New HxH has some fucking swish animation when stuff is going down.
Remarkable for a weekly long running show.
It's easy when the series is already finished and you're not at all worried about catching up and know in advance where to throw the budget.
Wonder if they'll adapt all of the Chimera Ant arc's "explain which way the character swiveled his toe in battle to not die brutally" bubbles? The narrator has a pretty overbearing voice. I think, if they choose to do so, that him narrating all of the Chimera Ant walls of text will make it work in the anime. He's already enhanced quite a bit of things remarkably.

Perhaps. Stuff like that typically works better in print form though, so I think they should condense it to the bare minimum.
It's been working in Jojo so far.
And I loved the "Narrator breaks" in Yu Yu hakusho.
It's all in the direction.
Hearing a narrator while the fight is animated shouldn't be a problem.

There's also Shin Mazinger style of narration so agitated that it feels as if the narrator is gonna jump into the action and break some faces.

The narration for Jojo has generallly been good, but the dialogue can be a bit much at times. Yu Yu Hakusho did it well, yes, but for the most part the narration was segregated from the action, as opposed to interspersed within it.

Any news on whether or not there is an episode tonight?

^^^Awesome thanks
Whoohoo, new episode is out, I was totally wrong about today's break!
Hah I can't believe they got away with that erection joke.
Incredible!
oh hisoka you creepy bastard you
I am kind of proud to see Madhouse use Gon and Killua's pupils to translate what Togashi did with speach bubbles into another medium.
Man I hope this anime gets licensed in the west, every week my urge to buy this series grow and grows
! Just like Hisoka's urge to get some shota ass :ninja:
LMAO I love the Aiai city scene

That was a nice touch. Wow…does this still air Sunday mornings or did they change it up?
I'm so looking forward to the new episode. One of my favorite parts in the GI arc.

Ya know, it's kinda odd. As well thought out as the series is, I find that part in particular to be full of logic errors.

The Dodgeball game. I'd rather not reread it at this moment, but I recall there being several obvious mistakes.
I found Greed Island to be pretty boring to be honest

I can see that. It has far less of a "wow factor" than York Shin and The Chimera Ant Arc. It's certainly one of my least favorite arcs.

Ah….Well if you remember what these mistakes were that'd be nice lol.

I'm busy, but I should have time to reread it eventually.

You're killin' me Smalls.
Now I'm trying to rack my brain about what could have been off about that part.
Lol, did anyone else notice that Togashi dog face falling on Hisoka? For some reason I found that incredibly funny.
Kite will be voiced by Shuichi Ikeda (Shanks voice in OP)
http://www.crunchyroll.com/anime-news/2013/02/24-1/shuuichi-ikeda-to-voice-hunter-x-hunter-character-kite
haha. considering he's kinda like the shanks of this series that's quite funny
Will Char Aznable be still voicing him when he becomes a chick?
This is all narration you are hearing.
This was amazing FYI.
Shanks huh. As awesome and appropriate as that is, personally he's gonna have to tone down his voice to a gentle purr for it to work for me. We'll see though, MadHouse has done nothing but magic so far.
And now I'm wondering what was off about the Greed Island dodgeball game too. I've reread it like 5 times.
OK, here's my list of logical issues with the Dodgeball game. I still think it was very entertaining, but it contained a few decisions that range from questionable to foolish.
! 1:Razor letting his men get hit
I understand that he was setting up at the start, but If he had gone all out from the start and then just adopted the strategy after a few of his guys were out, he’d have a bigger lead. The only risk involved was that Razor would have a higher chance of getting hit before the setup was complete, but seeing as he would still have plenty of men inside the court, a “back” in reserve, and the ability to play outside the court, I don’t follow that logic.
! 2:Goreinu using his black gorilla to hit Razor early on
They said in that very chapter that they were aiming for Razor last so he couldn’t call “back.” Goreinu shouldn’t have played this card so early, or should have used it on “13” and “2” first.
! 3:Gon using “Jajanken” to knock out “13” then Razor
Again, the goal was to take out Razor last, so he couldn’t call “back.” After knocking out “13” they should have gone for “2” with a regular throw, Hisoka using Bungee Gum whether he or Gon threw it. One could argue that Razor would intercept if they didn’t use “Jajanken,” but that’s hardly a sure thing. This isn’t really a big mistake, but they should have at least explained their actions.
! 4:Biscuit knocking out “2”
By this point Razor had already called “back,” so there was no point in taking out the weaker guys first. This move knocked out “2,” but gave Razor the ball as a result. Once Razor was out there would be no threat, so they should have prioritized him.

People crack under pressure, have egos, or make split second decisions when they see an open opportunity. Happens in HxH all the time. Just because you plan for something doesn't mean that won't shift immediatley once a battle starts and something is different thanwhat you just discussed. ("No battle plan ever remained intact upon meeting the other army.")
And you can also assume Razor was taking it easy and having fun at the start. (And still kicking butt regardless.) There was no point or need for him to go all out until the group showed their skills… and no need for him to reveal all his tricks (or them reveal theirs) until it got fully going. Plus, its a game. While he can't just let someone win, he has to be sporting as well. There has to be a chance for them to win.
I don't know how you can have a problem with them breaking their plans and strategies during that game, and NOT have a the bomber fight right after, (where the plan one "get bomber in hole... drop a rock on him." Instead Gon did different stuff and got his arm blown off.) or basically every single fight in the chimera arc. When has a plan EVER remained intact in HxH for more than two seconds?
I did not say that the mistakes weren't understandable. I don't even think they take away from the game more than a hair. I simply said that I recalled there being several logic errors in the game, and when prompted I wrote them down.
Kinda what Robbby said. I assumed that Razor wasn't going balls to the walls because he was also supposed to be part of the game. He's strong enough to act as a guard for the game and be much stronger than probably all the players so he doesn't get decimated, but he has to hold back. Getting the prequists for the fight was difficult enough.
I wouldn't consider it logical problems or mistakes on Togashi's part. But that it was how he wanted the fight to go down.
You had me thinking it was going to be a Kubo level plot hole lol.
Greed island is one of my favourite arcs :P I guess I'm a minority in that.
It's just so colourful and a refreshing change of scenery, and it's fun seeing the characters living and playing a real-life MMO

Eh, I wouldn't call it bad, but I'd definitely put it below York Shin and The Chimera Ant arc. It's roughly on par with the rest of the arcs, but those two were truly exceptional.
I've said it before and I'll say it again Greed Island is the best arc in this series. Adding onto that I think it's one of the best "training arc" I've seen.

No doubt it had the best training arcs.

Holy shit that is an awesome sig
Yeah just made a gif of the latest One Punch Man chapter. Just Murata being awesome.
I'll just say that with Hunter X Hunter, everything is a favorite arc for me. And I find Hisoka, Gon, and Killua in their manwich deflection arrangement during Razor's battle to be a legendary moment in manga. What I love is how the arcs are so diverse, it's quite easy to say any is one's favorite.
I've always thought greed island was pretty boring, especially coming off of Yorkshin which was pretty action packed (to an extent) and awesome. We go from that to a card game. I remember there was a whole chapter just describing cards, I was like WTF. Some Bomber moments were pretty cool though and towards the end the arc didn't really bother me but definetly not one of my favorites.
So yeah I've picked up the new anime. and i kinda like it a bit more than the old one. at least the beginning for sure cause I thought the beginning of the old anime was too slow paced and boring till the tower arc. I kinda do like the atmosphere of the old anime more though, but this one has grown on me and for the most part the animation has been great. Off the top of my head though I thought the old anime did the spinning top scene better though. Also dunno why they didn't mention anything about Kite.
Anyways looking forward to seeing the ant arc animated.
Hi everyone!
So i recently re-read all of the Hunter x Hunter manga (own volume 1-29, and translation from there), and am all hyped up again, so all I can think off is HxH related stuff.
I had the urge to discuss some ideas, so I signed up here, since i saw some nice discussion in this thread :)
Lately I have been wondering, if Gon can stand up to Hisoka yet.
Hisoka stated after their last fight, that he has a chance after 10 more fights in the Heaven's Arena so he left.
His Scissors basically counter Hisoka's Bungee Gum (to the point where I think Togashi might have given him that ability with their future fight in mind),
and Gon got a lot more battle experience from that point on:
Greed Island Arc:
Ant Arc:
I think all those fights are at least equal to 10 in Heaven's Arena.
So what do you think about that?
I have to add that it's not my intetion to bring up a "Gon vs Hisoka powerlevel" discussion.
I simply want to know your opinions and speculations on the matter. If they would meet now, would Hisoka have to fight seriously?
Of course no one could predict the outcome, since there are too many factors involved (reason of the fight, location, emotions).
So with the wise words of Morau: "You slipped up when you used the phrase "chance of winning" in a fight involving nen users.
The slightest misstep can lead to a critical hit. Having more aura won't save you then. Either side might be victorious. That is a true nen fight."
Sorry for grammar and poor choice of words, English is not my first language '^'

Not 10 more fights in Heaven's Arena. Hisoka said that he would have a chance after 10 more fights with Himself in Heaven's Arena, which presumably includes any other battles or training he'd do in the interim. Anyway, I think Gon can give Hisoka a good fight at this point, but Hisoka would definitely win.
But hasn't Gon lost all of his power and will have to start from scratch anyway? Unless a nen exorcist or something can give him power back again. Something like Zoro absorbing all his crewmates' pain perhaps.
