@MiyamotoMusashi:
The position of an admiral as we saw it is pretty much a position of strength, it is a huge requirement but the FA is not, easy as that. The FA is primarily chosen by the WG, sometimes taking the recommendation of the previous FA into account. The WG did not choose Akainu based on his strength, the WG did not made the proposition that the two should fight on a secret island, so that the winner of the fight would become the FA and so forth.
This is what was agreed as a final method by both parties, yes that's a good point but for my side, not yours; when all else failed, to become FA they had a battle? And what you keep forgetting to mention is that the WG PTB Must Have Let/ Allowed This To Be the way they settled this! Otherwise they could've just not abide by this as a final method. But They could have played any number of games, or tests, or even just plain contests to finally decide. But they didn't. Instead they went with a fight. Sengoku was forced to get involved in the war, and if Akainu is meant to be 1 of Luffy's last enemies to overcome; you can bet he's gonna need to be 1 of the strongest things out there to take Luffy when that time comes. And you can bet the WG took that into account(not the Luffy part but the FA needing to equal up in terms of strength in case of getting involved in fights), when making the decision in the 1st place. The Admirals were called the supreme or ultimate fighting force for the Marines because they're out there regularly doing what needs to be done and being the goal, for other Marines. But what happens if even 1 or the whole group of them meet some1 they can't handle? You can bet the FA won't just be sitting behind a desk. They're(the Admirals) the example for the rest, and FA is the example for the Admirals. And even above that Kong doesn't look like a pushover; and below the Admirals, the VA seems to be a requisite to be able to use haki. The Marines itself, and the range of positions are intertwined with getting stronger, intelligence, and those other qualities you mentioned; Why would the 1 over all the rest not in some way be the same?/ break away from the pattern?…
Answer: it has no reason to, and it really .
! @LUFFYSMC:
! > But they also had the qualities of (political position) and strength that you stated categorically had nothing to do with it. Strength, position, 'authority, leadership, intelligence and so forth' is, + was all intertwined in the deciding of that decision; this is my point. They couldn't really have 1 quality without the others, and they couldn't have been truly considered for the position without all the qualities in some form..
Still applies^^, + your quote below just helps prove my point.
To reach the position of admiral is already a proof of your strength and the admirals pre-TS were all approx at the same level. To choose the FA on the other hand, strength does not play a role because the strength of an admiral is already apparent. So yes, the position of FA is not one based on strength.
So basically they already knew how strong their candidates for FA were since they knew their strength as Admirals; that's what you're saying, right? So Thank you, for making my point for me. Look over your statement and look look above at my original quoted statement^^. It's covered.
! Still the point, past, present, or future, intentional, (although still clearly intentional) or not; strength was definitively involved in the decision. When all those qualities you mentioned below were tied/ equal/ opposite/ or opposing/ w.e. they did agree to do it that way; in a way where strength came into play. And if it even came into play once, do you seriously think it might not again?
So in the the end did it just become about all those qualities, + strength, or was it that way all along?..
But this is where your statement of Ao Kiji, and Akainu deciding that a 1 vs 1 war conflicts your own point; They decided; and the Marines, + WG PTB, abide by it. Why??!!
Simple because it still suits their needs. If 2 people make a deal with each other, (Let's call them A + B, plus C is the outside party), and the result is that The best candidate gets to make a deal with C; then C's still happy because inevitably it still works out the way they all pretty much wanted. Odds are this is why, they were happy no matter what; everybody but the loser wins, everybody but the loser gets the best option.
@DARK_RITUAL:
Even Zoro told Luffy that he had made a great enemy(referring to Coby).. And we all know when Zoro takes interest in someone that means that person is gonna fight him or that person is really strong.(and Zoro was also interested in Helmeppos fighting style/weapon).
Agreed, as in total agreement, ironically Luffy seems to hand out those compliments much more generously( ex: FI drunken swordsmen)
@kagehisa:
You guys obviously don't get it. Coby and Helmeppo are like Garp and Sengoku.
Therefore Coby will never realize his dream of becoming admiral, being stuck at VA. and Helmeppo will become the Fleet Admiral
"being stuck at VA", if that means choosing to stay in that lowered position because he sees that as probably the most freedom, power, and 'lack of constant responsibilities' he'll probably ever get, in the Marines; then yeah that's exactly what Coby will become^^.
