Just finished reading and OH MY GOD THIS IS ONE OF THE BEST MANGA I'VE EVER READ.
Now imagine if those last 60 chapters took roughly 7 years to get through.

he would still love the manga, but hate the mangaka. Like a lot of us do.
PS I don't.
HxH even at the end did not turn into generic shit, maybe becouse Togashi is doing things at his own pace. Maybe he writes when his inspiration hits him.

And all those breaks let him recharge too.
I bet the decline of a lot of long-running series can be traced back to the author being stuck with so much work and not many breaks. The lack of sleep gets to their head and they start doing dumb things that make no sense.
Give Yu Yu Hakusho a try since you love HxH. Japan obviously loved YYH, otherwise Togashi wouldn't have been able to pull off well a Togashi lol.

Full Metal Alchemist might be proof of that.

What was wrong about FMA?
Also I don't think he came back recharged at all. We still got cruddy scribbles and half assed images in the movie tie in chapters.

Nothing, it's perfect. But I thought the author took a long break before finishing it.

No, she didn't. I think that it ran continualy from start to finish. Maybe it had a break, plus the missed edition when the Earthquake hit. It was monthly though.

Oh, maybe I just confused during the discussion about a break. My bad. :(
One chapter per month is like a break lol. Second most painful manga releases to HxH was fma imo lol. One of few series I completed that I also have completed on my shelf.
Wondeful episode. Smart, a but unpredictable, fun strategy, awesome character interaction. Everything that makes HXH my favorite series
Togashi-sensei I will take your 10 chapters per year for as many years as you are willing to write :)
Agreed. This episode just reinforced everything I love about HxH especially the friendship between Gon and Killua been for me personally the best aspect of the series and the best friendship I have had the pleasure of reading in fiction. It also makes what Killua goes through mentally in the Chimera ant arc all that more painful.

The only downside to this episode is that its made me depressed that One piece doesn't recieve such awesome treatment from Toei. Too bad that I don't ever see them selling the license to anyone anytime soon. If they could give it to Madhouse.
A quick question, does the whole licensing work the same way as how authors sell to movie companies and they no longer have a say unless the company wants them to? Or can Oda go to toei and say, "you're not doing justice to One piece I'm going to go with another production company"?
The animation was quite good for this episode. I liked the way the effects happened when Gon took his time to power up. Hisoka's giggle. The Gorilla swapping. Fun fun.
Sorry I'm so late on the ball but I literally cannot even process what I just watched. That short-circuited my brain. Lately I've been watching all Hunter X Hunter episodes as they come out 2-3 times in a row. I agree with kevo_koma that were it possible, MadHouse are the only ones who should touch One Piece.
..Anyway. I was not expecting such powerful music, if anything. This is RARE for me but, the only way I can describe the state of mind I've been in the past hour or so after watching this is tumblr-fangirl. And that is not something I want to be.

Can't really agree that's what happened. Gon was clearly just upset and mad with grief.
All he really implies is that Killua can't relate because he never lost anyone close to him.
"Must be nice to be cool like that Killua, since this is no concern to you"
Granted, Gon was still being a giant dick, but he never stopped confiding in Killua.
Anyone have a gif of Gon powering up his nen vs Razor? (the part from episode 70)

By the way this episode got me alot more excited for the chimera ants arc.
And i can only imagine how great the arc will be, i mean one of its very few flaws was the hiatus.

And the scribbles. But luckily Togashi isn't an animator lol.

Let's just hope the animators don't try to emulate it lol

That would actually be amazing.
The scribles would work with Hair Collumn Mode fight, and when welfin is shitting his pants, but in the pre massacre party or Gon's good bye? lame.

That animation is sweet. But I'd still be pissed to see it from Mad House. Also I like that the artist used Hunter language.
Guess what, guys?
Tomorrow will make the 1 year mark since the last regular chapter.
We should do something to mark this anniversary.
But isn't doing nothing more fitting?
16 chars of Truth.
What we should do to celebrate… is to cook a delicious turkey.
With a many scribbles in it (with some edible color markers of course).
I'm going to wake up tomorrow and find random pieces of my reality be splotchy screentone aren't I?
And everything around you will be white while you'll notice that most of your friends and familly have become stick figures.

Oh, you guys. I think a DQ marathon is in order, however we must play as slow as Togashi (40 hours and still lvl 20).
I still don't know how that's possible.
Wer should just all change our Avatars for the Day to honor his laziness. Each pick a terrible scribble he's published.

That's too much work. It would be more in honor to do nothing at all.
Actually, just us talking about the anniversary and debating about what to do for it is too much work.
Here. I made a banner.

Nice! Very fitting.
We should do up all of our avatars in lazy scribble form
Actually could somebody draw me a lazy scribble of my bird with a bowler hat avatar because it's mendoukusai

That's the Togashi spirit!
It's a bird w/ a hat

must incorporate
Ahahah, lol'd with the real realistic turkey.
So yeah, it's been a year since we last had a chapter. Definetely above the average duration of a Hiatus. What was the longest one, and any predictions about the current one? Maybe some betting would make the wait less boring!
super high school level artistry

Wow that was awesome. Gets me even more hype for the chimera ant arc.

The longest was about a year and a half, between 16 and 18 months, I forget which.
It was right before the infiltration of the ant's lair. Horrible cliffhanger spot.
Then we got 10 chapters, then another break!
