One Piece 703: Waiting Room

Straw Hats are kind,but just how far does that kindness extend?So far,all of their good deeds were on the grounds of helping their friends or just people who earned their sympathy.They are a bunch really good folk,often eager to help out,but they are not some altruistic do-gooders either.Back at Impel Down,Luffy didn't really give much thought to the consequences his actions might have had for the innocent folk out there.The scene where Hannyabal stands up to him seems to emphasize this.

So what happens when the interests of innocent folk are actually at odds with the interests of Straw Hats?I really hope this arc gives us some insight on that.

Yeah, its almost like they sent someone to check things out before invading a country, and would be waiting for him to respond before determining their course of action.

Though in all seriousness, it does seem unusually calm (as Sanji pointed out). The residents either don't think Akainu's magmafist of justice is coming or assume there won't be any collateral damage.

Hey now, in all seriousness (albeit very momentarily, I'm sure, then straight back to the silliness this thread has become), not speaking for anyone else, but I certainly appreciated the post. You always have some interesting thoughts on the chapters, and I'd often just skim the threads looking for them, so I think it's neat if you're going to be starting to do them again.

I didn't comment on it both because by the time I got around to seeing it posted it had already been buried several pages behind in other dross, and for the more important reason that in this case I didn't really have anything to add. I mean, I know from my own posts how it can be a little annoying to make a post like that and end up just having it buried with little to no comment, but please don't mistake that for a lack of interest.

Also if Donflamingo was an untouchable guy why would he even care about being one of the Seven Warlords. He wouldn't have bothered to become one in the first place, and he definitely wouldn't have cared about Law's threat.
In other words the entire inciting incident of this arc, Law's blackmail of him, wouldn't matter or exist.

Also Donflamingo would not have ever gotten a bounty.

That's true….all those level 6 prisoners are stirring up some major havoc somewhere.....

So what happens when the interests of innocent folk are actually at odds with the interests of Straw Hats?I really hope this arc gives us some insight on that.

Maybe the sub-plot with Violet or the Shuusui thief will have something to this effect? Now that you've brought it up, I can't stop thinking about it.

I think the frustration comes from the fact that we're now 3 arca into the new world and still have no way to gauge how strong the strawhats actually are. Hopefully the battle with Dofla will settle this since th only way to do it is to have them struggle against a pre-timeskip enemy

And if nobody challenges what I said, like in this case, then all I can do is either repeat myself or respond to other people with my posts. I can't wait for his tragic flashback that takes place right before Luffy's punch connects. And then the speculation over whether a primary antagonist, former slave lord, and child kidnapper is going to join the crew.

The only thing that I have beef with is Fujitora being an old man. I thought the whole point of the War was to make it clear that a new generation had to take over the stage since even guys like Garp and Sengoku admitted that they had no business anymore leading the marines. If anything I like how he's more humble looking than the other Admirals, and so far Oda has done a great job when it comes to the fighting styles of swordmen with devil fruit abilities so I'm really looking forward to see him in action.

Other than that I'm really loving the setting of this arc and the fact Luffy pulled off a "Jackie Chun" to take part in the tournament.

If I can ban i will fukn ban the annoying mods, they piss me off, they barely comment or participate in a discussion but when they do is "You guys are going off-topic", "Please watch the language you use" then they P.M you a warning. I know they keep order which is kool with ones that participate in discussion but the others that don't makes them look "moody" and "mean" and all I can think about is -he/she is probably laughing right now-. And no way is a new nakama or old nakama will ever eat the flame-flame fruit(well except Sanji), they can never be a two fire theme crewmates in a ship just as Usopp is a sniper but never shoots real bullet, that's why Franky a cyborg could join since he can shoot bullets/bunch of stuff. Sanji eats that fruit or no one in the crew will eat it, then Coby or an outsider gets it(which will be stupid considering Ace was Luffy bro meaning someone like Luffys family suppose to eat it).

Now let me explain why DD is tenryubito first his talk about childrens having different values in the war and if he was a poor guy like luffy how would he know about rich people since Luffy knows nothing about them , second the way he talked sengoku it was like talking a family friend , third vergos warning law about DDs past ( since laws plan was make marines atack him but it doesnt seems that way ) , fourth as a tenryubitos child DD can have bounty or everything he wants and marines cant do shit to him since they work for WG which works for tenryubito but he cant be PK so maybe he just wants it because he cant have it , fifth the toy theme since all that island seems to be playground of a rich child , sixth DD having COC which appears in royal blood ( i may be wrong about that ) .

As i said thats just a theory but it explains why DD wasnt worried , he is afraid of Kaido which is an unreasonable men but he doesnt care about WG or Marines why is that ? Thats the only logical explanation tha came to my mind , i dont know maybe DD is WGs project PK to control all the pirates since his ideals really recemble them .

I think we'll find out his past before that, since it'll be Law's "downfall".

Hate to disappoint you, Crystal, but there won't be any time for speculation. You see, Oda is going to pull an amazing swerve on us. It will be just like you say at first, we'll cut to Dofla's flashback just before Luffy's hit connects, Wapol style. However, when the flashback ends, and we come back to the present, with Luffy's fist heading straight for the final blow… at the last moment, it will stop, and Luffy will open his fist, and tell Doflamingo to take his hand. He will, of course, shedding tears of happiness that this man could possibly forgive him after all he'd done, and Luffy will pull him onto the ship as everyone cheers at the mending of their friendship after it had seemed so irreparably broken by their fight over the Going Merry!

I feel I got rather off track there somehow, actually. But I still think I got the general idea right.
