Haha awesome. Hopefully it goes back to how Thief 1 and 2 were rather than 3 or Dishonored (as much as I liked the game). I'm kind of worried about it being made by the HR guys, as I played the original Deus Ex and apparently HR was similar to that. Thief is a pure stealth game so hopefully they stick to that.
Edit: Apparently it's going to have takedowns and see through wall vision. Pumped level lowered but I'm still a little bit cautiously optimistic. I just hope it's not steampunk Human Revolution.

Now this right here is awesome
Hmm..so it has NES/Genesis/Snes/ AND GBA on HDMI?….Very cool. I really want one. Nothing like playing the originals on a console rather than emulation.

Planescape Torment being one of the greatest story-driven games of all time, and one of the greatest fantasy stories PERIOD of all time, this doesn't surprise me in the least.
Damn man, I'm still not quite convinced enough in that kickstarter thing to chime in until one of these ships to the satisfaction of its backers.
But that(and prject divinity and dreamfall) would be something I'd love to get in.
It's going to be interesting when all these kickstarter games start to hit steam. I wonder how they'll fare and how they review given that these are pretty niche games for now and if one of them could hit it big after.
But yeah, with the amount of projects I've seen in Kickstarter, I'm a little bit wary of what I back up. It has admittedly become a little saturated with crappy projects, but there are some legit stuff with actual promise tho.

That's generally why the projects with big names backing them up get the most funds.

Faster Than Light was funded through Kickstarter and has come out and is really cool. There are a couple others I think that I can't remember the names of. And there's been a lot of stuff that isn't video games come from Kickstarter so it's not like nothing at all has ever come out of it. That's the point as well, that they're niche games being funded this way because publishers most likely wouldn't touch them. I think that Star Citizen and Project Eternity/Wasteland 2/Torment might jumpstart some interest in their respective genres though when they come out.

I know, and I rather meant it in the framework of these big developement projects pulling the double fine and landing within the millions.
Faster than light is not a good comparison to those with it originally only "needing" 10000$.
I'm just being really iffy about it especially after skull girls broke down how much it just costs to make one character(and before someone points out that it's different because it's a fighting game character I know, so go figure why else I would make the comparison).
I don't feel there is much transparancy for these big projects like how many people work on those, also I'm not a fan of the stretchgoal design philosophy(alas it doesn't mean that I can't enjoy the result if it's good).
As for bringing up that a lot of other projects have come out of it, well obviously, but I'm sure that also quite a few have failed leaving people in the dust.
I'm just waiting to see one studio with a bigger kickstarter project to succeed including their game turning out good.
It's quite different to manage 1-2 million for a bigger developement project over a longer period of time vs 10k over 4-6 months.
So I just bought this game called 999. It wouldn't happen to be any good would it?

The DS game? I heard it's really good, but it's more a visual novel than a video game.

Never played the original, but it got rave reviews in the thread for the sequel, which was brilliant.
The original is as brilliant as Virtue's Last Reward so yes it's excellent and was one of my favorite DS games of its lifespan.
999 is really good. Avoid spoilers.
I think I should start a Kickstarter thread but there's probably not enough interest.
Here's the first gameplay from Shadowrun Returns. It looks really good.
That l;ooks and feels alot like Fallout1+2
I just had to laugh at that.
Anyone here thinks that this picture is the sad truth?

There's a Kickstarter thread in Media. But eh… There isn't much you can say about Kickstarters aside from advertising the existance of projects.
Hey…I liked Dead Space 3...albiet it wasn't much like Dead Space 1 or 2, but it was still good.

Not really especially if we're factoring Dragon Age,NFS,Burnout. Though it's funny how Medal Honor and NBA Live Elite isn't in there since those are in significantly worser shape than those other games.

Jesus Christ the Steambox thing is expensive!
It's similar but it isn't the same thing. I don't think Valve is stupid enough to try and compete with consoles (if that's what they're trying to do) with something that expensive. It's a waste of money anyway I think since you can get a really nice PC for that amount of money.
A Tale of Two Sons;
Looks interesting.
http://mynintendonews.com/2013/03/10/new-crash-bandicoot-game-coming-to-wii-u/
Crash bandicoot maybe being made for Xbox, PS3, and Wii U there was supposedly a countdown website up but it came down instantly but someone got a screenshot before it went down.
Can't say it's news worthy, like Spyro the PS1 Crash Bandicoot's were the only good ones. Now if Naughty Dog was developing it that'd be different. But they're not and unless Sony can buy the franchsie they never will do another.
It's been a while for Crash. Although I only really played the first few ones. It has the potential to be pretty decent I guess. But Activision having their name on it worries me so much.
I'm honestly surprised they didn't put him in Skylanders already

There hasn't been a single good Crash since it left Naughty Dog's care, and unfortunately there's been quite a few.
The PS1 Crash games were a blast but after the franchise left Naughty Dog it just doesn't felt right.
Don't even know why it left ND, it was a great series and with CTR Sony had a real cool Mario Kart "clone"
One piece pirate warriors 2 demo is out in Japanese acct tho. Law and Luffy playable to those who don't know.
So wanted to know what people think about ideas like this http://www.edge-online.com/news/kojima-touts-potential-of-pilot-episodes-for-next-gen-game-development/
Personally it's something I've thought of before, and the more I think about the issue, the more I see it as one of the most viable ways to encourage new ip creation. You create a small, downloadable version of a game idea (Like a psn or nintendo eshop exclusive type of thing). See what the response to that is: Do people like it, is it selling well, what do people like about it, how are the reviews? And if it does well enough, you make a full sized retail game with better production values, more refined gameplay, and an expanded world in general. It'd add a lot of refinement to the creation of new ips, and generally decrease the risk a lot (obviously it wouldn't be a perfect indicator, but it'd still be helpful). It'd also be good for consumers since it would help get rid of some of the hesitation of getting into new ips. Its easy to disregard a new ip, even one that got great reviews, in favor of an established franchise because with established franchises you have a better idea of what to expect, and when you're spending around $60 for a retail game, that uncertainty can be a major hindrance to new ips. But if its a $5-$10 game, then suddenly it becomes a lot easier to try new things because there is less risk involved for the consumer as well. Ultimately the situation seems pretty win-win to me. Obviously it can be disappointing if a game you liked never gets noticed, but in general I think it'd help foster new franchises and make it so that more of the big franchises in retail have some quality testing behind them.
More cool Kickstarter stuff.
Pulse is a first-person experiential journey in which you are blind. Using a process similar to echolocation, you use sounds in the environment to create a mental reconstruction of the world around you. The character has not been blind since birth, and is therefore able to pull memories from their childhood to "see" the environment.
Throw Trucks With Your Mind is a multiplayer-focused game where you … wait for it … throw trucks with your mind! No, seriously! Using your brainwaves, you unleash your psychokinetic powers on other players. No guns. No gimmicks. Just concentration, your brain, and psychic awesomeness. The game uses first-person shooter controls, but it's not a first-person shooter. You'll fight entirely through NeuroSky's MindWave headset peripheral that reads the electrical activity of your brain. Your weapon is the world around you and the various psychic manipulations you can perform on it to clobber others. There will be single-player training scenarios to teach you everything you need to know about the multiplayer, which is the main focus of the game.
First game is an exploration game where you reveal what the game looks like and navigate using echolocation. Second game is a multiplayer game that uses an EEG headset to read your brainwaves and allows you to throw things within the game. It'll have Oculus Rift support if it reaches $100,000 too.
Hey all my fellow Drakengard fans…
http://www.siliconera.com/2013/03/12/drakengard-3-drag-on-dragoon-3-in-development/
BOOM
If it's as good as Nier then yay. Never played Drakengard.
I'll be even more excited if it gets released over here
Apperently Okabe (who basicly directed the Music in Nier) is making the OST.
Which is great news, i loved Nier's music.

This reeks of such bullshit I can smell it through my computer screen.
It's obviously BS since by all reports Dark Souls 2 might not even be released till 2014.

Yeah, and Final Fantasy Versus XIII in 3 months? What? Let's not even get started on Half-Life 2: Episode 3 which is never going to happen. That shit will be folded into Half-Life 3 if not left on the cutting room floor.

To be fair Versus maybe in 3 moths just since it has been forever since it was announced. That one I might buy, but Half-Life is another total giveaway.
Also Prey 2. And Beyond Good and Evil 2.

Anybody else looking forward to this? As soon as Lucasarts decides to make something worth playing, Disney comes in and grinds everything to a halt. Oh well, hopefully this is just some sort of discreet marketing ploy by lucasarts and not just an employee worried about the game being cancelled.
I was more under the impression that people wanted 1313 or a New Rogue Squadron game not a downloadable COD Clone.

I hear people complaining about a new Battlefront one (I think) all the time
The next game in the Atelier series (Ayesha) doesn't have multiple language options meaning I'll be skipping it while shaking my fist full of rage. Seriously though, the only thing that made those games so appealing to me was the Japanese voice option.

Battlefront is not a CoD clone. It also supports 64 players while this one supports 16.

Understand, but the series did have excellent localization. In general, I thought Totori and Meruru were some of the hidden gems of the past few years (never played Rorona since it sounded like they didn't have the kinks worked out).
The localization in Ayesha doesn't seem quite so good, and there's something not quite as charming about it either.
I'm trying to remember the name of a party game from japan. It starts with a D i believe, and it jokingly says it breaks friends apart. but i can't remember. and i can't find it on google. Any help?
