another person to have a differing opinion from you. Not at all possible.
It has less to do with the fact that someone is criticizing it, and more to do with how and why they're criticizing it. It's fine to dislike something, but the reasons they gave seem to indicate they were taking this thing way to seriously, rather than treating it as what it was clearly meant to be: A fun crossover with 3 popular series made to appeal to fans of the 3 series. And honestly, I don't think he remembers how horrendously bad last years one was at the very least, because I just don't see how this could be worse. Although I guess the issue seems to stem from the fact that he seems to dislike or at least be apathetic towards two of the three series. Why are you even bothering to watch this if you know you have no attachment for Dragonball or Toriko? It clearly isn't made with you in mind, and the way you talked it's pretty clear you weren't going to enjoy this no matter how good they made it.
The villain monster guy thing was absorbing Ki and growing stronger, that's why he kept taking forever to defeat.
Anyway, the special was nothing special aside from Shida Naotoshi's cuts. Nozawa kind of half-assed her way through the special (although that's no surprise considering her age and schedule as of late). Kusao Takeshi amazes me, though. The man is nearly fifty and still trying to do child Trunks. That's got to hurt.
Regarding Mister Satan: he's pretty much exactly what Buggy is based on, just funnier. Well, when he was voiced by Gouri Daisuke, at least.
@Monkey:
Goku got nerfed.
I haven't seen this (or the other two animated crossovers for that matter, even though I do follow Toriko, there are certain factors keeping me from following the Toriko anime on a regular basis anyway) but what did you expect ? Dragonball (Z) has one of the most ridiculously overpowered characters in all of fiction that could literaly take down every single character you could throw at them.
If that didn't happen you'd end up with a pretty short and boring episode with the characters from the other series standing around because everything was already over and they had nothing left to do.
@400MillionBelis:
Because it's not justified to criticize a subject, and for another person to have a differing opinion from you. Not at all possible.
Because a crossover between 3 different series with completely different logic that was clearly NOT going to make much sense logically and story-wise should be critized on the basis of logic and plot right?
So is there any HD raws out yet?I dont see any in nyaatorrents.
