When Nami first met Luffy, she was running from some guys (Buggy's crew) when she came across Luffy, she used him similar to how Violet is using Sanji. 1- Girl uses guy as diversion to get away from persuers. With Luffy, Nami called him "Boss", thus getting the people chasing to (attempt) harrass him, letting her get away. With Violet, she pretended that she was a couple with Sanji in the Couple's alley, thus the people chasing her ran by, letting her get away. 2. Girl then tries to use guy in some plot. With Luffy, Nami first suggests they team up (when she didnt' know he was a pirate) so they can rob pirates. With Sanji, Violet wants to use him in some plot to against some other man. Not much is known except her first idea is to kill a man for her. Not saying that she will become namaka, but I can see similarities there

Is there a reason the Marines haven't come down full force on Dressrosa to hunt down Doflamingo? They know he's there, and he's a notoriously dangerous bounty for them now. Granted I understand it's only been one day since his Warlord resignation, but I would think the atmosphere around the town and around the Donquixote Family would be different.
Also, these townspeople are leaderless now. Why has it not sunk in for them yet? Why does the Family still have so much sway and say over them still? It's like Law's plan had absolutely no point at all other than to create short-term tension. -
Seems like i missed a lot of things, wasn´t expecting the thread to turn into a debate of Turkish - Greek relations but hey, at least it was fun to read. Wasn´t really a good debate though considering that it would require at least two equally educated parties but that was obviously not the case. I would like to say Kenji´s "opinions" are extreme but unfortunately, they are not in Turkey but it still is not representative of the population, at least not to this degree.

That's why I don't think Violet would join, but just acknowledges that there was similarities between her and Nami. I just forgot to say "Its a good storytelling plot" :happy: Thanks for saying it. And who's more convenient than a guy that's strong and easy to mislead?
Nami was able to do so due to Luffy -well being himself. Violet is hoping to use Sanji because she saw his reactions to her when she was dancing. -

Sakazuki made the decision to send Fujitora in by himself for a day to gather intel and whatever else he wants to do before putting together an actual military operation. This seems entirely reasonable to me, so I don't really see what the problem is with the Marines not taking action yet.
The townspeople seem more carefree than you'd expect, but since it's been questioned in the manga it will probably be answered in the manga as well. At the very least, they probably don't feel like they personally have anything to fear from either side.

To those of you who've been asking me for my chapter reviews, my apologies for not doing them recently (and not responding to the requests too, no offense intended). I've never thought they were all that special, rather just large thought dumps, but I'll try to get back to it, starting now.

Cool color spread. Oda must be getting back into his comfort zone since he didn't include the entire crew. I love how Brook is being used as a clothesline.

We got the simple and logical answer for what happens to DF's after the user dies. It almost felt like it wasn't even worth mentioning, but it was still needed. And now we can go back to not caring anyway since death is so rare in this series.

I wasn't completely sold on the idea that Luffy would care that much about Ace's fruit, but in hindsight I should have known better. It elicits emotions from the reader, so it's only natural that Luffy would reinforce those. I'm surprised there isn't a little variation in his thinking to what Dofla expected, though. The guy managed to anticipate Luffy's thought process perfectly. I saw that mera thread was like 90 pages, which confirms that the fate of Ace's fruit is a huge topic of debate around here lately. Before this chapter, I had guessed that Luffy would wind up with the fruit and carry it around like Shanks did with the rubber one. But him asking Franky to eat it in this chapter really makes that seem a lot less likely. It seems like he'd be happy if anyone in his crew ate it, and it's hard to imagine all of them refusing. Nami especially doesn't seem like the type who'd give up a chance to be immune to most injuries, and Usopp to a lesser degree as well. But one of them getting it doesn't seem right at all. I also can't imagine it getting wasted on someone's weapon, like Zoro's "fire sword" or Usopp's Kabuto. So I guess I'm of the opinion that someone who isn't in the crew will eat it in this arc with Luffy's blessing.

I'm really liking the way Franky was handled in this chapter. Simple dialog that's not about cola or robots, well analyzed and logical, and still thoughtful to Luffy's feelings. Well, Franky never struck me as the type who'd avoid a trap anyway.

On the Zoro/Sanji/Kinemon side we have Kinemon completely vanishing for the entire chapter for some reason. I hope he got lost or something, because it'll feel like a small mistake if he's back with Zoro next chapter like nothing happened. No real updates with Zoro, who just keeps on chasing. Major plot development with Sanji, though. I don't really mind the whole nosebleed bit as long as it's not a threat to his life, because he's always been putty to a pretty girl flirting with him. Rather, I'm completely fascinated by this development. It's hard to get a definite read on Violet, but she has all the makings of a vixen. I really hope that's the case, because it would really test Sanji's values and could give him some much needed development in that area. I can't help but feel that Oda will take the easy way out on this, though. Making Violet a good person, deep down, who's stuck in a bad situation and having Sanji solve her problems in a better way than she had even imagined. But if that's the case, I at least hope Sanji doesn't do things the way she wants him to. He'll also probably need to get stabbed a couple times. Either way, she's going to be very important.

I almost didn't expect Luffy to reach the colosseum so easily and on time, but he did (thanks Franky!). I was also curious on whether or not Franky would participate (and likely surrender when he eventually had to fight Luffy), but that ship has sailed, thankfully. He's much better suited to work behind the scenes on this one while Luffy acts as the front stage distraction. I'm hoping that while Luffy competes, Franky can gather the intel and maybe even bust up whatever trap may have been set up for Luffy. I'm crossing my fingers for him fighting with the seat of spades or something behind the scenes to pull all this off. And with this, the 4 monsters in charge of destroying the factory are now all operating individually. This is probably how their total domination of Dressrosa begins, as they'll luckily wind up hitting it from all angles.

The one legged toy soldier is awesome, but the fact that he was compared to Diamante doesn't bode particularly well for… Diamante. He's probably going to be really important, but I have no idea how. At the very least, I really want to know what his crime is. He seems very polite and all.

Lucy. Hahahaha wow. That's gotta be the best gag since the timeskip. I died laughing. He couldn't have come up for a worse ending to the name if he tried. And then seeing Luffy destroy one of the strongest fodder guys with the Roshi beard gave me a huge smile. I feel like this tournament should introduce another major contender. Luffy and the Donquixote guys don't seem like enough for Oda. The tournament will really need another wild card or two that are actually participating. Of course, it has Franky, the old blind guy who seems to be Fujitora, the toy soldier, and possibly Dofla's other seats acting as wild cards who aren't participating, so the usual array of characters is there. Still though, the tournament itself could use a wider array as well, and I expect that it will. And the question isn't if Luffy's identity will be revealed, but when. My bet is on 2-3 chapters from now (that actually have tournament content).
Bout mutha fletchin time! I too was in the boat that thought Luffy wouldn't care much for the fruit but thinking about it now,the way he is acting is perfectly logical. I found it very interesting that he asked Franky about it immediately without thought to the other crew. That complete disregard for a potential sit down with the whole crew discussing who to give it to leads me to believe no one in the crew is getting it. Of course a round table discussion is still bound to happen and I think it will lead to some very nice insight especially from Nami and Usopp, but no way they are eating it. Usopp and Nami both establish that normal human balance in the crew and I just can't see Oda going back on that. I could see Luffy being happy with Coby or even Vivi eating it. As far as people that Luffy likes meeting up with him sooner rather than later they are the only 2 that come to mind. Of course there is always the new and unknown.
While I certainly expected Violet to bring in a other element to the story that will tie in to the bigger picture, I didn't see it as time for Sanji development. But yeah it's there and I hope to Oda we get something substantial. How nice would it be if he got a flash back of something Zeff taught him? I know, way too much to hope for…

Sanji eating that df is something that wont happen imo but that doesnt change the 50/50 possibility. Personal preference cant influence the possibility unless you are Oda
I don't think that's how possibilities work.. Yes, he either is or not, but the percentage can't be 50 because the same can be said for every other character in One Piece that is revealed and isn't. It doesn't even make sense to talk about percentages.

There something that bothers me. Luffy ask Franky if he wants to eat the DF (and he declined) and this imply that if he gets the DF he will ask all of his crew who wants to eat it so the remaining members would be Zoro and I think he will declined aswell and Nami too IMO. So remains Usopp that I really really dont immagine him with that DF entering the fight like a badass guy shooting fire all around and Sanji the last one whom I think will decline too but don't know why just have this feeling that nobody from the SH will eat it but who's gonna eat it or who will take/steal it (if something goes wrong)??? What do you think guys???

Oda is stylizing his characters way too much in the last couple of years, however, I know that most of these awful ideas come from the people he works for. It's like every single panel tells you what a magic money printer One Piece is, the manga already lost a bulk of its innocence it had back then. Could tell you something about each crew member.

Nah I think that from the next chapter it will change focus on other groups or maybe to Sanji & Violet and after maybe 4-5 chapters it will return to Luffy as he go on the arena fighting someone really important.

I agree. On the contrary, Naruto's cast have amazing characterization since part 2 started. Part 1 was so shitty and Kishimoto was such a terrible writer then. When part 2 came though, holy crap; couldn't believe Kishimoto was actually writing that shit - because shit was too fucking good. It's like Kishimoto had been possessed by some amazing mangaka's ghost.

if he is presented with the opportunity he has 2 choices yes/no thats it. If luffy asks Sanji will you eat this df for example. You have no real factor to make the probability change from 50/50 at least known to us at this point

Another option that some posters have said is Sabo if he will introduce himself this arc but he must be introduced with Dragon when the Revolutionary arc comes so… boh

I'm aboard with idea also, Coby needs a power up to become admiral, plus when Luffy and Coby finally have their showdown at the end of the series itll also represent Luffy fighting Ace for the last time since its his DF power he's using. It all adds up pretty well i think, also a crazy idea i have is that after Luffy defeats Akainu, Coby will fight Akainu and defeat him as well sort of like a rematch between his DF and Ace's DF, so Coby will put Akainu in his place and takes his spot as the Leader of the Navy, so in the end Luffy rises to the top and becomes the Pirate King and Coby rises to the top and becomes the leader of the marines, 2 friends starting at the bottom in the beginning of the series and rising to the top from both sides at the end of the series.

Also, what is wrong with "having problems" against Vergo, this guy is a freaking Vice-Admiral. Those VA'S are one of the strongest fighters on WG side. If the Strawhats have no problems fighting VA's than who could give them problems? Only the Admirals themselves or the Yonkou and their highest ranking crewmembers.

I know some people want Sanji to be level headed and cool like Zoro all time but that's just not him. He goes nuts over women and has nose bleeds every now and then. Last time it happened was a brief moment when he saw Monet right? Who cares? It's been a long time since then. Sanji has an awesome mix of silly and cool, very much like Luffy.
Sanji flying around, giving speeches to Jinbe, Blue Walking in the deep sea, getting all the mermaid love, saving Tashigi and G5 from the toughest opponent since the time skip, feeling responsible for Kinemon and rescuing the kids without being some lovy dove pedophile. The guy is great and despite the annoying full on plot point that was the nose bleed I don't get the hate. He's a horny guy who lives on a ship with 2 hot women that don't return his advances, of course he's going to go wild when out in the wild. Some guys are just like that and Sanji is one of them.
The Sanji hate reminds me of a mom or a wife(not mine), you do so many good things they love, then you turn around and do one thing they don't like and it defines your entire existence for life.
There was a short time where I was genuinely getting annoyed with Brooks's jokes, but not to the point that I think it completely detracts from his character. I just realized he was alone for a heck of a long time and his social skills were just reduced to nothing. He was the product of his environment much like Sanji is now especially with where he was for the last 2 years.

I never remember Sanji being "cool". He's done some cool things, but he was never a cool person in my book. Franky is cool. And super.
For me, the nosebleeds are a medical condition from being away from women for so long. It is progressively getting better though. Besides the bleeding nose(which is no longer detrimental to his health), he is acting the exact same way he always does around women. So the nosebleed doesn't make him any less cool. Nor does him fawning over Violet. If he is actually willing to kill a dude for Violet, then he will be less cool, but I seriously doubt he will go that far.

The thing just is, only Luffy did not know yet. But we as fans have had it confirmed since long.
At least, I think we've known it for long. But we knew for sure after Shinokuni in Punk Hazard.
